Welcome to the Golden Rulethe hidden gem of Ambleside.

Tucked away off the main road in the heart of the Lake District, this Grade II listed traditional multi-room pub is ever popular with residents and visitors, the young and old, walkers, climbers and mountain bikers, artists and writers. With no background music, no noisy games machines, no big screen televisions, and no meals, the Rule is just the place to relax and have a drink and a chat.

Enjoy the extensive range of cask beers, draught lagers and ciders, fine wines, malt whiskies, gins, and other spirits in comfortable traditionally furnished rooms, in the secluded sun-trap beer garden, or by the open fire.

Take advantage of the free WiFi, daily newspapers, books and magazines, selection of board games and dart board. Dogs are welcome throughout and water bowls are always available.
