Floyd Mayweather Throws Wild 44th Bday Bash for Himself, Gives Logan Paul Update – TMZ

Diamonds, Bugattis, sushi ... and scantily clad butts.

That's what surrounded Floyd Mayweather at his 44th birthday bash on Thursday night -- a wild "futuristic" event in Florida.

The boxing superstar rolled up to "The Venue" in Fort Lauderdale for a massive bash dubbed, "Floyd's Futuristic 44th Birthday Extravaganza."

He arrived in one of his $2 million Bugatti supercars -- dripping in millions of dollars worth of diamond chains.

On the way in, he was asked for an update on his recently postponed exhibition boxing match with Logan Paul -- is it still going to happen?

"I know it's going to happen," Floyd said ... "We just want make sure everything is right and everything is where it should be."

Inside, the party was wild -- tons of food, live music, booze, and hot ladies on rollerskates to entertain the crowd.

The venue is called "The Venue" -- it's a massive 32,000 square foot event space "outfitted with the most advanced technology in sound and lighting, special effects including laser capability and 3D Projection Mapping," according to its website.

In other words, it's super high tech.

Celeb guests included Rick Ross, Larsa Pippen, Jacquees (who performed) and President Joe Biden's brother, Frank Biden.

Floyd's cake was pretty cool too, complete with money and a private jet ... he shared the party with friend Jas 'Limitless' Mathur who plunked down $700k for the bash. We're told there was $200k worth of champagne, ice sculptures and dancers to complete the vibe.

We're told there was a COVID protocol in place -- people were screened at the door, temperature checks and an emphasis on social distancing.

That said, Floyd did not appear to be wearing a mask at any point of the evening.

Mayweather doesn't actually turn 44 until Feb. 24th -- but he clearly wanted to get the party started early.

Europe Invites People With Disabilities to Become Astronauts – Futurism

The European Space Agency (ESA) is about to hold its first astronaut recruitment drive in 11 years, and its hoping to make the future of space exploration more representative.

The new drive is focused on making crewed space missions more diverse, according to The Associated Press. That means the ESA wants to send more women into space 495 of the 560 people to ever leave Earth have been men. And, in a world first, the ESA announced that the time has come to open the astronaut application process to those with physical disabilities a huge step toward better inclusivity and representation in space programs.

The entire recruitment process will take 18 months, after which the ESA will choose a new cohort of astronauts from the pool. For the entire history of Earths space programs, people with physical disabilities have been excluded from the process due to physical requirements meant to prepare crewmembers for the rigors of life in space. But the ESA is now opening those doors, through what its calling the Parastronaut Feasibility Project.

Representing all parts of our society is a concern that we take very seriously, ESA Human and Robotic Exploration Director David Parker told the AP. Diversity at ESA should not only address the origin, age, background or gender of our astronauts, but also perhaps physical disabilities.

The ESAs push for a more inclusive space program isnt just important from a symbolic standpoint. It could also lead to the development of new tools that make space travel simpler and safer. Not only for the people who need specific equipment or considerations, but for everyone else who would benefit from the new avenue of research as well.

We are looking towards the Moon and Mars, ESA director general Jan Worner told the AP. We need very excellent astronauts for the future. To go farther than we ever have before, we need to look wider than we ever have before.

During the 1990s, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates picked up a bad boy reputation for taking a hard line in the companys antitrust spat with the United States government.

But for decades since stepping away from the software giant, Gates has rebranded as a philanthropist and policy advocate for humanitarian and policy issues including public health, climate change, and hunger.

Now, in an electrifying interview with MIT Tech Review that touches on all those initiatives and more, Gates is coming down hard in favor of fake meats and even recommending that every single rich country on Earth move away from real beef as soon as possible.

Gates said that what he called the 80 poorest countries will still be eating actual cows for a while. But hes optimistic about the developed worlds path to fake meat.

I do think all rich countries should move to 100 percent synthetic beef, the billionaire told MIT Tech. You can get used to the taste difference, and the claim is theyre going to make it taste even better over time.

Interestingly, Gates said hes optimistic that plant-based beef replacements can replace meat from actual cattle without lab-grown meat taking over the market. To underscore the point, he slammed Memphis Meats a lab meat company that he has himself invested in and praised a pair of plant-based competitors with which he also has had financial relationships.

Now the people like Memphis Meats who do it at a cellular level I dont know that that will ever be economical, he said in theMIT Tech interview. But Impossible and Beyond have a road map, a quality road map and a cost road map, that makes them totally competitive.

Of course, Gates is an influential thinker and policy shaper but take it all with a grain of salt. After all, this is the guy who thought Internet Explorer was going to dominate the browser market.

Wonder Woman: 10 Facts About The Amazons You Need To Know | CBR – CBR – Comic Book Resources

There have been many reinventions of the Amazons in their long history, but some have distinguished themselves in the grand scheme of things.

Interest in the lore of the DC Universe has expanded after the success ofthe DCEU's films, with Wonder Woman being the most successful one yet. The Amazons have garnered such fan interest that there is to be a spin-off film based entirely on this tribe.

Its worth knowing more about the Amazons from the source material as the DCEU derives most ofits characters'backstory from there. There have been many retcons and reinventions of the Amazons in their long history, but some havedistinguished themselves in the grand scheme of things.

The first story featuring Wonder Woman in All Star Comics #8 established that the Amazons were from a place known as Paradise Island. Aphrodite had been the one to sculpt all the Amazon women out of clay and breathed life into them.

In this continuity, the last one to be sculpted was Diana, which made her the youngest one. At the time, the Amazons lived to serve Aphrodite and the Goddess was the one who granted them life, favor, and immortality.

The first story is the best comic for new readersbecauseit establishes both Wonder Woman and the Amazons. It depicted Steve Trevor landing in Paradise Island by accident and discovering the Amazons that inhabited the place.

After learning of the World War that was taking place in the human world, the Amazons engaged in a competition to decide who would accompany Steve back to his world and fight alongside him. This competition was much like the one shown in the intro of Wonder Woman 1984, and Diana ended up winning.

This would be an interesting storyline for the DCEU to adapt, as the Amazons origins still havent been depicted in that universe. All Star Comics #8 showed the history of Amazonia, once a great nation that Hercules decided to conquer.

While he lost Hippolyte, he seduced her to steal the magic girdle, which angered Aphrodite enough for her to claim the Amazons immortality. Although Hippolyte managed to reclaim the girdle and their immortality, Aphrodite banished the Amazons to Paradise Island as punishment for failing in the human world.

It remains to be seen if this tribe becomes one of the next villains DCEU's Wonder Woman will fight, as the Amazons of Themyscira were shown to have contentious relations with the Bana-Mighdall Amazons. Wonder Woman Vol. 2 #29-33 showed the origins of this tribe.

Theyre a splinter group who were part of Antiopes tribe that never got the immortality of the Themyscira Amazons.Becauseof this, they were forced to accept the favor of Egyptian gods who granted them the Bana-Mighdall city that was surrounded by a powerful sandstorm to protect their land.

This is an origin story that the DCEU has so far ignored, as the idea of reincarnated souls becoming warriors might be too much of a stretch. In the Post-Crisis continuity of the DC Universe, the Amazons history was changed to depict them as having once been women who were killed by men.

Artemis was the one who brought them to life in this continuity, as she transformed them from their sculpted clay forms into strong bodies with eternal youth and trained them to be warriors much like the goddess that birthed them.

Its no wonder that Diana is the Wonder Woman as shes the strongest Amazon yet. In fact, being Wonder Woman isnt just a superhero title, as the moniker is bestowed upon the Amazon that has proven herself to be a champion and ambassador for Themyscira.

Dianas mother, Hippolyta, was Wonder Woman before her, having been the one to lead the Amazons to Paradise Island after freeing them from Hercules slavery. The Amazon who proves herself to usurp Dianas achievements will become Wonder Woman in her place.

Wonder Woman Vol. 3 #18 is a comic that DCEU fans will enjoy reading, as it depicts further information about the Amazons. The courting ritual of the women on the island was shown, which involved presenting a coconut from one Amazon to another, containing a necklace and a bracelet.

The one who initiates the courting needs to place the necklace around the neck of the Amazon shes pursuing along with wrapping the bracelet around the wrist. If the intended lover accepts this gift, the Amazons are considered to be united in a relationship.

The Amazons origins have gone through enough changes to eventually end up with the belief that there were five original goddesses who were responsible for their creation. The Feast of the Five is meant to be a celebration of this event and tribute to the goddesses.

It is the holiest day for the Amazons, as it signifies their beginning as a tribe and acknowledges the legacy they have carved out for themselves. To this end, the Feast of the Five is seen as a day where they go all-out in celebration and prayer to the goddesses.

The Amazons can be hurt by powerful weapons but are inherently immortal and have a natural healing factor. However, they can still be killed or fatally wounded,but can be healed by using the Earths soul to renew their bodies, as seen in Wonder Woman Vol. 2 #30.

Diana was shown doing so in Wonder Woman Vol. 2 #120, where she prayed to Gaea to grant her this healing ability, explaining that its not something the Amazons can do all the time and the prayer can only be answered under special circumstances.

Initially, it appeared as if the Amazons only had similar appearances to Wonder Woman. However, Wonder Woman Secret Files and Origins went to extensive lengths in Amazonian history and showed that the tribe has every ethnicity in its ranks.

This makes Themyscira a multi-ethnic place, although one thats only inhabited by women. Every woman is considered a warrior and trained in the same manner in a number of skills.

Alexei Navalny Rejects Atheism and Finds Faith in God, References Words of Jesus During Appeal in Moscow – CBN News

During an appeal hearing in Moscow over the weekend, Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny unveiled his newfound faith in God as he continues to fight for his freedom and his dream of leading Russia away from the authoritarian grip of Vladimir Putin.

The 44-year-old, who is Putin's most well-known critic, was arrested on Jan. 17 at Moscow's Sheremetyevo Airport while returning from Germany where he spent five months recovering from nerve agent poisoning that he blames on Putin's government.

Earlier this month, a lower court sentenced Navalny to two years and eight months in prison for breaking the terms of his probation while recuperating in Germany. His sentence stems from a 2014 money-laundering conviction that Navalny argues is untrue.In Saturday's court hearing, the judge rejected the appeal of his prison sentence.

Navalny used the opportunity to once again encourage Russians to oppose the Kremlin, including references from the Bible, "Harry Potter," and even the animated series "Rick and Morty."

"The government's task is to scare you and then persuade you that you are alone," he said. "Our Voldemort in his palace also wants me to feel cut off," he added, in a reference to Vladimir Putin.

"To live is to risk it all," he said, quoting "Rick and Morty." "Otherwise, you're just an inert chunk of randomly assembled molecules drifting wherever the universe blows you."

Then Navalny revealed that he is no longer an atheist and believes in God now, finding truth in the Bible. He told the court he believes the words from Matthew 5:6 in which Jesus says that those who hunger and thirst for righteousness are blessed.

"Even though our country is built on injustice and we all constantly face injustice...we also see that millions of people, tens of millions of people, want righteousness," Navalny said. "They want the righteousness and sooner or later they will have it."

Hinting at Putin's vice-grip control over every aspect of Russian government and life, Navalny said, "Just imagine how wonderful life would be without constant lying. Imagine how great it would be to work as a judge ... when no one would be able to call you and give you directions what verdicts to issue."

After his appeal hearing, Navalny also faced a judge over charges of slandering a war veteran and was ordered to pay a fine of 850,000 rubles (about $11,500).

Navalny had been criticizing a pro-Kremlin video at the time, calling a 94-year-old veteran and others "corrupt stooges," "people without conscience," and "traitors" for supporting Putin's regime last year.

At the hearing, Navalny said his accusers "will burn in hell."

Faith in numbers: Behind the gender difference of nonreligious Americans – The Conversation US

One of the most consequential stories in American religion in recent years is the rapid and seemingly unceasing rise of nones those who respond to questions about their religious affiliation by indicating that they are atheists, agnostics or nothing in particular.

According to some recent estimates, around 4 in 10 millennials and members of Gen Z, a group that comprises those born after 1980, do not identify with a religious tradition. In comparison, only about a quarter of baby boomers indicate that they are religiously unaffiliated.

Social scientists are only beginning to explore the demographic factors that drive individuals who no longer feel attached to a religious tradition.

But as someone who follows the data on religious trends, I note one factor appears to stand out: gender.

Scholars have long noted that atheism skews male. Meanwhile, critics have pointed toward the apparent dominance of male authors in the new atheism movement as evidence of a boys club. Indeed, a quick scan of the best-selling books on atheism on Amazon indicates that almost all of them are written by male authors.

According to data from the Nationscape survey, which polled over 6,000 respondents every week for 18 months in the runup to the 2020 election, men are in general more likely than women to describe themselves as atheists, agnostics or nothing in particular. The survey, conducted by the independent Democracy Fund in partnership with the University of California, Los Angeles, was touted as one of the largest such opinion polls ever conducted.

However, tracking the gender gap by age reveals that at one point the gap between men and women narrows. Between the ages of 30 and 45, men are no more likely to be religiously unaffliated than women of the same age.

But the gap appears again among older Americans. Over the age of 60, men are 5 to 8 percentage points more likely to express no religious affiliation.

Moreover, older Americans both men and women tend to be far less likely to identify as nones compared with younger Americans, according to respondents of the survey.

What may be driving this pattern of young women and older women being less likely to identify as nones than their male counterparts?

One theory in social science called the life cycle effect argues that when people begin to marry and have children, some are drawn back into religious circles to raise their kids in a religious environment or to lean on support structures that religion may provide.

But once kids grow up and leave the house this attachment fades for many. I make this point in my forthcoming book called The Nones.

The data on gender and those with no religious affiliation could indicate that this drifting is especially acute for men. One explanation could be that men are more likely to be religious when they are part of a family unit, but when children grow up, that connection becomes weaker. Unfortunately, the survey does not offer a direct test of this hypothesis.

But it would fit with survey research over the past five decades that has consistently found that Christian women are more likely than men to attend church.

One word of caution about the data is necessary. The survey is just a single snapshot of the the public in 2019 and 2020. Its possible that this same pattern would look different if data were collected 20 years ago or 20 years from now. Either way, it offers a small window into how age and gender interact with the religious lives of Americans.

New Movie to Tell the Story of C.S. Lewis’ Conversion from Atheism to Christianity – Christianheadlines.com

A new C.S. Lewis movie set before the 1950 publication of Lewis's The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe, seeks to tell the history of how Lewis turned from atheism to Christianity.

The Most Reluctant Convert is a screen adaptation of a one-man stage play starring Max McLean. According to the production company's website, the film seeks to show Lewis's journey from becoming a "hard-boiled" atheist into the convert and apologist he became.

The production company, 1A Productions, is taking on a "new approach" combining cinematic storytelling with a costume drama to tell the story of Lewis's conversion in a way that will "surprise as well as inform."

The production company describes the film as "an unusual film drama, based on a highly successful theatrical production in the United States. The renowned actor, Max McLean, becomes C.S. Lewis on screen in an entertaining yet life-changing journey from hard-boiled atheist to 'the most reluctant convert in all [of] England.'

The production company's website lists the film as being released in the Spring of 2021. According to Deadline, production has wrapped up for the film and the film was shot in and around Oxford. The film is being produced by Matthew Jenkins, who is known for Murder On The Orient Express and Artemis Fowl. The film is being directed by Norman Stone, who won a BAFTA award for Shadowlands. Additionally, the film enlists cinematographer Sam Heasman, who is known for Dr. Who. The soundtrack is being composed by golden-globe-winner Craig Armstrong.

Lewis, who is known as one of the most influential Christian apologists of the 20th Century, is known for writing Mere Christianity, The Chronicles of Narnia series, and for his regular broadcasted chats about Christianity's truthfulness and answers on why atheism doesn't hold up to scrutiny. Lewis died in 1963 at 64 years old.

JACKSON, MI -- The Jackson County Animal Shelter, 3770 Spring Arbor Road, has many pets available for adoption.

Here are two of them.

Blackjack is a 5-year-old black-and-white Staffordshire mix. He has a big deep bark but really is a sweet boy. He is working on walking on the leash and trying to be house-broken.

Peanut is a super affectionate female 2-year-old brown tiger cat. She is small as her name implies and her big gold eyes are captivating.

A meet-and-greet with a dog is mandatory. A cat room walk-through is available to test reaction. The dog adoption fee is $150 for medium and large dogs and $200 for puppies and small dogs, which includes vaccinations, microchip and sterilization.

Cat adoption fees are $60 for one cat, $80 for two, which includes applicable tests, vaccines and spay/neutering.

Blackjack Busting the most common myths – FULLSYNC

Blackjack is a very popular card game. It gathers a lot of people around its tables in real casinos, ready to spend a lot of time playing. It requires concentration, memorization and self-control amidst a whirlwind of intense emotions. In general, its one of the most interesting games in casinos. But there are many myths about it, which often prevent the game from being a joy to play.

People often think that you can only win at blackjack games by counting cards. But you can also win the game just by chance, which is how the game was originally designed to be played. We doubt whoever created blackjack had it in their mind for anyone to build strategies to beat the system. Nevertheless, card counting is the main strategy used, but its far from the only winning strategy that works. Its just that the others are much less well known and somewhat less effective.

Another myth around counting cards is you have to be an expert mathematician. But thats not the case at all. The counting procedure is simple and primitive; anyone can learn to do it. Some people practice by counting all the cards as they come out of the shuffle, or even the trees on the road on their way to work. The result is simply an automatic counting skill that immediately tells the player when to raise the bets to win.

You cant win at blackjack if youre playing on an emulator in an online casino such as casinonic.com. However, that myth is only semi-true. The emulator is completely the same thing, the only difference is that cards are mixed by the software program and not the croupier. Although they are mixed every game on emulators, whereas with live dealers they use multiple decks and normally reshuffle them all after about 75% of the deck has been used. This means youre not able to really count cards using an emulator.

But many casinos now use automatic shufflers so many operate in the same way now, and so there are nor real noticeable differences in the online version of the blackjack game. But as we say, you also may try online blackjack with live dealers, where if you think itll help you win, you will be able to read the croupier, guessing what cards hes holding, and therefore increase your chances of winning more often just like in conventional casinos.

Blackjack takes a long time to learn. Also, not entirely true, because the operators for the casino are not taught before starting work on their own for three years, but a week at most and they need to learn ALL the games that are in the casino in order to beat the players. Although they normally have more strict rules to follow than the rest of the players at the table, like not being able to stick on anything below 17.

You might hear people say you can win a million in an evening at blackjack. Thats false. At poker, yes, probably because there tends to be bigger prize pools in tournaments with sponsorships and all sorts. But not blackjack. The game mechanics of the blackjack are slower and youre normally restricted to a maximum bet value, so unless youre in a high-flying casino for millionaires in Monte Carlo or somewhere similar, youre not going to become a millionaire over night. Still, you can win a fair amount if lady luck is on your side.

Blackjack is more addictive than any other gambling game. Not at all. It is a more intellectual game that takes a matter of skill to play successfully. It allows the player to make more rational decisions because you can judge what is on the table at the time, the likeliness of what you need and the chances of getting it. Its therefore less addictive than roulette for example, because what tends to get people addicted is the risk of chance, and what bigger chance have you got than guessing where a metal ball lands on a wheel, hence why the odds are much higher on roulette.
