Fighting for human rights both in America and worldwide, that is the meaning behind the National Civil Rights Museum's annual Freedom Awards.

"Breaking Barriers, Advancing Freedom" is the theme behinds this years awards that will be handed out Tuesday, Dec. 2, at the Cannon Center in Memphis.

Journalist Charlayne Hunter Gault will receive the International Freedom Award. Civil Rights organizer Bob Moses will be given the National Freedom Award. Baseball icon Frank Robinson will be honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award for Sports.

NBC News Tom Brokaw will be awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award for Journalism. Brokaw started his career with NBC back in 1966. After receiving the Presidential Medal of Freedom, our nation's highest civilian honor, Brokaw sat down with WMC Action News 5's Joe Birch about what the Freedom Award means to him.
