Core One Labs’ Successful Patent Application Filing for Protection of its Biosynthetic Production System for Psilocybin Marks a Significant Milestone…

Posted: February 15, 2022 at 5:47 am

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Feb. 09, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Core One Labs Inc. (CSE: COOL), (OTC: CLABF), (Frankfurt: LD6, WKN: A3CSSU) (the Company or Core One) is pleased to announce that following its milestone announcement that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Vocan Biotechnologies Inc. (Vocan), has successfully engineered a novel recombinant production system for biologically synthesized (biosynthesized) psilocybin, and has filed for patent protection of its groundbreaking intellectual property (see Core Ones press release dated January 21, 2022), its team of scientist continue to make progress and are in the process of optimizing at scale production capacity.

Scaled up production of the Companys groundbreaking biosynthetic psilocybin, and an approval of the Companys patent application will further Core One and Vocans journey to becoming a significant player in the provision of cost effective psilocybin and has the potential to significantly change the face of psychedelic-based mental health care and patient access to alternative treatments around the globe.

Psilocybin is a psychedelic compound that is showing enormous promise in treating addiction and many mental health disorders; and the success of this game-changing patent propels Core One to the forefront of the rapidly expanding psychedelics industry, eliminating barriers for psychedelic treatments and research such as exorbitant costs and lack of availability and supply.

Currently, most companies use chemically synthesized psilocybin as the only available cGMP compliant product that is available in large volumes. The chemical process carries significant costs and is less efficient when compared to a biologically derived psilocybin.

Under the leadership of Dr. Jan Burian, Vocans Chief Scientist, and Dr. Robert EW Hancock, Vocans CEO, the teams ground-breaking psilocybin production method utilizes the well-established industrial process of fermentation and therefore can be scaled up while consistently producing a high-quality cGMP product. The process turns bacteria into a biological factory to produce synthesized psilocybin, cutting cost and time immensely.

With Vocans optimized recombinant production system, the subsidiary successfully tested its proof-of-concept for the manufacturing of biosynthetic psilocybin suitable for use in future scale-up and is awaiting patent approval. The application includes claims that Vocans technology will enable the production of cGMP API grade psilocybin, which can be used by pharmaceutical companies, API manufacturers and organizations conducting clinical trials and, where permitted by law, consumers, and patients. Vocans crucial breakthrough anticipates a rippling effect that could rearrange the industrys landscape hereafter.

This breakthrough in psilocybin production, can shift the entire industry. By making psychedelic treatments cost effective, this could make treatment more widely available to patients globally. Additionally, our patent on this process, gives us first mover advantage in this significant and emerging space, Stated Joel Shacker CEO of the Company.

About Core One Labs Inc.Core One is a biotechnology research and technology life sciences enterprise focused on bringing psychedelic medicines to market through novel delivery systems and psychedelic assisted psychotherapy.Core One has developed a patent pending thin film oral strip (the technology) which dissolves instantly when placed in the mouth and delivers organic molecules in precise quantities to the bloodstream, maintaining excellent bioavailability. The Company intends to further develop and apply the technology to psychedelic compounds, such as psilocybin. Mollie Hemingway hammers liberal media for silence on Durham probe: ‘They were part of this hoax’ – Fox News

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Fox News contributor Mollie Hemingway called out the mainstream media for being complicit in the corruption that led to Special Counsel John Durham's findings. On "Outnumbered" Monday, Hemingway argued that liberal media outlets' silence is proof that they were part of the hoax to link former President Trump to Russia

60 MINUTES,' CNN, MSNBC DOWNPLAYED, CRITICIZED DURHAM PROBE OF RUSSIA INVESTIGATION

MOLLIE HEMINGWAY: You had unsubstantiated sources who were making anonymously based claims that would lead the news for weeks at a time. But when you have an actual indictment, an actual court filing with proof and evidence of how bad this scandal is, the corrupt media are curiously silent, and they're silent because they're complicit. They were part of this hoax. They were part of the refusal to accept the 2016 election results, to refuse to accept who the Republican nominee was, and they caused so much damage. And they continue to cause damage to the country by that refusal to deal with the reality that people had elected Donald Trump.

We already knew there was spying. That emails and other things had been surveilled by the government against the Trump people. But we thought that mostly happened prior to when he was elected, or that it was people close to him. This latest news shows that that surveillance was continuing through the Clinton campaign and through these corrupt relationships while he was president, and that is undoubtedly not just a massive scandal, but the biggest political story we've had in a generation. And the failure of these other media outlets to cover it is only a reflection of their own complicity in the corruption of the regime and how they will do whatever it takes to control and keep power.

Your Opinion: Citing liberal sources about the ‘Bie Lie’ – Jefferson City News Tribune

Wanda Roam

Jefferson City

Dear Editor:

I find it humorous to read the liberal LTEs citing liberal resources that are promoting the "Big Lie" Joe Biden actually got more votes than Barack Obama to become the duly elected president. It is a never-ending argument of the liberals and the Donald Trump supporters.

If there were no real questions or anomalies associated with the election, there would not be forensic audits still taking place in the swing states where vote counting was mysteriously stopped almost simultaneously when President Trump was ahead.

Days later, president-elect Biden miraculously was announced the winner of all of these states. Where were all those extra votes found after hours? Things that make you go hmmm!

Truth has a way of rising to the top. The truth about the plandemic and where it was created by gain of function and funded by pompous Anthony Fauci, Bill Gates and others will be found out. Eventually, this will be uncovered and crimes against humanity must be filed against them along with big pharma, enabling health care providers, politicians and the governors that forced COVID-19-positive elderly into the nursing homes to infect the healthy.

The goal was to create fear and a willingness to allow the government to take our rights and freedoms away from us to mandate lockdowns, masks and dangerous so-called vaccines. This allowed the liberals and some RINOS to unlawfully change the voting laws to allow the election mess that is still being disputed.

It's also humorous Hillary Clinton and Stacy Abrams never conceded their elections and the Democrats in DC blamed Hillary's loss on Russia, Russia, Russia, in a stolen election.

The truth will set us free, so let's get to the bottom of the COVID-19 virus, the 2020 election and the setup of a so-called "insurrection" with the infiltration of FBI agents and/or informants.

Isn't it convenient the Department of Justice doesn't know or won't say whether any agents were involved?

Bring Ray Epps and the other unindicted co-conspirators before congress for all the world to see and hear their testimony about their involvement. Show us all the videos Nancy Pelosi is hiding. Subpoena her devices to see why she refused to ask for additional security Jan. 6 after being requested to do so.

My how the worm has turned. Hypocrisy is on full display but how quickly the liberals forget their own words. Stop the lies!

Liberal Media Scream: CNNs Acosta went there, saying to flush Trump – Washington Examiner

Posted: at 5:47 am

This weeks Liberal Media Scream features new evidence that the once proud and respected CNN has no plans to shift away from its ratings disaster and instead is doubling down on its hate for half of the country.

Leading the charge was the grim and humorless Jim Acosta and his lecturing assault on former President Donald Trump and key GOP leaders in what could have been a mildly funny use of the Chinese Olympics to tackle his favorite targets.

But instead, his Saturday CNN Newsroom with Jim Acosta was just an overbearing slam of Republicans, Trump, Sen. Ted Cruz, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, and Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene.

Now that the GOP has failed to root out the problem, its up to the American people to flush as many times as possible," he said. "Go Team USA."

From the 4 p.m. hour on Saturdays CNN Newsroom with Jim Acosta:

JIM ACOSTA: If document preservation hypocrisy were an Olympic sport, Trump would easily take home the gold, which has me thinking about this. Trump and his buddies should consider hosting their own Winter Games. There are some major players to watch. Like Kevin McCarthy speed-skating past questions about the RNC labeling Jan. 6 as legitimate political discourse. And then theres the Tonya Harding of the House GOP, Marjorie Taylor Greene, who discovered a fly in her canned talking points after it was too late.

MARJORIE TAYLOR GREENE (voiceover): Not only do we have the D.C. jail, which is the D.C gulag, but now we have Nancy Pelosi's gazpacho police spying on members of Congress, spying on the legislative work we do, spying on our staff, and spying on American citizens that want to come talk to their representatives.

ACOSTA: As some observers noted, first gazpacho police, whats next? Sangria law? Perhaps Ted Cruz could compete. Yes, its true Cancun is probably too warm for the Winter Games, unless theres a tequila luge, in which case, count me in. But the far-right Olympic games would fit right in with its autocratic tendencies. The MAGA Olympics could follow the lead set by China with its freestyle skiing competition at a dystopian-looking Beijing industrial park, not to mention its appalling human rights record.

As for our own cheater in chief back here in the U.S., Trump does not seem very worried as if his punishment is being decided by the Olympic committee rather than the Justice Department. Perhaps in 2024, Trump could run for the White House under the banner: the TIC, the Trump Insurrection Committee. He could bring home yet another gold toilet. But honestly, this is what happens when you allow somebody like Trump to clog the pipes of American democracy. Now that the GOP has failed to root out the problem, its up to the American people to flush as many times as possible. Go Team USA.

Brent Baker, vice president of research and publications for the Media Research Center, explains our weekly pick: This is Exhibit A in the decline and fall of CNN from a news network to place for left-wing commentary that ridicules half the population and the politicians they elect. Acostas smug insults may delight the narrow audience that still watches CNN, but he's talking to a smaller and smaller club of woke liberal elites who find this kind of thing amusing.

Rating: FOUR out of FIVE SCREAMS.

Taking on the liberal education elitist Empower Wisconsin – Empower Wisconsin

Posted: at 5:47 am

By M.D. Kittle

MADISON If leftist state Rep. Lee Snodgrass offered a glimpse into the elitist thinking of the left, Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction Superintendent Jill Underly provided a panoramic view.

Snodgrass (D-Appleton), who also serves as vice chair of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin, rightly took a lot of heat last week after attacking on Twitter parents who want to have a say in their childs education. She quickly deleted the tweet. But Snodgrass apology for her tone deaf tweet wasnt much of an apology. She said the tweet was lacking in nuance and easily misinterpreted. Thats the snotty liberal way of saying, I got caught telling my voters what I really think of them.

Gov. Tony Evers wanted nothing to do with the tweet. He saw what happened to his pal Terry McCauliffe after the Virginia Democratic candidate for governor said he didnt think parents should be telling schools what they should teach. McCauliffe lost to Republican Glenn Youngkin, who believes parents do have that right.

Evers quickly disagreed with Snodgrass.

Parents are the first and best teachers our kids have, and we know parent involvement in their kids education is critical to ensuring every students success, he said.

What a phony. The governor who as DPI superintendent spent a decade forcing centralized leftist curriculum and training on Wisconsin school district is suddenly standing up for parents rights? Most recently, he vetoed a bill that would ban radical critical race theory indoctrination in public schools, standing against parents statewide who oppose liberal politics masquerading as education in their childrens classrooms.

Which brings us to the DPI superintendent du jour.

Underly, a bought-and-paid-for stooge of Wisconsins teachers unions, doubled down on Snodgrass snide tweet in An open letter to families and educators. The liberal educrat says she knows what it means to be involved in her childrens education. She blames politicians (Republicans) for talking about parental involvement. More so, she blames parents who dont agree with her.

Family engagement isnt about yelling at school staff or suing your school board if they dont do exactly as you demand. Its also not asking caregivers to homeschool or pay for private tuition if they feel unheard or unseen, Underly writes.

And, like the educrat elitist she is, she proceeds to explain to families what family engagement is. Family engagement is about having a real conversation about and with our children. Its about building relationships and reaching out to teachers when needed, Underly informs us.

Underly insists she knows better. She knows what those wicked politicians mean when they talk about parental rights when it comes to childrens education.

Rather, theyre talking about micromanaging curriculum and preying on our parental emotions during a traumatic time, all with the ulterior motive of placing suspicion on educators by weaponizing lessons about difficult topics, or by placing blame on schools for a pandemic they did not cause but are nonetheless supporting our children through, Underly lectures.

Those politicians, by the way, have children in schools, too. They, like a lot of parents, have had their eyes opened wide during the pandemic on what their kids are and arent learning in their schools. Theyre mad as hell, quite frankly, and theyre not going to take it anymore. More so, they dont believe they should be paying for it anymore.

Underly then preys upon her fellow educators emotions, asserting this isnt the first time that politicians in this state have gone after teachers.

As a former civics teacher, Underly says she knows that teaching the history of the United States of America cannot be done without tackling difficult topics.

Families know this and support these opportunities for our schools to engage our children to become critical thinkers and critical consumers of information. We want our students to grow up and be active participants in democracy, and that means they need to know how to examine their past, think critically about their present, and make informed decisions about their future.

Do they need to know that theyre either white supremacists or perpetual victims of white supremacy? Because thats what many public schools, with the help of critical race theory, anti-racism and other leftist dogma are teaching our children. Its a racist and fundamentally flawed lesson plan. Its the real politics of division in the classroom, and its what so many Wisconsin families are fighting against.

Parents dont just want a say in their childrens education. They demand it because they have every right to demand it.

Theyre waking up. And liberal education elites like Jill Underly and Lee Snodgrass are desperate to silence what is becoming a sweeping parental rights revolution nationwide.

Post pandemic, the West is suffering from collective helplessness – Sydney Morning Herald

Posted: at 5:47 am

London: A new report examining global security threats says the West is suffering from helplessness because of the overwhelming variety and number of international crises that voters feel they cannot control.

The Munich Security Report 2022, released ahead of the prestigious German annual conference this week, has previously argued that the democratic world has been suffering from Westlessness whereby liberal democracies were exhibiting a widespread feeling of uneasiness and restlessness in the face of increasing uncertainty about the enduring purpose of the West.

The Munich Security Report said slogans like America First, Take back control, and strategic autonomy had become vote winners.Credit:Getty

Despite sounding the alarm in 2020, report author Tobais Bunde said the situation had worsened and morphed into a sense of collective helplessness exacerbated by the pandemic, climate change and the prospect of war in Eastern Europe and the United States chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan.

Helplessness is a reference to a phenomenon first detected by two psychologists in the 1960s who observed that dogs trained to expect an electric shock after a tone simply laid down and endured the shock even when given the option of escaping it by jumping over a small barrier because the animals felt they could not escape their situation.

The report said this sense had crept into Western voters mind at the start of 2021 a year that began with the insurrection on the US Capitol. 2021 was clearly not a year for geopolitical optimism, the report said.

It measured sentiment in 12 countries, not including Australia, and found that the perception of feeling helpless against global challenges was the view on the rise in them all. Only in China did fewer people feel that their country had no control over global events.

Transatlantic leaders need to demonstrate that both democracy as a system and alliances based on liberal values can deliver.

The report said this was why slogans like America First, take back control and strategic autonomy had become vote winners and why authoritarian powers were capable of projecting a stronger image of governance.

Liberal democracies appear particularly overwhelmed and helpless ... while autocratic governments often project confidence and decisiveness, liberal-democratic countries sometimes appear paralysed, the report said. Turning the tide of crises looks like an ever more difficult task.

Joe Rogan the victim of ‘liberal boomers’ seeking ‘moral instruction’? – Fox News

Posted: at 5:47 am

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

House of Strauss Substack founder Ethan Strauss gave his take on what's behind the Joe Rogan-Spotify controversy on "The Will Cain Podcast" on Fox News Audio:

ETHAN STRAUSS: That's why it created the distinction between "listeners" and "followers," because [TNT NBA analyst] Stan Van Gundy was attacking Joe Rogan and saying that Joe Rogan is a con man and because we have an ignorant populace, that's why he's popular. And if anybody listens to Rogan, whatever you think about him, it's a lot of listening. It's a lot of Joe Rogan listening to whoever the guest is, and you don't know where the episode is going to go, so you take in the information. You're not looking for moral instruction.

But in the case of Van Gundy and a lot of the elder liberal boomers God love them, you know, they're in my neighborhood I like a lot of them, but they read this stuff looking for their moral instruction and looking for, OK, who am I supposed to be mad at today? Oh, I know it's a guy whose podcast I've never listened to. This is the guy I'm mad at today.

JOE ROGAN TO THE MEDIA: 'THE ANSWER IS NOT TO SILENCE ME,' IT'S FOR 'YOU TO DO BETTER'

And it's just, I think, aggravating because they're often just shouting down at the masses in this condescending way, and it's very unappealing. I mean, we can get into other aspects of it, but I just found it to be a sort of typography that I could identify. It appeared to resonate. It appeared to strike a nerve. And hey, it's just going to keep on going. We're going to continue to get lectured angrily about how we failed to live up to the expectations of the former coach of the Orlando Magic and the current coach of the San Antonio Spurs [Gregg Popovich].

WILL CAIN: Did you hear from either of them, Van Gundy or Popovich?

STRAUSS: I have not heard from either of them. I reached out to Van Gundy about wanting to have some sort of discourse about some of the issues he talks about. He has not responded. I know that in many respects, he's a nice person in real life. I get it. But I have to say I am not so open-minded in kind when it comes to some of the stuff that he's been saying. I don't know if he knows how much it pisses people off.

I mean, when I read Stan Van Gundy, for instance, tweeting parents opposing mask mandates for students send a message to kids that wearing a mask is too big a hardship for them and too big a sacrifice for them to make to reduce the risk to others what will they do when faced with an actual hardship or asked to make a real sacrifice? I mean, that's just one thing that he said, but it's the type of thing he says, and I don't take kindly to that.

As a father, I don't want my kid to grow up like this. And I find it additionally a little bit ridiculous that I'm constantly told I should hate people like a Joe Rogan or an Aaron Rodgers. You don't want to take the vaccine. I did take the vaccine full disclosure but I should hate them. But I should like these people who want to impose restrictions on my kid When I see that it's ,very unappealing.

JOE ROGAN IS 'UNSTOPPABLE' AFTER CONFRONTING CANCEL CULTURE: CONCHA

It's unappealing for another reason, which is that these people don't live by the rules they want you to live under. Hypocrisy is transparent. I tune in to games all the time. They do that camera shot at halftime, and what do you see? You see Stan Van Gundy and his broadcast partner at TNT surrounded by a sea of masked people and the announcers are barefaced. And yeah, you could say I would rather hear a game called by a guy without a mask. I certainly would.

CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APP

But hey, this is either killing people or it's not. It's either the thing to do or it isn't. If it is, then maybe you should be in a box away from people as opposed to trying to force children to have to wear these masks and not see one another smile.

Under progressive politicians and liberal DAs, crime is on the rise – The Highland County Press

Posted: at 5:47 am

By U.S. Sen. Joni ErnstR-IowaWASHINGTON, D.C. When the Biden administration ordered the evacuation of families of U.S. diplomats from Ukraine last month due to the increased threats of Russian military action and crime, a Ukrainian official responded, Quite frankly these Americans are safer in Kyiv than they are in Los Angeles...or any other crime-ridden city in the U.S.

Sadly, he may be right.

In fact, a Los Angeles police department detective said the out-of-control crime in the city is so violent, were telling people dont visit, because we dont think we can keep you safe right now. The city was surrendered to criminals by the LA District Attorney on his first day on the job in 2020 when he banned bail and prohibited prosecuting even the most serious crimes, like murder and rape, to the fullest extent of the law.

The decision to give get of out jail free cards to criminals have consequences.

Thieves are breaking into local businesses. Looters are robbing trains like its the Wild West. A Union Pacific Railroad official said even when apprehended, criminals boast that they will face no serious charges, and within hours they are let back out on the streets. Most troubling, over the past two years, LA has experienced a shocking 94 percent increase in homicides. And who does the LA sheriff blame? The woke policies of both the district attorney and the county board.

Unfortunately, the senseless acts of violence arent confined to liberal Los Angeles.

The U.S. murder rate hit its highest point in a quarter-of-a-century last year. More and more felons are being released across the country as a result of permissive policies being pushed by progressive politicians and lenient district attorneys who view punishment as the real crime.

Democrats in New York, for example, recently pushed through a state law requiring the release of suspects arrested for stalking, arson, robbery, and other misdemeanors, without bail. And despite the dramatic increases in crime in New York City, a Democratic district attorney released a list of crimes on his first day in office that would no longer be prosecuted, including resisting arrest.

Refusing to keep dangerous, repeat criminals with a history of violence behind bars allows anyone, at any time, to become the victim of an entirely preventable crime. For example, the low bail set by a Wisconsin district attorneys office last November resulted in the release of a violent criminal with a long list of charges going back 15 years. Within days of being released, he drove that same SUV into a crowded Christmas parade, injuring more than 60 people and killing six. The Democratic district attorney has since admitted the release was a mistake.

The American people cannot afford any more of these mistakes by public officials who are putting their personal political agenda ahead of protecting the public. Public officials charged with enforcing the law who signal that its okay to commit crime by reducing or eliminating penalties are engaging in criminal negligence. Its time to put an end to prosecutors being partners in crime.

Across the country, violent crime is on the rise, and the Biden administration and other Democratic politicians are asleep at the wheelfailing to take action to keep our citizens safe.

This week, I took the first step toward making our streets safer by introducing legislation to increase the penalties for some violent offenders and child predators, including life imprisonment for repeat offenders. We need progressive prosecutors to stop playing politics and start doing their jobenforcing the law. Criminal penalties are not just suggestions, they are put in place to protect the public.

We also need to ensure we are supporting our men and women in blue the ones who risk their lives every single day to keep our streets safe.

The Lefts defund the police movement has victimized our law enforcement, making it harder for them to do their jobs. Thats why Im proud that here in Iowa, under the leadership of Governor Kim Reynolds, weve taken action with legislation like the Back the Blue Act, increasing penalties on a range of other destructive behaviors and strengthening due process protections for law enforcement. The law also creates accountability for local governments that prevent law enforcement from doing their jobs. Our governor has also proposed giving our law enforcement officers a well-deserved bonus for the uniquely challenging and critical work they do.

Liberal politicians across the country should, once again, follow Iowas lead. Its time we get serious about crime in our country. Our laws need to be enforced, our law enforcement needs to be supported, and perpetrators need to be held accountable. Parents shouldnt have to worry about the safety of their children, and no one should feel unsafe, especially in their own neighborhood. The only people who should be afraid to walk down our streets are criminals.

Joni Ernst, a combat veteran, represents Iowa in the United States Senate.

Victorian opposition leader Matthew Guy, Liberal MPs fined over maskless meeting with AFL legend Kevin Sheedy – 7NEWS

Posted: at 5:47 am

Victorian opposition leader Matthew Guy and four of his colleagues have been fined for not wearing masks at an indoor event in the first week of parliament.

In photographs posted to social media, Mr Guy and other coalition MPs were pictured with former AFL coach Kevin Sheedy not wearing masks last Tuesday, the first sitting day of the year.

Hear more on the investigation in the video above

Mr Guy confirmed late on Monday that Victoria Police had issued fines to him and coalition MPs Peter Walsh, David Davis, Gary Blackwood and Melina Bath for failing to wear a face mask in an indoor setting.

On Tuesday, Victoria Police confirmed each fine issued was for $100.

Wearing a mask is required in all Victorian workplaces, including state parliament, unless rising to speak in either chamber or eating or drinking.

He claimed he had a coffee with him during the speech, as did several other MPs, while others took their mask off for the photos.

A Parliament of Victoria work health and safety memo sent on Tuesday reminded MPs and staff of the continuing requirement for masks to be worn in the workplace.

In a statement on Monday, Mr Guy said the Victorian Liberals and Nationals cooperated with Victoria Police in relation to this matter and accordingly the fines will be paid promptly.

The Victorian Liberals and Nationals will continue to advocate for the removal of face mask mandates in low-risk settings so we can begin to recover, rebuild and move forward, the statement said.

Premier Daniel Andrews, who was fined $400 in October last year after he was filmed arriving at parliament not wearing a mask on two occasions, denied the rules were confusing.

The premier also rejected the notion images of their unmasked political opponents were referred to Victoria Police by Labor after they were raised in the lower house during Tuesdays heated Question Time.

Why the hardest lesson for Liberals is in Willoughby, not Bega – Sydney Morning Herald

Posted: at 5:47 am

This is a fascinating start for the self-proclaimed new generation of angels sent to keep the bastards honest, as the independent turned Liberal turned Democrat Don Chipp once said.

No wonder the old school independents are seething.

But the problem for the Liberal Party is more than just the calibre of new wave independents. For decades the success of the party electorally has been due to strong performances by party leaders and local campaigns with robust policies and an enduring philosophy.

In some extreme cases parliamentary leaders have even rescued victory from the jaws of defeat by effectively bypassing the partys head office organisation. More often than not the Liberal Party has won elections despite, not because of, the party organisation.

Head office support has been notoriously hopeless, stricken by factionalism, poor resourcing and pathetic levels of membership.

But as with many dysfunctional organisations, home truths are papered over in the name of unity, with notable victories along the way providing much needed and sustaining shots of political euphoria and more importantly, credibility. Look no further than the debacle being played out currently in the federal electorate of Warringah to see the meaning of dysfunction.

Loading

The only candidate with a real chance of returning that seat to the Liberal fold from the independent Zali Steggall, who defeated former PM Tony Abbott, has walked away in the face of internal Liberal Party dysfunction.

Repeated delays in the Warringah preselection meant that standout candidate was staring down the barrel of endorsement a matter of a month before campaigning would start for a May election. That is two minutes to midnight in anyones language.

Liberal Party statesman Sir John Carrick was fond of saying you cant fatten the pig on market day. That was a quaint, old-fashioned but profound way of saying that successful campaigning is all about being on the field early, with a good candidate, and a well-resourced campaign.

Loading

As it stands, more than a few candidates and aspiring candidates feel more like the pig is being hung out to dry than being fattened for market day.
