Ron Paul Gives Son Rand Some 2016 Advice on Leno: ‘Be Very Cautious…’

During his appearance on the Tonight Show last night, Ron Paul offered up some advice for his son, Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), should he decide to run for president in 2016. Be very cautious, Paul suggested, you could get elected.

Jay Leno began by asking Paul if he thought his son would run in 2016. Ive never talked to him about it, Paul responded, a comment that got a disbelieving groan from Julia Louis-Dreyfus, who was sitting beside him on the couch.

Paul added that he was surprised that Rand did so well when he ran for Senate in 2010, saying he didnt do it with any serious consultation with me. He credited tea party groups with delivering his son the Senate victory, people who were sick and tired of both parties because they didnt trust either party.

Ron Paul has already seen his son Rand gain a broader level of respect and mainstream acceptance than anything he enjoyed during his multiple presidential campaigns. Perhaps he really does fear that his son has what it takes to be president some day.
