It wasn't an ideal Thursday for Apple News when Tesla CEO Elon Musk confessed that he had discontinued following Apple News.

Apple News is the Cupertino-based company's news aggregator platform that helps optimise content for iOS, macOS, iPadOS and watchOS users. Articles from various known news publications such as The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg BusinessWeek, Los Angeles Times, The New Yorker, People, Rolling Stone, Vanity Fair, Vogue etc also find a place on the platform. While Apple News focuses on every-day news, Apple News Plus has a collection of detailed magazine-style feature stories.

On Friday, Ross Gerber - who is the President and CEO of Gerber Kawasaki Wealth & Investment Management - took to Twitter to express his disappointment at Apple News. Calling it a major source of negativity in his life, the investment advisor, in his post, mentioned that he had cancelled Apple News.

Soon after, the company saw itself in a legal battle with the Fortnite creator Epic Games for allegedly abusing the market dominance for mobile apps. Calling Epic right, Musk said the App Store commission was "a de facto global tax on the Internet".
