Brazilian iGaming Summit and Latam Affiliates expand their reach, together with the football market, by participating in BFEXPO 2022 – iGaming Brazil
Posted: September 7, 2022 at 6:30 pm
With the subject increasingly present in the daily lives of Brazilians, the Brazilian iGaming Summit (BiS) gained status as the largest sports betting event in the country due to its successful first editions and the bold planning for the next year.
Afiliados Latam was no different. The launch event hosted some of the leading companies and professionals in the affiliation market. Thus, Jerich Eventos remains attentive to opportunities to increase the reach of its brands and contribute more and more to the national industry.
For this reason, both events are being represented at the main football congress in Latin America, Brasil Futebol Expo 2022. Conceived by the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF), the BFEXPO 2022 program started last Sunday (4) and will end on next Thursday (8). The event is taking place at Pro Magno Centro de Eventos, in So Paulo (SP).
In addition, the Brazilian iGaming Summit and Afiliados Latam will be present at the Brasil Sports Betting Summit, which is part of the BFEXPO 2022 agenda and takes place on the 6th and 7th.
With the participation of internationally renowned professionals, these two days of debates will focus on the unfolding of the regulatory process for sports betting in Brazil, as well as on all the potential that can be unlocked in a year that will end with the Qatar World Cup, in November and December.
On Tuesday, the public will be able to follow the seminar Regulation of Sports Betting with a focus on Latin America. The following day, the lecture focuses on the national sports scene with the panel Sports Betting Market in Brazil Opportunities and Challenges for Football Clubs and Operators.
As highlighted by Alessandro Valente (President of Jerich Eventos, the company responsible for organizing BiS and Latam Affiliates), it is essential to work on the brand, not only in the period before the event, but throughout the year, especially in events such as BFEXPO.
In addition to the Brazilian iGaming Summit, a novelty that added even more value to this years event, Afiliados Latam is also attending BFEXPO 2022. We are also very happy to continue working on the Afiliados Latam brand with the market, being able to share this news with those who could not be with us this year.
Jerich Eventos, organizer of the Brazilian iGaming Summit, carried out in 2022 an update of its previous editions, a novelty for the iGaming market: a third day of event, with Afiliados Latam, the first exclusive meeting of the iGaming affiliate market, which includes betting sports, casino games and lotteries.
A unique opportunity to meet professionals from important companies in the sector, experienced speakers in affiliate marketing and digital media in general, in addition to hundreds of affiliates and a perfect networking environment.
Focused on the sports betting, lotteries and affiliates segments, BiS has established itself as an international reference for receiving politicians, regulators, operators, authorities, ambassadors and representatives of world players.
Thus, the objective of BiS 2023 will be to offer, once again, relevant, updated content that helps to project the future of the national market. In addition, the next event will take place in a much larger space and with the capacity to adequately accommodate the growing demand of the industry.

Delaware court denies Musk request to delay Twitter trial but approves request to add whistleblower claims – CNBC

A Delaware court denied Elon Musk's request to delay the trial over his attempt to abandon a $44 billion deal to buy Twitter, according to a new filing released Wednesday.
But the billionaire Tesla CEO will be allowed to add claims from a Twitter whistleblower to his countersuit, Chancellor Kathaleen McCormick ruled.
The trial is expected to begin Oct. 17, earlier than the mid-November date Musk's team requested in its latest push.
"I previously rejected Defendants' arguments in response to Twitter's motion to expedite, making clear that the longer the delay until trial, the greater the risk of irreparable harm to Twitter," McCormick wrote. "I am convinced that even four weeks' delay would risk further harm to Twitter too great to justify."
Still, McCormick said Musk's request to amend his counterclaim clears the relatively "low bar" of the court's rules for doing so. Musk's lawyers asked to add claims related to the whistleblower complaint recently made public by Twitter's former head of security, Peiter "Mudge" Zatko. Musk's team argued the complaint, which detailed what Zatko alleged were egregious security failings by the company, would show Twitter breached its terms of the merger agreement if true.
Shortly after Zatko's allegations became public, Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal said in a memo to employees first reported by CNN that while they were still reviewing the complaint, it "is a false narrative that is riddled with inconsistencies and inaccuracies, and presented without important context."
Musk originally said he wants to exit the deal because he's received insufficient reassurance from Twitter about the percentage of its monetizable users that are actually spam accounts.
McCormick said Musk's team would be entitled to only "incremental discovery" based on the new allegations, including "targeted document discovery and minimal additional experts and fact witnesses."
"We are hopeful that winning the motion to amend takes us one step closer to the truth coming out in that courtroom," Musk lawyer Alex Spiro of Quinn Emanuel said in a statement.
"We look forward to presenting our case in Court beginning on October 17th and intend to close the transaction on the price and terms agreed upon with Mr. Musk," a Twitter spokesperson said in a statement.

Elon Musk pans Amazon’s ‘Lord of the Rings,’ escalating feud with Jeff Bezos – New York Post
Posted: at 6:28 pm
Elon Musk took a swipe at billionaire rival Jeff Bezos over Amazons much-anticipated debut of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, declaring author J.R.R. Tolkien was turning in his grave.
Almost every male character so far is a coward, a jerk or both, the Tesla CEO tweeted to his 105 million followers on Monday.
Only Galadriel is brave, smart and nice, Musk added, referring to the elven princess played by actress Morfydd Clark, the younger version of the character made famous by Cate Blanchett.
The first two episodes premiered on Amazon Prime Video on Friday and drew 25 million viewers worldwide, leading Bezos to tout the massive debut.
Some 1.8 million US households tuned in to the premiere of the first episode within the first three days of its rollout while another 1.3 million watched the second episode, making it the highest debut of any show on Amazon Prime, according to the analytics firm Samba TV.
Go Middle-earth! Bezos wrote in a tweet hailing the large viewership.
Last week, Bezos made a surprise appearance at the global premiere of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power in London.
Almost every male character so far is a coward, a jerk or both. Only Galadriel is brave, smart and nice.
The 58-year-old Bezos arrived on the red carpet arm in arm with his girlfriend, Lauren Sanchez.
His attendance at the showing of the first two episodes was seen as a signal of how invested Amazon, which reportedly spent some $1 billion producing the series, is in its success.
The Seattle-based e-commerce giant has also forayed into streaming with its Amazon Prime Video offering. The Rings of Power rollout pits Amazon against the likes of Netflix and HBO.
Musk is known to devour science fiction and fantasy books, including Tolkiens seminal series.
In 2009, he told The New Yorker that when he was a young boy growing up in South Africa, he would read books to combat loneliness.
The heroes of the books I read, The Lord of the Rings and the Foundation series, always felt a duty to save the world,Musk said.
Musk and Bezos have a history of locking horns. The two men are in fierce competition to grab market share in the emerging space tourism and exploration industry.
Last year, NASA picked Musks outfit, SpaceX, to build a lunar lander system to transport astronauts to the moon prompting the companys main competitor, Bezos Blue Origin, to file a lawsuit.
Blue Origin is also aiming to develop its own satellite internet service that will compete with SpaceXs Starlink which led Musk to accuse Bezos of being a copycat.
Bezos space company has also tried to stop SpaceX from building a second-generation Starlink satellite network.
Last year, when Musk surpassed Bezos as the worlds richest person, he mockingly declared that he would send the Amazon founder a silver medal.
Musk is currently the worlds richest person with a net worth of $219 billion. Bezos is the second-richest with a fortune valued by Forbes at $171 billion.

Elon Musk Lands The Hottest Gig in Hollywood – TheStreet

Elon Musk is currently the most influential CEO in the world with colossal responsibilities.
He is involved in four companies that each have the ambition to disrupt and dominate their industry: Tesla (TSLA) , SpaceX, The Boring Company and Neuralink. The promises made by his companies are enormous.
Within the next two months, EV maker Tesla has promised to roll out to at least 100,000 people the latest update of Full Self-Driving (FSD), its driver assistance system, which has advanced features and is supposed to bring closer its vehicles to autonomy.
The automaker also has the second edition of its Artificial intelligence day on Sept. 30. Musk is to present a functional humanoid robot there, which is scheduled to be marketed beginning in 2023.
Neuralink, which designs and installs brain-machine interfaces, will provide an update on its work on Oct. 31. The objective of its technology is to strengthen cognitive abilities by interacting directly a person's brain. The billionaire and Neuralink tested their chip on a pig called Gertrude onAug. 28, 2020.
For Musk, Neuralink will soon make it possible to save memories, and potentially to download them into another body or into a robot. Its technology, the company said, should also provide a better understanding of neurological diseases.
But the firm has fallen behind the competition. Synchron, which is developing its own brain-machine interface technology, obtained regulatory approvals from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in 2021 to test its chip on humans.
In addition, Musk is also in a legal battle with Twitter (TWTR) after he abruptly withdrew its $44 billion bid made on April 14 to acquire the microblogging website. The two parties are currently fighting each other through subpoenas. Twitter wants the court to force Musk to keep his original pledge. Musk says the platform lies about the number of fake accounts, or spam bots, populating the social network. A quick five-day trial is scheduled for October 17 if the two sides do not reach an agreement by then.
As if all this were not enough Musk has just announced that he now has a new task to accomplish: he will open a show by comedian Chris Rock, who has been in the news for several months after the Slapgate scandal.
Scroll to Continue
Last March during the Oscars, actor Will Smith, who would later be crowned best actor for his role as the father of tennis stars Venus and Serena Williams in King Richard, created a resounding scandal by slapping comedian Chris Rock on stage after a bad joke about his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith. Despite Smith's apology, tensions remain between the two men. Since then, the scent of scandal has made Rock shows among the most popular and most coveted tickets in Hollywood.
"@Chrisrock invited me to open for one of his shows. Thanks Chris!" Musk posted on Twitter on Sept. 3.
The richest man in the world seems to have accepted the invitation:"I will try not to flounder too much," Musk added.
The serial entrepreneur did not provide further details. It does not give, for example, the date of the show which it will open or the place where it will take place. Rock is currently touring across the country and in Europe. From Sept. 7-12 he and fellow comedian Dave Chapelle will be on tour in Europe (Netherlands, Germany and Denmark), according to Ticketmaster. And for the rest of the month, the comedian will resume his shows alone in Detroit, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh before New Orleans and New York in early October.
Musk's announcement came as a comment to a post from a video clip from his May 2021 Saturday Night Live hosting gig. He's heard saying "I reinvented electric cars and I'm sending people to Mars in a rocket ship. Did you think I was also going to be a chill normal dude?"
The announcement of the billionaire who has nearly 105 million fans on the platform has completely electrified his fans.
"Great news!!! ," one Twitter user commented with a picture of Rock and Musk.
"You will do well, Elon. Youre pretty hilarious," another user posted.
"No slapping," another user quipped.
"I want to be at this show," added another fan.

Elon Musk’s case against Twitter may be helped by whistleblower’s claims – NPR

Tesla CEO Elon Musk's legal team argues that allegations by Twitter's ex-security chief give him reason to pull out of his agreement to buy the Twitter. Here, Musk speaks at a meeting of energy, oil and gas executives in Norway on August 29.
Billionaire Elon Musk's chances of walking away unscathed from his commitment to buy Twitter just improved, thanks to recent allegations from the company's former security chief.
Twitter looks like a cybersecurity dumpster fire in a whistleblower complaint submitted to federal regulators by Peiter Zatko. He complains of lax security practices that put users' personal data at risk and the social media company in danger of violating a settlement agreement with federal regulators. He also alleges that the Indian government forced Twitter to hire two government agents who had access to sensitive data.
Soon after Zatko's concerns became public, Musk referenced them in new legal claims. The Tesla CEO now argues that Twitter is damaged goods and by hiding such egregious problems, it committed fraud.
Twitter calls Zatko's complaints inaccurate, inconsistent and opportunistic.
Twitter sued Musk in July after he tried to break off the agreement to buy the company for $44 billion. Musk claimed that the company had understated the prevalence of botsor spam accountson its platform and that was justification for his change of heart.
Given that Musk had waived due diligence when he signed the agreementnot to mention that it was he, and not the company, who had sought the acquisitionmany experts believed he had a flimsy legal case.
His legal claims "just always seemed like such an incredibly long shot argument to begin with," said Ann Lipton, a business and securities law professor at Tulane University. "The other allegations hair-raising data-security and intellectual-property problems those at least have a lot more potential."
The trial is scheduled to begin October 17 in Delaware. Musk has asked the judge for a delay so that his legal team could gather more information about what went on inside Twitter.
Twitter has claimed that any delay hurts its business and shareholders.
Zatko, who also goes by his hacker handle "Mudge," worked as Twitter's head of security from 2020 until January. During that time, he says, company leaders including CEO Parag Agrawal ignored his warnings about serious security flaws. In a whistleblower complaint filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Federal Trade Commission and the Department of Justice, Zatko alleges that executives ignored these problems.
Twitter said Zatko's complaint is a "false narrative" and inaccurate, and that he was fired for poor performance.
The company is under an FTC consent agreement, signed in 2011 after hackers repeatedly seized control and tweeted from a handful of users' accounts. At the time, the agency said Twitter "failed to take reasonable steps" to safeguard its system. The agreement requires the company to maintain a comprehensive security system and be truthful with users about the extent to which it protects their personal information.
After Zatko's allegations became public, Musk filed a new letter to terminate the contract to buy Twitter. His lawyers argue that, if the allegations are true, the FTC could fine Twitter millions of dollars for violating the consent agreement.
"Twitter has already paid a fine of $150 million for violating an aspect of that decree, and Facebook recently paid $5 billion for similar user data violations," the letter notes.
That risk, previously hidden, gives Musk the right to walk away, it says.
Zatko is scheduled to be deposed by Musk's lawyers on Sept. 9. The following week, he's slotted to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee.
If Zatko's claims are accurate, "they may show dangerous data privacy and security risks for Twitter users around the world," the top lawmakers on the committee, Democrat Dick Durbin of Illinois and and Republican Chuck Grassley of Iowa, said in a statement, pledging the committee would "get to the bottom of these alarming allegations."
Senators have also asked the FTC to investigate Twitter. The agency has declined to comment.

Remember when we had a healthy middle class and good-paying jobs with benefits? Company presidents made a very good living. Fast forward to today with huge corporations worth billions run by CEOs who make millions.
Remember Ronald Reagan and his trickle down theory? The Right still claims it works, but we know better. Republicans did away with unions, resulting in lower wages and fewer benefits. The Supreme Court in 2008 overturned key campaign finance rules and sided with a conservative advocacy group, Citizens United. For the first time, corporations had a First Amendment right to spend unlimited amounts of money on political races. Super PACs and front groups, like Citizens United, ran attack ads against candidates hostile to corporate interests. Those groups spent nearly $3 billion on attack ads in the 2020 electiona very good reason not to just depend on TV ads to determine who to vote for.

Corporations and the super-rich have an enormous influence on our elected officials. They threaten to spend millions to oppose anyone who stands up to corporations, so nothing has gotten done on climate change and prescription drug costs until Democrats recently passed the Inflation Reduction Act, which includes both issues and more. Not one Republican voted for it.
Last year was a great year for the 0.0002 percent of Americans who are billionaires (724 ultra-elites). Elon Musks personal fortune rose to $340 billion in 2021 while people worldwide struggled to survive. Jeff Bezos net worth rose to $197 billion last year. This year, Bezos commissioned the worlds largest superyacht, costing half a billion dollars. However, its too tall to go under a bridge and he cant get it out of the Dutch port where it was built.
As a former resident of the wonderful town of Tekamah, I still read the Plaindealer as often as I can.
Recent letters to you have been interesting to say the least, and I would like to add a few options to what has been said, being mindful that I havent been able to read all of the opinions sent into you.
Ive seen several letters from Donnette Jackson and have read them with an open mind and have considered a lot of what she has said.
The thing that I find so crazy and anymore, its just typical of the Democratic/liberals, to accuse the Right side of the aisle of spreading lies and conspiracy theories, yet they can never just reply back with any factual information.
So here is my opinion on some of this.
Mrs. Jackson made a 150 percent true comparison of the current administration and the one under President Trump. Under Trump, inflation was the second lowest since World War II; under President Biden its the second highest in history, and thats consumer and wholesale inflation. Where is the lie and conspiracy theory in that?
When President Biden came to office we were energy independent and were, in fact, a net exporter of crude oil, now (at one time) we have had record gas and diesel prices, which effects absolutely everything. Wheres the lies and conspiracy theories in that? Its all true and we are all living proof of it.
Does the Left think this country runs on magical fairy dust? Apparently they do.
Supply chain issues, where does one even start on that one? The proof is in the shortages on our stores shelves and not just grocery stores, it affects everything including the cars we try to drive.
A stock market that keeps falling and making people lose money and my favorite subject is an absolutely horrible domestic policy that includes a wide open Southern border. By the time this poser in the Oval Office gets done, we will have over 6 million undocumented illegal immigrants in this country. I ask the Left side, how is that even a thing that you people support? What will you do when we have another terrorist attack on this country, who will you blame? Let me guess--Trump, yet he had record low immigration. Prove me wrong.
And another great one is his foreign policy. Isnt it great being on the precipice of the chances of major wars in the world? No one respects us under this current administration. Does anyone remember the last time a member of Congress visited Twain? China got all puffed up, but Bill Clinton had the courage to basically park two carrier battle groups in the area. What happened now? Biden said nothing, and we have watched China flex their muscles. Under President Trump, China was under control and North Korea stopped launching missiles; now they are getting ready for another underground nuclear test.
Russia threatens the use of nuclear weapons. I guarantee that would have never happened under Trump.
We had a politically incorrect President called Trump. He said things, and I believe he did it just to make the liberals and the media go nuts, but he loves this country and was putting America first here and on the foreign stage.
May God bless this great country, the United States of America.

Aquarius to Libra: See Zodiac air signs and the type of humor that appeals to them – PINKVILLA
Posted: at 6:26 pm
It is said that laughter is the best medicine and it couldn't be truer. After all, great sense of humour is also deemed one of the most attractive qualities in someone you love. But there are other benefits to having a good sense of humour such as it benefiting your psychological health and mental health. So, without further ado, from Aquarius to Libra, see Zodiac air signs and the type of humor that appeals to them the most.
Libra
Deadpan humor is the sort that most appeals to this zodiac sign. Libra has a sharp wit and they use their intelligence to pass comments on people using dry humor. The best part is that during this process, they have a completely unemotional and straight-faced countenance, which confuses people. This air sign tends to make irony the champion in the way they pass jokes.
Aquarius
As one of the most arrogant of air signs, Aquarius borders on narcissism and true to their core personality, Satire is the style of humor that best suits them. Most Aquarius are intellectuals and they do their best to stay on top of present events. Their humor is peppered with pop culture references, trending jokes, memes and the fun they poke at mundane everyday situations. They seek to impress people with their wit along with making them laugh.
Gemini
Dark humour is the type of humour a Gemini is skilled at, as they can pass controversial comments that do not resonate with everyone. Most of them are closet stand-up comedians who wish to titivate the crowd with their jokes, alas, their style of humor does not evoke cheers from the audiences. This is mainly because it is deemed morose and cruel at times with an edge of chauvinism. It is more often than not, politically incorrect.
Disclaimer: While these attributes are generic, these are primarily focused on your zodiacal qualities; all the above traits may not necessarily hold true for you.

Cockroaches are generally not met with squeals of delight, but even those suffering from the most severe form of katsaridaphobia would agree this latest invention could be a good one. Remote-controlled cyborg cockroaches, which are part insect and part machine, have been created by scientists hoping the innovation could be used to inspect radioactive sites. One of the scientists involved said: Keeping the battery adequately charged is fundamental nobody wants a suddenly out-of-control team of cyborg cockroaches roaming around.

Review: LARKIN WITH WOMEN, Old Red Lion Theatre – Broadway World

2022 is Philip Larkin's centenary, so it's no surprise to find my memories a little hazy. The chuggety-chug of "The Whitsun Weddings" (Eng Lit O Level 1979 - grade B, if you're asking), the Eminem-style opening line about your Mum and Dad, the friendship with Kingsley Amis and a vague sense of some politically incorrect stuff at a time when almost nothing could be genuinely categorised as politically incorrect. He died in 1985, about ten years before I would have guessed, at 63, the same age as his much disliked father, a last unwanted gift from the accident of birth.
Not much of that is going on the playbill, but we do get an absolutely splendid show, Ben Brown's award-winning 2000 four-hander revived with tremendous verve and no little pathos by Strut and Fret. Larkin, who looks a lot like Eric Morecambe, had much of that comedian's comic timing and ready wit and, in this version of him at least, holds the misogyny at bay and mines the misanthropy more for its capacity to amuse rather than to wallow in self-pity.
Daniel Wain is super in the role, laughing as much as I can recall an actor laugh on stage, often at Larkin's own expense, railing against the world, against his own shortcomings (personal and professional), against - with a little more seriousness - his block as a poet. Wain shows that Larkin can be insensitive, bend truth to his own ends and stick rigidly to his principles (at least when it suits him) but there's plenty of charisma there, a willingness to laugh at the world with the same schoolboyish sense of humour that morphed into his schoolboyish taste in Soho's under-the-counter, brown-enveloped magazines. Wain delivers a man whom we shouldn't like really, but we do - I suspect the women in his life felt something of the same.
Ah, the women of the title. I've left it 300 words before mentioning them because, unlike more than one play I've seen in the last month or so, these women are fully formed characters, Brown sidestepping the temptation to create them merely to cast light on The Great Man in whom he is really interested. They need no bolstering from your reviewer.
Lynne Harrison plays Maeve Brennan, coyly peeping out from behind a blonde fringe, a junior at Hull University Library invited by Larkin (who was Head Librarian) to his flat for tuition before her exams. Predatory behaviour? Well, she was 31, retained her strict Roman Catholic beliefs (allowing Brown to have a lot of fun giving Larkin cynical line after cynical line about marriage and the value of virginity) and they were together - albeit on and off, it was like that with Larkin - for many years. They not equals at work or in matters of the mind, but she's no victim either. Harrison vests her 'bit-on-the-side' (which is demeaning, but the right phrase for the time) with an ongoing hurt, but a love too for a man she idolised and could never quite leave - nor he her. It was, of course, a less judgemental time, at least beyond the boundaries set by twitching net curtains.
Betty Mackereth was for many years Larkin's efficient secretary, amused and a little fascinated by the man-child she tended (there's brilliant directing by John Gilbert and Jenny Hobson with a briefcase that says more about their relationship than any exposition) who becomes an occasional lover too. Annabel Miller gets a showstopping moment that provoked many a dubious chuckle in the stalls and captures the attitude of a woman who didn't want much, but got it from a man with much the same approach to their longstanding affair.
Mia Skytte goes through a glorious range of 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s Bohemian fashions (Junis Olmsheid is in award-worthy form as the designer, as the set is a delight to look upon and adapatable too) as the love of Larkin's life, the academic Monica Jones, with whom he shared a sense of humour and until very late in life, a fear of commitment. Skytte has a tricky role - she is not quite a wife, but more than just another lover, a source of sex intellectual stimulation and comfort for a man who probably wanted them in that order for the first half of their time together and in the reverse order for the second half. Skytte gets to show why Monica was so ideally suited to provide such, and like Harrison and Miller, creates a wholly rounded individual in whom we believe. It's wonderful to hear her laugh so much too.
There was more to Larkin than we see here - a play with the title Larkin With Men would cast him in a much darker light - but that was not Brown's objective and it's the playwright's call. What we do get from a very classy production indeed, is a warm, affectionate, funny examination of Larkin's relationships with the three women who circled him for much of his life. Larkin is more flawed than they are of course, but there isn't the tang of entitlement on his part nor condemnation from the playwright that would, one presumes, be foregrounded in any such play written today.
That's a moral judgement and you pays your money and you takes your chance with such matters - as a critical judgement, this is a fine example of what small scale, fringe theatre can. Delightful.
Larkin With Women is at The Old Red Lion Theatre until 17 September

The moment Phil Collins tried to replace Keith Moon in The Who – Far Out Magazine
Posted: at 6:26 pm
Despite Phil Collins taking over as the lead vocalist in Genesis, he would have still given up the band in an instant to have joined The Who as a drummer following the death of Keith Moon. Collins even initiated talks with Pete Townshend, but it was poor timing on his behalf, and they couldnt strike a deal.
In 1975, after Peter Gabriels exit from Genesis, it was down to Collins to step up to the mantle and ensure the band survived. Much to his surprise, they became more wildly successful during his stewardship than under his predecessor and hit new heights. However, Collins would have given everything up in a heartbeat to join The Who and return to having the eyes off him.
It was never Collins plan to become one of the most recognisable vocalists in the world, but something he accidentally fell into. His role would have been to operate solely behind the drum kit and leave the singing to a professional if it was up to him.
The late Moon is one of Collins all-time favourite drummers, and it would have been an honour for him to continue his legacy. Speaking on reflection, he once said of The Who: I think that one of the classic rock tracks of all time is Wont Get Fooled Again and I remember seeing them on TV, they were televised from Charlton Football ground and I saw him with this gaffer tape around his head, with his headphones, you know, it hurts to take it off if youre foolish enough to put it around. The way he played, there was no orthodoxy at all.
Shortly after Moons death, Collins proposed the idea of him replacing the late drummer in The Who to Townshend, with who he was working on a project alongside. Unfortunately, the group had already decided to work with Kenney Jones, and Collins offered his services too late.
Absolutely would have joined The Who. I would have left Genesis to join The Who, he toldThe Guardianin 2016. But theyve got a great drummer now in Zak Starkey, hes fantastic. Someone with the balls that Keith Moon had.
He elaborated toClassic Rock: I played Uncle Ernie inTommy[in a 1989 concert with the Who], which I loved doing, though it was very politically incorrect playing a paedophile. But it was great because I was with the Who. I was working with Townshend just after Moon died [in 1978], and I said to him, Have you got anybody to play the drums? Because Id love to do it. Ill leave Genesis. And Pete said, Fuck, weve just asked Kenney Jones'.
Collins felt he was a much better fit for The Who than Jones, who he said was too polite for the band. He added: Because Kenney Jones, unbeknown to most people, played on stuff when Keith was too out of it. He was far too polite for the Who. But I would have done the job. I would have joined them.
