Nazareth 5, Freedom 1 Rapid Recap

Nazareth softball team improved to 4-0 this season with a 5-1 home win over Freedom on Saturday afternoon at Nazareth Area Intermediate School.

Top performers: Adams went 3-for-4 with an RBI for Nazareth. Edwards had two hits and a pair of RBIs for the Blue Eagles. Junior third baseman Paige Hahn gave Nazareth a 2-0 lead in the third inning with a two-run double. Hann had two hits and Esterly reached base twice for Nazareth. Sophomore pitcher Samantha Gorkos struck out nine and didn't walk a batter in seven innings to earn the victory.

Patriots third baseman Makenzie Smith went 2-for-3 with an RBI single. Second baseman Juliana Presto added two hits for Freedom.

What it means: The Blue Eagles moved to 4-0 on the season and 3-0 in the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference. Nazareth hosts Pleasant Valley on Monday. The Patriots fell to 0-2 overall and 0-1 in the EPC. Freedom hosts East Stroudsburg South on Monday.
