‘Wet Hot American Summer’ cast 20 years later: Where are they now? – Wonderwall

By Wonderwall.com Editors 5:32am PDT, Jul 27, 2021

On July 27, 2001, "Wet Hot American Summer" hit theaters and introduced a very small audience to the last day at Camp Firewood in 1981. The film was initially a flop and was critically roasted, but when it hit home video, it garnered a cult following especially after the once-little-known actors in the movie became big deals. In honor of the flick's 20th anniversary, Wonderwall.com is looking back at the cast of camp counselors and staff to find out what they've been up to over the last two decades

"Saturday Night Live" alum Molly Shannon continued to exercise her comedic chops after "Wet Hot American Summer" on shows like "Divorce" but has also worn a few other hats. She's done Broadway, acted in dramatic pieces and even wrote a children's book. Molly's brought Gail back to life on Netflix's "Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp" prequel series and "Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later" sequel series. She's been married to artist Fritz Chesnut since 2004. They have two teenage children, Stella and Nolan.

Paul Rudd played Andy, a camp counselor who's dating another counselor (Katie) but isn't interested in being faithful to her.

Paul Rudd also continued in comedy throughout the 2000s and 2010s with roles in movies like "The 40-Year-Old Virgin," "This is 40" and "Knocked Up." In 2015, he became an action star when he made his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut as Ant-Man, a role he's continued to play. Despite his busy schedule, he made time to appear in both of Netflix's later "Wet Hot American Summer" projects. He's been married to former publicist Julie Yaeger since 2003. They have two children.

Bradley Cooper (left) played Ben, a camp counselor charged with producing and choreographing the camp talent show. He's seen here with Michael Ian Black (right), who played McKinley Dozen, a fellow counselor he's dating, and Janeane Garofalo, who played the camp's director, Beth.

Bradley Cooper had a breakthrough role in 2009's "The Hangover." Since then, his star has skyrocketed and he's moved from comedy to Oscar-nominated dramatic performances in films like "Silver Linings Playbook," "American Sniper" and "A Star is Born" (which he also wrote, directed and produced!). He reprised his role as Ben on the prequel series "Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp," which premiered on Netflix in 2015. After years of romancing Hollywood beauties including Jennifer Esposito (to whom he was briefly married), Renee Zellweger and Suki Waterhouse, Bradley welcomed daughter Lea de Seine with model Irina Shayk in 2017. They couple split in 2019.

Michael Ian Black has maintained a steady acting career in the years since playing the closeted counselor. He's appeared on shows like "The Jim Gaffigan Show" and "Another Period" as well as the "Wet Hot American Summer" sequel and prequel series. He's also a prolific author who's penned four books for adults and eight for children.

Elizabeth Banks is another powerhouse alum from the cult classic, which only brought in $295,206 at the box office when it debuted. Among her most notable projects since "Wet Hot American Summer"? The "Hunger Games" franchise and the "Pitch Perfect" films (she directed the second one). She also reprised her role as Lindsay in Netflix's other "Wet Hot" projects. Elizabeth married college sweetheart Max Handelman in 2003 and they now have two sons.

Amy Poehler's character, Susie, planned the talent show with Ben.

Amy Poehler does it all. In the past 20 years, Amy has stolen endless scenes on "Saturday Night Live," where she was a cast member from 2001 to 2008; became the most quoted movie mom thanks to her work in "Mean Girls"; starred on "Parks and Recreation"; conquered award show hosting along with pal Tina Fey; and wrote the memoir "Yes Please." She's had plenty of overlap with her old "Wet Hot Summer" castmates, including in projects like "They Came Together" with co-star Paul Rudd. Amy shares two sons with actor Will Arnett, to whom she was married from 2003 to 2012.

Gene, a Vietnam war vet and the camp chef, was played by Christopher Meloni.

While Christopher Meloni has done a wide range of acting projects since "Wet Hot American Summer" and returned for both the prequel and sequel series, nothing has been as impactful or beloved as his work as Detective Elliot Stabler on "Law and Order: SVU" and its new spinoff, "Law & Order: Organized Crime." Christopher has two children with wife Doris Sherman, whom he wed in 1995.

Marguerite Moreau (seen here with Paul Rudd, who played her on-screen boyfriend) brought counselor Katie to life.

After the original movie debuted, Marguerite Moreau stayed busy, appearing on shows like "The O.C." and "Parenthood" and in movies like "Queen of the Damned." Over the last decade, her roles have been more limited, with a few television movies and the "Wet Hot" Netflix series emerging as her biggest projects. She took on a new role in 2015 when she became a mom.

Janeane Garofalo played the camp's director, Beth, who falls in love with astrophysics professor Henry Newman, who lives by the camp. He was played by David Hyde Pierce.

When Janeane Garofalo appeared in "Wet Hot American Summer," she was already a busy stand-up comic and actress. The funnywoman, who's also a political activist, has since appeared on "Girlfriend's Guide to Divorce" and "Younger," done voice acting in movies like "Paw Patrol: The Movie" and played Beth again in the Netflix spinoffs.

David Hyde Pierce has done just about everything an actor can do in Hollywood. He's been on sitcoms ("Frasier") and dramas ("The Good Wife") and done Broadway (he won a Tony in 2007). He's done some voice acting ("The Simpsons" is among his more notable credits) and directed theater productions. In 2007, he came out as a gay man and shortly after married his longtime partner, Brian Hargrove.

Michael Showalter played Coop (aka Gerald Cooperberg), a counselor at Camp Firewood who's in love with Katie (played by Marguerite Moreau, seen here).

Michael Showalter created "Wet Hot American Summer" along with David Wain then co-wrote and starred on the prequel and sequel series for Netflix. Beyond those, he's partnered with pals from the franchise like Michael Ian Black on a podcast and a Comedy Central show and with David wrote "They Came Together," a 2014 romantic comedy that starred Amy Poehler, Paul Rudd, Christopher Meloni, Zak Orth, Ken Marino and Michael Ian Black. Outside of Hollywood, Michael teaches screenwriting at NYU's graduate film school and is a dad to twins.

Joe Lo Truglio played camp nerd Neil.

Joe Lo Truglio is a seasoned actor and voice actor who's starred on "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" and appeared in films like "Superbad," "I Love You, Man" and the first two "Pitch Perfect" movies. He married Beth Dover, who appeared on "Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later," in 2014. They have a son together.

Judah Friedlander played Gail's husband, Ron von Kleinenstein.

Judah Friedlander's biggest role since 2001 was on "30 Rock," where he crossed paths with old "Wet Hot" co-stars like Amy Poehler and Elizabeth Banks, who both guest starred on the NBC comedy. Off camera, he's done voice work for "Bordertown," "Albert" and "Bob's Burgers." Judah also appeared on the movie's prequel series, "Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp," in 2015.

Ken Marino played braggart Victor Pulak.

Ken Marino's cult classic appearances didn't end with "Wet Hot American Summer." The funnyman has also starred on "Party Down" and "Childrens Hospital." He teamed up with "Wet Hot" film alums for "They Came Together" in 2014 and was also on the Netflix sequel and prequel series.

A.D. Miles (right), seen here with Michael Showalter and Christopher Meloni, played chef Gary.

A.D. Miles' biggest job since "Wet Hot American Summer" has been behind the camera serving as head writer for "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" between 2014 and 2017. When he's on camera, he prefers to team up with David Wain, who co-produced the "Wet Hot" sequel and prequel series as well as "The Ten," "Role Models," "Childrens Hospital" and "Wainy Days." He has two daughters.

Kevin Sussman played eccentric Steve, who appeared to be able to control the weather.

Kevin Sussman found success on television following his small role in "Wet Hot American Summer" with larger roles on "Ugly Betty" and "The Big Bang Theory."

Marisa Ryan played camp temptress Abby Bernstein.

Marisa Ryan's most major projects since "Wet Hot American Summer" came with the prequel and sequel series on Netflix. She's also had smaller parts since on shows like "Odd Mom Out" and "Law & Order."

Zak Orth played camp counselor J.J.

Over the past 20 years, Zak Orth has stayed in front of the camera with roles on "Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist," "Human Kind Of" and "Veep." He's continued to stay in touch with "Wet Hot" pals Michael Ian Black and Michael Showalter (his neighbor!), briefly working with them on their show "Michael and Michael Have Issues."

H. Jon Benjamin voiced the Can of Mixed Vegetables.

The Can of Mixed Vegetables voice can be heard just about everywhere (and not just in the prequel and sequel series)! H. Jon Benjamin is a prolific voice actor who's lent his talents to characters on "Archer," "Bob's Burgers," "Central Park" and "Family Guy."

How To Find The Best Bitcoin Roulette Games Online – bravewords.com

Posted: at 1:28 pm

Bitcoin roulette games are very much a possibility at the internets leading online casinos. However, not all Bitcoin roulette titles are alike. It is, therefore, ideal to find casinos that offer you a top selection and an array of options. How can you go about doing this? Follow this guide, and we will point you in the right direction.

Find a Casino That Accepts Bitcoin

The first step to finding quality Bitcoin roulette games is to locate a site that supports the cryptocurrency in the first place. Many top crypto betting sites will accept Bitcoin, but do they offer you the chance to wager on Bitcoin roulette with BTC stakes? Surprisingly, not all of them do so. For this reason, it is worth browsing around and only playing at Bitcoin casinos that do.

What Do You Want to Play?

There is all manner of Bitcoin roulette games out there. It helps if you know which types of roulette games you fancy playing. Do you like the high-octane action and ultimate realism of live dealer roulette, or do you prefer to take your time with a varying array of RNG (random number generator) roulette games? Once you know what you want to play, you will be in a better position to start looking for those types of games at potential Bitcoin roulette casino sites.

Who Provides the Software?

Do you know who provides the Bitcoin roulette games that you want to play? If so, it does not take much effort to look up the software providers delivering games to your chosen Bitcoin roulette casino. However, if you are not aware of them, then it is worth looking up the developers who create these games to give you a better idea of what is available.

Explore the Available Bitcoin Roulette Games

If you know the types of Bitcoin roulette games you want to play and the software providers who offer them, the next logical step is to see if your chosen casino offers them. After visiting a casino, head over to the table games or live dealer/casino sections. There may also be dedicated Bitcoin roulette games sections at the site in question. Any of these should showcase the exact games that your chosen cryptocurrency casino has to offer.

Only Play at the Safest Bitcoin Roulette Sites

Only playing at Bitcoin casinos that are totally secure, safe, and licensed should go without saying. Yet, you would be surprised how many players skip this step. There is no point playing roulette games if you cannot trust that they are fair. Ensure that your chosen casino is licensed and regulated, or in the case of many Bitcoin casinos, Provably Fair. You should never compromise on security, not if you want to play the safest and fairest Bitcoin roulette games that the online casino world has to offer.

After their ninja warrior gym was a success, small business owners open The School Yahd in West Boylston with – MassLive.com

Posted: at 1:28 pm

A banner hanging on a yellow school bus in a parking lot on Route 12 in West Boylston acts as bait to reel in children of the 90s.

It welcomes passersby to the The School Yahd a monstrous indoor facility on the other side of the parking lot thats home to pickleball courts, a Wiffle Ball field, giant chess pieces and a near 6-foot Connect 4.

The School Yahd logo is written in a 90s graffiti font that sparks memories of the logo for the old school sitcom Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.

The School Yahd in West Boylston, former Recess 2, features a Wiffle Ball field, pickle ball courts and oversized board games.

The nostalgia inside the building continues with oversized game boards of Candyland and Chutes and Ladders. Co-owner Carline Giguere envisions incorporating Miss Frizzle and the Magic School Bus somewhere in the building, possibly as a mural.

Stocked with beers taps and a kitchen specializing in grilled cheese sandwiches, The School Yah will also have snacks ranging from Dunkaroos to Devil Dogs.

Snacks that you had when you were young. Our drink menu that were putting together includes dirty Shirley Temples, because everyone loves a Shirley Temple, Giguere said. Its to bring back that nostalgia era.

The School Yahd in West Boylston, former Recess 2, features a Wiffle Ball field, pickle ball courts and oversized board games.

Its a playbook run by the previous owners of the space when it was called Recess 2, with many of the same games and billed as an adult playground. Recess 2 closed amid the pandemic.

While geared to adults, Giguere and her business partner Eric Matta want the space to educate younger generations on all the pop culture icons of the 90s rather than entirely exclude them.

The two operate Ultimate Obstacles, which is located in the other half of the building on 121 Shrine Ave. in West Boylston. The facility offers ninja-warrior-themed workouts to adults but theyve seen how the courses bring ear-to-ear smiles to children.

They envision similar reactions when children step into The School Yahd.

Families are huge, Giguere said. Its been really positive. They just look around and you cant even see everything we have because it is so big. Theres a wow factor when they walk in is really cool to see.

The owners Ultimate Obstacles in West Boylston are opening a new business next door called The School Yahd. It will feature a Whiffle Ball field, oversized board games and corn hole leagues.

Ultimate Obstacles used the voluminous space of the facility formerly known as Recess 2 as an overflow space during the pandemic to create socially distanced area. The two spaces share a wall that has a large garage door that connects the two rooms.

Giguere and Matta knew interest existed in the oversized game boards and athletic activities from each time they opened the garage door. Members would walk through the environment, almost instantly enchanted at its possibilities.

There were lots of comments and thats when it started, Matta said. It was very casual like Oh it would be kind of cool to run this. And then it became, Oh my gosh, it could actually be a possibility.

Giguere and Mattas landlord approached them in February to gauge their interest in continuing what Recess 2 started when it opened in 2019.

[The landlord] knew what we did to keep it going over at Ultimate Obstacles, Giguere said. He knew whatever happened we were going to make it work. We were going to get him his rent. We were going to get people in. We were going to do what needed to be done. He felt comfortable with us taking over the space because he knows our work ethic.

The owners Ultimate Obstacles in West Boylston are opening a new business next door called The School Yahd. It will feature a Whiffle Ball field, oversized board games and corn hole leagues.

Matta jumped at the opportunity, but Giguere said she needed a bit more convincing before ultimately leaping to open a second business.

The pandemic negatively impacted Ultimate Obstacle as it did nearly every business across the country. The gym closed for about a month and reopened last summer. Matta said membership still hasnt returned to pre-pandemic levels. However, part of the reason Ultimate Obstacles remains open is through the support of its members. About two dozen people continued to pay membership fees even while the gym was closed.

Some of those same faces have not only returned to Ultimate Obstacles but are laying the foundation of support at The School Yahd.

Weve already had so much support from our members, Matta said.

The School Yahd officially opens July 31, although theyve been welcoming guests for about two weeks. Guests have already booked private events at The School Yahd as well.

After opening next week, Giguere and Matta plan to release information on leagues that will include corn hole on Wednesday, Wiffle Ball on Thursdays and possibly pickle ball in the future.

They also have ideas that play off of speed dating and random game night.

For singles, instead of sitting at a table for a minute or two with a stranger before rotating to the next during speed dating, The School Yahd would have singles rotate through games.

Another idea involves guests arriving for a roulette game night where The School Yahd would pair competitions together randomly for couples and groups.

It will be a surprise and get you to try some new games, Giguere said. It evens the playing field for teams that may be really, really good at corn hole, but they suck at ping pong. It makes it a little more exciting.

The School Yahd in West Boylston, former Recess 2, features a Wiffle Ball field, pickle ball courts and oversized board games.

The ideas and confidence for The School Yahd come from decades of experience.

Gigueres grandparents opened Giguere Gymnastics in Cherry Valley in 1973. In 2016, her father and Matta pursued the idea for Ultimate Obstacles.

After graduating college, Giguere joined forces with the duo to help launch the new gym but didnt envision remaining a part of the team long.

Five years later, Giguere remains a central part of the team. After the success of Ultimate Obstacles, she and Matta begin focusing on their latest solo venture.

Its in my blood, Giguere said. Its in my family.

TMS Symphonic Band selected to perform at AMEA Conference – Shelby County Reporter – Shelby County Reporter

Posted: at 1:26 pm

By NATHAN HOWELL | Staff Writer

ALABASTER The Thompson Middle School Symphonic Band was recently selected to perform at the Alabama Music Educators Association Conference (AMEA) in early 2022.

The conference brings together music educators from across the state for several days of clinics and performances.

Each year, bands from high schools throughout Alabama submit recordings to participate in the performances. A blind panel of judges will then pick the best three to four groups to perform.

TMS Director of Bands Michael Chambless said his students prepared and recorded two pieces of music during the spring semester and submitted them to the panel.

We worked for most of this spring semester on the recordings that we ended up submitting, Chambless said. They ask you to submit two pieces of varying repertoire. We ended up recording a march and a blues dance-style piece as our submissions.

Chambless said the bands submission was due to the hard work his students put in throughout the semester and expressed how proud he was.

This is an incredible honor. They put so much time and effort into getting selected for this. Anytime you put in that kind of time and dedication it is incredible, Chambless said. They are really proud of their work, and I am really proud of them. This is a really incredible feeling for everyone involved with the program. This is truly a great testament to the wonderful students that we get to teach, and the incredible support and culture we have at TMS and ACS.

Chambless also noted the support of the school system as a motivator for this kind of success.

We are able to accomplish these things with great leadership and support from our principal, Dr. Woodley, and Superintendent Dr. Vickers, Chambless explained The vision they have for our school system and our band makes this a great environment, and helps our students feel really supported.

Most importantly, this accomplishment is a positive reaffirmation for the students, according to Chambless.

They put in hard work and dedicated all of their time to get a great outcome, Chambless said. Music is meant to make you feel really special and inspired. The most important thing for me is that the kids get to have a special connection with the music and get to have a great time performing it.

The AMEA Conference is currently scheduled to take place June 20-22 in , where the TMS Symphonic band will perform.

Forked Tongue ioerror/Flickr Why have one tongue when you can have two? Traci Joy Burleigh (not shown here) is a 38-year-old professional piercer in San Francisco who says "tongue bifurcation" is typically done in a piercing shop under sterile conditions.

But Dr. Jon Perlman,a prominent Beverly Hills plastic surgeon who has been practicing for 25 years and has turned down requests for procedures he found disturbing, says that the tongue "is a very functional part of the human body affecting speech and eating. I think anyone who wants this should undergo psychological evaluation to explain such a strong drive to stand-out from the norm, and I consider myself a fairly open minded individual."

But doctors say subdermal implants, like the ridges above his eyes, can be risky business. "Hopefully all of this is being done under the most sterile conditions," says Dr. David Bank, director of The Center for Dermatology, Cosmetic, and Laser Surgery in New York. Anytime the skin is opened up, he tells CBS News, there is the potential for infection - and the risk is heightened when a permanent foreign object is introduced.

Of all of these procedures, doctors say the implants pose the greatest risk. Anytime a foreign object is placed in the body, infection is a real possibility.

As he wrote on his blog, "Admittedly it just looks like a growth/deformity and some strange spots, but I just love it".

Ophthalmologists don't love it as much. Last year, the State of Oklahoma made it illegal to color the sclera - the whites of the eyes - with strong support from the Oklahoma Academy of Ophthalmology.

Klaus Schwab: Great Reset Will Lead to a Fusion of Our Physical, Digital and Biological Identity

by Paul Joseph Watson

Globalist Klaus Schwab made it clear that transhumanism is an integral part of The Great Reset when he said that the fourth industrial revolution would lead to a fusion of our physical, digital and biological identity, which in his book he clarifies is implantable microchips that can read your thoughts.

As we highlighted earlier, The Great Reset is attracting a deluge of fresh attention in the aftermath of the coronavirus pandemic, which Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said was an opportunity for a reset.

The agenda is primarily based around dismantling the current capitalist system in favor of greater centralized technocrat rule which will lead to lower living standards, less fuel consumption, fewer civil liberties and the accelerated automation of jobs.

However, another key aspect to The Great Reset, or the fourth industrial revolution as Schwab calls it, is merging man with machine.

What the fourth industrial revolution will lead to is a fusion of our physical, digital and biological identity, Schwab told the Chicago Council on Global Affairs.

Schwab went on to explain how his book, Shaping the Future of The Fourth Industrial Revolution, was particularly popular in China, South Korea and Japan, with the South Korean military alone purchasing 16,000 copies.

In the book, Schwab explains with excitement how upcoming technology will allow authorities to intrude into the hitherto private space of our minds, reading our thoughts and influencing our behavior.

He goes on to predict that this will provide an incentive for law enforcement to implement Minority Report-style pre-crime programs.

As capabilities in this area improve, the temptation for law enforcement agencies and courts to use techniques to determine the likelihood of criminal activity, assess guilt or even possibly retrieve memories directly from peoples brains will increase, writes Schwab.

Even crossing a national border might one day involve a detailed brain scan to assess an individuals security risk.

Schwab also waxes lyrical about the transhumanist utopian dream shared by all elitists which will ultimately lead to the creation of human cyborgs.

Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies will not stop at becoming part of the physical world around usthey will become part of us, writes Schwab.

Indeed, some of us already feel that our smartphones have become an extension of ourselves.

Todays external devices from wearable computers to virtual reality headsets will almost certainly become implantable in our bodies and brains.

Schwab also openly endorses something the media still claims is solely a domain of discussion for conspiracy theorists, namely active implantable microchips that break the skin barrier of our bodies.

The globalist hails the arrival of implanted devices (that) will likely also help to communicate thoughts normally expressed verbally through a built-in smartphone, and potentially unexpressed thoughts or moods by reading brain waves and other signals.

So in other words, the fusion of our physical, digital and biological identity relates to the transhumanist singularity and a future where people have their every movement tracked and every thought read by an implantable microchip.

It isnt a conspiracy theory when theyre openly telling you what they want to do.
