TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Sep 17, 2013) - The Fraser Institute will release its Economic Freedom of the World 2013 Annual Report on Wednesday, September 18 at 6:30 a.m. (Eastern).

The report compares key indicators of economic freedom for 151 countries and territories around the world based on size of government, taxation, rule of law and property rights, and regulation using data from 2011 (most recent year available).

"Research shows that people living in countries with high levels of economic freedom enjoy greater prosperity, more political and civil liberties, and longer life spans," said Fred McMahon, Dr. Michael A. Walker Research Chair in Economic Freedom with the Fraser Institute.

"In contrast, countries with reduced levels of economic freedom see lower living standards for families and fewer economic opportunities."

A news release with additional information will be issued via Marketwired at 6:30 a.m. (Eastern) on Wednesday, September 18.

The full report will also be available as a free PDF download at http://www.fraserinstitute.org and http://www.freetheworld.com.

McMahon will be in Toronto and available for media interviews the day of the release.
