Ascension Sacred Heart opening new 24-hour ER facility in Navarre on Tuesday – The Northwest Florida Daily News

Ascension Sacred Heart is opening a new, freestanding ER in Navarre this week.

The ER facility, located at 7334 Navarre Parkway,will open at 7 a.m. Tuesday to provide 24-hour emergency services for children and adults.

It includes 13 treatment rooms and twotrauma rooms staffed by emergency medicine physicians, nursesand respiratory therapists.The ER will provide the services of a lab, CT scanner and X-ray imaging, and the facility also will have a separate waiting area and treatment rooms for children.

The ER facility will be operated by Ascension Sacred Heart Pensacola as well as the StuderFamily Childrens Hospital at Ascension Sacred Heart, the region's only pediatric hospital and pediatric trauma center.

"We feel we can meet a community need in Navarre to have a freestanding ER but also one that is supported by our unique, highly specialized services in Pensacola, including our pediatric surgical services at Children's Hospital, and our advanced capabilities in treating strokes, heart attacks, and orthopedic trauma in Pensacola," Dawn Rudolph, president of Ascension Sacred Heart Pensacola, said in a statement. "It's a beautiful new facility and we have assembled an outstanding medical team to provide 24-hour care to the Navarre area."

The Navarre ER has a helipad for rapid transport to Ascension Sacred Heart Pensacola or Studer Family Children's Hospital for patients who require emergency surgery or the services of an intensive care unit.

The new ER cost $11 million and will create about 50 jobs. It will be staffed by board-certified emergency medicine physicians and nurses who received specialized training in the pediatric emergency department at the Studer Family Children's Hospital.

The new facility is the latest effort by Ascension Sacred Heart to extend its services into south Santa Rosa County.

In 2017, the health system opened an outpatient medical facility along U.S. Highway 98 in Tiger Point that provides imaging facilities, physician offices and rehabilitation services. Also in 2017, Ascension Sacred Heart opened a new Pediatric Care Center in Gulf Breeze.

We want to continue to make it easier for patients to receive the care they need when andwhere they need it, Will Condon, president of the Studer Family Children's Hospital, said in a statement.
