CD Projekt has vowed to stick with its embattled Cyberpunk 2077, despite concern about the state of the game and the studio's ability to turn it around.
Upon release in December, Cyberpunk suffered from a raft of crippling technical issues, particularly on consoles, and failed to live up to the expectations set by its pre-release marketing.

The problems were so bad that Sony pulled Cyberpunk from sale on the PlayStation Store - and Microsoft slapped the game with a performance warning. Refunds were eventually offered for a limited period. CD Projekt also faces class action lawsuits in the United States over Cyberpunk's troubled debut, and potential legal action from investors.
The fallout continues: CD Projekt has already shelved plans to release a standalone multiplayer Cyberpunk experience, instead opting to add multiplayer features to the existing single-player game. DLC and the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X versions of Cyberpunk have been pushed back. And the company is switching to a development plan that involves creating multiple titles at the same time, as opposed to one monolithic game after the other.
Amid CD Projekt's uphill challenge saving Cyberpunk, some have wondered whether the studio would be better off leaving the game behind and moving on to other things. But in a new interview with Reuters, joint chief executive Adam Kicinski insisted CD Projekt is sticking with Cyberpunk 2077.
"I don't see an option to shelve Cyberpunk 2077," he said. "We are convinced that we can bring the game to such a state that we can be proud of it and therefore successfully sell it for years to come."
It's been over 100 days since Cyberpunk was pulled from the PlayStation Store. Perhaps the priority for CD Project is to convince Sony to sell the game once again. The recent 1.2 patch was a step towards this, Kicinski said (check out Digital Foundry's analysis in the video below), and he also insisted CD Projekt has "friendly relations" with Sony.
Whether CD Projekt can ever get Cyberpunk into an acceptable state on base last-gen consoles remains to be seen. Also up in the air is the extent to which CD Projekt can improve what it has with DLC and expansions. The studio's Witcher 3, which is now approaching six years old, continues to sell well. Will Cyberpunk 2077 be selling well six years from now?

CD Projekt boss commits to making Cyberpunk 2077 a game to ‘be proud of’ – PC Gamer

Cyberpunk 2077 was a disappointing mess at launch, and despite updates of various sizes since then, it remains one. Andy Kelly went so far as to opine last week that CD Projekt should fix it and then ditch it, because regardless of the bugs, it will remain (in his words) "wildly disappointing" relative to our initial expectations, especially coming from the studio that gave us The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
I began to wonder if CD Projekt's plan was in fact to quietly extricate itself from the whole thing a couple of weeks ago, when the studio announced a change in plans for Cyberpunk 2077's multiplayer. That's apparently not the situation, however, as joint CEO Adam Kiciski told Reuters that the studio remains committed to Cyberpunk for the long term.
"I dont see an option to shelve Cyberpunk 2077," Kiciski said. "We are convinced that we can bring the game to such a state that we can be proud of it and therefore successfully sell it for years to come."
That might sound like wishful thinking given that, for instance, four months after its removal, Cyberpunk 2077 still hasn't returned to the PlayStation Store. (Kiciski said CD Projekt has "friendly relations" with Sony.) It's not entirely beyond the realm of possibility, though. CD Projekt said in an April 2020 report that 2019 was The Witcher 3s second-biggest sales year, surpassed only by 2015, the year of its release.
That delayed sales boost was no doubt driven by the launch of the game on the Nintendo Switch and the not-entirely-expected success of the Netflix series, but it demonstrates both the value of long-term commitment and CD Projekts willingness to hang inalthough whether it can maintain that tenacious grip for a clunker like Cyberpunk as well as it did for a massive hit like The Witcher 3 is something that only time will tell.
Despite all its troubles, Cyberpunk 2077 is a huge sales success, selling more than 13 million copies on the strength of pre-release hype alone, so there is definitely motivation there to keep at it. If CD Projekt can also turn it into a game that at least approaches its initial promise, that'll be a real accomplishment.

CD Projekt RED has reiterated that it is fully committed to fixing, improving, and growing its ambitious RPG Cyberpunk 2077 over the coming years, adamantly stating that the idea of shelving the troubled title and moving on is not even on the table.
"I don't see an option to shelve Cyberpunk 2077," CDPR executive Adam Kicinski said in a recent dialogue with Reuters. "We are convinced that we can bring the game to such a state that we can be proud of it and therefore successfully sell it for years to come."
After years of hype and development, Cyberpunk 2077 finally launched in disastrous fashion in December 2020. In increasingly volatile launch weeks, the PS4 and Xbox One editions of the futuristic adventure were plagued with technical issues - slaughtering the title's reputation, birthing an array of mocking memes, and raising the ire of players, shareholders, and publishers alike. Cyberpunk 2077 would see itself be pulled from various digital stores, as platform holders such as PlayStation refused to be part of the incendiary backlash toward the release.
With PS5 and Xbox Series X editions currently in the works, years worth of plans for DLC and expansions, and millions of dollars of development investment, CDPR has no choice but to regain full control of this situation - repairing Cyberpunk 2077, polishing the next-gen ports, and hoping that a pseudo-relaunch will go some way toward fixing the reputation of both the brand and its developer.
It's completely doable - there have been numerous major releases that finally found their feet after a poor launch. For CDPR, a studio with a near-pristine reputation for developing excellent titles, Cyberpunk 2077 was expected to be its magnum opus - a release that truly launched a new generation of gaming. There's no denying that moment has long passed. But it doesn't mean that CDPR can't ensure that future iterations of Cyberpunk 2077 do deliver on audience expectations of its audience, which might go some way to salvaging the franchise lest it becomes completely lost in time... Like tears in rain.

The head of Cyberpunk 2077 studio CD Projekt Red is optimistic that the studio will be able to improve the game over time to help it continue to sell well for "years to come." Studio head Adam Kicinski told Reuters that abandoning Cyberpunk 2077 is not an option.
"I don't see an option to shelve Cyberpunk 2077," he said. "We are convinced that we can bring the game to such a state that we can be proud of it and therefore successfully sell it for years to come."
Cyberpunk 2077 released in December and received swift criticism in particular for its PS4/Xbox One versions that had many bugs, oddities, and other issues. The problems were so pronounced that the game was removed from sale on PlayStation Network--and it's still absent.
The problems with Cyberpunk 2077 sparked bigger changes at CD Projekt Red. Going forward, the company has promised to showcase its future games on all platforms, instead of higher-end ones specifically. Additionally, CD Projekt Red says it will stay quiet for much longer on its new games, instead opting to show them off when they are closer to release.
Despite the issues with Cyberpunk 2077 at launch, the game sold 13 million copies right out of the gate to become one of the most successful RPG launches of all time. CD Projekt Red has released a handful of major updates so far to address the game's issues, the latest of which, 1.2, contained more than 500 fixes.
While the full picture isn't clear at the moment, commentary from CDPR management has suggested that the planned standalone Cyberpunk 2077 multiplayer game may no longer happen. Right now, CDPR is focused on fixing Cyberpunk 2077's issues, and after that, the company plans to release the first of the game's planned expansions.

CDPR should fix Cyberpunk 2077’s bugs then move on – PC Gamer

The patch notes for the latest Cyberpunk 2077 update are comically long, featuring hundreds of tweaks, bug fixes, and minor improvements. But as Chris reported last week, the game is still a bit of a mess. CDPR is no doubt working hard on more patches, which it needs toto fix both the game and its damaged reputation. But even if it manages to squash every bug and smooth every rough edge, CP2077 is still, deep down, an underwhelming game by a studio I think is capable of so much more.
I've written at length about my issues with Cyberpunk 2077's flimsy world-building. Night City makes a stunning first impression, but it doesn't take long to realise just how superficial it all is. As a shooter, it's deeply average. As an RPG, it doesn't have a fraction of the depth or reactivity hinted at by those early gameplay trailers. It isn't a bad gamejust a wildly disappointing one. And these are problems mere patches will never fix.
In the years following the launch of The Witcher 3, CDPR released two large expansions: Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine. Both are incredible, boasting some of the Warsaw studio's best storytelling, quest design, and world-building to date. Blood and Wine is so big, and of such high quality, that it could easily be a standalone game. These expansions are a lesson in how to do DLC right, and CDPR was rightly celebrated for it.
So it was safe to assume the developer would try something similar with Cyberpunk 2077. At least, it was, before that disastrous launch and the ensuing controversy. While there are definitely more stories to be told in Night City, I think the best thing for CDPR to do at this point is just move on. I'm uneasy with the idea of the studio spending the next couple of years building on this shaky foundation, when it could take the hard lessons it learned constructing it to create something newand better.
CDPR could dedicate all its time and resources to making Cyberpunk 2077 the game it has the potential to be. The game that was promised. It worked for Hello Games and No Man's Skywhich, after years of free updates, is in dramatically better shape than when it launched. But is it worth it? No Man's Sky, even when it barely functioned at release, was bubbling with exciting, untapped potential. But I don't think there's much room for CP2077 to growat least not without a complete and fundamental rewire. Energy that's better spent, I think, on creating a new experience.
As for what that could be, I'd be lying if I said I didn't want CDPR to make another Witcher game. With the popularity of the TV series on Netflix, it's the perfect time for another journey to Andrzej Sapkowski's grim fantasy world. One starring Ciri, perhaps? Blood and Wine was such a perfect end to Geralt's story, it seems unfair to drag him out of retirement for another adventure. But equally, I would like to spend time in a Night City that lives up to the potential Cyberpunk 2077 had. CDPR clearly loves the settingalthough, admittedly, that passion may have waned for many of the staff now.
It's easy for me to sit here and speculate wildly about what a developer should do, like I could single-handedly fix all of its problems with an 800-word opinion piece. But really, it comes from a place of love. After dropping the ball with Cyberpunk 2077, I genuinely want CDPR to reach the heights of The Witcher 3 again. Hundreds of talented people work at this studio, and I'm sure it has another great game left in it. However, what form that will take, whether it's a dramatically reworked CP2077 or a new project entirely, remains to be seen. Personally, I'm praying for the latter.

Cyberpunk 2077 needs a lot of more updates and patches to heal and which developer CD Projekt Red remains committed to for the long run.
Speaking with Reuters (via GamesIndustry) in a recent interview, CEO Adam Kiciski stated that CD Projekt Red will continue to focus on the going development of Cyberpunk 2077; a goal which stems from redemption and sales.
I dont see an option to shelve Cyberpunk 2077, said Kiciski. We are convinced that we can bring the game to such a state that we can be proud of it and therefore successfully sell it for years to come.
That being said, addressing every issue with Cyberpunk 2077 will not be easy. CD Projekt Red will spend the remainder of the year to pump as many patches and updates as possible to stabilize the base experience. The developer has already scrapped plans for a multiplayer mode to free up resources for this purpose, which was previously slated to arrive at least a year after the base release. Suffice to say, the current state of the game forced CD Projekt Red to consider otherwise.
Last week, senior vice president of business development Michal Nowakowski stated that Cyberpunk 2077 will soon return to the PlayStation Store. The game was removed by Sony Interactive Entertainment shortly after its release due to its half-baked form. CD Projekt Red believes that recent improvements might end the delisting but the final call still stands with Sony.
For what it is worth, Cyberpunk 2077 is actually not that bad. The mountain of negativity surrounding the game though, and for good reason, has however done enough damage. Based on a recently given roadmap for 2021, the developer will be releasing multiple expansion packs for free to give players new content.
That will be alongside more patches and updates, as well as the release of the anticipated next-generation update before the year concludes. Cyberpunk 2077, even with its faults, looks absolutely stunning. Those next-generation visual enhancements will definitely add new experiences to Night City.

CD Projekt RED (CDPR) has released a new hotfix for Cyberpunk 2077. The Polish gaming company released version 1.2 update last month and the new hotfix builds upon the initial update. Here is the full changelog for the update:

Apart from Quest and Open World fixes, CDPR has also released some visual, UI and gameplay fixes. These include fixes for issues related to NPC clothing, NCPD officers spawning behind the player and more. Here is the changelog for the same:

The latest EP from Jaguar Jonze is a deep-dive into the songwriters psyche, exploring topics intimately woven into her DNAfrom her singular identity to her culture and heritage. At once a personal project, ANTIHEROs world-building, electronic-infused sound also sets the release up for some cinematic visuals, which Jonze delivers with homages to cyberpunk anime staples like Ghost in the Shell and Akira.
The latest single from the project arrives today with a colorful video favoring such visual reference points over the gun-slinging Westerns evoked by the tracks twanging electric guitar. The appropriately forward-looking lyrics complement the futuristic look of the clip, with Jonze condemning the past on the tracks chorus. Its [about] knowing that we cant erase the past, she shares, but we continue to try for the other person, to ask them to put their defenses down and work together on one side.

The Next Step in RJ Barrett’s Ascension – The Knicks Wall

RJ Barrett continues to develop as a two-way threat on the perimeter. His recent stretch of success suggests he could become an All-Star. The next phase in his game is an improved floor game and unassisted threes.
Its fair to say that the conversation has begun to change around New York Knicks forward R.J. Barrett over the last three weeks. The second-year swingman has seen a jump in his efficiency, modest evolution as a playmaker, and his defense, his most underrated skill, become respected. It seems as if the remodeled roster and the upgrade from David Fizdale to Tom Thibodeau have helped speed up his overall trajectory.
Since coming off the All-Star break, Barrett has averaged 19.2 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 3.2 assists. The True Shooting percentage of 56.2% is buoyed by improved free-throw shooting (74.4%) and three-point percentage (42.3%). If Barrett is supposed to take the leap and move from the good, young wing to All-Star, these stretches need to happen. The fourth quarter and overtime stretch against Memphis15 of his 20 points with several clutch momentsneed to occur more often.
His scoring at all three levels has vastly improved, the conversation has shifted to the next steps. What are the next steps to make Barrett an All-Star-level player?
The one thing, however, in Barretts game that Im curious about is his shooting. Sustainable? As Barrett has been at or above 34% from the outside in each of the previous three months, I would like to think so. How he gets them, however, is interesting. This season, Barrett has shot 76-of-201 from outside, with 75 of them being assisted, via Basketball-Reference. Thats 98.7% of his threes coming off the hands of a teammate.
Expanding his floor game is crucial for Barrett to evolve and take his game to the next level, as it appears to be the only thing stopping Barrett from not only becoming a great player but a player the Knicks could consider leaning on offensively and building around.
The majority of Barretts threes come from the catch-and-shoot. More often than not, Barrett is the recipient of a kick-out pass to the corner after Julius Randle or Derrick Rose drive and absorb the defense. Randle superficially has been huge in finding the former Duke guard on the outside, using his ball-handling to extend the play further, use gravity, and pull a defender in before kicking it to Barrett. As a result, Barrett going from 33.8% on catch-and-shoot threes as a rookie to 38.1% as a sophomore has been instrumental in New Yorks success this season, providing a bit more stretch in New Yorks starting lineup.
But when it comes to his floor game, Barretts ability to create for himself lags behind a bit. Hes comfortable attacking the basketmeticulously drifting through the lane before exploding to the rim. Hes also solid when creating in the middle of the floor, capable of getting off the screen settling for a solid jumper. However, the next proper phase here is getting him the ball a bit further back and allowing him to assume some of those Randle possessions, allowing him to create from the top of the key.
Two players in a similar situation are Raptors forward OG Anunoby and Celtics swingman Jaylen Brown. Anunoby, fresh off of signing a four-year, $72 million extension with Toronto, is in the midst of taking his game to the next level as Toronto moves into its post-Lowry era. Still a bit reliant on creation to get him threes, Anunoby has taken baby steps in creating his own offense.
For all the comparisons between Barrett and Heat forward Jimmy Butler, Im starting to believe that Brown might be a more apt comparison. Coming out of the University of California, Brown was largely viewed as an athlete with shooting concerns. However, Brown had a much better feel as a shooter and creator, which made him the third overall pick and assisted in his development in each of the last four seasons. Now Brown, at 24, gives Boston a one-two All-Star punch with Jayson Tatum.
The idea of what does it look like? is a bit silly because all players and situations are different. However, as Barrett continues to feel a bit more confident with putting the ball on the deck, Brown is a good analog for what he may provide when he figures it all out. Brown is a versatile, do-it-all wing player who can punish you by attacking the rim while also offering a true outside threat if you leave him too much space.
In short: Barrett needs more operating out of the pick-and-roll, absorbing some isolation possessions from Randle and more pull-up and spot-up threes. So, how do we get there?
The idea behind Point Barrett is one. Last season, the Knicks had a brief spell where Barrett ran the show, and he looked good. As New York continues to figure out and shuffle through the point guard position, giving the ball to Barrett might not be the worse idea in the world. Like Butler, Barrett getting those lead dog possessions offers him a chance to expand his shooting further and create a pallet. Barretts 14.5% assist rate is a bit too low for someone with Barretts creative ability.
And I would be remiss if I didnt mention the one crux in Thibodeaus coaching performance this seasonusing Barrett with non-Randle minutes. Even with a bit more minutes of Barrett and the Bench against Brooklyn, the two have been largely tethered together in Thibodeaus lineups. Placing Barrett among a true rim-running big man like Obi Toppin and two catch-and-shoot perimeter players like Immanuel Quickley and Reggie Bullock could open the floor and make things a bit easier in giving Barrett lead reps.
When it comes to second-year forward R.J. Barrett, he might be underrated at the moment. His defense is solid, and key to a New York team ranked in the top 10 defensively for the entire season. While slated to play a secondary role alongside Randles creation, his passing has remained positive and the shot profile, scoring from the outside, the free throw line, and the rim, have all vastly improved. This 17-game stretch has suggested that Barrett is heading into year three of his NBA career with All-Star aspirations.
To do that, however, the next step in his game that needs to be ironed out is the shooting. Getting him to become a better shooter on unassisted threes, specifically pull-up threes and threes in isolation, would have him going from a good young player to someone who can serve as a top-three option on an excellent team.

Free COVID vaccinations Friday in Ascension campus of Baton Rouge General – The Advocate

Baton Rouge General will have a free COVID-19 vaccination event 1 to 3 p.m. Friday at its Ascension Parish hospital off La. 73 in Prairieville, hospital officials said.
Participants must register in advance and bring identification and an insurance card, if you have one, officials said in a statement Tuesday.
The hospital is providing the Pfizer vaccine. Recipients must stay at the hospital for 15 minutes after receiving the shot to ensure they don't have an allergic reaction, hospital officials said.
BRG has vaccinated more than 30,000 people through two vaccine clinics in its Bluebonnet and Mid City campuses in Baton Rouge, as well as community events and special events for groups such as postal workers and teachers, hospital officials said.
The vaccine is available to those age 16 and older.
