Over 100 movie theaters reopen in Shanghai – Macau Business
Posted: July 9, 2022 at 7:47 am
Over 100 movie theaters in Shanghai resumed operation on Friday after about four months of epidemic-led closure.
According to a statement released by the film bureau of Shanghai, movie theaters are currently allowed to receive an audience at a 50 percent capacity at most, and viewers shall not sit closely beside each other.
The city will also ensure daily health monitoring of cinema staff, rational scheduling of screenings, infection prevention and control in theaters, among other things, to ensure the safety of audiences, according to the bureau.
Several cinemas in Shanghai arranged early hour screenings on Friday. Before 12 a.m. on Friday, some moviegoers were already seen lining up in front of a UME cinema in Xintiandi, a landmark entertainment area in Shanghai.
Our staff have returned to their posts weeks ago to prepare for our reopening, engaged in such works as disinfection, machine maintenance, and film scheduling, said the manager of the cinema.
During the 2022 Spring Festival holiday, Shanghais film market led all Chinese cities with a total box office of 259 million yuan (about 38.6 million U.S. dollars).
Movie theaters in Shanghai suspended operation on March 10 due to COVID-19 flareups. More of them will reopen when they meet requirements for epidemic prevention and control.

More than 100 Rwandan refugees repatriated from DRC – Macau Business
Posted: at 7:47 am
At least 103 Rwandan refugees from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) arrived Wednesday in their home country, the government said Thursday.
In a statement, Rwandan Ministry of Emergency Management said the returnees are currently hosted at a reception center in western Rwandas Nyabihu district.
While at the reception center the returnees will receive resettlement support including funds, food items for three months, registration for national identity card and community-based health insurance for one year, said the statement.
More returnees are expected to arrive via the western Rusizi border on Friday, it said.
Since 1994 over 3.5 million Rwandan refugees have returned home and reintegrated in the country, according to data from the ministry.
For the last five years, Rwanda in collaboration with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) received 15,643 returnees mainly from the DRC, the ministry said.
The Rwandan government reaffirmed its commitment to ensure the safety and sustainable reintegration of all returnees.
The government will also continue to work with various partners, including neighboring countries and UN agencies in finding possible solutions to improving the wellbeing of all refugees living in Rwanda as well as finding long-term and durable solutions for them, it said.

COVID-19 infections rising in Czech Republic, 4th vaccination recommended – Macau Business
Posted: at 7:47 am
The Czech Republic has recorded 1,549 COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, the highest daily count since the start of May, data from the countrys Health Ministry showed Friday.
The daily number of infections in the Czech Republic started rising at the end of June. Last week, the country reported more than 1,000 daily cases for five consecutive working days.
The daily number of hospitalizations has also almost doubled in the past two weeks, from 134 on June 24 to 262 on July 7.
Authorities have said that the more contagious subvariants BA.4 and BA.5 of the Omicron virus are to blame for the rise in infections.
Local media quoted the Health Ministry as saying that the number of infections would keep rising for several more weeks, but hospitals and intensive care units would be able to cope.
The Czech Vaccinology Society has recommended a fourth COVID-19 vaccine dose for people over 60. It is also recommended for those over the age of 12 with a severe immunocompromising condition, and the health staff who work with such patients, as well as for those in social care facilities.
We recommend administering the second vaccine booster dose at least four months after the first booster dose, the Society said on its website.
The Czech Republic has recorded more than 3.9 million COVID-19 cases and over 40,300 deaths since the outbreak of the pandemic. Nearly 6.9 million people in the country, which has a population of about 10.5 million, have been fully vaccinated, according to data from the Health Ministry

Posted: at 7:47 am
Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Argentine Foreign Minister Santiago Cafiero have pledged to strengthen coordination and increase cooperation on building the Belt and Road between their countries.
They met Thursday on the sidelines of the Group of 20 (G20) foreign ministers meeting held in Bali, Indonesia.
During the meeting, Wang said the solid mutual trust and friendship established between the two heads of state have provided strategic guidance for developing bilateral relations, adding that China appreciates Argentinas adherence to friendliness towards China.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries, and China is willing to work with Argentina to advance the high-quality construction of the Belt and Road, helping accelerate their respective development and revitalization, Wang said.
Wang said that both sides should take the opportunity of the 2022 Year of China-Argentina Friendship and Cooperation to increase mutual understanding to cement the popular support for bilateral friendship for the sake of bilateral pragmatic cooperation in the next 50 years.
Wang noted that the Chinese side understands and supports Argentina in maintaining its territorial sovereignty and national dignity, and will stand firmly with the Argentine side on issues concerning each others core interests.
Both as important emerging markets, China and Argentina share extensive consensus and common interests on international and regional affairs, Wang said, adding that China is willing to join efforts with Argentina in practicing true multilateralism, maintaining basic norms governing international relations and safeguarding international fairness and justice.
Argentina and China enjoy a long history of friendship, Cafiero said, noting that the Argentine side admires Chinas development achievements and appreciates China for its support for Argentina in safeguarding the sovereignty over the Malvinas Islands.
He stressed that Argentina firmly pursues the one-China policy and hopes to enhance the synergy with the Belt and Road Initiative, make better use of the bilateral cooperation mechanism and chart the course for the next 50 years of bilateral cooperation.
Argentina speaks highly of Chinas important leading role in advancing global development and appreciates China for inviting Argentina to the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) leaders meetings, Cafiero said, voicing his countrys readiness to strengthen the synergy with the BRICS mechanism.
He said Argentina appreciates China for taking an objective position on international affairs and appealing for a ceasefire to give peace a chance.
The Argentine side is willing to work with China to strengthen South-South Cooperation, uphold multilateralism and safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of emerging markets, Cafiero said.
Both sides exchanged views on China-Latin America cooperation and agreed to boost communication and coordination, so as to help Latin America address the spillover effect of the Ukraine situation.
Wang expressed Chinas support for Argentina in assuming the pro tempore presidency of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States, saying China is ready to join hands with Argentina to build the China-Latin America community with a share future featuring equality, mutual benefit, innovation, openness and people-centered wellbeing.
