For some of us the mere memory of math class is enough to send shivers down our spine, but for others numbers are fascinating. They are a way for us to find order in a chaotic world, a way to tap into the logical side of our minds, numbers can be brilliant. If any of this resonates with you, then as you probably already know, you have a mind for numbers. There are lots of ways that you can exercise this part of your brain, but arguably the most fun way is through number games. These are some of those games that you might enjoy.

Blackjack

Blackjack requires quick mental math skills

The rules to this game are really simple and you only need two people to play, or if you're on your own then you can always play online. The game begins with each player being dealt two cards, you take a look at your cards and add them up. You want your cards to add up to as close to 21 as possible, without going over. If your cards are close then you can choose to stick and see what the dealer has in their hand. If your cards are further away then you can twist and get another card until you're close enough to 21, or you go bust. Blackjack is the perfect game for those who are lightning fast at mental maths. Algebra might not be your strong point, but if you can add up to 21 then you've got what's necessary to do well at this game. If you want to play online then looking for a bonus is a good way to make sure that your play money goes as far as possible. They're easy to find as long as you're happy to sign up to a new site to play.

2048

If you're after a mobile game that you can pull out in any dull moment then 2048 is a great one. The beauty of this game is in its simplicity, your numbers simply double until you can't anymore. You'll start with a selection of tiles with the number 2 on them. If you slide the tiles together they'll multiply to make 4. The same will happen with your tiles marked 4, they'll multiply together to make 16. Additional tiles will add every round, so it's up to you to make sure that you can always make a path for like tiles to meet one another. If you make it all the way to 2048 then you'll have beaten the game, but in all honesty, if you can make it to the tile before then you'll have done well!

Sudoku

One of the original fascinating numbers games, sudoku is easy to find anywhere. You can play online, on your mobile, in a dedicated sudoku book, or even in the back of most newspapers. For those who've never played before, the idea is simple. You start off with a 3x3 square, filled with 9 more individual 3x3 squares. Within each row and column, you can only place the numbers 1-9 once each. The same rule applies within each of the small 3x3 squares. In the beginning, there'll be some numbers already filled in for you to get you started. Depending on how much of a challenge you want your game to be, there'll be more numbers (easier) or fewer numbers (harder). You can pick up whole puzzle books of these games for just a couple of dollars which are usually pocket-sized so you can carry them around with you.
