Total Solar Eclipse Australia. Nov 13th 2012. The total solar eclipse happened at 0638 AEST (2038 GMT) and it cast a shadow over a 90 mile-wide area of Australia. It is the first total solar eclipse in Australia for a decade. A total solar eclipse occurs when the moon completely obscures the sun and it appears dark for about two minutes. Up to 60000 people were reportedly expected to watch the eclipse in Cairns. Eclipse watchers were advised to wear safety glasses or to use cardboard projection devices to sheild the sun #39;s rays from onlookers #39; eyes. The last total eclipse was on July 11, 2010, again over the South Pacific. The next will take place on March 20, 2015, occurring over Iceland, the Faroe Islands and Norway #39;s far northern Svalbard archipelago.From:SuperUrbanWizardViews:9 0ratingsTime:04:29More inScience Technology
