Penguins vs. Canucks Betting Odds, Picks, Prediction (December 4, 2021) – Pittsburgh Hockey Now

On Saturday night, the Pittsburgh Penguins (10-8-5) will look to snap a three-game losing streak when they visit the Vancouver Canucks (8-14-2) at Rogers Arena. Its the second and final meeting between the teams this season. Pittsburgh defeated Vancouver 4-1 on Nov. 24 in Pittsburgh.

Lets get into our Penguins vs. Canucks betting pick with player prop predictions, odds, and analysis for this December 4, 2021 matchup.

The Penguins season thus far has been full of fits and starts. Pittsburgh has lost three straight (0-2-1), which followed a five-game winning streak, which followed a three-game losing streak. They outscored their opponents by a 16-2 margin during the winning streak, but have been outscored by a 27-11 output in the two losing streaks.

Either the offense disappears, the defense disappears, or both. When they are on their game, the Penguins can beat anybody. When something goes awry, however, they become a much easier team to play against.

The Canucks have won two straight for just the second time this season and for the first since mid-October. These two wins have come on the heels of a 1-8-1 streak that left the Canucks with the second-worst record in the Western Conference, eight points out of a playoff spot.

Here are the lines for Penguins vs. Canucks at FanDuel Sportsbook:

Spread: Penguins (-1.5 +172), Canucks (+1.5 -215)Moneyline: Penguins (-154), Canucks (+128)Over/Under: Over 5.5 (-112), Under 5.5 (-108)

The reason you get good odds on this play is because the Penguins have only led five games after the first period. (They are 4-0-1 in those five). Normally, they play to a tie after the opening period (12 times), usually, 0-0, too. So, why do we like this bet? First, its about time for the Pittsburgh shift from struggling offense to explosive offense. Secondly, Vancouver is not good in the first period. The Canucks have only led three games this season after one period and have been trailing 11 times. Thirdly, looking for a good trend? The Canucks have lost 10 straight first periods as an underdog following a road win.

Conor Garland has been pretty consistent for the Canucks this season and has seven points in the last 10 games. Four of those points have been goals, and Garland has scored in a little over 29% of all Vancouvers games. His seven goals scored this season is tied for second-best on the Canucks behind only J.T. Miller.

We expect Tristan Jarry to bounce back after a tough outing Wednesday in Edmonton and play more like the way hes played in every other game this season. If Jarry is on, as he previously had been for weeks, itll be tough for the Canucks to score much, if at all, against Pittsburgh.

Combine that with eight of the last 10 games at Rogers Arena going under the total, and you have a seemingly good bet here.

The Penguins want to snap a losing streak. The Canucks want to win three straight for the first time this season. Vancouver has been far more inconsistent than Pittsburgh as well. We like Pittsburgh in this one.

Prediction: Penguins 4, Canucks 1
