Bigger in Texas: A Look at the Lone Star State’s All-Time Money List – PokerNews.com

Posted: March 29, 2022 at 1:22 pm

Live poker in Texas booming right now, but that's nothing new to the Lone Star State. From the road gambling days in the 1960s to the online era in the early 2000s and beyond, Texas has produced many of the greatest and most accomplished players in poker history.

As the PokerNews team ventures through the south during Texas Week, here is a look at the state's biggest winners by live tournament earnings, as compiled by The Hendon Mob, an epic group of names that includes Poker Hall of Famers like Doyle Brunson and TJ Cloutier, as well as other household names like David Williams, Bill Perkins and Ben Tollerene.

Before we get into our player-by-player breakdown, here's a look at the Top 10 list:

Follow the PokerNews Texas Road trip here!

Poker Hall of Famer and six-time bracelet winner Thomas John TJ Cloutier sits atop Texas all-time money list as the only player so far to reach eight figures with $10.4 million in live tournament earnings, putting him 95th on the overall all-time money list.

Cloutier, of Richardson, got his start in poker after moving to Texas following a short career in the Canadian Football League and a stint owning a food company.

Cloutier's biggest score came before the poker boom when he took second in the 2000 World Series of Poker Main Event for $896,000 after being defeated by Chris Ferguson, who earned the World Champion bracelet and $1.5 million. A few years later, Cloutier earned his second-biggest career cash when he shipped $5,000 No-Limit Holdem at the 2005 WSOP for $657,100.

But Cloutier, who has had an incredible four top-five finishes in the WSOP Main Event, had tournament wins long before that, including taking down a $10,000 No-Limit Holdem event at Amarillo Slims Superbowl of Poker in 1990, or another $10,000 event at the 7th Annual Diamond Jim Brady in Los Angeles the following year.

While he never won the WSOP Main Event, Cloutier's poker legacy was cemented in 2006 when he was inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame.

Forth Worths Ben Tollerene has racked up $9.5 million in live earnings to put him in second place on Texas all-time live money list and 109th on the overall money list. If thats not impressive enough, Tollerene holds an additional $3.4 million in online earnings.

Although he is an Omaha specialist, Tollerene earned his biggest scores in No-Limit Holdem events, including at the 2019 British Poker Open when he took down 100,000 No-Limit Hold'em for $1,037,159.

Other big scores by Tollerne, who played as Ben86 on PokerStars and Bttech86 on Full Tilt Poker, include a third-place finish in a 2017 Aria Super High Roller for just over one million, as well as a second-place finish in the 2016 Aussie Millions Poker Championship $100,000 No-Limit Holdem Challenge for $646,962.

Dallas David Williams is best known for his runner-up finish in the 2004 WSOP Main Event to Greg Raymer, which earned Williams a career-high score of $3.5 million, as well as his appearances on High Stakes Poker.

Williams has racked up $8.9 million in live earnings which, in addition to his Main Event run, includes a victory in the $25,000 Championship Event at the 2010 Five Star World Poker Classic worth $1.5 million, as well as a runner-up finish in a $10,000 No-Limit Holdem event 2004 WPT Borgata Poker Open for $573,800.

Williams remains active on the tournament scene and recently earned a ninth-place finish at the 2021 WSOP in Event #32: $3,000 H.O.R.S.E. for $13,989.

High-stakes crusher Keith Tilston has earned $7 million in live earnings to put him fourth on Texas all-time money list.

Tilstons biggest score came at the 2019 WSOP when he took down Event #83: $100,000 High Roller for a cool $2.8 million and his first and only bracelet, while his second biggest score of $660,000 came a year earlier at the US Poker Open in the $50,000 Main Event.

The Austin pro got his first recorded score in 2005 and continues to tear up live tournaments. Tilstons most recent live score, his third-largest, was at the 2021 WSOP, where he finished fifth in Event #82: $250,000 Super High Roller for $632,124.

Poker godfather Doyle Brunson sits fifth on Texas money list with $6.1 million in earnings, though that number a likely just a sliver of what "Texas Dolly" has earned at the poker table over his poker career that has spanned more than a half-century.

Brunson, who began his poker career in the 1950s in games on Forth Worths Jacksboro Highway and later traveled the Texas Circuit as a road gambler, got his first live cash during the third WSOP Main Event in 1972, where he finished in third for $32,500.

That third-place finish ignited a spark in Brunson who went on to finish first in the next five WSOP events he played, including the 1976 Main Event for $220,000 and 1977 Main Event for $340,000.

In total, Brunson has 10 bracelets to his name to put him second on the all-time list, tied with Phil Ivey and Johnny Chan.

The Poker Hall of Famer's biggest live cash came in 2004 when he shipped the WSOP Legends of Poker Championship for $1.2 million.

Hedge fund manager Bill Perkins made a name for himself in the poker community on High Stakes Poker, where he memorably tilted and needled Phil Hellmuth on multiple occasions.

In addition to playing high-stakes cash games, Houstons Perkins has also had success in live tournaments to earn him $5.4 million in live earnings. Nearly half of that came from a sixth-place finish in the 2019 Triton Poker Super High Roller Series 1,050,000 charity event that earned him $2.7 million.

Much of the rest came from a third-place finish in the 2013 WSOP $111,111 One Drop High Roller that earned Perkins just shy of two million.

Perkins remains active in the poker community today and recently took part in a short-lived heads-up challenge against the up-and-coming Landon Tice.

Michael Dyer, another Houston native, has racked up $4.7 million in live tournament earnings to earn a seventh- place spot on the Texas all-time money list.

A massive chunk of that came from a third-place finish in the 2018 WSOP Main Event that earned him $3.6 million, finishing behind Tony Miles (2nd - $5 million) and John Cynn (1st - $8.8 million).

Other big scores by Dyer include a runner-up finish in the 2019 Wynn Winter Classic Champion Event that earned him $353,242, as well as a victory earlier in the year at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure that brought him $336,670.

Sugarlands Ray Qartomy is next on the list with $4.5 million in live tournament earnings.

Qartomy, who had his first recorded cash in 2005, had a career-high score in the 2013 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open Championship Event, in which he finished fourth for $639,925. Three years later, Qartomy earned his second-biggest score by finishing third in the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open $25,000 High Roller for $291,375.

Most recently, the Sugarland pro finished second in a $25,000 High Roller at the WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic for $283,500, going on to finish 24th in the $10,000 Main Event the next day for $45,735.

High-stakes grinder David Benefield, of Arlington, has racked up $4.5 million in live tournament earnings since his first cash in 2007 to put him ninth on the Texas all-time money list.

Benefields biggest career score came from an eighth-place finish in the 2013 WSOP Main Event for $944,650. His second biggest score came in 2019 at the Triton Poker Super High Roller Series, where he won a 25,000 Short Deck event for $789,707.

Benefield proved himself to be quite a short deck specialist that series as he also finished second in a 50,000 Short Deck tournament for $681,989 and eighth in the 100,000 Short Deck Main Event for $447,886.

Benefield, who is also known as an online high-stakes cash game crusher, has not recorded a live tournament cash since the 2019 Triton Poker Super High Roller Series.

Dallas Aaron Van Blarcum had his first live score in 2008 but didnt earn a second until 2017. In the time since then, he has racked up $4.3 million in live tournament earnings to put him tenth on the Texas all-time list.

Van Blarcum's largest live score came in 2019 when he finished runner-up at the partypoker Millions World Bahamas $10,000 Main Event for $970,000. It was clearly a breakout year for Van Blarcum as months earlier he went deep in the 2019 WSOP Main Event, finishing in 212th place for $50,855.

The Dallas native earned his second-biggest score at the 2020 Australian Poker Open with another second-place finish worth $524,885.

Grave of family murdered with a fire poker 114 years ago in Southland commemorated with a plaque – Stuff

Posted: at 1:22 pm

The grave of a family who was murdered with a fire poker more than a century ago in Invercargill has now been commemorated with a plaque.

British immigrant James Baxter brutally attacked his family while they slept in their Crinan St home on April 8, 1908.

The 43-year-old killed his sons Basil, 9, Roy, 4, and Ronald 2, while wife Elizabeth, 37, daughter Phyllis, 11, and son John, six weeks old, all died in hospital in the following fortnight.

The attack ended with Baxter committing suicide.

Maiden Stone Monumental Masons owner Ian Trainor came across information on the family deaths while doing research a month ago.

It was worldwide news. It was the worst mass murder of the time in 1908.

A Press Association story on the mass attack 114 years ago said: Baxter blew his brains out with a gun.

Trainers research revealed the family was in an unmarked grave at Eastern Cemetery.

I thought that was sad [being in an unmarked grave] ... everybody should have a marker.

Maiden Stone Monumental Masons owner Ian Trainor beside the plaque he donated to the Baxter family grave. The grave had been previously unmarked for 114 years.

In this case, Im in a position to do something for them.

He and his staff made a plaque for the Baxter family and attached it to their grave at the eastern cemetery on Friday.

The plaque his company donated was approved by the Invercargill City Council after the necessary paperwork was completed and a check of the wording inscribed.

The Baxters names, ages and dates of death are listed, including those of the husband-father.

I didnt pull any punches when I put down the wording ... murdered by husband and father, because thats the truth, Trainor said.

He thought the reason there had been no headstone or marker on the grave previously was that the Baxters had emigrated from the UK and had no relatives living in Southland.

Trainor was pleased he could provide a marker.

It marks their resting place and thats important.

Finding Our Second Wave Is Key To Maintaining Career Success As We Age – Forbes

Finding Our Second Wave Is Key To Maintaining Career Success As We Age

Professional sport provides perhaps the most visceral example of career transitions in modern society, as the athletic potential of performers is usually limited to perhaps a decade, after which their physical strength wanes and they're no longer able to maintain their competitiveness.

There have been numerous examples of athletes struggling to come to terms with this transition, whether due to the changes in routine, changes in their income, or changes in the status and adulation they enjoy. Physical transitions such as these are visible and in your face, but Harvard's Arthur Brooks believes that similar transitions are likely to befall us all during our careers.

In From Strength to Strength, he argues that there are two distinct forms of intelligence within us all. Fluid intelligence, which is perhaps what most of us associate with the word "intelligence", covers our ability to solve problems, think flexibly, and to reason.

The second form of intelligence is crystallized intelligence, which covers our ability to form insights based upon the stock of experiences and knowledge we've built up during our lifetime.

Brooks believes that these two forms of intelligence peak at very different points in our life. For instance, we tend to have the highest levels of fluid intelligence when we're young, with crystallized intelligence then peaking when we're much older.

Indeed, the crystallized intelligence that we so strongly associate with raw smarts tends to peak around our thirties and forties, and so it's quite possible that we all go through a mental transition just as profound as the physical transition that professional athletes go through.

"Too often we make assumptions about people's capabilities as they age, such as that we're not as good at learning new things or grasping new technologies," says Romano Toscano, Founder, MyLifeKit. "The reality is that we're just good at different things, such as connecting dots and creating networks, which are hugely valuable and can allow us to be extremely successful. Giving people access to data on the health and performance is key to self-improvement and personal empowerment.

The problem is that few of us realize that such a transition in our capabilities is taking place, and so we fail to appreciate that what helped us to achieve success in our younger years is unlikely to help us achieve success in later years when our abilities change.

"If you have experienced professional success in the early part of your career, and your job involved new ideas or solving hard problems, you have fluid intelligence to thank for it," Brooks writes.

As this form of intelligence declines, doing what we did when we were young is unlikely to be enough, and Brooks highlights the challenges this can present, especially if, like the professional athlete, we have grown used to success and attached to our way of achieving it. Continuing to strive along those same lines is unlikely to deliver the results we so crave.

Whereas the need to transition is evident from the very beginning of a professional athlete's career, however, Brooks believes that knowledge workers are largely oblivious to this need. He argues that business schools and similar educational establishments instead promote an endless stream of hard work and for our ambitions and intelligence to follow a consistent, linear path. This can create both an ignorance of the importance of our transition to a focus on crystallized intelligence and especially of how we might make the shift.

Finding Our Second Wave Is Key To Maintaining Career Success As We Age

Perhaps the first step in adapting to these changes is to view them in a positive light. It's easy to fall into the trap of thinking that our declining capability is overwhelmingly negative. This can be especially so if we placed great pride in our successes and status during our career. If what got us where we are is no longer enough it can result in a hit to our esteem.

Brooks reminds us, however, that the crystalized intelligence curve can open up a whole host of new avenues to explore. For instance, he cites a number of professions where the ability to join dots together can be hugely valuable, such as historians, teachers, and mentors. Indeed, in 2030: How Today's Biggest Trends Will Collide and Reshape the Future of Everything, Mauro Guillen, dean of the Cambridge Judge Business School underlines the importance of this lateral thinking.

"The main message of the book is that you have to engage in lateral thinking because you have to be able to draw connections between things that may seem completely unrelated," he explains. "Once you dig into them, however, you begin to see how all of the different pieces interact, and you then realize that babies in China are connected to what's happening in shopping malls in the United States."

As a report from the UKs Government Office for Science demonstrates, our societies are getting progressively older and so it's beholden that we get better at aging successfully, both as individuals and as a society.

As the population ages, so will the UK workforce. The productivity and economic success of the UK will be increasingly tied to that of older workers, the authors explain. Enabling people to work for longer will help society to support growing numbers of dependents, while providing individuals with the financial and mental resources needed for increasingly long retirements.

The report highlights how the proportion of the working age population aged between 50 and the state pension age will grow from an already significant 26% in 2012 to 34% by 2050, which represents a growth of some 5.5 million people. As a result, the economic fortunes of the UK will increasingly be dependent upon this older workforce.

For Airbnbs Chip Conley, the key is to lean into the concept of the "modern elder". In his book Wisdom at Work he outlines a number of benefits that older workers can bring to any organization that demonstrates that aging doesn't need to be regarded as a sign of decline.

He suggests that the archetypal modern elder exhibits wisdom in a number of key ways:

Weve seen platforms emerge, such as Your Encore, to enable organizations to tap into the wisdom of older employees, but whilst these platforms operate on a gig economy style model, Conley argues for a more fundamental reassessment of age in the workplace, and the value elders can bring to the way our organizations function. With most western societies experiencing a tremendous demographic transition towards an older, greyer society, its a shift that cannot come soon enough.

Why Microsoft India Promotes a Culture of Learning – Business Today

Posted: at 1:21 pm

Genius, goes an old saying, is 99 per cent perspiration and 1 per cent inspiration. Taking the analogy forward, one could possibly say the same thing about the potential of a personwork hard to learn new things and grow. Microsoft certainly believes in something similar, and calls it the growth mindset. The potential of an employee isnt pre-determinedthe person can learn and grow, the company says. Part of the mindset needed for this is accepting what we dont know and being willing to learn and take action to drive meaningful change, says Ira Gupta, Head of Human Resources, Microsoft India.

The firm promotes a culture where employees are free to be curious, to experiment and to share the things they learn. No wonder that Growth and Learning Opportunities is one of the top attributes for Microsoft India in the BT-Taggd Best Companies to Work For in India ranking.

This growth mindset, however, requires constant support, guidance, empathy and resilience from leadership and Microsoftwhich has some 18,000 employees in Indiahas a plan in place. Under its Model-Coach-Care framework, the company trains its leaders and managers to lead through empowerment and accountability. Managers proactively coach team members for success across boundaries and help the team respond to the changing environment and be more thoughtful about understanding individual capabilities and unique circumstances to help them navigate opportunities and challenges. For instance, through its Employee Resource Groups, Microsoft builds a diverse and empowered workforce. Led by Microsoft India leaders, each group taps into a workplace subject and comes together as a self-managed team to drive inclusion around that aspect in the company. When we think about leadership at Microsoft, a few years ago we identified a set of actionable principles personal to Microsoft, aligned with our mission, ambitions and culture. These are our leadership principles of creating clarity, generating energy and delivering success, explains Gupta.

Growth and learning neednt be restricted to within office walls. As the pandemic changed the concepts of work, Microsoft acknowledged that hybrid was the way forward. To empower its people for the world of hybrid work and living, last year the company introduced its first employee experience platform built for the digital era. Called Microsoft Viva, it brings together communications, knowledge, learning, resources and insights into an integrated experience, which, the company says, enables people and teams to be their best from anywhere. Our goal is to ensure every employee has the tools, resources, and solutions to be as productive, creative, and secure as possible, working from any location and on any device. Technology is playing an increasingly important role in enabling a seamless employee experience in a hybrid world, says Gupta.

Microsoft also recognises that there is no single way of working that applies to everyone. Its approach to hybrid work embraces flexibility as a standard for most roles and provides employees with the opportunity to determine how and where they work best while making sure an individuals plan aligns to team agreements set with their manager. Our hybrid workplace is based on a commitment to flexibility that welcomes and enables diverse ways of working, relies on new learning and mindset shifts, considers business and individual needs, and is built on trust and technology, says Gupta.

Other than enabling flexibility, well-being and inclusion are the other key priorities at Microsoft. Weve been on a journey over the last five years to ensure that our benefits not only focus on physical health but also cover emotional and mental well-being, Gupta adds. During the pandemic, the company introduced well-being days, which were five days of additional leave for its employees. It renamed sick leave to Sick and Mental Health Leave, enabling employees to take time out for mental well-being as they would for physical well-being. In addition, it also introduced Caregiver leave for employees in a caregiving role at home.

The company is also focussed on increasing inclusion and representation of talent across identities, abilities, and backgrounds. Our commitment involves a wide-ranging set of initiatives geared to provide skilling, training, mentoring and scholarships to build an equitable workforce for the new world of work, says Gupta. One such initiative is the 16-week-long Springboard Internship Programme with an aim to fostering a more equal workforce. It provides women with an opportunity to gain on-the-job training, mentoring and re-skilling as they transition back to the workforce. Plus, Microsofts Employee Resource Groups also try to elevate the voices of various communitieswomen, LGBTQI+, persons with disabilities and othersto create a diverse support system and provide meaningful resources.

The company believes that when employees are encouraged to connect personal passions and philosophies to Microsofts mission and harness its platforms to pursue them, real and sustainable change happens in the world. Gupta adds that the last two years has made Microsoft more focussed about inclusion. We are committed to empowering our employees with the tools, resources, and sense of community that enables them to thrive in the post-pandemic workplace, she says.

Endeavour Hosts Women On The Water Event – Bernews

Posted: at 1:21 pm

Endeavour recently hosted the fourth annual Women on the Water event in honour of International Womens Day.

A spokesperson said, Endeavour is a registered charity and nonprofit that engages Bermudas youth in experiential learning through sailing that builds their self-confidence and life skills.

Endeavour aims to improve access for young people of all backgrounds, skills, and abilities to be represented in the sport of sailing and more widely in the maritime industry, including greater participation by young females.

Since 2015, Endeavour has engaged over 5,684 young people across its programmes, with 50% being females overall and the highest representation in the Endeavour Graduate Programme, with 62% females participating from 2020 to 2021.

Endeavours commitment to gender equality and empowerment of all women and girls throughout its programmes aligns with Goal 5 of the United Nations UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

The total percentage of female seafarers working in the global maritime industry is just 1.3% according to figures released by the International Maritime Organisation [IMO]. This equates to approximately 24,059 women seafarers out of a total workforce of 1.5 million. While trends appear to be increasing for more females to be employed in the maritime industry, there is still much work to be done in this area.

Since 2018, 54 young Bermudians ages 16 and older have benefited from participating in the Endeavour Maritime Career Springboard Programme, including nine females a roughly 20% female participation rate.

16-year-old CedarBridge Academy student and 2022 Springboard Grad Nijanae Pemberton said, I was one of four females amongst the cohort of 14 young Bermudians in the 2022 Endeavour Maritime Career Springboard Programme and three of us completed the Royal Yachting Association Dinghy Instructor course offered as part of the programme.

It is amazing to see other young females who are interested in pursuing sailing and maritime opportunities come together and support each other along the way while inspiring younger female sailors as they see what we have achieved and feel that they can do it too.

The spokesperson said, International Womens Day is a UN-sanctioned global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women, raises awareness, and marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity, and inspires support for organisations that support women globally.

On Sunday, March 20th, Endeavour hosted the fourth annual Women on the Water event in honour of International Womens Day to inspire, empower, and connect diverse female youth sailors to foster interest in sailing and maritime initiatives while providing skills development and networking opportunities.

The 2022 event brought together 21 young women ages 11-19 years old from across the Island for a fun-filled day of empowerment and inspiration. They represented 12 schools including: Bermuda Centre for Creative Learning, Bermuda Institute, CedarBridge Academy, Sandys Secondary Middle School, The Berkeley Institute, The Bermuda High School, Mount Saint Agnes, Saltus, Somersfield Academy, Warwick Academy, Whitney Institute Middle School, and home schools.

Danielle Frith, Endeavours Community Engagement Coordinator, said, We are grateful for Endeavours youth volunteers who volunteered their time and talent contributing to the events success. They represent some of the female youth sailors who first participated in Endeavours programmes six years ago who completed the Endeavour Assistant Instructor Programme and now lend their time to support and inspire younger sailors.

Ms Pemberton said, It was such an awesome day seeing all of the female sailors have fun together. Women’s Ownership of PMAY Houses Has Strengthened Their Say in Household Decisions: Modi at ‘Grah Pravesham – News18

Posted: at 1:21 pm

Mangilal, a man in his fifties from village Khedi Savli in Betul, and his wife Kaveri for the most part of their lives did not have a house of their own and had to suffer a lot in their personal and social life. The couple is part of 5.21 lakh houses built under PM Awas Yojana (Rural) which were dedicated to the beneficiaries in the virtual presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday.

Mangilal said that despite facing hardships due to a kaccha house for decades, his family was in trouble as their guests who would visit their house for the marriage of his son and daughter refused to finalize the relation seeing their house. But after the house was built under PMAY, both the siblings got their marriage fixed in the last few months.

Another beneficiary named Vinod Kushwaha from gram panchayat Jarguva in Vidisha said that the life of his family was a painful one as they used to cover their kaccha house with polythene sheets every now and then and could not sleep at night due to the rattling sound of their rooftop and faced leakage in monsoon. Now thanks to PM Modi and CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan, we could lead a peaceful life, said Kushwaha.

For women like Vidyabai, a native of village Kadhaiya in Guna, the scheme not only brought a pucca rooftop but also came with added facilities like tap connection, toilet and LPG connection. We not only managed to get a pucca roof but also got water supply, LPG connection and an in-built toilet which has made our lives easier and I dont need to venture out for daily chores, said Vidya.

Women co-ownership, a case study for global universities: PM Modi

Addressing the Grah Pravesham programme event which marked the dedication of 5.21 lakh rural households built under PM Awas Yojana, in virtual mode, Prime Minister Modi described the co-ownership in PMAY houses as a new chapter in women empowerment. The co-ownership has offered women a greater say in other domestic decisions and this can be a good case study for global universities as well as for those in Madhya Pradesh. Saying that around 2 crore houses built in the scheme have co-ownership of women and linked the same to women empowerment concept inherent in countrys culture which will be symbolised shortly during Navratri festival.

The event was organised by the MP government in Chhatarpur in Bundelkhand.

We are giving these houses with added facilities like a toilet, tapped water supply and LPG connection so the family does not need to run here and there for these added facilities, said the Prime Minister. The previous government built only a few lakh houses for the poor but my government has till now built 2.5 crore houses for the poor out of which around 2 crore are in the rural areas which also symoblise sense of service prevalent in BJP, the PM said.

The Prime Minister also said that the PMAY has also bolstered the rural economy by boosting construction and related activities. We are close to offering tapped water to 50 lakh rural households, he added.

We have provisioned Rs 2.25 lakh crore for building 80 lakh houses in rural areas in this budget, said PM Modi, adding an honest government and empowered poor population can fight poverty easily. Post-2014, we deleted 4 crore fake names from the ration lists and installed thumb impression machines at ration shops to ensure ration reaches the beneficiaries, Modi said.

Underlining aims set for Azaadi Ka Amritkaal, the Prime Minister said the aim is to reach out to every single beneficiary with welfare schemes and saturation (100 per cent completion) of schemes as well.

He underlined the importance of the construction of Amrit Sarovars (75 ponds) in every district to make up for the loss of groundwater due to indiscriminate exploitation of water resources.

Shivraj Chouhan extends invitation to PM Modi

CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan on the occasion invited PM Modi to inaugurate Ken-Betwa river link project in Bundelkhand as and when the event is completed. The scheme will invest Rs 44,000 crore and will extend the irrigation facility to 20 lakh acres. He thanked PM for transforming the lives of the poor with this scheme. He announced to increase in the financial assistance amount of Kanya Vivah Yojana from Rs 51,000 to Rs 55,000. Next year, we will be building 10 lakh more houses for the poor.
