England won’t turn on batters: Anderson – Daily Liberal

Posted: December 27, 2021 at 4:19 pm

Star quick Jimmy Anderson says England's bowlers will not be blaming their faltering top-order despite the Ashes slipping away in record time. England's diabolical tour appeared to be turning around after a spirited fightback in the field saw Australia dismissed for 267 on day two of the Boxing Day Test at the MCG. But the tourists' optimism faded in 58 minutes of carnage before stumps on Monday as they slumped to 4-31 - still 51 runs behind - and they will have to produce a mighty fightback to prevent Australia clinching the series 3-0. After six innings in the series, England's average opening partnership is just 7.5 while none of the three men used have passed 40. Anderson could not have done much more as the 39-year-old finished with figures of 4-33 from 23 overs, saying he felt like he was capable of taking a wicket every ball during a spell before lunch. "We're a team here, we're all working really hard to try and put in some much better performances as a group," Anderson said. "We haven't bowled great in the first two games, we knew we could have bowled better and have gone away and worked hard." "All I can see is how hard the batting group is working to get things right. It can be very difficult in foreign conditions against a world-class bowling attack." Australian opener Marcus Harris, who scored a career-saving 76 on Monday, is not feeling for his English counterparts. "Unfortunately, as an opener you get thrown into these situations a little bit," Harris said. "It's hard work, but it's probably no different having to go over and do it in England so there won't be much sympathy from me or (David Warner). "With our attack and how we're bowling at the moment, it's obviously a great challenge and we've bowled brilliantly all series." Australian Associated Press

England show fight before another collapse – Daily Liberal

Posted: at 4:19 pm

England took some admirable steps forward before stumbling with four giant steps backwards on day two of the Boxing Day Test. Putting Monday morning's COVID-19 scare behind them, Jimmy Anderson led the English attack to their best sustained play so far in this Ashes series. But to continue the fightback, their top order had to stand firm in the last hour after trailing by 82 on the first innings. Instead, Mitchell Starc and Scott Boland mauled them and the tourists were reduced to 4-31 at stumps. They need 51 to make Australia bat again and a miracle to force the Test into a fourth day. Captain Joe Root (12no) and Ben Stokes (2no) will resume on Tuesday morning. Anderson was careful not to apportion any blame as England yet again find themselves in disarray. "It's dangerous to start talking about, certainly as a bowler talking about our batting. "We're a team here, all working really hard, trying to put in much better performances. "All I can see from the batting group is how hard they're working to try and put things right. "I don't want to get into too much of a bowlers vs batters thing. We're a team here." Anderson led the way with 4-33 - he deserved a five-for - and felt it was the best he had bowled in Australia since 2010. "I changed ends today and felt much better ... I felt like I was challenging (with) every ball," he said. Asked why he was left out of the first Test, Anderson said he felt ready to go. "I felt I was fit for that game but the decision was made that I missed the game. So there is no point talking about that now," he said. After feeling "a little rusty" in the second Test, Anderson hit his straps superbly at the MCG. He and the rest of the England attack briefly had turned a potential COVID-19 "game over" into a third Ashes Test "game on". After two dismal losses, England must win the Boxing Day Test if they are to miraculously win the series and reclaim the Ashes. But Monday did not start well - England were kept at their hotel after four positive tests among support staff and their partners. They were only allowed to head to the MCG after all the players returned negative rapid test results, with play starting half an hour late. Anderson and his teammates had more post-game COVID-19 tests and he was unsure what will happen next. "We've not been told anything. That will get talked about by much more important people than me if and when those results come back," he said. "As far as I am aware the whole playing group feel fine, and the management in at the ground today feel fine." Australian Associated Press

Revisiting the Meaning of the Eagles’ Hotel California as We Head Into 2022 – American Songwriter

Posted: at 4:17 pm

We live in strange times. Consumer goods are flying off the shelves faster than ever, yet an entire generation of young people are stricken with anxiety and depression. While Elon Musk is the richest person in the history of the world, so many are struggling to just barely get by. And while the stock market hits all-time highs, small businesses are shutting down left and right.

In this period of simultaneous excess yet existential struggle, it is worth revisiting perhaps the greatest song ever written about the duality of the American experience and the human condition: Hotel California by The Eagles.

What was the original inspiration for Hotel California?

It all started with Glenn Frey wanting to do something strange, just to see if he and the band could. So they turned to a hazy and nightmarish novel written by John Fowles in 1965, called The Magus, where a depressive yet eager young wanderer with nothing finds himself charmed by a wealthy Greek recluse whose powers of splendor and decadence end up detaching the young man from reality as he knows it, resulting in tragedy and loss.

The same novel is said to have inspired David Finchers 1997 film starring Michael Douglas, The Game.

So what is the true meaning of Hotel California?

The same narrative arc found in The Magus, going from sincere idealism and earnest curiosity to a sense of darkness and despondence, runs parallel to so much. Like coming of age and the loss of innocence. Or the sparkling allure of golden age Californias dashing but dangerous lifestyle of cash and drugs. Or the energetically revolutionary but eventually fleeting spirit of the 1960s. And maybe even the entire American experience.

You start with nothing. It all looks so good! Then you get everything. And you get crushed under the weight of everythings excess. What was it all for to begin with?

So Hotel California is a sort of broad allegory for rising and falling? Maybe.

Here is what the band members themselves have said about the songs meaning:

The band members themselves have offered a variety of different explanations for the meaning of Hotel California. Theyve said its a socio-political statement. Theyve said its about darkness and light. And theyve said its about the self-destruction that comes from greed and hedonism.

But of course, all of those things are hard to put your finger right on. And maybe that is why the song has been interpreted in so many different ways over the years. When art so perfectly reflects the experience of life, it can be about everything and one specific thing at the same time, depending on the consumer of the art. Like a sort of lyrical Rorschach test.

The songs true meaning, like life itself, is elusive. And maybe that is exactly the point.

What does Hotel California have to say about modern times?

Even if the exact meaning of Hotel California is subject to some degree of individual interpretation, there are certain themes deeply imbued in the song. Chief among them is the danger of excess.

California. America. Rock and Roll. The 1960s. Even The Eagles themselves. All have suffered from excess in some way, whether it be drugs, wealth, success, and even a desire for change.

As it is today, we find ourselves locked in a time of extremes. No middle ground. No moderation.

If Hotel California has anything to tell us about modern times, maybe its that we need to take things down a notch. Dont get too high and dont get too low. Focus on the little things in life. The things that matter most.

The Lorax (Jan. 6)

If you talk to a parent of young children, you will likely not hear much affection for Illumination Studios, the purveyors of some of the laziest, sloppiest and most obnoxious childrens entertainment around. (Sing 2, in theaters now! New Minions movie next summer!) The studios two best films are most likely its adaptations of Dr. Seuss books unsurprising, as his texts provide such fertile material for animators. This 2012 animated take on Seusss 1971 environmental fable gets a big boost from Danny DeVitos robust vocal performance as the title character; this is an actor whose voice was built for cartoons, and he makes his Lorax into a showstopping creation.

Its not hard to make fun of the Twilight Saga (five films total, all leaving Netflix mid-month): Plenty of people have, from lazy film critics to hacky stand-up comics to smarmy YouTube hosts. And, to be clear, these are not great works of cinema; the plotting is silly, the tone is all over the place, and performances are uneven. But there are virtues as well: solid filmmaking (especially this first outing, from the Thirteen director, Catherine Hardwicke); a rare dramatization of budding female sexuality; and most of all, the power the series success gave its stars, Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson, to make whatever weird art movies they wanted afterward. Did you enjoy The Lighthouse, Personal Shopper, Spencer, or Good Time? Thank Twilight.

This 2013 effort from Sofia Coppola effort plays like a culmination of all of her previous work: the celebrity satire of Lost in Translation, the hedonism of Marie Antoinette and the California alienation of Somewhere, stirred into a soup with the real-life story of four young Hollywood hangers-on who supplemented their party lifestyle by burglarizing the homes of famous people. A lesser filmmaker could have turned this story into a broad, dumb comedy or a stern lecture about the morals of todays fallen youth. Coppola goes in another direction, capturing the glitz and glamour of this sleek world and its shiny surfaces before exposing the emptiness underneath.Stream it here.

The writer David Mitchell has been a key collaborator of the Wachowski siblings in recent years, working with them on their Netflix series Sense8 and co-writing Lana Wachowskis recent The Matrix Resurrections. But they first worked together less directly, co-writing and co-directing (with the Run Lola Run filmmaker Tom Tykwer) this 2012 adaptation of Mitchells vast novel Cloud Atlas. Its an ambitious piece of work, combining multiple narratives across time and space and placing its main cast (including Tom Hanks, Halle Berry and Hugh Grant) in multiple roles. It doesnt all work, but its such a big swing that its hard not to fall under its spell.

Clint Eastwood was in a rough spot as a filmmaker in the early 2000s after several years of turning forgotten best-sellers like True Crime and Blood Work into forgettable movies. But he struck gold in 2003 with his adaptation of Mystic River, a Boston crime novel by Dennis Lehane, which netted Oscars for Sean Penn and Tim Robbins. They star, along with Kevin Bacon, as friends since childhood who have dealt with a shared trauma in wildly different ways, and Mystic River expertly folds together its present-day and flashback timelines to reveal how the pain of the past is never far away.

Four fabulous party hotels to put the sparkle into 2022 – Telegraph.co.uk

Posted: at 4:17 pm

Hedonism has been in short supply in recent times, so it's little wonder that so many are yearning for the party palaces of Ibiza, Dubai or Hollywood. Here's hoping the 2022 is the year when people can really let their hair down once and for all.

For spotting celebs in the bar, getting that perfect poolside Insta snap, or simply dressing up to the nines and hitting the nearby nightclubs, few places can beat these four glamorous hangouts.

Best for: Rocknroll vibes

This cool, low-key hotel, just off Sunset Boulevard, is THE place to sight A-listers. Celebs have been known to hang out by the discreet rooftop pool, which has comfy loungers (perfect for posing), a buzzy bar and views over the whole of La La Land. Our room was enormous big enough for an after-party with a dramatic black living room area, rocknroll music posters and guitars on the walls, along with a bar trolley and giant gold hand-shaped chair. The highlight, though, is its location in Los Angeless most star-studded neighbourhood, a stones throw from the citys most iconic nightclubs, including The Viper Room (once part-owned by Johnny Depp) and Whisky-a-Go-Go, which has live music: glam-rock band LA Guns are playing on New Years Eve.

Stella loves: The staff full of local knowledge and recommendations, whether you want to know the coolest live music that evening or the best bagel store.

Out and about: Its a 10-minute stroll (or two-minute Uber no one walks here) to members club Soho House West Hollywood, which is the place (if youre a member, of course) to soak up the city: all slouchy sofas, excellent cocktails, beautiful people and a buzzy vibe (sohohouse.com). If you still havent spotted enough stars, join a Celebrity Bike Tour, a gently paced 10-mile ride (easier still if you upgrade to an electric bike) that takes you past Rodeo Drive, Paul Smiths Pink Wall, and homes of the rich and famous, led by a charismatic actor-guide (from 55 per person, bikesandhikesla.com). Stock up on reading material for the flight home at local indie bookshop, Book Soup, which has great recommendations from knowledgeable staff and regular live reading events (booksoup.com). And for more ideas for New Years Eve parties, see visithollywood.com

How to do it: Rooms from 215 a night; montrosewesthollywood.com. Read the full expert review here

Expected trends in 2022 amid COVID-19 Zambia Daily Mail – Zambia Daily Mail

Posted: at 4:17 pm

MONICA KAYOMBO, Lusaka

SINCE Covid-19 came to the fore in 2020, it has managed to change lives of many people across the globe; the pandemic has thus compelled many people to make adjustments in life. As we start 2022 in a few days, we expect to see more changes because of the pandemic whose duration on mother earth is unknown. Marian Salzman, a globally recognised trendsetter and communicator recently had a virtual meeting dubbed: What we thought we knew, where she predicted 22 trends for the year 2022. She highlighted some of the changes expected to take place in 2022 due to Covid-19 and shared some ideas on how best to cope with the fresh challenges. She said 2021 definitely made many people question lots of things they had taken for granted before Covid-19 stormed. The population has remained divided on economic and political lines while conspiracy theories have become the order of the day. Ms Salzman said in 2020, the pandemic sparked a great research in which the countries were headed and people started re-setting their priorities as they were presented to adjust with the new environment. Without listing all the 22 trends for 2022 as predicted by Ms Salzman, I will restrict myself to the following topics: mental health and wellness, the skills squad, the roaring 2020s post Covid-19 muted hedonism, change agents, meet cohesion cultivators and social inequalities. On mental health and wellness, she said as the world gets used to mental illness, time is ripe for widespread adoption of programmes, tools, technologies that tackle anxiety and depression. She said rates of substance abuse, alcohol dependency, and suicidal thoughts and behaviors now known as diseases of despair made headlines. Of course, the local and international media has reported on how the pandemic has brought about anxiety, un ease and un certainty among citizens of various countries across the world. Ms Salzman recommends that people need to accept the complexities and new norms. She said some multi-national companies such as Bristol Myers Squibb, Philip Morris International (PMI), and Whirlpool Corporation had put in place support systems for their workers, including employee resource groups (ERGs) that foster diverse and inclusive workplaces and create a closer feeling of community. This innovation by the above named companies reminded me of our Zambian scenario where most people lost their jobs and no companies put in place support systems such as ERGs. Hope some Zambian companies will soon consider some of these innovations. On the skills squad, Ms Salzman said people all over the world have been investing in formal education to get ahead. Of course, this is also the case with many Zambians that have decided to go back to school to advance their studies in various disciplines. The question Ms Salzman asked is: how many tertiary institutions equip students with up-to-the-minute skills they can apply right away at work, how many people are finding that the skills they do have are outdated or not in demand, how many are facing the prospect of being replaced by robots or artificial intelligence? The answer she gave is that virtually, all information is now available to anybody with an internet connection, knowledge about will become less valuable, while knowing how they will become more highly prized and priced. On hedonism, she simply stated that the last time the entire planet was hit by a deadly virus was a century ago when the 1918-1919 influenza pandemic killed an estimated 50 million people. The doom and gloom of that pandemic gave way to a period known as the Roaring 20s when exciting new technologies such as cars, radios, gramophones went mainstream and seeded a new economy and a new culture full of exuberant energy. Equally, the world is shaping up to emerge from the dreary lockdowns and restrictions of COVID-19. New technologies are going mainstream like zoom, augmented virtual reality, crypto currencies among others giving rise to new fortunes and cultures. On change agents, she said they will still have a role in the post-pandemic world. These people are no less valuable but another type of catalyst will also be in high demand. As organizations and employees experiment with infinite permutations of hybrid working, cohesion cultivators will bring the scattered parts together in new and fruitful ways either from within the organization or as external consultants, she said. On social inequalities, Ms Salzman said after decades of just accepting the way things are, the public is getting increasingly more sensitized to inequities and less willing to tolerate them. This is going to shape political, social, and even corporate developments. Her statement reminded me of the topical issue where African countries have started lobbying for patent to locally manufacture their own Covid-19 vaccines and other essential drugs. Ms Salzman has also estimated that the future of schools will be hybrid, online and offline. With global education and training expenditure forecast to reach at least $10 trillion by 2030, there are plenty of incentives to find winning approaches. In conclusion, she said Covid-19 has helped her to gain back the four hours; she has more time with her family and the development has enabled her acquire more knowledge and hands-on skills. I am operating in my timea COVID-born phenomenon that has enabled many of us to work to our natural biorhythms throughout 24-hour cycles, at intervals when we are at our most productive, creative, and receptive, she said. As we continue battling with Covid-19, let us learn one or two things from Ms Salzmans catalogue of trends to adapt to the new environment.

Why 2022 is the year student loans could be linked to your 401(k) – Yahoo Finance

Posted: at 4:16 pm

Retirement reform advocates in Washington have had a bumpy 2021. Multiple efforts to help people save more effectively for retirement, including one informally called SECURE 2.0, seemed to be on track for passage before Congress' other efforts crowded them out.

But the effort may gain renewed traction in 2022. In a recent webinar co-hosted by Yahoo Finance and the Bipartisan Policy Center, Rep. Fred Keller (R-PA) said, I think our chance for success in the upcoming year to get the SECURE 2.0 on the books is pretty positive.

Keller and other lawmakers have focused on one particular provision: linking retirement savings to student loan debt. The idea is to allow businesses to contribute to employees' retirement accounts when workers make their student loan payments. In other words, if you put $100 towards your student loan, your company could match it with up to $100 going into a retirement plan like a 401(k).

The proposed law would help young people avoid missing out on years of valuable 401(k) matches. Currently, many people put off retirement saving in their early years even as experts often note that those exact years of saving are the most valuable, given the power of compound interest.

Data from Bankrate suggests that college graduates with student loans often have to delay other priorities. Thirty-four percent report having delayed emergency savings, 23% say they have delayed buying a home, and 29% have delayed retirement savings.

Rep. Fred Keller (R-PA) - seen above at an event protesting vaccine mandates for businesses - is a conversative Republican who wants to ally with Democrats on retirement reform legislation in 2022. (Anna Moneymaker/Getty Images)

The idea to allow simultaneous loan payments and retirement savings has bounced around Washington for years, gaining support from Republicans as well as Democrats like Sen. Ron Wyden of Oregon. For his part, Keller thinks 2022 could be the moment for this idea.

There's a lot of support from employers because they understand the importance of making sure that their workforce is secure, Keller says.

Those not fully on board with the idea note that one-third of private sector workers dont have access to a retirement plan at work. Therefore, they argue, a new student loan and 401(k) feature wouldnt necessarily help many Americans, especially those on the lower end of the income spectrum.

Story continues

Why aren't we fixing the tax code so that employers can actually just pay peoples student loans directly rather than just try and do this round-about system? Jennifer Brown, a researcher at UnidosUS, told Yahoo Finance in 2019.

But Keller calls this a positive step to help recent students.

This, to me, is a thing that I think everybody can get behind because it's incentivizing people to save and the important part about this is it's not something where the government has to come up with money to put into this like you would have to in forgiveness and so forth, he said.

Keller, who opposes student loan forgiveness, says the proposed SECURE 2.0 reforms are a sustainable model for how to help students that has a good chance of passage.

I look forward to doing everything we can to get this across the finish line in 2022, he said.

Other provisions in the legislation, called the Securing a Strong Retirement Act of 2021, concern raising the required minimum distribution age when people must start taking money out of their private retirement plans as well as measures to push employers to automatically enroll new employees in retirement plans.

In late 2019, Congress passed "SECURE 1.0," the first major retirement legislation in years; it included 401(k) provisions to help part-time workers save and improved access to annuities among other changes.

In an interview with Yahoo Finance, House Ways and Means Ranking member Kevin Brady (R-TX) listed further retirement reforms as one of his top priorities for 2022. Noting that SECURE 2.0 has bipartisan support and would be another significant reform to retirement savings, he expressed hope that it could get done in the coming 12 months.

For now, student debtors have a reprieve from paying off their federal student loans. The U.S. government paused federal student loan repayments through Jan. 31 in response to the pandemic, and President Joe Biden recently announced an extension through May 1.

Ben Werschkul is a writer and producer for Yahoo Finance in Washington, DC.

Why one economist says the 401(k) is still not a true retirement plan

Maybe bad bosses are causing the worker shortage

Congress looking to change or even abolish this key 401(k) provision

NFL betting: It’s gonna be an ugly night at Lambeau in Week 17 – Yahoo Sports

Posted: at 4:16 pm

Who didn't play in Week 16 was more important than the players on the field. COVID ravaged rosters around the league while bettors reacted by targeting totals in several games. The roster challenges combined with the NFL coming off its lowest-scoring week of the year had bettors driving totals down in a big way. The average closing total this past weekend hit a season-low 43.1 points. Bettors' expectation of another low-scoring week never came to fruition.

Overs went 10-5 and those who bet later in the week may have paid the price. The final scores in two games landed under the opening number but they closed as an over due to getting pushed down throughout the week. Overs were only 8-7 to the opening line, a contrast that helps highlight the importance of betting early in the week. The market is constantly moving without you, so if you are waiting until kickoff you are losing value. When targeting an under, don't let the uncertainty of players' statuses stop you from getting the best of the number. Here are two games that I bet today to go under the total for Week 17.

We all could have predicted that Matt Rhule's plan of rotating quarterbacks was not going to work. The Carolina Panthers notched six points on Sunday, which marked the third time in the last four games they scored 14 points or less. Carolina has dropped to 31st in EPA per play on offense above only the Houston Texans. Considering how the Texans looked yesterday, I think there is a chance we see Carolina last by the time the season wraps up. Matt Rhule's answer to his offensive woes is to hand the ball off more. That won't work against the New Orleans Saints' top-three rush defense. However, it will waste some time off the clock, which is good for our bet.

The Saints' offense will get a boost next week as Taysom Hill is expected to return off the COVID list. That's how bad it's been for Sean Payton's offense this season. New Orleans ranks 30th as a team in QB completion percentage and it will only get worse with Hill throwing into a strong Panthers secondary. It's much tougher running on the teams when you are one-dimensional. These teams combined for 33 points back in Week 2. Despite looking much different now, neither looks any better offensively. Ian Book starting for the Saints on national television Monday will only hurt the public's perception of the Saints' offense moving forward. Take the under today before it plummets.

Story continues

This might sound familiar as we hit the under in the Minnesota Vikings' last road game at Chicago two weeks ago. They scored a total of 17 points against the Bears' defense in chilly 38-degree temperatures. The forecasted low for Sunday night in Green Bay is 8 degrees. That's extremely cold and it's a problem for Minnesota in more ways than one.

Not only is that less than ideal for a team that plays the majority of its games indoors. It will also amplify Vikings coach Mike Zimmer's conservative nature, which has been a detriment to this offense all season. As if going up against Aaron Rodgers with your playoff lives on the line isn't enough pressure, Cousins still has to fight off the demons of previous underwhelming prime-time performances. The Green Bay Packers offense operates at the slowest pace in the NFL, and they are 7-3 to the under in games that close over 46 this season. Let's take the under and run.

Robby Anderson hits back after being criticized for celebration: ‘I know this dream dont last forever’ – Yahoo Sports

Posted: at 4:16 pm

Carolina Panthers receiver Robby Anderson knows it is rare to succeed in the NFL. So when he has an opportunity to celebrate a good play, he's going to take it.

Anderson received flack for celebrating at the end of the Panthers' 32-6 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 16. Anderson spun the ball and pointed to the sky after grabbing a 14-yard pass near the sideline on Carolina's final drive.

Anderson defended his actions on Twitter, saying he's going to enjoy being in the NFL as long as he can.

He also complimented the play, saying he ran a good route and made a good catch.

NFL reporter Dov Kleiman, who posted the clip, compared Anderson's celebration to Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Chase Claypool's first-down celebration that cost his team important seconds at the end of a game.

Both gestures occurred at the end of a game in which their teams were trailing, but Claypool's was far more egregious. He cost his team crucial seconds as the Steelers were trying to come back against the Minnesota Vikings. Claypool celebrated a first down catch with under a minute to go and the Steelers trailing by eight points. He did so while the clock was running, costing his team roughly five seconds.

Anderson's team trailed by 26 points when he made his catch. Anderson also went out of bounds on the play, stopping the clock. Anderson wasn't penalized for the celebration, so he didn't actively hurt his team.

Anderson was fortunate the play wasn't flagged. The NFL cracked down on taunting this season, leading to emphatic gestures being penalized this season. Chicago Bears linebacker Cassius Marsh was fined for celebrating in the direction of the Steelers' bench in Week 9. Steelers receiver Ray Ray McLoud was fined in Week 16 after making a first-down gesture in a defender's face.

After a breakout year last season, Anderson has 44 catches for 459 yards and four touchdowns in 15 games with the Panthers. He signed a two-year extension worth nearly $30 million with the team in August.

Washington’s frustration leads to teammates throwing blows on the sideline – Yahoo Sports

Posted: at 4:16 pm

The Washington Football Team couldn't stop the Dallas Cowboys in the first half or pretty much most of Sunday's 56-14 blowout defeat.

WFT's beat down was embarrassing enough. Then two teammates started fighting on the sideline.

Defensive linemen Daron Payne and Jonathan Allen were sitting on the bench after another Cowboys touchdown. Payne was arguing with Allen, Allen was trying to not react when Payne poked him in the head. That led to Allen getting up swinging.

Fights between teammates happen, but it was still a bad look all around. Oh, and the two are college teammates from Alabama.

NBC sideline reporter Michele Tafoya said she didn't know what started the fight, but made a vague comment about there being a reference to their "long history together," and that it seemed like Payne was "extremely angry at Allen."

Payne was seen steaming on the bench long after Allen swung at him. The two were back on the field playing on the line next to each other the next time Dallas got the ball.

It has been a frustrating season in many ways for Washington. At least most of the worst moments were happening on the field and not the sideline.

Payne shed some light on what happened after the game, telling reporters "it's all good" with Allen but declining to shed light on the specific source of their agreement.

"It was just a little brotherly disagreement, maybe the wrong place, wrong time, but it happened. It is what it is," Payne said. "You got brothers, you all fight with them. S*** happens."

Washington head coach Ron Rivera was similarly tight-lipped about the specifics of the disagreement, telling reporters he had spoken with Payne and Allen once he found out what happened.

Clearly, the team has a lot to talk about.
