On Tuesday, the Cayman Islands Minister of Tourism, Kenneth Bryan, was selected as the new chairman of the Caribbean Tourism Organization at the annual general meeting of the group in Grand Cayman.

Bryan as part of his new responsibilities assumes the chairmanship of the Council of Ministers of CTO for the coming two years by putting back Lisa Cummins, outgoing chairman and Barbados minister of tourism.

He said that he feels honored and thrilled at the same time to take over the responsibility of the CTO chairmanship. Bryan also said that he recognize, just like other members that there is an urgency to have some improvement and restructuring, mainly in terms of air travel and marketing.

Bryan also mentioned that he is all prepared to take on the challenge, in partnership with his regional colleagues, of discovering new ways for addressing any problem they have within the organization to get competence and focus better.

Long the primary group marketing and promoting Caribbean destinations for travel, CTO in 2019, shut down New York and London regional offices. Conventionally, the organization has played a major role in gathering data and research on Caribbean travel.

Besides, the office closures, the leaders of CTO launched a comprehensive audit of its Barbados headquarters to considerably decrease operational spending. Bryan commended Cummins for looking into CTOs chairmanship during the COVID-19 pandemic.
