Given the overwhelming evidence in support of evolution as an explanation of the biological diversity on Earth and the origin of new species and the lack of any evidence that this is not the case, why is the concept of evolution still controversial. Certainly one reason are the misconceptions that people have about how it happens and the vast number of observations which support this explanation for biological change from DNA and molecular evidence to individual variation to populations and new species. To some these ideas conflict with ideas of faith and seem inconsistent. The challenge then is not to refute or deny the observable facts but to put them into context with one #39;s faith, much the way that people had to realize that the Earth is not the center of the Universe after Copernicus.
