KOTA KINABALU: A police report has been lodged following a viral video claiming that a student in Sabah's east coast Lahad Datu had died after getting a Covid-19 vaccination.

Sabah Health director Dr Rose Nani Mudin said the department and its Lahad Datu office had investigated the claims by a woman in a viral video and found that they were totally untrue.

The claims of the individual have created panic and concern among the people, particularly parents and teenagers planning to receive the vaccine," she said in a statement uploaded to the department's Facebook page Wednesday (Sept 29).

She urged parents not to believe such unfounded claims being circulated on social media.

Dr Mudin said that most of the Covid-19 patients needing intensive care were those who were not vaccinated, based on the statistics in the state.

Those needing more information about the Covid-19 vaccines can contact the Sabah Health Department through its hotline at 019-605 1196.
