On Michael K. Williams and The Wire – The Middlebury Campus

Actor Michael K. Williams passed away earlier this month after a long battle with drug addiction. He was 54.

Williams played bootlegger Chalky White in the show Boardwalk Empire. His performance over five seasons remained steady, menacing and reliable even when the show was sometimes anything but. He also posthumously received an Emmy nomination in September for his role in Lovecraft Country.

But a certain character will always showcase Williams legacy: Omar Little.

Omar Little from The Wire the shotgun-wielding, openly gay thief with a moral code wears an air of complete nonchalance and security as he robs dope dealers, terrorizing the local gangs of Baltimore. Citizens uninvolved with the drug trade are safe from his wrath. Omar walks his grandmother to church on Sundays. He enjoys Honey Nut Cheerios. He commits a homicide every now and then.

In a show full of rich characters on both sides of the law, Omar was the most compelling of the bunch thanks to Williams elegantly matter-of-fact performance. He paired the characters understatement with flashes of exuberance and dark humor during the shows more violent scenes. When Omar whistles Farmer in the Dell with a poker-face as he approaches his victims, Williams lets the music do all of the talking as the dealers run. It is as if Omar is just on an afternoon stroll through the park, and not about to commit a handful of felonies.

(Omars) gayness and his sexuality do not define him, said Film and Media Culture Professor Jason Mittel, author of Complex TV: The Poetics of Contemporary Television Storytelling.

He is the kind of character we have never seen on television before []. And you add on to that the striking charisma Michael K. Williams brought to the part. Its just something about his performance that pops.

But Williams performance as Omar was legendary for a reason beyond his charisma. You get the feeling that Williams did not take himself seriously, even as he gave a serious, beautiful performance. Williams understood that The Wire was always meant to both entertain and make you think.

The Wire started out as a more-than-usually thoughtful series about the moral ambiguity of the War on Drugs in Baltimore. But a cop show was pretty much all it was. We first see Baltimore through the eyes of alcoholic detective Jimmy McNulty (Dominic West) and foul-mouthed Bunk Moreland (Wendell Pierce), who assemble a team of flawed but mostly well-meaning police officers bent on pursuing drug-related homicides instead of street-dealing. Soon enough, though, their investigation leads them to the highest levers of power in the city, with drug money flowing from crooked state senators to street-level dealers all the way to local businesses.

After its first run of episodes, the show expanded to chronicle several parts of Baltimore society. Its second season switches its focus to the Polish-American dock workers who, mostly unwittingly, help import narcotics into the city. The third and fourth look at the public institutions that worsen the problems of drug abuse and violent crime in Baltimore, especially condemning the disinterested attitudes of the citys public schools and city council towards winning the War on Drugs in a creative way.

Some potential viewers are intimidated when reading about the intricate economic, political and social dynamics displayed in The Wire. They may turn away in a similar manner to Virginia Woolf when she reacted to Joyces Ulysses feeling puzzled, bored, irritated and disillusioned by a queasy undergraduate scratching his pimples.

But balanced with the shows towering yet accessible intelligence is the other side of The Wire: the wittier, pulpier thread of the show which Williams portrayal of Omar best embodied.

There are other great figures in the show who, similar to Omar, seem like something out of a Raymond Chandler dime novel instead of real life. Take Stringer Bell (Idris Elba), a ruthless crime boss who reads The Wealth of Nations after night classes at a community college. Or theres Brother Mouzone, a bow-tied assassin played by Michael Potts, who shoots a character named Cheese (Method Man) in the arm and then cries to the fleeing man Good day to you, sir.

But none of these performers could outshine Williams. In their investigation, McNulty and Bunk eventually ask Omar to go undercover for them in exchange for clemency. Omar adheres gladly, as one of the drug dealers being investigated murdered his lover, Brandon (Michael Kevin Darnall). As Omar testifies in court, he rebukes an attorney who claims the witness is a parasite festering on drug violence. So are you, man, Omar fires back. I got the shotgun, you got the briefcase.

Williams plays this scene both large and small. His words spark laughs in the courthouse, and his hands fidget with the tie Omar dons on top of his otherwise informal wear. But his eyes are deadly sincere, almost feigning confusion with his interrogators hypocrisy.

The late actor performed his signature role with the same qualities that made Omar such a compelling figure in the story. His acting style was dignified, warm, blithe, layered and without even a trace of self-seriousness.

Our Biggest Addiction is Not to Food or Drugs, but to the Past. – PRESSENZA International News Agency

Posted: at 7:47 am

Every day, the news gets more challenging, but also more interesting. Everything is collapsing: the environment is erupting with fires and floods, the COVID virus with its variants ravages the planet, Afghanistan is, once again, showing us the absurdity of war, and the ineptness and short-sightedness of those in power becomes more and more apparent.

The current system of beliefs cant deliver solutions in the present moment. We are facing a new moment, of a totally new dimension. We lack the right rulers to address these phenomena, as everything is being looked at with old glasses. We are stuck in the past, without a vision of the future.

Examples of this abound. When a vaccine for COVID-19 was produced in less than a year, some people were suspicious, saying before it took 10 years to get one. They could not recognize how progress can be made.

The war in Afghanistan didnt bring democracy to that country. Did that lead to us to ask ourselves about the efficacy of this strange concept of war? No.

The war on drugs in the US didnt reduce the consummation of drugs. In 2001, Portugal became the first European country to abolish all criminal penalties for personal drug possession, providing addicts with therapy rather than prison sentences. The result: drug use lowered and deaths from overdose were also reduced. Has this lead to replication of the model?

When China reduced poverty for 800 million people over the past 30 years, did anyone really study how it was done? Are we really interested in eliminating poverty? Loans from the World Bank have never worked, but we still keep pressuring countries to take them.

Progressives keep talking of workers as if it were the 19th century, without realizing that the workers they are talking about voted for Donald Trump and dont want to hear anything about class struggle. In South America they are either looking at the U.S. as a source of aspiring model or to a Bolivarian nostalgia, as in the US, politicians run on a platform of creating more jobs. Why are they not promoting automation instead, to free us from meaningless activities?

The issue of climate change is also coming from the past. 40 years ago, people were proposing renewable energy, but who listened to them? Not too many! Imagine if we had spent four decades working on the development of alternative energy, plastic substitutes, green transportation, etc. The people who proposed these alternatives where marginalized and diminished by the intelligencia of that time. This missed opportunity will make the lives of millions much more difficult and sap precious resources.

Everything is about repeating the past, even if it doesnt make any sense, even if its absolutely irrational. We are addicted to where we are coming from, instead of where we are going.

The future is not about being positive or negative. It is not about everything is going to be fine. The future is a process, with tendencies that we can see and predict. Some things will keep growing and developing, others will disappear. Technological development, for example will continue, while the relationship between work and money, however, will get each day more complicated. Life expectancy for people born in this part of the world today will rise to 150 years. What impact will that have on an institution like marriage? Female empowerment will go far beyond our current idea of feminism. National boundaries will fade away, cars within cities will disappear. A.I. will translate languages simultaneously with a high level of accuracy. Wearable technology combine with A.I. will save lives and help diagnose health issues early, avoiding the need for many forms of surgery.

Today religions are playing the past card, with their millennial transcripts, they play with peoples heads and engage followers to become political activists and violent militias. We have to stop justifying our present position based on past writing or nostalgic memories.

Even therapists and wellness counselors are caught there, justifying present suffering by connecting it to past traumas. They avoid the real discussion with patients: how do we have a meaningful life in this crazy world? Of course its easier to make someone reconnect to something that happened decades ago by recalling some part of that story. The illusion of going back to get revenge is fed. The only solution is to reconcile by adding comprehension to that memory, and imaging a different future for yourself. There is not shortcut.

Our challenge in this moment is to create a vision that we could all share and to explain it in common sense terms. We need to use our minds to imagine a powerful new future for humanity. There are some very impressive demonstrations happening of this new thinking; we need to recognize them and build upon them to form an image that will point us in a new direction.

Imagine a political party that, instead of creating a jobs platform, will be dedicated to creating a society where people live meaningful lives. Imagine a religion that will promote the idea that humans are transforming beings, with unlimited possibility and choices. Imagine having a job that allows you to contribute to society while also developing your knowledge and qualities. Image if the goal of a country was to make sure that all other countries are doing well. Imagine if the function of a family was to develop love for humanity and to care for children who will keep the light of the future alive. Just imagine.

Three Decades Later, This Classic Book About the New Age Is More Relevant Than Ever – National Catholic Register

Posted: at 7:47 am

All forms of divination are to be rejected. Consulting horoscopes, astrology, palm reading, interpretation of omens and lots, the phenomena of clairvoyance, and recourse to mediums contradict the honor, respect, and loving fear that we owe to God alone. [CCC 2116]

Jesuit Father Mitch Pacwa is an EWTN host who is president and founder of Ignatius Productions and senior fellow of the St. Paul Center for Biblical Theology. Among his many books is Catholics and the New Age, a book he published in 1992 which tells of his own experience of the New Age movement and warning Catholics to stay away from it.

In a conversation with this writer in which he addressed this topic, he said, New Age is a mega-trend in religion and it has received its newest impetus from within the Catholic Church.

Father Pacwa described New Age as a combination of monism and pantheism which leads the individual to make himself God. Monism is the belief that everything is one and pantheism holds that everything is God.

The element of monism comes when New Age experimenters begin their search for an altered state of consciousness, seeking to break down the barriers between themselves and the world around them. This altered state, explained the priest, can be achieved by the use of illegal drugs, meditation and various breathing techniques.

(New Agers) try to see themselves as one with the Universe, said Father Pacwa. Theyre big supporters of such things as one-world religion and one-world government.

New Age also has elements of pantheism, deriving its ideas from Hinduism and other eastern philosophies. If everything is God, then necessarily you are God.

Combining these aspects of monism and pantheism, continued Father Pacwa, the New Age believer then awaits the coming of the millennium or New Age, when all people realize theyre God and there will be a new era of peace, love and tranquility. Our problem now, believes the New Ager, is that we dont realize were God and we resort to crime, war and violence.

Father Pacwa contended that New Age is a multi-billion dollar industry. The profits on such things as New Age books, retreats, meditation aids, items related to the occult, speaking engagements and the like add up to billions of dollars annually.

Over half of the Fortune 500 companies in the U.S. hire New Agers to give seminars to their employees, the priest stated. Father Pacwa discussed the lucrative work of a number of New Age advocates, including actress Shirley MacLaine, who has become rich selling New Age books.

New Agers believe in the concepts of karma and re-incarnation, similar to beliefs held in Hinduism. Transposed onto New Age philosophy, Father Pacwa opined, many New Agers believe that people are continually reborn into new bodies as they strive to reach their end goal of enlightenment the realization that they are God. Christianity condemns such beliefs: It is appointed that men die once, and after this comes judgment. (Hebrews 9:27)

Father Pacwa provided recommendations for responding to New Age believers. The first way to respond is dont. Let the [New Age] madness take its course.

He reasoned that New Agers will recognize the irrationality of many of their beliefs and choose to leave on their own.

A second response is, Know your faith. The Bible clearly condemns the work of spiritists, he explained. Christianity and New Age are obviously at odds with one another.

Additionally, the priest recommended that listeners dust off their Baltimore Catechism, which explicitly condemns sances, charms, spells, believing in dreams, fortune telling or spiritists. It also frowns upon palm reading, astrology and use of Ouija board.

Father Pacwa explained that many of these activities which can play a role in the New Age movement are forbidden by God, giving his power to creatures. If youve been involved in any of these things, go to confession and ask Gods forgiveness.

The solution to the New Age movement, Father Pacwa concluded, is encouraging New Agers to study the Gospels and learn about Christ. People involved in New Age are searching for meaning in life, the true meaning being found only in Christ. People are often attracted to New Age for selfish reasons, he asserted, because they dont want to believe in objective good and evil and dont want to obey Gods law, preferring instead to create their own.

We can’t arrest our way out of Mass. and Cass – The Boston Globe

Posted: at 7:47 am

Civil liberties advocates, business leaders, and Boston mayoral candidates all agree: New approaches are needed to address the pressing public health crisis in the area of Massachusetts Avenue and Melnea Cass Boulevard. The roots of the Mass. and Cass crisis the distinct yet overlapping challenges of substance use disorder, mental health crises, homelessness, economic injustice, and over-policing require bold, evidence-based solutions that extend beyond a single intersection.

City and state leaders must respond to these complex and interrelated challenges for what they are: public health crises, not crimes.

Our countrys 50-year failed War on Drugs and locally, Operation Clean Sweep prove that short-term law enforcement interventions are both ineffective and risk violating peoples civil rights. We will never be able to arrest our way out of the overdose epidemic or the tragedy of rampant homelessness. Experience teaches that violating peoples civil rights undermines both public health and public safety. And studies consistently show that medical treatment and prevention not punishment save lives and keep our communities healthy.

To that end, local and state government officials must actively and consistently engage clinicians, community health workers, housing advocates, and other experts to coordinate new data-driven solutions to this crisis.

City officials should continue to proactively convene community stakeholders, impacted people, and experts to discuss how elected leaders can make smart investments in prevention, treatment, and harm reduction infrastructure to ensure people at risk of overdose can receive the care and support they need. City and state leaders should focus on ways to provide more housing and promptly provide safe, non-carceral places to rest, wash, and seek shelter free from COVID risks. State leaders must partner with city officials to overcome discriminatory barriers to siting decisions so that all of our communities are part of the solution. Most of all, our leaders at all levels should embrace a public health approach to facilitate a safer environment for all affected people, including neighbors and local businesses.

Experience across the country and around the world demonstrates that harm reduction strategies are key to saving lives and keeping communities healthy. Safe consumption sites, like the pilot project recently authorized in Rhode Island, are illustrative. These medical facilities provide a person who uses drugs with sterilized equipment and access to health care services, as well as overdose-reversal medications as needed, free from fear of criminal prosecution. Already operational in Canada, Australia, and Europe, safe consumption sites are proven to save lives because they create a contained site for drug use, a safe space for people to access substance use disorder treatment information and referrals, and immediate medical intervention when needed. There is no evidence of increased crime associated with these facilities; in fact, safe consumption sites help create safer communities by reducing public drug consumption and publicly discarded syringes and supplies.

Recognizing the success of safe consumption facilities in other countries, Massachusetts 2018 Harm Reduction Commission recommended that a pilot program of one or more supervised consumption sites should be part of the Commonwealths efforts to combat the opioid crisis. Now state lawmakers are considering legislation that would establish such a pilot program. Like Somerville, Boston leaders should do all they can to advocate for this policy.

Municipal policy is only one piece of the puzzle; we also need to reform state and federal laws that reflect the outdated mind-set of the War on Drugs. Our countrys approach to drug use has wasted hundreds of billions of taxpayer dollars and subjected millions of people disproportionately Black and brown people to over-policing and mass incarceration. And it doesnt work: Last year, more than 93,000 people died of overdoses in the United States, the highest number ever recorded. If anything, the criminal approach has exacerbated the opioid crisis by increasing stigma and creating barriers to housing.

The vast majority of American voters support eliminating criminal penalties for drug possession and replacing it with an approach centered in public health. This is how places like Portugal which eliminated criminal penalties for drugs 20 years ago have reduced overdose deaths by 80 percent. Oregon voters enacted a similar reform at the ballot in 2020.

Massachusetts can do better. Each year, thousands of people are charged for drug possession, cycled through jails and prisons, and placed on probation and parole for extended periods. Their criminal records can lock them out of jobs, housing, education, and more, derailing their lives and driving them to the streets. States and localities can save money by cutting unnecessary and counterproductive criminal system expenditures no longer arresting, prosecuting, convicting, incarcerating, and punishing people for drug possession. That money is better invested in peoples health, housing, and education.

Fortunately, Massachusetts lawmakers have proposed legislation that would make personal possession of scheduled drugs a civil not criminal violation, and offer people another pathway to recovery instead. Passage of this bill would go a long way toward redirecting public resources from the failed carceral approaches of the past to proven public health solutions needed for the future.

The situation at Mass. and Cass is not an isolated problem, and we cannot solve it with shortsighted solutions. Homelessness, mental health issues, and substance use disorder in Massachusetts are symptomatic of the states worsening overdose epidemic and lack of adequate investments in public health and affordable housing. With opioid-related overdose deaths rising across Massachusetts, federal, state, and local governments must work together to change course by investing in public health approaches that will make our communities safer for everybody.

Carol Rose is the executive director of the ACLU of Massachusetts.

Chuck Schumer Says Key Senators Have ‘Agreement’ Not To Advance Marijuana Banking Reform Before Legalization – Marijuana Moment

Posted: at 7:47 am

A key House committee on Thursday approved a bill to federally legalize marijuana and promote social equity.

The Marijuana Opportunity, Reinvestment and Expungement (MORE) Act cleared the House Judiciary Committee, which is chaired by the legislations sponsor, Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-NY), on a 26-15 vote. The tally fell largely along party lines, with all Democrats supporting the measure and all but two Republicans voting against it.

The development comes one week after the full House voted in favor of a defense spending bill that includes an amendment that would protect banks that service state-legal cannabis businessesfrom being penalized by federal regulators.

This long overdue and historic legislation would reverse failed federal policies criminalizing marijuana. It would also take steps to address the heavy toll this policy has taken across the country, particularly among communities of color, Nadler said in opening remarks. I have long believed that the criminalization of marijuana has been a mistake. The racially disparate enforcement of marijuana laws has only made it worse, with serious consequences, particularly for communities of color.

Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX) said that this is an important criminal justice reform bill, and I commend the chairman for once again introducing this bill and bringing it before the committee. In fact, it consolidates the discussions that weve had about the overincarceration of individuals who were addicted or caught up in the cycle of drugs, many of them people of color in inner city neighborhoods.

Ranking Member Jim Jordan (R-OH) voiced opposition to the proposal, calling it a radical, out-of-touch Democrat priority and a marijuana stimulus bill.

Watch lawmakers debate and vote on the legalization proposal in the video below:

Rep. Steve Cohen (D-TN) discussed how cannabis criminalization has been historically used to target communities of color. He said the time for legalization has come, and time came a long time ago.

Nadler also emphasized the racial disparities in marijuana enforcement by pointing out that his own son was caught selling cannabis in high school but was brought back to his home rather than incarcerated. The chairman said if his son was black, police would have arrested him.

Although most Republicans who spoke argued against the bill, Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL), who is a cosponsor of it, made the case for reform.

I am a proud co-sponsor of the MORE Act because the federal government has screwed up marijuana policy in this country for a generation, he said. We lied to people about the effects of marijuana. And then we used marijuana as a cudgel to incarcerate just wide swaths of communities, and particularly in African-American communities.

We cannot honestly say that the war on drugs impacted suburban white communities in the same way it affected urban black communities. We cant say that marijuana enforcement was happening the same way on the corner than it was happening in the fraternity house, he said. We have an opportunity to fix that problem. The war on drugs, much like many of our forever wars, has been a failure. If theres been a war on drugs, drugs have won that war.

However, he expressed certain concerns about provisions of the legislation such as the proposed federal excise tax on cannabis sales. While Gaetz also said that while he supports the MORE Act, he doesnt feel it stands a chance in the Senate and recommended advancing more modest reform.

While the legislation has largely stayed intact compared to the prior version that passed the chamber last year in a historic vote, there were some modest revisions that were incorporated upon its reintroduction in May.

The panel on Thursday considered additional changes before moving the measure forward, although much of the time was spent debating unrelated issues such as COVID-19 vaccines, abortion policy and protests against police violence.

Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) sought to remove the bills tax provisions as well as grant funds it would create to help repair the harms of the war on drugs.

A libertarian-leaning lawmaker, Massie backs the general idea of ending cannabis prohibition but is not in favor of creating new government programs.

If you want a bill that is not politically paralyzed, if you want a bill that can reach across the aisle, if you want a bill that can pass the Senatethat theyll be motivated to bring up in the Senatethen please vote for my amendment, which leaves most of the bill intact. Massie said. Lets work across the aisle and lets get a serious bill to the floor.

The amendment was ruled out of order by the chairman, however, because it proposed changes to sections of the bill that are under the jurisdiction of other committees.

A proposed amendment from Rep. Tom Tiffany (R-WI) would have prohibited people with convictions for rioting, looting or destruction of property from benefiting from justice-related grants established under the bill. It was defeated in a 19-15 vote.

Rep. Scott Fitzgerald (R-WI) filed an amendment that would have similarly restricted grant funds from going to people who have been convicted of trafficking drugs while possessing firearms. It failed by a vote of 20-15. Fitzgerald also put forth a proposal aimed at blocking people who have cheated on their taxes from benefitting from the grant programs. That too was rejected, by a 20-16 tally.

An amendment from Rep. Dan Bishop (R-NC) would have made it so the awarding of marijuana revenue-funded grants could not discriminate against or otherwise disfavor an individual or entity on the basis of the COVID-19 vaccination status of an individual or the advocacy by an individual or entity with respect to any COVID-19 vaccination mandate. It was defeated in a 21-18 vote.

Bishop also filed an amendment to require the Department of Transportation to develop best practices for detecting marijuana-impaired driving, but it was deemed to be not in order because it falls under the jurisdiction of another committee.

Nadlerscannabis legislation passed the House last yearbut did not advance in the Senate under GOP control. This time around, advocates are optimistic that something like the chairmans bill could be enacted now that Democrats run both chambers and the White House, and as more states are moving to enact legalization.

The legislation wouldremove marijuana from the Controlled Substances Act (CSA), allow people with cannabis convictions to have their records expunged and create a federal tax on marijuana with the revenue going to support community reinvestment and other programs.

It also contains language to create a pathway for resentencing for those incarcerated for cannabis offenses, protect immigrants from being denied citizenship over marijuana and prevent federal agencies from denying public benefits or security clearance due to its use.

Reps. Earl Blumenauer (D-OR) and Barbara Lee (D-CA), who cochair the Congressional Cannabis Caucus, released a joint statement calling the Judiciary Committee vote part of a monumental effort to get the federal government in step with the rest of America, and [a] move toward modernizing our federal cannabis policies and realizing restorative justice.

This is the most comprehensive piece of cannabis legislation Congress has ever seen, and continuing its momentum couldnt be more important to our fight to address the fact that Congress continues to lag behind 37 states that have legalized either adult-use or medical cannabis, they said. We will continue to build a broad coalition of support in Congress and work closely with our allies in the Senate to put forth a successful framework to finally reform our outdated, out-of-touch cannabis laws, because its time for Congress to catch up with the American people.

The ACLU and the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rightswhich includes NAACP, Human Rights Campaign, Anti-Defamation League, National Organization for Women and People for the American Way, National Urban League, National Education Association, American Federation of Teachers and the AFSCME and AFL-CIO labor unionswrote a letter of support for the legislation ahead of the markup.

The groups said the MORE Act addresses the collateral consequences of federal marijuana criminalization and takes steps to ensure the legal marketplace is diverse and inclusive of individuals adversely affected by prohibition. It also takes significant steps to right the wrongs of decades of federal marijuana criminalization by providing for the expungement and resentencing of marijuana offenses.

But while advocates have broadly embraced the legislation and urged its passage, some have raised concerns about certain provisions and hope the bill can be revised as it moves through the process.

ACLU and the Leadership Conference, for example, expressed concerns about a component that was added to render so-called drug kingpins ineligible for expungements, pointing out that such language has been interpreted broadly by courts and would prevent individuals who are not high-level participants from seeking relief under the bills expungement and resentencing provisions.

If the exclusion remains, individuals excluded from the expungement process will continue to be blocked from accessing employment, housing, and an education based on their prior convictions, it said. We believe the bill should be amended to ensure that those with excluded convictions are eligible for expungement within five years, assuming there have been no new convictions in the intervening time. Such a change will stay true to the intent of the bill and provide relief to those caught up in outdated enforcement efforts.

Meanwhile, theres been some contention between advocates and stakeholders on which reform should come first: the bipartisan banking legislation thats cleared the House in some form five times now or the comprehensive legalization bill that passed the chamber for the first time late last year.

Legalization advocates do want to see legislation from Rep. Ed Perlmutter (D-CO) become enacted, as there are public safety problems caused by all-cash businesses and it would take an important step toward normalizing the growing industry. But social equity-minded activists argue that advancing the incremental reform first would mainly benefit large marijuana businesses without addressing the harms of cannabis criminalization.

The fate of the banking proposal will likely be decided in conference with the Senate, which has not included the policy change in its National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) and where key lawmakers have insisted that they will push for broader reform before allowing the incremental change to be enacted.

Separately, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), Finance Committee Chairman Ron Wyden (R-OR) and Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) are alsoleading the charge on a legalization bill in their chamber. But weeks after apublic comment period on a draft versionof the proposal closed, finalized text has yet to be formally filedand its far from certain that Schumer will be able to find enough votes to advance the comprehensive reform through his chamber.

It should be noted that President Joe Bidenremains firmly opposed to adult-use marijuana legalization. While he supports more modest reforms such as decriminalizing cannabis, expunging prior records and letting states set their own marijuana policies, theres an open question about whether he would be moved to sign a broad bill like the MORE Act or the Senate legalization legislation should such a proposal reach his desk.

With respect to theMORE Act, the latest version does not include language that was added just before last years House floor vote that would have prevented people with previous cannabis convictions from obtaining federal permits to operate marijuana businesses. That was a contentious provision that appeared at the last minute and which advocates strongly opposed.

And whereas the the prior version of the legislation contained language to help economically disadvantaged people enter the legal marijuana market, that language was revised to extend Small Business Administration (SBA) aidsuch as loans, financial literacy programs and job trainingto help people who have been harmed by the war on drugs pursue business opportunities in any industry, not just cannabis.

Advocates are encouraged by the new revisions to the bill, but there are still additional components they hope to see changed as it goes through the legislative process. For example, they also took issue with provisionsadded to the MORE Act prior to last years votethat would have stipulated that cannabis can still be included in drug testing programs for federal workers.

The current version of the MORE Act has 76 cosponsors. In addition to the Judiciary Committee, it has been referred to eight other panels. While last Congresss version of the bill went straight to the floor after clearing its first stop because other committees waived their jurisdiction, its not clear if that will happen again this time.

NORML Political Director Justin Strekal said a floor vote should be scheduled immediately.

Never before has public support from every corner of the political spectrum been so aligned as to demand that Congress take action to end the shameful experiment with marijuana prohibition, he said. The continued criminalization of marijuana by the federal government is an affront to our professed ideals of freedom, liberty and justice. By advancing the MORE Act, the House will demonstrate that the majority of our political leaders are ready to correct this injustice and enact cannabis policy reform that undoes the harms that have been inflicted upon millions of otherwise law-abiding citizens.

Separately, a proposal to federally deschedule marijuana that does not include social equity components wasfiled by a pair of Republican congressmenin May.

Big Money’s War on the Build Back Better Plan – Inequality.org

Posted: at 7:47 am

As the nations largest grassroots member organization, with more than a million members in 32 states, we see a future with room for all, where every one of us can thrive. But none of this will happen unless we make the long-delayed investments our communities need. The Build Back Better plan is a down payment on our brighter future.

In our new report,Behind The Curtain: The Corporate Plot to Upend Democracy, we zero in on whos spending big to stop key parts of the Biden plan: including fairer taxes, drug pricing, health care, housing, and immigration, as well as big investments in green jobs and our environment.

We name the bad actors and show how they undermine our democracy and our economy. All across the country, our members are taking this message to the doorsteps of corporations to tell them weve had enough.

Twenty corporations and their associations led by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and the National Association of Realtors have spent over $201 million on lobbying so far this year.

The pharmaceutical and health care industries alone which oppose the Biden administrations efforts to lower drug prices and expand health coverage have spent $171 million in 2021 on lobbying, more than any other industry. They employ 1,500 lobbyists in Washington three for every member of Congress.

Meanwhile, people in the United States pay the highest prices in the world for prescription drugs and health care. That aint right!

A lot of attention has gone to the price tag of the Build Back Better plan: $3.5 trillion over 10 years. But thats not deficit spending its funded by reversing tax cuts for the very rich. Andexperts agreethe package will pay for itself.

It will spur economic activity, unlike Donald Trumps 2017 tax cuts, which add $2.3 trillion to the national debt.As a direct result of Trumps giveaways, 82 ultra-rich families have been able to avoid paying over $1 billion in taxes, and many large corporations pay no taxes at all.

The Build Back Better plan will reverse Trumps giveaways to raise money for expanded health benefits and a permanent Child Tax Credit. More savings come by allowing Medicare and the Department of Health and Human Services to negotiate drug prices, whichwill save $450 billionandreduce pricesfor branded drugs by 55 percent.

The United States is more unequal than ever. If were going to heal the wounds in our economy and our society, we need Congress and the president to deliver what the people want and need: assistance and investments so we can survive and thrive. That is exactly what the Biden Build Back Better plan does.

Our economy, our democracy, and our lives all hang in the balance. Make no mistake: the time is now. Its corporations versus the people in this Build Back Battle, and its time for the people to win.

MDMA and magic mushrooms could be used to treat mental illness in Australia after promising report – ABC News

Posted: at 7:47 am

A review by an independent expert panel has found MDMA and psilocybin or "magic mushrooms" may show promise for therapeutic use.

The review, which was commissioned by Australia's Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) and released on Thursday, found the psychedelic drugs could potentially be used to treat treatment-resistant mental illnesses - but only if they were used in closely supervised clinical settings, with intensive professional support.

The TGA has been assessing whether to down-schedule MDMA and psilocybin from prohibited (schedule 9) to controlled (schedule 8) drugs.

That means, if the drugs were rescheduled, they could be used in clinical therapies to treat depression, post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other complex mental illnesses.

MDMA and other psychedelics have been considered dangerous ever since the "war on drugs" began but scientific research into their therapeutic uses is always evolving.

While Thursday's report brings Australia one step closer to seeing MDMA and psilocybin being used to treat mental illnesses, the TGA won't make a final decision on the reclassification until December.

Director of psychedelic research at Edith Cowan University's school of medical and health sciences, Dr Stephen Bright, thinks it's only a matter of time before psychedelics are used in mental health therapies.

"There's a lot of research into how psilocybin can be used in the treatment of treatment-resistant depression, for obsessive compulsive disorder, to help people come to terms with an end-stage illness, for substance use disorders."

Doctor Bright believes MDMA will go mainstream first, despite it not being a "classic psychedelic".

"MDMA is primarily being used to treat Post Traumatic Stress Disorder but there is also some interesting research looking at MDMA to treat anxiety among adults with autism," he said.

"Earlier this year there was a phase three clinical trial published, and so we're getting data that's sort of beyond promising now."

Like anything that's ever been prohibited, where there's a will, there's a way.

"I think there's a really fine line between what we call recreational use and medical use, because there's certainly people using some of these psychedelic drugs in an underground therapeutic environment at the moment," Dr Bright said.

"And the problem with that is they're unregulated, we don't have any quality control."

While Dr Bright believes regulation would remove some of the dangers associated with drug use, he has strongly advised against self-medication.

"People that have a pre-existing mental health condition, adding the drug on top of that, without the proper psychotherapy is actually quite dangerous and could lead to their mental health condition becoming worse rather than better," he said.

Despite the growing body of research, Dr Bright believes medical use is still a long way off.

"We need to upscale the research that we're doing and offer ample opportunity for psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and counsellors to be trained up in therapy and deliver it."

Merlin Faber is a lot of things: a convicted drug offender, law student, and believer that "you have to try everything once." He was also asleep the morning a parcel arrived that changed his life.

"I heard a knock on the door, went to sign for a package and went back to bed thinking it was motorcycle parts or something I'd ordered from overseas," the 27-year-old said.

Merlin Faber wants MDMA and psilocybin decriminalised for therapeutic use.

Merlin Faber wants MDMA and psilocybin decriminalised for therapeutic use.

But it wasn't motorcycle parts. It was half a kilogram of MDMA.

"About 10 to 15 minutes later, I heard about 20 car doors slamming outside my house, people at the front and back door, knocking on the windows and yelling my name.

"That's when I realised that the Australian Federal Police had become involved."

Merlin first tried psychedelics as a teenager with friends in Canada, and describes his own experiences as therapeutic.

"I found that people who had suffered traumas early on in their life became much more open."

In 2017, he met a guy at university in Adelaide, who shared his interest in psychedelics.

"This person sort of knew the ways and means to procure drugs online. And so we began talking about our experiences, and it was something that I was told that I could get help with," he said.

"I wasn't involved really in the procurement."

But a jury disagreed and found him guilty of importing a marketable quantity of a border-controlled drug.

Merlin was eventually sentenced to four years in prison, with a non-parole period of 16 months.

"Prison was definitely a significant impact... I would never recommend it to anybody," he said.

For Merlin, the notion that MDMA and psilocybin could be decriminalised for medicinal use is music to his ears - but not for the reason you might expect.

"The use of psilocybin as a treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, and end of life therapy is really quite amazing," he said.

"And so, seeing things in Australia change, like the decriminalisation of marijuana use in the ACT, it really does make you feel hopeful."

Having recently been released on parole, Merlin is now studying law at the University of South Australia and hopes to use his experience to help others.

"It's galvanised my resolve for advocating for a re-assessment of attitudes towards how we treat people, mostly in regard to drugs."

Watching the members of New Hampshires Executive Council behave like Keystone Cops would be funny if real lives werent being hurt by their shenanigans. They voted to defund womens health services, and then a few days later performed what amounted to a finger-pointing backward moonwalk trying to excuse their bad policy vote by blaming the Department of Health and Human Services for not providing enough information.

Meanwhile, Gov. Chris Sununu is getting tongue-tied having to explain their antics and his own. The self-proclaimed pro-choice governor signed what he called common sense anti-abortion legislation, and now his double-talk has him sputtering we can fix it! The fact is, he doesnt have a club big enough for all the political whack-a-mole problems he and his friends have created for themselves.

What I want to know is, why are a bunch of old white men so opposed to funding womens health? Is it really about abortion? Or is it about providing services to women in general, and especially women of color who are disproportionately affected by those cuts?

I think the abortion controversy is a right-wing proxy war on people of color. Similar to President Richard Nixons war on drugs, white supremacists have a new, divisive distraction that can make them appear virtuous while oppressing and othering our sisters and our daughters.

I think the people of New Hampshire need to wake up to the Republicans in Concord. Whether its womens rights, teaching truth in schools or trying to do the right thing for life on the planet, New Hampshire is moving backward while our more progressive neighbors are engaging in the present and looking to the future.

Does the U.S. have an immigration crisis? There are tens of thousands of refugees from some of the poorest countries in the world at our southern border. Amid political finger-pointing, we reject Americas historical commitment to asylum and instead choose to be inhumane, flying people shackled in handcuffs back to Haiti, pushing people back into Mexico or locking people in camps.

If Bangladesh can handle nearly 1 million Rohingya refugees, Pakistan can handle more than 1.4 million Afghan refugees, Germany can accept 1 million Syrian refugees and Jordan can accommodate more than half a million Syrians, the U.S. does not have an immigration crisis. We have a morality crisis.

My idea for Newport Middle High School, regarding the bathrooms being destroyed, would be to set up a few outhouses or bring in a few portable toilets (TikTok trend-linked vandalism closes down bathrooms at Newport Middle High School, Sept. 25).

I bet by spring there would be a whole lot of respect for the indoor bathrooms.

U.S. Scientists’ Role in the Eugenics Movement (19071939 …

Posted: at 7:46 am

In this special issue devoted to the study of pigmentation, it is only fitting that we reflect on how this trait has been utilized to promote specific political and social agendas in both the United States and Europe. It was Francis Galton, a cousin of Darwin, who coined the term eugenics in 1883 while advocating that society should promote the marriage of what he felt were the fittest individuals by providing monetary incentives.1 Shortly thereafter, many intellectuals and political leaders (e.g., Alexander Graham Bell, Winston Churchill, John Maynard Keynes, and Woodrow Wilson) accepted the notion that modern societies, as a matter of policy, should promote the improvement of the human race through various forms of governmental intervention. While initially this desire was manifested as the promotion of selective breeding, it ultimately contributed to the intellectual underpinnings of state-sponsored discrimination, forced sterilization, and genocide.

From the perspective of an academic in 2008, it can be hard to fathom how pioneering studies of chromosomal segregation would be juxtaposed to studies of Pedigrees of Pauper Stocks in England, Individual and Racial Inheritance of Musical Traits or Heritable Factors in Human Fitness and Their Social Control. These examples come from the 1923 report of the Second International Congress of Eugenics, titled Eugenics, Genetics, and the Family.2 In the opening address, Henry F. Osborn, then president of the American Museum of Natural History in New York (the site of the meeting), stated,

In the US we are slowly waking to the consciousness that education and environment do not fundamentally alter racial values. We are engaged in a serious struggle to maintain our historic republican institutions through barring the entrance of those unfit to share in the duties and responsibilities of our well-founded government. In the matter of racial virtues, my opinion is that from biological principles there is little promise in the melting-pot theory. Put three races together (Caucasian, Mongolian, and the Negroid) you are likely to unite the vices of all three as the virtues. For the worlds work give me a pure-bloodedascertain through observation and experiment what each race is best fitted to accomplish. If the Negro fails in government, he may become a fine agriculturist or a fine mechanic. The right of the state to safeguard the character and integrity of the race or races on which its future depends is, to my mind, as incontestable as the right of the state to safeguard the health and morals of its peoples.

It is important to appreciate that within the U.S. and European scientific communities these ideas were not fringe but widely held and taught in universities. The report of the Eugenics meeting was the lead story in the journal Science on October 7, 1921, and this opening address was published, in its entirety, beginning on the first page of the issue.3

To understand why eugenics became a serious scientific movement in the 1920s, it is useful to look back 20 years earlier. In 1902, Charles B. Davenport, then a Professor of Zoology at the University of Chicago, approached the Carnegie Institution with a request for $45,000 to create a Biological Experiment Station for the study of evolution on the Cold Spring Harbor Campus.4 His aim would be the analytic and experimental study of the causes of specific differentiationof race change. He proposed to accomplish this by the cross breeding of animals and plants to find the laws of commingling of qualitiesthe study of the laws and limits of inheritance.4 Within this brief two-page proposal, Davenport commingles the scientific genetic approach that dated back to Mendel with his personal fascination with the perceived human racial differences of his day.

Within 5 years the Experimental Evolution Department had established over 100 animal stocks that included 20 mammals and dozens of insects (including crickets and Drosophila), and over 400 flowering plants.5 It took until 1910 for Davenport to begin studies on human inheritance with the creation of the Eugenics Record Office. Financial support came from Mrs. E.H. Harriman (a wealthy philanthropist), John Harvey Kellogg (the breakfast cereal magnate), and the American Breeders' Association. This association was the first membership-based group whose mission included the promotion of eugenics research in the United States through a subcommittee chaired by ichthyologist and Stanford University President David Starr Jordan.6,7 By 1918, H.H. Laughlin was hired as the superintendent of the Eugenics Records Office, which transitioned from a freestanding, self-supporting endeavor to a sub-department of the Experimental Evolution Department under the control of the Carnegie Institution.8 Davenport conceived of this office to mainly serve eugenical interests in the capacity of repository and clearing house and to provide data adequate to making eugenical studies.8 Their method was to collect family histories from better families and subnormal families based upon methods previously described by Galton.

By the 1920s, three major efforts pushed the eugenic agenda in the United States and subsequently throughout Europe: (1) The Eugenics Research Association with Laughlin and Davenport as leaders and in affiliation with the American Association of the Advancement of Science (AAAS). (2) The American Eugenics Society founded by Laughlin, Harry Crampton, Madison Grant, and Henry Fairfield Osborn with the purpose of promoting the eugenical movement at both the scientific and popular level. (3) The Eugenics Records Office, directed by Davenport and run by Laughlin with the express purpose of providing the scientific data to support the eugenics movement.

A concerted effort of this magnitude with the expressed support of the mainstream scientific establishment (e.g., AAAS as operator of the journal Science; the American Breeders' Association, which later became the American Genetics Association; and the Carnegie Institution) had an effect throughout both the scientific and governmental establishments worldwide. Specifically, by 1936 when both England and the U.S. genetic scientific communities finally condemned eugenical sterilization, over 60,000 forced sterilizations were already performed in the United States on mostly poor (and often African-American) people confined to mental hospitals.9,10 The practice of forced sterilizations for the unfit was almost unanimously supported by eugenicists. The American Eugenics Society had hoped, in time, to sterilize one-tenth of the U.S. population, or millions of Americans.11

Laughlin's publication of Eugenical Sterilization in the United States in 1922 included the drafting of a model law for compulsory sterilization that was the bedrock of forced sterilization programs throughout the country. According to Davenport, Laughlin's book on sterilization is recognized as the standard.12 In 1930, Laughlin comments about the U.S. Supreme Court upholding a Virginia sterilization statute as, the establishment of the eugenical authority of the state[enabling] the prevention of hereditary degeneration by a method sound from the legal, eugenical and humanitarian points of view.It is now possible for any state, if it desires to do so, to enact a sterilization statute.12 A typical study prepared by Laughlin and used to justify these laws is excerpted below:

The Problem of the Feeble-Minded in Connecticutthe 11,962 feeble-minded personsthe total number who came under the purview of the Surveyhave been studied individually in reference to nine subject as follows: (1) sex, (2) age, (3) recidivism, (4) diagnostic class, (5) intelligence quotient, (6) race descent, (7) nativity, (8) citizenship, (9) kin in institutions. At the present rate every inhabitant of Connecticut is expending5 and 1/3 as many dollars on the socially inadequate and the individually handicapped as the average inhabitant was spending for the same purpose 20 years ago.13

Davenport's eugenical research is very typical of countless studies purporting to link perceived human differences to the burgeoning field of Genetics. This work is best appreciated by quoting the author directly:

Successful naval officers are of various types. The three commonist traits are: (1) love of sea; (2) capacity for fighting; (3) capacity for commanding or administering. The performance of a man depends in large degree upon his inherent, inheritable traits. The sea makes to different people varied appeal. The love of the sea, sea-lust or thalasssophilia is apparently a specific trait to be differentiated from wanderlust or love of adventure. One of the most striking characteristics of sealust is that it is wholly a male characterso the appeal of the sea develops under the secretion of the germ gland in the boy. It is theoretically possible that some mothers are heterozygous for love of the sea, so that when married to a thalassophilic man half of their children will show sea-lust and half will not.14

What is often not appreciated is that Nazi efforts were bolstered by the published works of the American eugenics movement as the intellectual underpinnings for its social policies. One of Hilter's first acts after gaining control of the German government was the passage of the Law for the Prevention of Hereditarily Diseased Offspring (Gesetz zur Verhtung erbkranken Nachwuchses) in July 1933.15 The Nazis, when proposing their own sterilization program, specifically noted the success of sterilization laws in California documented most notably by the American eugenicist P.B. Popenoe.16 The Nazi program ultimately resulted in the sterilization of 360,000375,000 persons.9 The intellectual linkage between the United States and Nazi eugenic programs is further illustrated by Davenport's presence on the editorial boards of two influential German racial hygiene journals, Zeitschrift fr Rassenkunde und ihrer Nachbargebiete and the Zeitschrift fr menschliche Vererbungs- und Konstitutionslehre.17 Sadly, with the benefit of 70 years hindsight, we can see the alignment of the stated goals of the Eugenics Records Office with Nazi social engineering programs as revealed by Davenport:

To investigate the nature of those forces or agencies which improve or impair racial or family-stock qualities. These forces which act upon immigration, mate selection and fertility, differential by race and family-stock quality are those which have been given most attention. In the field of immigration, studies have been made in Europe and America on the selection of immigrants have played as recruits to the breeding stock of the American people. Many of these researches were conducted in collaboration with the Committee on Immigration and Naturalization of the House of Rep. and the Immigration Service of the U.S. Government.18

It wasn't until 1935 that a review panel convened by the Carnegie Institution concluded that the Eugenics Research Office research did not have scientific merit, and subsequently withdrew funding in 1939.19 In examining this dark history of American science, it is equally important to appreciate that eugenics was but a small part the work of the Carnegie. The Department that Davenport created, which under his tenure later became the Genetics Department in 1920, was not focused on eugenics. In fact, often eugenics-related work represented less than 1 page in what was typically a 30-page summary of the department's yearly activities. This was a department that went on to support the efforts of Thomas Hunt Morgan (genes are carried on chromosomes, for which he was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1933), Alfred Hershey and Martha Chase (DNA as genetic material), A.H. Sturtevant (first genetic chromosomal map, 1 map unit=1% frequency of recombination), and Barbara McClintock (transposons, for which she received the 1983 Nobel Prize).

In this special Pigmentation Issue, and on the eve of the election of our first President of European/African ancestry, it is useful to revisit the history of the eugenics movement to recognize the contributions of the scientists who have eliminated it from today's scientific life and analyze and learn from our mistakes.

In 1925, T.H. Morgan clearly identifies an important criticism of the eugenics movement. He directly attacks Davenport's and Laughlin's approach (without mentioning their names) by pointing out that despite all their exhaustive family pedigrees, they failed to really understand the nature of the trait they thought they were studying.

In the case of man's physical defects, there are a few extremely abnormal conditions where the evidence indicates that something is inherited, but even here there is much that is obscure. The case most often quoted is feeble-mindedness that has been said to be inherited as a Mendelian recessive, but until some more satisfactory definition can be given as to where feeble-mindedness begins and ends, and until it has been determined how many and what internal physical defects may produce a general condition of this sort, and until it has been determined to what extent feeble-mindedness is due to syphilis, it is extravagant to pretend to claim there is a single Mendelian factor for this conditionuntil all the social conditions surrounding the childhood of the individual are examined and given proper weight, serious doubts will arise as to what form of inheritances is producing the results.20

Some have argued that the lesson of this period was that:

Genetics was corrupted in the 1920s by the confusion of folk knowledge with scientific inference. For whatever reasons, outsiders who recognized it were shunned, and insiders were, as they say, a day late and a dollar short. The fairly obvious lesson to be learned is that where science appears to validate folk beliefs, it needs to be subjected to considerably higher standards of scrutiny than ordinary science.21

We may want to ask ourselves: What (if anything) that we research today will seem as unfathomable as the sex-linked trait, love of the sea?

Killing Off Humanity: How the Global Elite is using Eugenics and Transhumanism to Shape Our Future – Sri Lanka Guardian

Posted: at 7:46 am

Given the enormous sophistication and complexity of the elite agenda being implemented under cover of the so-called SARS-CoV-2 virus, our resistance must match the sophistication of the coup if it is to succeed. And, in this case, it will require far more action in the home than on the street.

by Robert J. Burrowes

[ LONG READ]

Fully understanding significant world events as they happened yesterday and unfold today invariably requires an understanding of the long arc of history; that is, knowledge about how the human world really works. Moreover, without that understanding, it is impossible to devise and implement an effective response. This is certainly the case in the world of 2021.

Increasingly, people around the world are realizing that there is a great deal more going on under cover of the official narrative that we are the victims of a virus that has, so far, required 18 months of onerous restrictions and a series of government-ordered mandates that tell us all that we must submit to several experimental, gene-altering injections and other measures that will deny our rights and freedoms ongoingly into the future.

What most people do not yet realize is that this deeper agenda is monumentally huge: the world as we knew it has ended. Moreover, if we are to recover the vaguest semblance of what we once had and, hopefully, an even better version of it, we have an equally monumental struggle ahead of us.

Undoubtedly, despite extensive effort by elite agents including international organizations (such as the UN and WHO), governments, the medical and pharmaceutical industries, and the corporate media to conceal what is happening, the massive death toll and other costs that have resulted from the near-total dislocation of the global economy, coupled with the rapidly increasing death and damage toll from the injectables program, are key factors in this awakening. See, for example,Local Detroit TV Asks for Stories of Unvaxxed Dying from COVID Gets over 180K Responses of Vaccine Injured and Dead Instead.

Tragically, however, virtually all who become aware that something is wrong do not understand the long arc of history and are therefore trapped in a powerless mode of complaint and begging elite agents, such as governments and legal systems, to fix things for them. But this will not happen. SeeAre We Human? Are We Free? Defeating the World Economic Forums Great Reset before it Destroys Us. Consequently humanity rushes headlong to the fate planned for us by the elite long ago.

So while the global elites long-planned coup dtat marketed by the World Economic Forum asThe Great Reset is certainly intended to utterly transform the human individual and human society, the driving motivation of its agenda remains hidden.

And yet this driving motivation is hidden in plain sight. The Global Elite intends to kill off a substantial portion of the human population while enslaving virtually all of those left alive. Why? So that the elite can control access to, and utilization of, the Earths remaining but now depleted resources.

Let me briefly explain something of the origin of this motivation, elaborate the key ways that it has manifested over the past 500 years and identify precisely how it is manifesting now. Most importantly, let me explain what we must do to resist this agenda effectively.

The Origin and Brief History of Eugenics

While the notion of selective breeding to secure offspring with desirable traits dates at least since the publication of PlatosRepublicin about 378 bce and has reappeared periodically since that time in one guise or another, the term eugenics was coined in 1883 by British explorer and natural scientist Francis Galton. During the early 20thcentury, eugenics was given the appearance of being serious scientific study because of its pursuit by both biologists and social scientists. Their interest was understanding the extent to which human characteristics considered socially important were inherited. Of particular interest were the predictability of intelligence and certain deviant behaviours. But interest was not confined to scientific laboratories and academic institutions: it soon gained attention in cultural thought in various parts of the world. SeeEugenics.

Notably, it attracted the attention of wealthy oligarchs who wanted a justification for elite rule of society that discarded outdated appeals to supernatural order and seemed to rest on a bedrock of science. An idea that could explain hownouveau richeupstarts like the Rockefellers and Rothschilds had risen to positions of prominence in society alongside the old royal dynasties of Europe. Eugenics fit the bill perfectly. The answer was in their genes. SeeHow Big Oil Conquered The World.

Of course, eugenics has always been pseudoscience. But it appealed to the vanity of the researchers, usually hailing from successful and wealthy families themselves. And it gave an excuse for social engineering on a scale never before dreamed of. The idea spread precisely because it provided an explanation of elite superiority and so, as soon as the idea crossed the Atlantic, it was picked up by Charles Davenport, a Harvard-trained zoologist who had grown up in a strict, puritanical family.

Davenport concocted an ambitious idea for furthering the eugenic cause: the creation of a Eugenics Record Office to register the genetic background of every single individual in the USA so that each person could be categorized by their family line and assigned a genetic rating. Once completed, those with the lowest eugenic value could be eliminated from the gene pool. Not surprisingly, Rockefeller individuals and institutions, as well as others, invested millions of dollars to fund research and other activities in support of these efforts to identify and control the eugenically unfit.

Consequently, fueled by the support of Americas rich and powerful and with the blessing of many high-profile public figures, the field of eugenics transformed from the quaint hobbyhorse of a few mad scientists into the social cause of an entire generation. Economists, politicians, authors, activists by the 1920s, everyone who was anyone was extolling the need to eradicate the germ-plasm of the lower stock. Popularized by the corporate media, taught at universities, written about in best-selling books, it became a mass movement. So while the state of Indiana had passed the first eugenic sterilization law in the United States in 1907, by 1927 the US Supreme Court had endorsed it and the practice had become commonplace. SeeHow Big Oil Conquered The WorldandBuck v. Bell: Inside the SCOTUS Case That Led to Forced Sterilization of 70,000 & Inspired the Nazis.

And, by this time, the Nazis in Germany were being inspired, encouraged, guided andfundedby eugenicists, particularly the Rockefellers, in the United States. The Third Reichs Law for the Prevention of Defective Progeny was passed on 14 July 1933, less than six months after Hitler was appointed interim chancellor. It mandated sterilization of defectives in eight different categories and, at its peak in the 1940s, resulted in the forced sterilization of 400,000 Germans. In this period too, the program was expanded to include euthanasia resulting in over 70,000 German children, senior citizens, and psychiatric patients being murdered by the Nazi regime. SeeHow Big Oil Conquered The World.

Of course, Germans were not the only victims of Nazi eugenics programs during World War II.

But so powerful had been US influence in shaping this program, that when senior Nazis were put on trial at Nuremberg after World War II for their eugenics program, the Nazi defence cited revered US Supreme Court Justice Oliver Wendall Holmes who wrote the 1927 US Supreme Court decision. SeeBuck v. Bell: Inside the SCOTUS Case That Led to Forced Sterilization of 70,000 & Inspired the Nazis.

Nevertheless, whatever damage was done to the eugenics movement by the radical interpretation of it that manifested in Nazi practices prior to and during World War II, ranging from sterilization to killing of people with a mental illness, physical disability, a history of poverty or criminal behaviour, or in relation to those people not conforming to their notion of racial hygiene, the movement has never gone away and has had some prominent exponents. In fact, it is now making a profound resurgence although its proponents know better than to label themselves eugenicists.

And the United States remains the true home of eugenicists with forced sterilization practiced up until the 1970s and still the law of the land in 2021. It doesnt happen now, you might say. SeeThe U.S. Is Still Forcibly Sterilizing Prisoners.

Nevertheless, it is true that the Nazi experience had tarnished the reputation of eugenics which forced ongoing work in the field to be disguised by repackaging. And this means that the ideas and many of its practices survive to this day but in different form and certainly under different labels.

But it should also be noted that while the above might be considered a heavily-abridged history of the formal eugenics movement, which scholars like Anton Chaitkin have elaborated listen toAnton Chaitkin on the Eugenics/Euthanasia Agenda and upon which others like Dr David Martin have cast a very different slant by highlighting the role of life insurance companies in driving it watchThe Illusion of Knowledge it is also true that one version or another of the practice, by various names in different contexts, has been around for a very long time. This is the case notwithstanding, for example, considerable academic discussion regarding the precise relationship or otherwise between eugenics and genocide. As one detailed study concluded: eugenics is in fact deeply implicated in the history of genocide once it is placed in a wider context. SeeEugenics and Genocide. Without delving deeper than 500 years into human history, consider the following, for example.

Since European imperialism began in the 15thcentury, adversely impacting indigenous peoples in many regions around the world who were subjected to the genocidal practices of their imperial conquerors, a steady sequence of geopolitical developments has taken place with each of these having a seriously adverse impact on local human populations: the enclosure of the commons and other measures that started being introduced during the industrial revolution in Europe in the 17thcentury and which denied local people the land on which their ancestors had lived for generations, the establishment of the system of nation-states with the Peace of Westphalia in 1648, as well as the widespread introduction of capitalism. Each of these transformations, involving military, political, economic and social measures, exacted a significant ongoing death toll readily attributed to the violence built into the state, industrial society, capitalism and colonialism.

But one way of understanding the ideas that justified and drove this violence, which took both direct and structural forms, is to consider them through the prism of eugenics. This is because the national elites who implemented these measures that have resulted in the massive displacement and death of local peoples the world over since the 15thcentury have always actively promoted this outcome against those they considered of lower stock (however this has been described in any given context), and as evidenced by their ongoing resistance to efforts to transform the global system into anything that offers recognition and an appropriate response to their imperial genocide of indigenous peoples or offers more equalized access to opportunities for ordinary people everywhere even now.

In essence, elite intention has never really wavered: Whatever ideology supposedly guided any elite in a particular context, the elite has usually wanted a substantial proportion of any local human population killed off and the bulk of those left alive reduced to slavery, in one form or another, while endlessly commandeering planetary resources for elite use.

And it has used a variety of means to achieve this. Notably, genocide (particularly against indigenous peoples in Africa; Asia; North, Central and South America; and Australia), war (with about 20 million people killed in World War I and 70-85 million people killed in World War II alone), and starvation through control of the global economy (which was already killing 100,000 people each day before the current crisis was generated to play its part).

Anyway, my point is simple: What is the World Economic Forums Great Reset all about? It is simply the latest (and intended final) step in the Global Elites long-standing eugenics agenda. In this instance, it is being further and primarily implemented through destruction of the global economy and the forced injectables program being carried out worldwide, with deployment of 5G and geoengineering playing roles as well, while the enslavement of those left alive is being achieved by measures to implement the technocratic/transhumanist agenda. SeeBeware the Transhumanists:How Being Humanis being Re-engineered by the Elites Covid-19 Coup.

If you think that this program is not being forced upon us, I hope that you will continue to monitor the destruction of your human rights, including your right to freedom of expression which includes the simple right to question and gain access to conflicting analyses of what is happening, so that the many (dis)guises under which this agenda is being implemented become clearer.

But your observation will also soon reveal that some other very basic human rights, such as those to food, medical choice and privacy are all but gone. And winning them back is going to take a monumental struggle and require millions of people acting strategically.

Killing off Humanity: Starvation

There are many ways to kill off a human population with, as touched on above, wars and genocide both obvious examples, and the death toll from wars and genocides over recent centuries is testament to their effectiveness in achieving substantial depopulation.

But if you want to kill off substantial human populations in a way that is less obvious to those not paying attention, two highly effective methods are starvation in those countries outside the West, where tens of millions die annually under the usual circumstances that is, as an inevitable outcome of the inequities built into capitalism which is designed to concentrate wealth without serious effort being made to address the problem, and by producing a toxic substance and compelling the bulk of the human population, one way or another, to submit to accepting it, through the air, their food and water, or even medically.

So while control of food, for example, is an ancient practice that can be dated to at least 4,000 years ago, today the world food supply is controlled by a small number of giant corporations interested only in profit, not sharing food equitably. Hence, while there is ample food, distribution reflects profitability not response to need. As a result: Each year tens of millions die from the most elementary lack of their daily bread. For a comprehensive account of corporate control of food, seeThe BA Cartel, Part 2andThe BA Cartel, Part 3.

But it is not just elite-driven corporate practice that is responsible for this starvation. Governments are actively involved in implementing elite policy in this regard too, as was made clear in the neo-Malthusian policy which Henry Kissinger promulgated in 1974 as U.S. Secretary of State, in his National Security Study Memorandum 200. SeeImplications of Worldwide Population Growth For U.S. Security and Overseas Interests. NSSM-200 outlined a policy of genocide and depopulation against the Third World, and ultimately, against the industrialized sector.

Just one factor in this elite control of food and the massive deaths by starvation it is generating is the model of industrial agriculture including large-scale corporate ownership of land (at the expense of millions of small-holders), the use of genetically mutilated organisms and extensive use of synthetic fertilizers, herbicides and pesticides that has been systematically imposed worldwide. For one account of this that elaborates the interrelated set of problems in some detail, seeIndustrial Ag Is Poisoning the World and Causing a Global Hunger Pandemic.

But since formal destruction of the global economy began in March 2020 (thus achieving the concealment of its fragility and likely collapse in any case), even the perverse distribution system in place as part of this corporate grip on the world food supply has been further distorted leading to what one author called lockdown starvation. By closing down the global economy supposedly in response to the pandemic, the global elite was able to conceal a significant component of its depopulation agenda by largely confining it to places where such deaths are already routine and readily ignored: countries in Africa, Asia and Central/South America. As a result, substantially greater numbers are dying of starvation now. See, for example,The Cure is Worse Than The Disease Whats Really Going On in India.

So while the sudden destruction of the global economy impoverished tens of millions of people in industrialized societies through unemployment, making them even more vulnerable to homelessness and destitution, in April 2020 the chief of the World Food Program, David Beasley, warned that: the world faces multiple famines of biblical proportions that could result in 300,000 deaths per day because of the starvation resulting from disruption of global food production and supply. SeeWFP chief warns of hunger pandemic as Global Food Crises Report launchedandCOVID-19 could kill more people through hunger than the disease itself, warns Oxfam.

More than a year later, in June 2021, Oxfam reported that 20 million more people have been pushed to extreme levels of food insecurity, reaching a total of 155 million people in 55 countries. Government measures to destroy economies since the alleged pandemic began, have seen the number of people living in famine-like conditions increase sixfold to more than 520,000.

What we saw as a global health crisis has quickly spiralled into an inflamed hunger crisis that has laid bare the stark inequality in our world. The worst is still yet to come unless governments urgently tackle food insecurity and its root causes head on. Today, 11 people are likely dying every minute from acute hunger. SeeThe Hunger Virus Multiplies: Deadly Recipe of Conflict, Covid-19 and Climate Accelerated World HungerandEvery minute, 11 people die of hunger: Oxfam.

Of course, with the worlds attention focused elsewhere, it is also easy to just let people die, even if some people get a little attention before doing so. SeeNothing left: A catastrophe in Madagascars famine-hit south.

In any case, one would be naive to believe that governments or international organizations now, any more than at any time in the past, are going to urgently tackle food insecurity and its root causes head on. Such words are simply the most straightforward way of pretending concern until the readers attention moves on to the next subject without asking was anything done? Of course not, and it will not be.

In addition, as touched on above, by deliberately crashing national economies it was easy to conceal the fact that they were on the brink of crashing anyway. In the words of Scott C. Tips: As the American and other economies falter from major structural problems, out-of-control debt, reckless spending, and government stupidity in shuttering businesses, the blame for markets crashing and economies tanking is borne by the conveniently available COVID-19 disease. SeeNever Has So Little Done So Much Harm to So Many: The Latest Coronavirus Attack Is A Cover for Restricting Our Health Freedoms.

As the elite coup (the Great Reset) proceeds and key measures to tighten its control and consolidate the transfer of wealth from poor to rich are implemented, populations in industrialized countries will also be confined to the economic margins and starved to death.

Killing off Humanity: Injectables

Parallel with economic measures to kill off a substantial proportion of humanity, the global elite has long used medical measures to achieve a similar outcome.

Dating from the time when the Louis Pasteur model of disease based on germ theory: microorganisms attack the body and must be fought off individually gained ascendancy over the Antoine Bchamp model based on terrain theory: the health of the body and its environment determine health outcomes in the late 19thcentury, the focus of allopathic medicine has been treating disease with synthetic drugs, chemotherapy, radiation, surgical removal of body parts and vaccines. SeeBechamp or Pasteur? A lost chapter in the history of biologyandGerm Theory Versus Terrain: The Wrong Side Won the Day.

However, despite the focus of the dominant medical system on germ theory, it has never been scientifically established that the SARS-CoV-2 virus actually exists. More fundamentally, according to Dr Stefan Lanka: Contrary to what most people believe, there are no pathogenic viruses. All claims about viruses as pathogens are wrong and are based on easily recognisable, understandable and verifiable misinterpretations. A real and complete virus does not exist anywhere in the entire scientific literature. SeeThe Misconception Called Virus: Measles as an example.

To reiterate in the words of two other authors: there is no original scientific evidence that definitively demonstrates that any virus is the cause of any disease. SeeWhat Really Makes You Ill? Why everything you thought you knew about disease is wrong. But you can read more inDismantling the Virus Theory The measles virus as an exampleand watch the video interviewThe Real Science of Germs: Do Viruses Cause Disease?

And so the entire foundation of health practice underwent a profound transformation during the late 19thcentury. The shift from highly effective natural health modalities to pharmaceutical medicine was keenly facilitated by the Rockefeller family whose oil products needed outlets given that the automotive industry was just starting (and was generating only limited demand) and the drugs being promoted were made from oil byproducts. Consequently, the Rockefeller family and its allies made strenuous efforts to obliterate the natural health modalities popular and effective prior to the turn of the 20thcentury and invested hundreds of millions of dollars to ensure the emergence of pharmaceutical medicine based on the petrochemicals its oil industry made possible. SeeRockefeller Foundation Moments in Time: 1921-1929andHow Big Oil Conquered The World.

As a result, chronic ill-health and deaths from medical treatments skyrocketed during the next century as has been extensively documented. See, for example,Medical Nemesis: The Expropriation of HealthandDeath by Medicine.

In brief, and notwithstanding the many fine doctors who have done what they could to genuinely restore health, this model has meant that large segments of the human population have been condemned to one or more of the medically-induced forms of chronic ill-health while many others have been the victims of iatrogenic (medical error) deaths, the leading cause of death in many countries, including the United States: the American medical system is the leading cause of death and injury in the US. SeeDeath by Medicine. Of course, the second and third leading causes of death cancer and heart disease could also be attributed to a medical system that promotes a grossly unhealthy diet of poisoned (by synthetic herbicides and pesticides), processed and unhealthily prepared foods (as well as fluoridated water) while suppressing awareness of a nutritionally/environmentally sound and ethical diet (biodynamically/organically grown, whole and preferably vegan/vegetarian food) as well as effective treatments, such asGerson Therapyfor cancer.

But a vital component of the injuries and deaths inflicted medically occur by vaccination, for which there is zero science of any benefit. As Dr Stefan Lanka has explained about vaccines generally:

Only ignorant people who blindly trust in the state authorities who are testing and approving the vaccines can regard vaccination as a small harmless prick. The verifiable facts demonstrate the danger and negligence of these scientists and politicians, who claim that vaccines are safe, have little or no side-effects and would protect from a disease. None of these claims is true and scientific; on the contrary, upon precise scientific analysis, one finds that vaccines are useless and the respective literature admits to the lack of any evidence in their favour.SeeThe Misconception Called Virus: Measles as an example.

Far from being useless, however, vaccines have an exceptional record of achievement in two realms. They are extraordinarily profitable with even multi-billion dollar fines imposed on pharmaceutical corporations absorbed as a cost of doing business: seeBig Pharma Conglomerate with a Criminal Record: Pfizer Takes Over the EU Vaccine Market. 1.8 Billion Doses and they injure and kill with ruthless efficiency. And for those paying attention this has been well known for a long time with a great many scientists documenting the myriad problems with vaccines for just one example, seeNew Quality-Control Investigations on Vaccines: Micro- and Nanocontamination and others documenting the extensive injuries and deaths. See Sayer Jis 326 page bibliography with a vast number of references to the literature explaining the exceptional range of shocking dangers from vaccination:Vaccination.

In fact, based on his own experience of promoting vaccines among unaware populations in Africa and Asia and given his well-known sympathies for eugenics, Bill Gates has candidly stated that if we are doing a real good job vaccinating, we may reduce the world population by 10% to 15%. SeeInnovating to Zero! Moreover, he might have added, if we use a gene-altering injectable we can do it far more efficiently.

So how effective at killing are these injectables? Here is just a sample of what some prominent doctors and scientists have described, usually as part of a warning:

In this video, Professor Dolores Cahill, Dr. Judy Mikovits & Dr. Sherri Tenpenny explainThe Truth about the Covid-19 Vaccine.

According to Professor Cahill, great harm will result from these mRNA vaccines in the years to come: I have been saying all along [that] anyone whos over 70 who gets one of these mRNA vaccines will probably sadly die within about two to three years. And anyone who gets the mRNA injection, no matter what their age, can be expected to die within five to ten years.

According to Dr Judy Mikovits, Fifty million people will die in America from the vaccine. Dr Tenpenny agrees, subject to the proviso that if they dont die, they are going to be seriously injured.

In his videoA Final Warning to Humanity, Dr. Mike Yeadon asks Why is the pharmaceutical industry making top up vaccines? You should be terrified at this point, as I am, because there is absolutelyno possible justificationfor their manufacture. I am very frightened of that. There is no possible benign interpretation of this. I believe that they are going to be used to damage your health and possibly kill you. Seriously. I can see no sensible interpretation other than a serious attempt at mass depopulation. This will provide the tools to do it and plausible deniability.

For their part, Doctors for Covid Ethics have recently issued the fourth edition of their own warningJAccuse! The Gene-based Vaccines Are Killing People. Governments Worldwide Are Lying to You the People, to the Populations They Purportedly Serve:

Official sources, namely EudraVigilance (EU, EEA, Switzerland), MHRA (UK) and VAERS (USA), have now recorded many more deaths and injuries from the COVID-!9 vaccine roll-out than from all previous vaccines combined since records began. TOTAL for EU/UK/USA 40,666 Covid-19 injection related deaths and 6,626,502 injuries reported as at 15 September 2021.

It is important to be aware that the official figures above (reported to the health authorities) are but a small percentage (1 to 10%) of the actual figures. This catastrophic number of injection related deaths has NOT been reported by the mainstream media, despite the official figures above being publicly available.

The signal of harm is now indisputably overwhelming, and, in line with universally accepted ethical standards for clinical trials, Doctors for Covid Ethics demands that the COVID-19 vaccination programme be halted immediately worldwide.

Continuation of the programme, in the full knowledge of ongoing serious harm and death to both adults and children, constitutes Crimes Against Humanity/Genocide.

Governments worldwide are lying to you the people, to the populations they purportedly serve.

And in this video, Dr Sucharit Bhakdi carefully explains whythe Covid-19 injection is precipitating a global catastrophe that will decimate the human population. SeeCOVID Shots to Decimate World Population, Warns Dr. Bhakdi.

Having cited these examples, however, it should be pointed out that they constitute a tiny fraction of the rather endless sequence of highly qualified doctors, scientists, geopolitical analysts and others who have perceived the nature of what has been planned and is now being implemented, and been warning humanity of its fate unless vigorous resistance is offered. For just two of these other warnings, consider the following.

In this evocative open letter from twelve holocaust survivors of World War II, they warn:

We, the survivors of the atrocities committed against humanity during the Second WorldWar, feel bound to follow our conscience and write this letter.

It is obvious to us that another holocaust of greater magnitude is taking place before our eyes. The majority of the worlds populace do not yet realize what is happening, for magnitude of an organized crime such as this is beyond their scope of experience.

We, however, know. We remember the name Josef Mengele. Some of us have personalmemories. We experience a dj vu that is so horrifying that we rise to shield our poor fellow humans. The threatened innocents now include children, and even infants. In just four months, the COVID-19 vaccines have killed more people than all available vaccines combined from mid-1997 until the end of 2013a period of 15.5 years. And people affected worst are between 18 and 64 years old the group which was not in the Covid statistics.

We call upon you to stop this ungodly medical experiment on humankind immediately. What you call vaccination against SARS-Cov-2 is in truth a blasphemic encroachment into nature. Never before has immunization of the entire planet been accomplished by delivering a synthetic mRNA into the human body. It is a medical experiment to which the Nuremberg Code must be applied. The 10 ethical principles in this document represents a foundational code of medical ethics that was formulated during the Nuremberg Doctors Trial to ensure that human beings will never again be subjected to involuntary medical experimentation & procedures.SeeStop the Covid Holocaust! Open Letter. We call upon you to stop this ungodly medical experiment on humankind immediately.

In a recent article, Professor Michel Chossudovsky noted:

The vaccine is being applied and imposed Worldwide. The target population is 7.9 billion. Several doses are contemplated. It is the largest vaccination program in World history.

Never before has immunization of the entire planet been accomplished by delivering a synthetic mRNA into the human body...

The mRNA vaccine is not a project of a UN intergovernmental body (WHO) on behalf (of) the member states of the UN: This is a private initiative. The billionaire elites which fund and enforce the Vaccine Project Worldwide are Eugenists committed to Depopulation.SeeThe COVID-19 Vaccine and the Nuremberg Code. Crimes Against Humanity, Genocide.

Beyond these warnings, however, if we consider theofficialinjury and death figures from the injectables cited above, we know that millions have been injured and many tens of thousands killed (in the European Union, the UK and the USA only) by the death needle already.

Of course, the problem with official figures is that they always profoundly understate the deaths and injuries as an extensive CDC-funded Harvard research study explained a decade ago. In reality, for a variety of clearly identified reasons, fewer than 1% of vaccine adverse events are reported. SeeElectronic Support for Public Health Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System.

And a recent research study by Dr Jessica Rose highlights this problem in relation to the current gene-altering injectables. Her research demonstrated that more than ten times the official figure over 150,000 people have died due to the injectables in the USA so far. SeeBREAKING Over 150,000 people including 600 children have died due to the Covid-19 Vaccines in the USAand watch a video interview of Dr Rose here:VAERS: What do the Data Tell us?

But remember the warnings from Professor Cahill, Dr. Mikovits, Dr. Yeadon, Dr. Bhakdi and others. The timeframe on deaths is over the next few years so, in short, despite the horrifying reality already, the tragedy has only just begun.

Of course, the truth about the vaccine death and injury toll is being heavily suppressed by international organizations (including the United Nations and World Health Organization), governments and the medical, pharmaceutical and media industries because this knowledge would only undermine support for the elite-driven eugenics program.

Hence, the tragedy will continue to accelerate with resistance confined to that which can be mobilized outside mainstream channels.

Killing off Humanity: Other means

While I will not elaborate them in this article, as mentioned above, it should be acknowledged that the elite is using other means to kill off a large proportion of humanity, with the deployment of 5G and geoengineering just two more examples. For discussions of these issues, seeDeadly Rainbow: Will 5G Precipitate the Extinction of All Life on Earth?andExtinction is Stalking Humanity: The Threats to Human Survival Accumulate.

So How Can We Resist?

Fortunately, there is considerable resistance already. However, we need to expand this and also get it onto a more strategic footing so that it functionally undermines the power of the Global Elite to conduct this coup. And dont assume that the Global Elite will back off. It is criminally insane. SeeThe Global Elite is Insane Revisited.

So, as I have explained before, our defense strategy must thwart those key measures of their coup that would give them the control they want. This will not be easy because we must mobilize millions to act strategically. Random acts of resistance, such as the mass mobilizations without strategic focus that have been conducted so far, can have no impact.

For an integrated strategy to defeat the elite coup, see theWe Are Human, We Are Freecampaign, which has 29 strategic goals for defeating the coup including meaningful engagement with police and military forces to assist them to understand and resist, rather than support, the elite agenda.

But for a simpler presentation, see theWe Are Human, We Are Free 7 Days Campaign to Resist The Great Reset. The Telegram group ishere.

One-page flyers in several languages, outlining essential nonviolent actions that we must undertake, are published with this article.

Conclusion

Given the enormous sophistication and complexity of the elite agenda being implemented under cover of the so-called SARS-CoV-2 virus, our resistance must match the sophistication of the coup if it is to succeed. And, in this case, it will require far more action in the home than on the street. This is because street protests do not constitute resistance in themselves and can only be used as a means of mobilizing strategic resistance, most of which will need to occur as a result of people modifying certain elements of their daily behaviours as they go about their usual routines.

If we cannot mobilize sufficient noncooperation with particular elite agents and specific measures being taken by the elite through these agents, then the Global Elite will succeed in killing off a substantial proportion of the human population and enslaving the balance.

So our choice is simple. Resist, strategically, as outlined above or watch Earth being depopulated to a planet of cyborg slaves.
