Mum crippled by ‘unbelievable’ pain and forced to use crutches gets miracle CBD cure – Glasgow Live
Posted: October 19, 2021 at 9:59 pm
A Glasgow mum has told how drops of cannabis oil has changed her life after years of suffering "unbelievable" pain.
Kelly Tweedle's ordeal began during her second pregnancy when she developed SPD symphysis pubis dysfunction a condition that causes a debilitating pain in the hips, back and upper legs.
It was so bad, Kelly, 37, from Penilee, spent six months of her pregnancy having to use crutches to get around.
Neither over-the-counter painkillers nor stronger tablets that were prescribed by her doctor managed to control Kellys pain.
Sign up to Glasgow Live newsletters for more headlines straight to your inbox
But that that all changed last summer when she started taking half-a-dozen drops of Nutrivive CBD oil under her tongue every day.
Former midwife Kelly explained: SPD is a condition that is very under-recognised for the amount of pain it can cause.
I was on crutches after being six months pregnant with Alfie. The pain in my hips was unbelievable. At first I wore a belt during the day to help with the pain, but it got so bad I had no option but to get about on crutches.
My legs wouldnt move like I wanted them to and it would take me ages to do something simple and straightforward as get out of bed.
I would have had another child if it wasnt for the pain I suffered during my second pregnancy. Its a horrible pain and I wouldnt wish it on anyone. I now wish Nutrivive was around after I gave birth to Alfie.
Although for many women the condition improves and disappears after giving birth, Kelly continued to suffer the chronic pain SPD brings for nine years after her son, Alfie was born.
She also has a daughter, Ava, aged 12, but she went through so much pain, it even stopped her having the third child she wanted, as she couldnt bear the agony of severe SPD during pregnancy again.
Kelly continued: Even after Alfie was born, the pain never really went away and sometimes it would be just about bearable and I would put up with it. But whenever Id take part in any physical activity it would flare up again and would last for weeks at a time.
Id sign up for a fitness class then have to stop going because the pain would come back with a vengeance. It got to the point where I would hold back from doing anything physically exerting.
I had physiotherapy, but that didnt cure the problem. I resigned myself that I wasnt going to be cured of the pain and tried to accept that I had a dodgy hip.
Kelly found out about Nutrivive through a relative who used their CBD oil.
Contrary to what the name suggests, Cannabis oil is a totally legal substance that is becoming increasingly popular for its healing properties.
Some of the best-known celebrities who are said to use CBD oil include Kim Kardashian, Whoopi Goldberg, Jennifer Aniston, Gwyneth Paltrow, Mike Tyson, Morgan Freeman and Tom Hanks, and even David Beckham has invested in a company using CBD in its products.
The oil is legal, safe and non-addictive, as it doesnt contain the THC compound that gives the high associated with smoking cannabis, or taking the drug in other forms. Rather, the oil used contains an element of the cannabis plant, called cannabidiol, which is part of the plant with pain relieving, calming and healing properties. Medical cannabis was legalised in the UK in November 2018.
Jumping on the trend in Glasgow is a CBD-based company called Nutrivive, which was founded by brothers Harry and John McDonough.
The brand sell CBD oils, a cream and a moisturiser and have a growing following crediting them with a number of health benefits. It has been been infused into a health drink called Zen AF which is sold in Juicy on Byres Road.
She said: I did some research and was quite impressed, so I thought I would give it a go.
After a couple of weeks putting half a dozen drops of Nutrivive CBD oil under my tongue, I noticed I wasnt suffering as much pain in my hips. And by the time Id finished my first bottle there was a massive difference and I couldnt wait to order another bottle.
I realised it was definitely the Nutrivive CBD that was making me pain-free because I went for a few weeks without taking the oil and my hip pain came back. As soon as I started taking the Nutrivive again, the pain disappeared. That really brought it home to me that the oil was working.
Harry told Glasgow Live: Its a fantastic feeling knowing that our CBD oil has made a difference to peoples lives.
In recent years, many people have been turning to CBD oil to help them relax and deal with anxiety, get a deep, restful sleep and find relief from inflammation and pain.
I use it myself and I know first-hand the benefits it brings to me through relaxation, better sleep quality and how it holistically strengthens your mind, and body.
The following month after she started taking the oil, Kelly was even able to start on the Couch to 5K training plan and has almost completed the nine-week sessions pain free.
Ive got zero pain and it has given me huge encouragement and Ive got more confident" she said. "It feels great now that Ive got so far with the training without having to give up.
Id now quite like to do a fun run for charity, but before I started using the Nutrivive CBD theres no way I would be able to do that.
Its massively changed my life and I wouldnt be able to do the things many people take for granted if it wasnt for the CBD oil.

Billy Hood: Man sentenced to 25 years in Dubai over cannabis oil ‘hoping and praying’ for release – Sky News
Posted: at 9:59 pm
A young man sentenced to 25 years imprisonment in Dubai for possessing CBD oil says he is "praying" and "hoping" authorities will "see the light" and release him.
Billy Hood, 24, from Kensington, London, was working as a football coach in the UAE country when police discovered four small bottles of the oil derived from cannabis, and a vape pen, in his car and arrested him on 31 January.
He was convicted of drug trafficking with intent to supply by a court and has been held ever since.
Mr Hood's mother Breda Guckion and brother Alex Hood were speaking to Sky News when he phoned from Dubai.
He described how he has been forced to sleep on the floor for the last eight days, without access to anyone who speaks English and meagre food, while he awaits his appeal hearing.
"I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy," he said.
"I'm calling for help from the UK government and foreign secretary, if they could get me home safely it would be much appreciated.
"Every day I'm praying, I'm hoping, hoping someone will see the light and justice will be served," he added.
CBD oil is legal in the UK but because it sometimes contains trace elements of THC - the main psychoactive compound found in cannabis - it is not tolerated under the UAE's strict drug laws.
Mr Hood says the bottles and vape pen were left in his car by a friend he had driven to the airport two weeks prior to his arrest, and that he was forced to sign a confession written in Arabic after being held in appalling conditions for four days.
He says he was refused a translator and told he would not be released from his cell, where he was held with 30 other men and given only bread and water, unless he signed the document.
On signing it he was taken to a "police station and kept in an isolation cell for 14 days without any hygiene products", he told campaign group Detained in Dubai.
"Forced and coerced confessions are commonplace in Dubai," said Radha Stirling, chief executive of the group, who are representing the family.
His family and friends have been fighting to get him released and home for the last eight-and-a-half months but say they have had little help from the foreign office.
"We've had zero support from the embassy, they don't want to know," mum Breda said.
"He is just another young kid gone out there yes he has gone out there but Billy wanted to have a better life for himself and he has done that and now look, now you get no help from no one."
The United Arab Emirates government said in response: "The General Directorate for Drug Control (GDDC) received a tip-off that Mr Billy Hood, possessed quantities of synthetic cannabis oil with the intention of selling.
"Consequently, M. Hood was apprehended on 2 February 2021 and then charged with drug trafficking, following the search of the vehicle he was driving.
"Mr Hood was found to be in possession of quantities of synthetic cannabis oil, known scientifically as 'MDMB-4en-PINACA'. The police search of Mr Hood's vehicle found the cannabis oil, substantial amounts of cash, an electronic hookah, various storage bottles and boxes, and 570 individual cartridges to be used for substance vaping.
"Mr Hood was convicted based on evidence including the items found in his possession, information on his phone, third party statement, and his own confession."
It added that Mr Hood had access to an interpreter at all times, his ruling was made in accordance with UAE law, and that the substance in question has no therapeutic use.
An appeal hearing is set for next Tuesday and the family are pinning all their hopes that it will see Billy's release.
Echoing Billy's call for justice, Breda said: "I know for a fact Boris Johnson has children like I have, I hope to God he is never in my situation because it could easily be someone else's son or someone else's son, someone else's daughter.
"So I'm begging him from the bottom of my heart help bring Billy home."
Speaking about the moment she heard he son had been sentenced to 25 years imprisonment, Breda, who is 55, said: "I broke down. I still don't try to think its 25 years because when you do it's shattering and it's heartbreaking.
"It's something that we know is there but we don't talk about it.
"We try to believe he won't do 25 years because it's crazy. He won't be [home] until he is 49 His nan is 86, she will never see him again. Will I see him again? I don't know that's why we have to bring him home."
Speaking about the appeal hearing on Tuesday, Alex added: "We are hoping a judge can look through the case properly and actually realise and see the truth of this that it doesn't deserve a 25-year sentence.
"Drug trafficking into the country - that's crazy hopefully the judge can see what really happened.
"The truth is a friend that was visiting Dubai a few days before [Billy's] arrest left the vapes in Billy's car as he dropped him to the airport, that was it."
He added: "Billy doesn't take drugs, he never has, but as Billy has explained this was not his oil. The oils were not hisThere is no evidence he was selling them. The only evidence is a confession signed in Arabic - nothing else."
The family want the UK government to lend their assistance to make sure Billy is freed.
Breda said: "Our only hope is that someone else higher up in the government, the foreign secretary, somebody has to step in now. It's down to them we can't do anything"
"It is up to them, if they want to do something about it, they can."
The family are holding a peaceful protest on Saturday outside parliament to put pressure on the government to act.
A GoFundMe set up in Billy's name has raised over 15,000 and a petition to free him has attracted over 3,600 signatures.
A spokesperson form the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office said: "We are giving consular support to a British man who has been imprisoned in the UAE."

CBD may not provide pain relief, but it can significantly help lessen the discomfort – Study Finds
Posted: at 9:59 pm
SYRACUSE, N.Y. Thanks to its supposed uses as everything from a stress reducer to a skincare treatment to a pain reliever, cannabidiol, or CBD, has exploded in popularity in recent years. According to some estimates, by 2024, the CBD industry may be valued at $20 billion. While customers praise its usefulness in pain reduction, there has been little experimental study on the drugs real efficacy in humans. A recent study out of Syracuse University offers insight into CBDs capacity to relieve pain, as well as the influence that the placebo effect could have on results.
The placebo effect, of course, is the idea that a product or drug that really doesnt do anything at all to our bodies is still effective in convincing us that it does. Many users say CBD works wonders, while others say its useless thus fueling the placebo effect theory.
So which is it?
Thats a fair question because we know that simply telling someone that a substance has the ability to relieve their pain can actually cause robust changes in their pain sensitivity. These are called expectancy effects, says Martin De Vita, a researcher in the psychology department at Syracuses College of Arts and Sciences, in a statement.
De Vita and co-author Stephen Maisto, research professor and professor emeritus of psychology, recently completed the very first comprehensive review and meta-analysis of experimental studies evaluating the effects of cannabis medicines on pain. They show that CBD, as well as the expectation of getting CBD, do not seem to lower the intensity of pain. Interestingly, however, they do help ease the uncomfortable feeling of pain.
For their research, the authors induced thermal pain on participants, which allowed them to evaluate how the recipients neurological system reacts to it. Then we administer a drug, like pure CBD, or a placebo and then re-assess their pain responses and see how they change based on which substance was administered, says De Vita.
The team then told some participants who took the placebo that they had received CBD, while others whod actually taken CBD were told they were given the placebo.
That way we could parse out whether it was the drug that relieved the pain, or whether it was the expectation that they had received the drug that reduced their pain, explains De Vita. We hypothesized that we would primarily detect expectancy-induced placebo analgesia (pain relief). What we found though after measuring several different pain outcomes is that its actually a little bit of both. That is, we found improvements in pain measures caused by the pharmacological effects of CBD and the psychological effects of just expecting that they had gotten CBD. It was pretty remarkable and surprising.
The data is exciting but pretty complex in that different pain measures responded differently to the drug effect, to the expectancy, or both the drug and expectancy combined so were still trying to figure out what is behind the differential data with different kinds of pain measures, adds Maisto. The next step is studying the mechanisms underlying these findings and figuring out why giving instructions or CBD itself causes certain reactions to a pain stimulus.
People usually consider pain to be an on-or-off button that some people have and some lack. However, as De Vita points out, pain is a multi-dimensional phenomenon impacted by both biological and psychological elements. Pain intensity, for example, denotes a sensory element of pain, whereas discomfort suggests an effective, or mental, element of pain. If you think of pain as the noxious noise coming from a radio the volume can represent the intensity of the pain, while the station can represent the quality, says De Vita.
His earlier research found that while cannabis medicines didnt reduce the intensity of pain, they did change the channel making it a little less unpleasant.
Its not sunshine and rainbows pleasant, but something slightly less bothersome. We replicated that in this study and found that CBD and expectancies didnt significantly reduce the volume of the pain, but they did make it less unpleasantit didnt bother them as much, explains De Vita.
The source or type of CBD was also an essential factor in the experiment. What we used in our study was pure CBD isolate oil, says De Vita. Commercially available CBD products differ in their content and purity, so results might be different for different CBD products, depending on what other compounds they may or may not contain.
This study is published in Experimental and Clinical Psychopharmacology.

California Governor Signs Historic Bill to Legalize Smokable Hemp and CBD Edibles – PRNewswire
Posted: at 9:59 pm
NEW YORK, Oct. 19, 2021 /PRNewswire/ -- Nearly four years after legalizing recreational marijuana, California has finally opened the path to make smokable hemp and CBD-infused foods and beverages legal. Governor Gavin Newson signed the bill earlier this month to legalize the sale of consumables derived from hemp, creating a regulatory framework for the manufacture and sale of hemp products like smokable hemp, and hemp-infused foods. This new bill is welcome for many companies in the hemp industry, which has remained unregulated since the federal legalization of hemp and CBD. While companies are still waiting for California lawmakers to establish a tax scheme for hemp and hemp derivatives, they are allowed to sell their products in other states. Meanwhile, companies like Sundial Growers Inc. (NASDAQ:SNDL), Tilray Inc. (NASDAQ:TLRY), Organigram Holdings, Inc. (TSX:OGI) (NASDAQ:OGI), and HEXO Corp (NASDAQ:HEXO)are ramping up their production, distribution and marketing efforts, and Sixth Wave Innovations Inc. (OTCQB:SIXWF) (CSE:SIXW)is positioned to help them tie their efforts towards better yields.
The new legislation lays the groundwork for the manufacture of high-quality hemp products creating a significant opportunity for Sixth Wave Innovations Inc. (OTCQB:SIXWF) (CSE:SIXW), the company behind the Affinity system. Affinity is a cannabinoid purification system, which isolates specific cannabinoids from crude cannabis oil.
The company recently announced the shipment of the Affinity system from the contract manufacturer, Advanced Extraction Systems Inc. (AESI). AESI completed the wet testing for the system before shipping it to Sixth Wave for the final configuration. Once configured, Sixth Wave will deliver the system to Green Envy Extracts.
The system, once delivered, will be subject to a commissioning/optimization process. The Affinity system has a production capacity of 6kg of high purity distillate, every ten hours. Sixth Wave Innovations Inc. also plans to deliver a larger system in December. The system will be capable of about 14kg/10 hours or more than 30kg/day.
"Launching this small system provides Sixth Wave with a fast track to ensuring that every major design component is operating as expected and improvements are incorporated into the delivery of larger production units. The smaller system will be used to service new clients and support the company's quality improvement program. As an example, the company is ready to finalize the SOPs for processing high CBD hemp extracts and can already meet Canadian regulatory requirements for reduced THC levels. This includes promising data to indicate that THC compliant products for the USA are possible as well," said John Cowan, COO of Sixth Wave.
The collaboration between Sixth Wave and Green Envy is positioned to bring technical and commercial benefits for the two companies. The companies have plans to introduce the system in Michigan, Massachusetts, Oregon, and additional locations.

Tribe CBD Dirty Martini Recipe

Like the standard dry martini, nobody knows where the dirty martini was first invented. However, some sources claim this variation dates back to the early 1900s in an NYC bar. Also, legend has it that the dirty martini gained a ton of popularity when Franklin D. Roosevelt brought it to the White House.
Some historians believe the original dirty martini was created by mashing olives at the bottom of a stirring jar instead of adding brine. Supposedly this helps infuse more of the olives flavors into your drink. However, its far more common for modern bartenders to add some olive brine and olive garnishes.
As with all other martini recipes, the more traditional spirit is gin. However, its increasingly common for mixologists to use vodka in this drink, so please feel free to use whichever spirit you prefer.
Ingredients
2 oz gin or vodka
oz dry vermouth
oz olive brine
1 dropperful Tribe CBD oil
1 - 2 olives

Directions
Pour gin or vodka, dry vermouth, and olive brine in a stirring glass
Add an ice cube and stir until well chilled
Strain into a pre-chilled martini glass
Top with an olive garnish and Tribe CBD oil
Its no secret that the dirty martini is one of the saltiest cocktails in the books. On average, this briny beverage has a staggering 785 mg of sodium per serving. For reference, the FDA recommends Americans have just 2,300 mg of salt per day. So, if you have just three servings of this drink, then youve gone over your daily limit.

Well, to be honest, youve probably already gone over that 2,300 mg cutoff by dinnertime. Recent stats suggest most Americans consume around 3,400 mg of salt per day. Unfortunately, diets that are higher in salt are often associated with a greater risk of hypertension.
If youre concerned about your salt intake, you may want to skip this dirty martini recipe. Dieticians also recommend cooking at home to better control how much sodium you eat. If possible, always opt for unseasoned meats and veggies so you know exactly how much salt is going into each meal.
While Madison Ave execs enjoy vodka martinis for lunch, that meal plan doesnt work for most people. If you want a non-alcoholic way to power through your lunch break, wed recommend giving Tribes CBD Energy Shots a try. Each of these all-natural shots has a perfect blend of caffeine and hemp-derived CBD. While the caffeine will provide you with some extra pep, the CBD will keep those jitters at bay.

Can you be arrested for carrying CBD oil in the UK?… – The US Sun

A BRIT in Dubai is to serve 25 years in jail after he was caught with CDB oil.
Here's the legal status of the cannabis-derivative in the UK.
1
If a CBD product and its supplier meets the following requirements, then it is legal for you to buy and possess and you cannot be arrested for carrying CBD in the UK.
The CBD must be extracted from EU approved industrial-grade hemp strains to ensure the low THC content and that the oil is not considered a controlled substance under the Misuse of Drugs act.
It is also necessary for CBD producers to possess a licence to grow hemp or cannabis as well as permission from the UK Home Office.
However, it is not legal to carry CBD oil when flying to the UK unless you are one of the few British citizens who possess a medicinal CBD oil licence.
It is currently illegal to buy CBD oil in another country, including Holland, and fly to the UK with it and so you could be potentially arrested.
CBD flowers and hash products are legal to buy in the UK, as long as the THC content is less than 0.2% and the supplier and grower meet all necessary legal requirements as mentioned.
However, carrying CBD flowers and hash could potentially result in an arrest if the police officer is unaware of the legality of the product and determines the substance to be cannabis.
This grey area means that in order to avoid confusion, confiscation or potential arrest, you should avoid travelling with CBD flower and hash products.
While the general EU law permits the consumption of CBD products containing no more than 0.2% THC.
There are a few exceptions such as Croatia, and Slovenia, etc; that applies an outright ban to all cannabis and cannabis derived substances including CBD.
In Europe it's banned in:

Stress and anxiety: CBD oil for sleep and relaxation – Chiang Rai Times
Posted: at 5:02 pm
Today, scientists have found many benefits of using CBD oil and other CBD products daily.
Your sleep is a very regulated process. The so-called circadian rhythm controls your body and its functions, also known as the sleep-wake cycle.
It means that all processes are synchronized in 24 hours. In order for this to work, the bodys own (endogenous) signals are essential. Therefore, melatonin production also depends on it.
However, when stressed and anxiety, your sleep cycle is highly modified, affecting your whole organism.
Besides, as CBD is legal in Europe, you can now choose your favourite CBD flower online and ore it for delivery at your doorstep legally.
If you want to stay fit, you have to get enough sleep. Various processes occur during your sleep that allows your body to fit the next day and naturally remain healthy eventually!
Of course, there are exceptions. But sleep is a basic need and essential for your mental performance.
You go through a sleep cycle at night in two phases of sleep with different properties, divided into the non-REM and REM phases. They are visible from the waves in the electroencephalogram (EEG for short). The electrical activity of the brain is measured and recorded.
The non-REM phase is divided into stages 1-4. Stages 1 and 2 are considered light sleep with a low wake-up threshold. Stages 3 and 4 are defined as deep sleep and referred to as slow-wave sleep (SWS), as the amplitudes in the EEG become increasingly more significant and the frequency smaller and smaller. Stage 4 has a high wake-up threshold. As a result, the breathing, and heart rates increase in your body.
REM sleep, also known as dream sleep, is characterized by a very intensive eye movement (REM = rapid eye movement) and is very emotionally stressed. Nightmares can occur during this phase. In addition, your blood pressure and body temperature usually decrease during this phase.
A complete sleep cycle takes about 90 minutes and is repeated 3 4 times per night, depending on the person and sleep! Did you know that sleep phases shift with age? Light sleep increases (stages 1 and 2), the REM phase, deep sleep, and sleep duration decrease.
If you are only interested in finding out whether CBD makes you sleep better, you can test almost any CBD oil for sleep. We would advise you to use a broad-spectrum hemp extract because that way, you can benefit from the particular herbal synergies of the ingredients of the hemp plant that are convincing. Select one of our CBD oils, apply the recommendations, and off you go.
There is also CBD oil for sleeping with other active ingredients such as melatonin and/or valerian. More on this below (CBD & melatonin good combo for falling asleep and staying asleep?).
Melatonin is the hormone in your body that regulates your sleep rhythm. Your body produces it, depending on the incidence of light. Melatonin production is suppressed in daylight and significantly increased in the dark at night.
Therefore, for a night of good sleep, you must keep your surroundings as dark as possible because this is the only way your bodys melatonin production is maximized!
In this guide, we have explained how you can optimize your sleep behaviour and sleep. But, of course, you could expand the whole thing and use other CBD products from us, especially when you dont feel like having a bath every evening.
But what is the proper dosage of CBD oil? It differs from person to person. Various CBD sleep studies present the CBD sleep experiences of the test candidates.
But again, very specifically: Is there an ideal CBD oil dosage for sleep disorders?
There are still no specific instructions on the dosage for various complaints in most cases, even though the topic of CBD oil and sleep is no longer new. Unfortunately, the same still applies to CBD for sleeping in general and the correct dosage of CBD oil for sleep disorders.
But there is at least one kind of crutch you can use to help yourself here. In this case, its a simple method that everyone can use to find the ideal dose in a very uncomplicated way: Start low go slow!
That means: start with little concentration by choosing JustBobs CBD oil, and gradually increase until the desired effect occurs.
So, what are you waiting for to start using one of the best natural products, as CBD is now legally sold online on the best CBD online stores?

Football Coach From UK Jailed For 25 Years In Dubai For Possession Of CBD Oil – Complex

ComplexCon returns to Long Beach Nov. 6 - 7 with hosts J. Balvin and Kristen Noel Crawley, performances by A$AP Rocky and Turnstile, and more shopping and drops.
Secure your spot while tickets last!
A youth football coach based in Dubai has been sentenced to 25 years in prison after being caught with four small bottles of CBD vape oil, reports The Sun.
Billy Hood, 24, from London, was approached by police while getting something out of his car. Assuming they had the wrong person, he submitted to a drugs test, which came back negative, and gave them permission to search his car and apartment.
Hood told officers he had been driving a friend of his from England who he said must have left the oil in the door pocket of his car. Theformer semi-professionalfootballer, who used to play for Kensington & Ealing Borough and now coaches youth football in Dubai, insists he has never touched drugs or even smoked a cigarette. Unfortunately, they didnt believe him and he was taken to Dubais CID headquarters.
Dubai police officers claim they were responding to a tip-off when they searched his car and apartment, but found only the oil and some cash Hoodsays he was given by his employer while he set up a bank account. CBD oil, which is usually used to treat anxiety and nausea, is legal in the UK but because of the tiny trace amounts of THC in the oil, it is enough to be convicted of possession in Dubai.
According to campaigners, Billy was arrested on January 31 before being pressured into signing a confession written in Arabic, which it turns out included the more serious offenses ofselling and trafficking the oil.
Speaking with The Sun, Billys mum Brenda said: I dont think theres a word in the dictionary that describes the pain Im going through. I cant talk about it without tears forming in my eyes. Its too hard to take in. The odd time he tries to phone. We love him so much.
She added: This is not our Billy;he is 100 per cent innocent. There has been no help from the embassy. We have been in touch with them non-stop. Ive contacted them every day. The most Ive got from them is that hes ok.
Hoods family arecurrently being helped by a charity that helps Westerners who have been given long prison sentences in the UAE.
Founder and CEO, Radha Stirling, explained: He was arrested and accused of trafficking, selling and being in the possession of CBD oil, which is illegal in the UAE.He had been in prison for four days and was forced and coerced into signing a confession, which is commonplace in Dubai. Being in possession of CBD oil would be a very, very small sentence, possibly a few years maximum, but because theyve added trafficking and selling in there it has become 25 years.
The only evidence is the confession which was in Arabic and he didnt know what he was signing. Billy only had a very small amount of the CBD oil, but within the oil there are microscopic trace elements of the active ingredient THC and thats enough for a conviction. Its incredible, 25 years for having an oil that cant even get you high, its extreme.
Radha says a lawyer for Hood will lodge an appeal and her organisation plans to lobby the British government for help in a bid to have the sentence overturned.
Terrified Billy added in his statement: I do not smoke vape pens, cigarettes or even shisha. For me to be accused of promoting and selling drugs in a country that has the same beliefs and values as me is very upsetting as it affects my future.
A Foreign & Commonwealth Officespokesperson commented: We are giving consular support to a British man who has been imprisoned in the UAE.
The UAEis infamous for handing down lengthy prison sentences for drug-related offenses and drug trafficking can potentially be punished with the death penalty. Even possessing trace amounts of illegal drugs can land you a minimum four-year prison sentence.
Billy Hoods familyhas set up aGoFundMe page, which has so far raised almost11,000.
