The publics perception of the harms of magic mushrooms is in line with science but not with … – PsyPost

Posted: at 4:46 am

New research suggests that the publics perception of the potential harms of magic mushrooms is not in line with drug laws. The study, which appears in the Journal of Psychopharmacology, found that psilocybin-containing mushrooms are considered less dangerous than alcohol, tobacco, and other substances.

I am a psychopharmacologist at the University of Liverpool, so I have a great interest in how substances affect the brain and behavior, said study author Carl Roberts, a lecturer in the universitys department of psychology.

I have long been following the resurgence in research with psychedelics such as psilocybin for therapeutic potential. I knew this research area had been gaining quite a lot of attention recently. I also knew that the data on actual harm of magic mushroom use suggested that toxicity and abuse potential was low.

However, they are classified as a Class A drug in the UK suggesting the same relative harm as heroin and cocaine, Roberts explained. So I was interested to see what the publics perceptions of harms around magic mushrooms were i.e. are they in line with government legal classifications, or are they in line with the scientific evidence?

For their study, the researchers asked 151 participants to rank the dangerousness of ten different substances: alcohol, tobacco, prescription opiates, heroin, cocaine, ecstasy, magic mushrooms, cannabis, LSD, and GHB.

The participants were recruited from various websites and social media pages that provide information about recreational drug use. Nearly half of them were from the United Kingdom, while approximately 21% were from the United States. The remaining participants were from countries in the European Union.

Despite magic mushrooms being a Schedule I substance in the United States and a Class A substance in the United Kingdom the most restrictive categories the researchers found that most participants considered magic mushrooms to be relatively safe compared to the other substances.

Those who had previously used magic mushrooms ranked it as the least dangerous substance. Those who had never used magic mushrooms, on the other hand, ranked it as the second to least most dangerous substance. (Non-users ranked cannabis as the least dangerous substance.)

Both people with a history of using magic mushrooms, and those who were non-users considered magic mushrooms to be less dangerous than heroin (Class A), cocaine (Class A), prescription pain-killers (legal with prescription), GHB (Class C), ecstasy (Class A), tobacco (legal) and alcohol (legal), Roberts told PsyPost.

This suggests a general perception of harm of magic mushrooms that is in line with data on actual harm (abuse potential and toxicity) and the scientifically recognized relative harms of psilocybin mushrooms compared to other drugs. This indicates that public health messaging based on scientific evidence about relative harms of drugs are seen as more credible information sources than government legal drugs classification systems.

But the study like all research includes some caveats.

This was an online survey style study. As such, there is a potential selection bias here, in that perhaps only participants who are interested in this research area took part. Thus a much larger random sample would be necessary to properly gauge general public perception, Roberts explained.

In addition, this study provides no information about potential negative long-term health effects of using psilocybin mushrooms in controlled and uncontrolled settings, which is something that requires further research.

While magic mushrooms were ranked as less dangerous than several other legal and illegal substances in our sample, this does not mean that they are considered to have no harm at all, Roberts added. Rather, that relative to other drugs, perception of harm is low. Indeed, there are documented cases of adverse reactions and other complications associated with magic mushroom use.

The study, Perceived harm, motivations for use and subjective experiences of recreational psychedelic magic mushroom use, Carl A Roberts, Isaac Osborne-Miller, Jon Cole, Suzanne H Gage, and Paul Christiansen.

Will Australia legalise ecstasy and magic mushrooms to treat mental illness? Here’s why it’s still too soon – The Conversation AU

Posted: at 4:46 am

While the public focus remains on COVID vaccines, the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) continues to evaluate a range of proposals around the provision of medical treatments in Australia.

The regulatory body is currently considering whether psychiatrists should be allowed to prescribe MDMA and psilocybin to treat mental illness. The TGA will announce its interim decision on February 3, and will make a final ruling on April 22.

Psychedelic drugs for the treatment of mental illness represent a promising area. And any new treatment which could help people suffering particularly in the wake of the pandemic may seem like a good thing.

But until Australia engages in further research into the therapeutic potential of these drugs, we believe its too soon to make them available as medicines.

Increasing research evidence suggests MDMA, commonly known as ecstasy, could be an effective adjunct to psychotherapy for people with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

Meanwhile, clinical trials of psilocybin, the psychoactive component of magic mushrooms, show it could assist psychotherapy in the treatment of anxiety and depression, addiction, and a range of other mood disorders.

On this basis, in July 2020, an organisation called Mind Medicine Australia made an application to the TGA requesting MDMA and psilocybin be classified as Schedule 8 controlled medicines.

MDMA and psilocybin are currently classified as Schedule 9 prohibited drugs. Other examples of Schedule 9 drugs include heroin and methamphetamine.

As Schedule 8 controlled medicines, MDMA and psilocybin would sit alongside drugs like dexamphetamine, morphine and some forms of medical cannabis. Some of these and other Schedule 8 drugs such as ketamine and cocaine are used recreationally.

If the TGA reclassifies MDMA and psilocybin, Australia would be the first country in the world to recognise these drugs as legitimate medicines.

Read more: Psychedelics to treat mental illness? Australian researchers are giving it a go

Early research suggesting psychedelics had therapeutic potential lapsed after 1971, when the drugs were made illegal around the world. But it resumed early in the 2000s, manifesting into an international renaissance in psychedelic science.

Australia was a little later to get involved than some countries, but in the past 18 months weve succeeded in initiating clinical research locally.

Edith Cowan University, Monash University, the University of Melbourne, and St Vincents hospitals in Melbourne and Sydney all have research on psychedelic-assisted therapies either in the pipeline or already underway. The trial at St Vincents hospital in Melbourne is the first to have started recruiting participants.

These trials aim both to contribute to the research happening globally, and to demonstrate that Australia has the regulatory processes, people and infrastructure to provide these treatments safely and effectively.

There are three key reasons why Australia is not yet ready for MDMA and psilocybin to be rescheduled as medicines by the TGA.

1. No accredited training

Australia has very few health-care professionals trained to provide psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy. These drugs produce powerful changes in consciousness that could lead to psychological harm, rather than healing, when given to unsuitable patients, or by health-care workers without the necessary training.

2. Prohibitive costs

Medical cannabis is only legally available in pharmaceutical formulations the actual plant is not available as a medicine. This makes medical cannabis expensive. Only 3.9% of Australians using cannabis for medical reasons access it legally. We expect pharmaceutical-grade MDMA and psilocybin will also be expensive to access.

3. Going underground

Like medical cannabis, were concerned that lack of access and prohibitive costs will mean more people will access existing unregulated MDMA and psilocybin treatment services. This puts people at risk, since theres no quality control of either the drugs or the therapists.

Should these issues arise, our efforts over recent years to finally establish psychedelic medicine in Australia could be undone.

Given these concerns, we believe its highly unlikely the TGA will decide to reschedule MDMA and psilocybin as medicines at this stage.

And while emerging evidence is continuing to suggest these drugs can be effective adjuncts to psychotherapy, we believe the application was made without sufficient regard to the universally accepted process of new drug approval.

We need to see Phase 3 clinical trials completed before any informed decisions can be made (the trials in Australia have not yet reached Phase 3). This approval process is important so we know the drugs are effective and safe, including understanding any side effects.

By way of comparison, we know Pfizer wouldnt apply for TGA approval for a new antidepressant before completing Phase 3 research. Even the COVID-19 vaccines Pfizer, AstraZeneca and Moderna are fast-tracking internationally have been required to complete stringent, widely scrutinised Phase 3 trials.

Read more: How will COVID-19 vaccines be approved for use in Australia?

Current and future Australian research in this space will offer a crucial pathway for therapists to learn how to provide psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy. This is an important step before Australia is ready for MDMA and psilocybin to be approved as medicines.

Moving forward, we anticipate Australian health-care professional registration boards will come to acknowledge psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy as a speciality area of training, and will need to develop accredited training programs to meet the demand for appropriately qualified therapists.

Notably, none of the current research into psychedelic-assisted treatments for mental illness in Australia is receiving government funding. Government support will be important to extend this research beyond the early-phase trials, and ultimately will be crucial for the widespread rollout of this treatment.

Finally, to ensure equitable access, psychedelic-assisted therapies will need to be embedded within the public health-care system and supported by the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme.

Our submission to the TGA, along with others, will be made public on February 3, when the TGA announces its interim decision on the rescheduling of psilocybin and MDMA.

Posted: at 4:46 am

Phoenix, Arizona--(Newsfile Corp. - January 20, 2021) - The Stock Day Podcast welcomed Silo Pharma Inc. (OTCQB: SILO) ("the Company"), a developmental stage biopharmaceutical company focused on merging traditional therapeutics with psychedelic research for people suffering from indications such as depression, PTSD, Parkinson's, and other rare neurological disorders. CEO of the Company, Eric Weisblum, joined Stock Day host Everett Jolly.

"Personally, I have over 20 years of experience investing and working in the private and public markets," shared Weisblum to start the interview. "I have served on the board of NASDAQ listed biotech companies, and have consulted and worked with licensing technologies from various universities."

"Why did you choose this particular space?" asked Jolly. "There's a lot of research that has been done, there's a lot of positive studies and clinical trials that are on-going," said Weisblum. "It is estimated that by 2027 this will be a $6.85 billion market according to Data Bridge Market Research," he shared. "We see this as a tremendous opportunity, not just for the investors and the upside, but to actually develop and bring therapeutics to the market that could actually help people."

Weisblum then elaborated on the therapeutic applications of psychedelics. "A lot of the studies have shown very positive data that anxiety, depression, and PTSD respond very well to some of the psychedelic drugs," explained Weisblum. "We see a tremendous opportunity for people that have not responded to traditional therapies," he continued, adding that the Company is currently focused on combining traditional therapeutics with psychedelic research for their potential role in treating individuals with CNS disorders.

Jolly then asked about the Company's investment potential and primary objectives. "Neurological and central nervous system disorders are what our focus is on," said Weisblum. He then explained that the Company is hopeful that the ongoing studies involving the use of psychedelics to treat anxiety and depression will help them determine if these compounds can be used with their proprietary IP to help patients with Parkinson's and other disorders and conditions.

Story continues

The conversation then turned to the Company's accomplishments in 2020. "What I'm really proud of is our Scientific Advisory Board," shared Weisblum. "I think we have some of the most well-regarded, reputable people in the industry."

"What are you hoping to accomplish in the next two to three quarters?" asked Jolly. "We're moving forward with our LSD and psilocybin study for the effects on Parkinson's," said Weisblum. "In addition, we are doing a study with our peptide for multiple sclerosis and we're looking forward to receiving those data points and moving those forward in 2021," he continued. "We are also working on a couple of technologies within various universities that we hope will consummate in 2021."

"How did you get involved with the University of Maryland?" asked Jolly. "Through prior experience with a biotech and NASDAQ listed company," responded Weisblum. "I helped transform that company into a full biotechnology company, and I have developed relationships with various universities and tech transfer departments," he explained. "A lot of it is relationship-based, and I think that's one of the strengths that we have as a team over here."

To close the interview, Weislbum shared that the Company will continue to strive to advance the combination of therapeutics and psychedelics in an effort to make a difference in patients with a variety of disorders.

A Look into the Life of Tim Leary Through the Eyes of His Psychedelic Lover – Green Entrepreneur

Posted: at 4:46 am

January21, 20215 min read

Its a question I last considered in the nineties. I first wondered if Leary was CIA when Black Panther Eldridge Cleaver put his ass under revolutionary house arrest in Algeria after he escaped from prison with the help of the Weather Underground. Why would the Weather Underground choose Leary out of all the black political prisoners in the country? Many of them are still in jail fifty years later.Dont need a weatherman to tell which way the wind blows.

RELATED:A Crash Course On Opportunites In Psychedelic Medicine

In the nineties, The Beastie BoysGrand Royal(the magazine, not the label), with its colorfully painted cover of Lee Scratch Perry, askedWas The Sixties Revolution A Government Plot?According to the article, Leary tuned in, turned on and turned coat. Mark Riebling, the author, extensively details the CIAs history with LSD and Learys relationship with the intelligence community. It turns out, Riebling is co-founder and former research director of the Center for Tactical Counterterrorism. Cat knows his espionage (although, if I listen to my Discordian home-slice, Robin, Rieblings article couldve just as easily been a disinformation plant). Who the fuck knows? This shit reminds me of the hype promoting the computer revolution in the 90s. And Leary was there, too, before his head was sawed off and turned into a block of ice.

But the question inMy Psychedelic Love Storyis whether or not Joanna Harcourt-Smith is CIA. In an early scene, Allen Ginsberg, with revolutionary indignation, and incantatory imprecations, accuses Ms. Smith of being a sex-tool of the CIA. I laughed and laughed. Out of the bearded mouth of NAMBLA.

Joannas tale is a real eat me/drink me drop down the rabbit hole. Heres a taste.

Shes hanging out with the Stones after hooking up with some cat the Stones nicknamed Tommy the Tumbling Dice and stuck him on a 45. Presidential hopeful George McGovern asks the Stones to do a gig at one of his campaign rallies but sympathy from the devil aint in the stars so she ends up on the floor of Diane Von Furstenbergs Manhattan apartment, lounging on a mink blanket. Diane hands her the phone and its international arms dealer Michel Hauchard. Over drinks at the Regis, he tells her he got a check for two hundred fifty thousand dollars for Learys attempt to emulate Aleister Crowley withConfessions of a Hope Fiend(apparently, Leary believed he was the reincarnation of the Great Beast, probably in the same way Crowley believed he was the reincarnation of Eliphas Levi). Why? Leary signed over thirty percent of any book royalties he earned to Hauchard. In return, Hauchard had his ass thrown in jail.

RELATED:5 Ways Technology Is Powering The Psychedelic Movement

Eventually, Joanna and Tumbling Tommy end up at Learys chalet in Laucern, Switzerland. Instantly, shes impressed by the Porsche-driving High Priest who tells her after dosing some Clear Light acid Youve come to free me!

Curiously, this film has a moment tangentially related to Stan Grofs theories of psychedelics and the trauma of the birth canal, discussed inmy reviewof The Way of the Psychonaut. Before coitus, Leary shows a nude and bejeweled Joanna x-rays of the brain pictured in an issue of Life magazine. Pointing at the x-ray, he tells herI am going to make love to you here.It reminded me of a Charles Manson seduction in Ed SandersThe Family.

The story she tells is pretty incredible, justifying Morris use of Disney animation clips and imagery from Crowleys Thoth tarot deck. In fact, the films design is one aspect I love most. His kaleidoscopic use of archival footage gives it the look of the sixties underground tabloid,The San Francisco Oracle. The other aspect I love is Joanna Harcourt-Smith.

I cant believe I am about to write this sentence, but she is a woman who operates from her heart chakra. She is quite moving in openly telling her story. Was she an operative planted by the CIA?

Its complicated. Her best response:

A lot of people have been manipulated to manipulate history.

Sadly, on October 11, 2020, she succumbed to breast cancer at her home in Santa Fe, New Mexico, surrounded by her family. She was seventy-four years old.Errol Morris saidof Ms. Harcourt-Smith, I was privileged to show her the completed movie just before she died. She watched it, Ive been told by her family, six or seven times the week of her death and she loved it.

One Way The GOP Can Keep Trump’s Base And Win Back The Suburbs – The Federalist

Posted: at 4:44 am

With Donald Trump out of office, Republicans now face the difficult balancing act of retaining new voters he brought into the party while bringing back voters he alienated. Remarkably, Trump brought former Democrats and union workers and minorities into the GOP. He also oversaw some bleeding in the suburbs. To stop the tide of illiberal cultural leftism, Republicans cant afford to write off either group.

I dont know what degree of political involvement Trump will have going forward. I do know, however, that the Trump base is much more loyal to the man himself than to the Republican Party. Thats a lesson the Beltway establishment seems to forget.

Appealing to Trumps base while also appealing to educated suburban voters might seem like a mutually exclusive exercise. For Trump himself, I think it was. His utter singularity creates advantages and disadvantages, which is illustrated by this exact predicament. The brashness that gave Trump appeal with new demographics is what hurt him with groups like suburban women.

The question, then, is whether its possible for Republicans to channel Trumps brashness in a way that doesnt also alienate key voting blocs. It wont be easy, but I think the answer is clearly yes. Not only is that formulation politically advantageous, its also the moral path forward. Without the baggage of Stormy Daniels or bizarre tweets about Mika Brzezinski, Republicans should embrace an aggressively anti-establishment temperament and agenda.

Take this fascinating prescription from the infamous 2012 RNC Autopsy report: When it comes to social issues, the Party must in fact and deed be inclusive and welcoming. If we are not, we will limit our ability to attract young people and others, including many women, who agree with us on some but not all issues.

Inclusive and welcoming were code words for socially moderate. That Republicans believed they could stitch together a diverse coalition of voters under the pastel banner of growth and opportunity (the report is literally in pastels) by ignoring or moderating on social issues is remarkable to think about now. Just two years after the reports release, a big chunk of the GOPs base proved that wrong, flocking to Trump not in spite of but because of his political incorrectness.

To the extent its possible, Republicans must absolutely seek to elevate leaders of good character who represent conservative values. That is not mutually exclusive with fighting back aggressively in the lefts culture war.

Cancel culture is an umbrella issue with some room for policy solutions and a lot more room for cultural solutions. But its a hugely important issue for working people, in rural America, in suburbs, and in cities. What happens to the mom who politely questions their public schools embrace of the pro-trans book I Am Jazz in curriculum for elementary students? What happens to the father who loses his job or gets a suspension over a Facebook post about Colin Kaepernick? When cancelations unfold in the media, Bari Weiss can start a Substack. When they unfold outside the Acela Corridor, cancel cultures victims lack powerful platforms to push back.

As weve reported, whether these hypotheticals are happening at a substantial rate (and I think they are), suburban voters worry about them. Who wouldnt? Kamala Harris used to discourage Democrats from obsessing over identity politics because what keeps people awake at 3:00 a.m. has more to do with mounting bills and health care. Maybe. But these days, I dont think cancel culture is just an abstract concern that looms large over newsrooms. I think it keeps a lot of people up.

All that is to say, part of what voters in these ostensibly disparate blocs want from the GOP is a fighting spirit. Its not just about NAFTA or a child tax credit, although done correctly the latter is a good example of policy solutions that can appeal to both groups. The increasingly right-of-center working-class agrees with the Tea Party base on one point: They have zero tolerance for politicians who make fiery speeches at CPAC about fighting back and then vote with the establishment in D.C.

Its not just about cancel culture. Its about the media. Its about immigration and corporate welfare and the Second Amendment and foreign entanglements and nonsensical leftist notions of gender. Its largely about temperament but with some serious policy implications in terms of developing a pro-family, working-class agenda.

Of course, its not as simple as standing at a podium and laying into CNN. Suburban voters want the GOP to stand against Democrats wild spending priorities. That will come into some tension with the working class, along with other conflicts. But what will help Republicans unite this difficult coalition is packaging an anti-establishment temperament and policy agenda in leaders of strong character.

Future Republican standard-bearers neednt tweet about the size of their nuclear buttons or act like Jeb! Bush to keep the advantages of Trumpism and ditch the baggage. They just need voters to know theyre fighting. The good news is that this is both a politically expedient strategy and a morally correct one.

McCarthy: Trump Isn’t The Only Person To Blame For Jan. 6 Capitol Riot – The Federalist

Posted: at 4:44 am

House Republican Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy came under fire this weekend for claiming in a recent interview the entire country shares some responsibility for unrest at the Capitol earlier this month.

During a Full Court Press interview with former Fox News host Greta Van Susteren, McCarthy rejected the idea that President Donald Trump was entirely responsible for inciting the riot as Democrats attempt to impeach the former president after hes left office.

I thought the president had some responsibility when it came to the response. If you listen to what president said at the rally, he said, demonstrate peacefully. And then I got a question later about whether did he incite them. I also think everybody across this country has some responsibility, McCarthy told Van Susteren, according to a transcript obtained by Newsweek.

Trump detractors immediately seized on the comments, vilifying the Republican for declaring an uncomfortable reality.

A McCarthy spokesperson spun the California congressmans comments in a statement to Newsweek claiming the House minority leader is merely being misunderstood, arguing instead McCarthy meant to reiterate genuine calls for unity as a task placed on everyone.

I understand that some might want to spin McCarthys comments as spreading culpability of the actual rioters to everyone, but thats just plain wrong. He has maintained since the attacks that we all have a responsibility to lower the political temperature across the spectrum that has been building for years and unite as Americansthis isnt the first instance of political violence, a spokesperson told the magazine.

McCarthy also released a video chronicling his consistency condemning the violence, a consistency absent among Democrats when left-wing militants frequently broke out in riots in the name of social justice last year.

The initial interpretation of McCarthys remarks however, werent entirely wrong to begin with. Theyre just an uncomfortable reality legacy media refuses to reckon with.

No writer has explained corporate medias culpability in the Capitol attacks as succinctly as Federalist Culture Editor Emily Jashinsky in her article, To Heal, We Must First Acknowledge Plummeting Public Trust Is Reasonable.

Jashinsky highlights the story of Ashli Babbitt, a 35-year-old veteran who served in the military for 14 years before she was shot and killed storming the Capitol.Below is one of Babbitts final retweets on Twitter.

People I trust in DC 1) President Trump the end, the post reads.

While it might be misguided, these sentiments are emblematic of how many Americans feel towards Washington. U.S. institutions including Congress have failed them time and time again while lying and mocking them. Evidence of that is made clear on what happened Jan. 6.

Jashinsky writes:

Theyve watched their mayors and governors violate their own regulations for the sake of leisure or personal convenience or politics, crippling business and workers while they eat crabs. They then watched the medias nakedly unbalanced coverage of it all, wild bias from bonus-pocketing journalists purporting to be arbiters of fact and undisputed occupants of the moral high ground.

Their lives, like all of our lives, have been upended in just over a decade by products tech oligarchs promised would make us happier. Those same billionaires now join the chorus of elites who treat them as irredeemables and deplorables because they disagree with full-throated progressivism.

Now Democrats have passed a snap impeachment of a president already voted out of office, not featuring a single hearing with a single witness, forcing the Senate to conduct a trial for an ex-president. Theres no context for unity with the backdrop of impeachment, let alone a process playing out to punish a man only to be made a martyr from the partisan procedure.

Legacy medias conduct doesnt justify what happened at the Capitol several weeks ago. Nothing does. But legacys medias conduct did contribute to the unraveling of trust in the nations institutions, leaving millions, if not thousands, looking to Trump as the only figure they felt spoke with truth. So did the Democratic Partys normalizing political violence, the Republican Partys clinging to electoral fiction, academia breeding aggressively woke children running the nations newsrooms, and Hollywood unfairly mocking those refusing to conform to their left-wing standards.

Former Fox News Host Megyn Kelly, who now runs her own podcast with no allegiance to Trump, made the same point on BBC below, earning her the same scorn from the same sort of people refusing the same responsibility for playing any part in fomenting the the divisions that ultimately stormed the Capitol.

Inauguration Violence Erupts… From Antifa And The Left – The Federalist

Posted: at 4:44 am

As Washington, D.C., and federal officials around the country geared up for what many wrongly predicted would be an insurrection by Trump supporters on Inauguration Day, Antifa members rioted and denounced Joe Bidens presidency in cities across the nation.

In Portland, hundreds of violent Antifa rioters took to the streets to protest Bidens inauguration, with some vandalizing the Oregon Democratic Party headquarters, smashing windows, graffitiing the walls, and lighting dumpsters on fire.

Another group marched to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility in the city, chanting, F-ck Joe Biden. Shortly after they arrived, federal law enforcement declared an unlawful assembly as the crowd lobbed objects at the officers and the building.

Police eventually arrested and charged multiple people in connection to the destruction, but during other rowdy gatherings in the area, some demonstrators called for revenge against police murders, imperialist wars, and fascist massacres, carrying a banner painted with We dont want Biden.

In Seattle, Antifa rioters burned flags and wreaked havoc on businesses in Pike Place Market, a popular tourist attraction in the citys downtown. Some carried banners calling for the abolition of ICE, cops, prisons, borders, and presidents.

Police in Seattle arrested a handful of people in connection with the ongoing property damage and Antifa logo vandalism on the side of buildings all across the area.

In Denver, an Antifa group burned an American flag near the Colorado Capitol, while some displayed banners emblazoned with communist, anti-fascist, anti-Biden, and anti-Trump logos and statements.

Multiple rioters were also caught on camera assaulting other people during the gathering.

Just last summer, violent Black Lives Matter and Antifa rioters inflictedmore than$2 billion in damages on businesses, churches, federal buildings, and other downtown structures in some of these same cities. Through arson, looting, vandalism, and other crimes, rioters brought damage across more than 20 states, leaving at least 30 people dead in their wake. These riots were largely ignored by the media as just isolated instances of property damage or justified in the name of racial justice.

Ben Domenech: ‘You’re Not Going To See A Lot Of Unity In Practice’ – The Federalist

Posted: at 4:44 am

Federalist Publisher Ben Domenech highlighted President Joe Bidens aggressive pursuit for a partisan, progressive agenda on day one in office this week, despite the Democratic presidents rhetorical themes of unity at his inauguration.

Youre not going to see a lot of unity in practice, Domenech said, as Biden signed a series of executive orders on Wednesday to open the door to taxpayer-funded abortions, rolling back policies of the Trump administration.

Bidens message Wednesday, Domenech said on Fox News The Ingraham Angle, was basically a cmon man, lets unify, message, and nothing offered in terms of anything tangible while he was surrounded by a scene of militants and a bunch of congressional leaders born before 1950, clinging to their power.

He couldnt even bring himself to compliment Vice President Pence who was there for the work that he did on Operation Warp Speed, which every American should be proud of, considering the kind of thing that was achieved there, Domenech added.

On Fox News Americas Newsroom Thursday, Domenech again emphasized that the scene at Wednesdays inauguration sends a message of fragility, not strength, where a bunch of people who are kind of holding on for dear life at the end of their political careers gathered for the event.

If youre seeing that scene as an American, you dont feel a lot of confidence in this new setup, in this new administration, Domenech said.

Bidens partisan executive orders were particularly problematic, particularly his erasure of womens sports in the name of unity. On Wednesday, Biden mandated that institutions such as schools that receive any federal funding allow biological males who identify as female to be welcomed into womens locker rooms and sports programs.

Thats going to be a major issue, a hugely controversial one if you look at polling, Domenech said.

By Thursday afternoon, #BidenErasedWomen already began trending on Twitter, where even left-wing feminists expressed anger over Bidens decision, perceiving the executive order to be a move effectively erasing progress on equality in sports.
