LSD – Psychedelics
Posted: August 16, 2017 at 6:29 pm
Commonly known as acid, LSD is an illegal drug that produces potentially dangerous hallucinogenic effects in its users.
LSD is a psychedelic drug that is commonly referred to as acid. This is one of the most common hallucinogens and has been widely abused since the early 1950s when it was thought that LSD may have beneficial uses in the clinical field. This psychedelic drugis also known as a hit, dose, microdot or sugar cube on the streets referring to the various methods of which the liquid form of the drug is placed on elements for consumption.
LSD is a drug that is found in ergot, a fungus that grows on rye plants. When the fungus is chemically compounded and manufactured it is made into lysergic acid which can produce a powerful euphoric effect which includes both a body high and a mind high.
LSD is odorless and colorless which means that it can be placed on just about any food or drink or anywhere to be consumed. It is often placed on heavy paper with a distinct image on the paper. The paper is called blotter paper and it is absorbent. When divided into pieces and sold individual as hits LSD is often named for the type of paper that it is on.
No matter how LSD is taken, whether its placed on paper and swallowed or dropped into a drink or absorbed through the skin the powerful effects are quite similar. Some users will drip LSD into the eyes in hopes of creating a strong effect and producing more hallucinations but there is no scientific evidence to support this nor is there evidence that suggests such a practice is safe for the users eyes.
The effects of LSD, like other psychedelic drugs, are unpredictable and dangerous. The effects that a user will experience depend on the individual user, the amount of LSD that was taken, the surroundings of the user while under the influence and the mindset of the user when he or she takes the drug.
Most of the effects of LSD will wear off after a few hours of taking the drug but if a user takes LSD repeatedly or for a prolonged period of time the effects of the drug may persist of stick around even when the drug is not being used. Some people report seeing trails or visual lines that extend when colors are moved even after they have stopped using LSD. Flashbacks are also a common outcome when LSD has been used repeatedly. A flashback occurs when a user experiences a similar situation in which they experienced while under the influence of LSD in the past. Flashbacks can occur a few days, weeks or even years after the last use of LSD.
Although LSD is not considered an addictive substance it can lead to some mental instability problems. Most people who take LSD will not repeatedly take the drug due to the rapid increase in tolerance that develops with each subsequent use of the drug. Generally speaking, LSD will not lead to addictive behavior such as drug seeking or adverse reactions when the drug is not being used.
Unfortunately, using LSD can have an adverse effect if you are not careful. Because there are no regulations on the drug that can pinpoint the amount of LSD that is being consumed with each dose, there is no way to regulate how it will affect you if taken. Likewise, the unpredictable nature of the high associated with LSD use makes it difficult to know how you will react from one use to the next. Even people who have taken LSD many times in the past are likely to suffer from adverse effects of the high in certain situations which cannot openly be determined upfront.
Like other psychedelic drugs, LSD also has a risk of causing underlying mental instabilities to come to the surface and cause problems for the user. People who already suffer from anxiety or schizophrenia are likely to experience heightened effects associated with these mental illnesses if they use LSD. For some, there is no underlying evidence of the mental instability until the drug is used and symptoms later come out as a result of the drug usethis is where the greater danger tends to come into play.

This Philosopher Thinks Psychedelic Drugs Lead to the Truth of Experience – Big Think
Posted: at 6:29 pm
Philosopher Chris Letheby believes that psychedelic drugs are a legitimate way to achieve a spiritual and therapeutic transformation. His doctoral research at the University of Adelaide was the first systematic attempt to relate psychedelic experience and 21st century philosophy of cognitive science. He argued in his thesis that psychedelics can be rightfully regarded as bringing a deeper understanding of our selves and the world around us. In fact, he says, the use of psychedelics is very much consistent with philosophical naturalism and our current scientific knowledge.
While using psychedelics, Letheby maintains, subjects gain knowledge of their own psychological potential and the fact that their selves are constructed. He expanded on these ideas in his recent interview with the 3:AM Magazine.
Letheby says that as recent scientific evidence shows, psychedelic sessions can lead to the reduction in the symptoms of anxiety, addiction and depression. Since these activities prevent people from engaging with the world, our normal way of gaining knowledge, psychedelics provide what Letheby calls epistemic benefits - allowing the patients to get reconnected and be able to once again take in information.
Chris Letheby.
The philosopher described his philosophy as physicalism or materialism that basically says the mind and consciousness emerge from the complex organisation of non-minded, non-conscious things. He thinks that from that standpoint, psychedelic states can allow the subjects to gain genuine knowledge of psychology.
Specifically, I think psychedelic subjects gain what philosophers call knowledge by acquaintance of their own vast psychological potential, says Letheby. They become directly acquaintedbecause it becomes manifestwith the modal or dispositional fact that there are vastly many, often very unusual, possible ways that their minds can be.
This is why, he claims, many spiritual seekers of the 60s ended up dedicated to meditation to expand upon the potential they realized existed while tripping.
He also thinks psychedelics can illustrate to people that the self is constructed. He thinks the drugs can offer a quicker path than meditation to having a transformative ego dissolution experience.
To those who criticize psychedelics as not providing a true experience since its not grounded in reality, Letheby says such drugs can really lead to real knowledge.
My claim is not just that psychedelic experience involves meaning, but that psychedelic transformation does, expounds Letheby. I mean something very specific by this: that the causal process leading from psychedelic ingestion to psychological benefit (be it therapeutic or cosmetic) essentially involves phenomenally conscious mental representations. This is important because it is a way of making precise the claim that psychedelic transformation is a distinctive type of psychopharmacological intervention.
In a Matrix-like twist, the philosopher also argues that psychedelic experiences can show that the ordinary waking perception is actually a controlled hallucination. What psychedelics do is disrupt this illusion and could draw peoples attention to the constructed or simulated nature of the reality in which they live. The drugs can show that the entire world they inhabit is produced by and exists within their consciousness.
Check out the full interview here, with a fascinating discussion of other topics like the role of neuroscience and antidepressants in our lives.

Rabat Essaouira has earned the title of the City of Trance. Exclusive Interview: Andrew Rayel announced his own label called ‘In Harmony’ – Rave Jungle (press release) (subscription) (blog)
Posted: at 6:27 pm
Andrew Rayel has been regarded as one of the more genuine and transparent individuals within the trance music scene.Despite his busy schedule he sat down with Rave Jungle during this years edition of Tomorrowland festival in Belgium to fill us in on what hes got in store in the coming months.
During our conversation, the Trance superstar opens up about his passion for Trance music, his new album Moments, the current dance music scene and many more. Among other things Rayel also announced his own label called In Harmony.
How do you like it here in Belgium and what you think about this years edition of Tomorrowland festival ?
Andrew: Well, Tomorrowland is definitely one of the biggest and greatest festivals in the world, and is a very big honour to play here. This is my fourth year playing here, last year i played at the Mainstage and it was one of my biggest dreams come true. You know its always a big pleasure to be here at Tomorrowland festival where fans gather from all around the world.
How do you decide what songs will go on your show ? And whats one track that always find place in your sets ?
Andrew:Probably the one track that i never stop playing is Dark Warrior, its a track that fans know everywhere. Usually Tomorrowland festival is a good place to premier a lot of new music, and thats what im gonna do today. I will treat the fans tonight with some material from my new album.
Youve recently released your new artist album called Moments. Can you tell us a little more about this new album ?
Andrew:Well ive been working on this new album for like two years or so and ive got collaborations with legendary vocalists such as Emma Hewitt,Christina Novelli and a lot of other great artists. Its evolution of the sound, starting from something slower and more melodic going to something really fast and harder. Ive decided to make it very diverse, cause it gets very boring when you use the very same sound all the time.
And whats your personal favorite track from this album ?
Andrew: Theres no one favorite track, because ive made them all with the same passion and i love all the tracks equally. So you guys, have to choose whats your favorite
What does the remainder of summer hold for you ?
Andrew: Im gonna do shows at H Ibiza, there are a lot of upcoming music festivals for me here in Europe, im gonna play at Electronic Family, Creamfields and many more. After that we are going to Asia, cause we did our first part of the global tour only in the United States at massive EDM festivals such as Ultra Music Festival, EDC Las Vegas, and now well change our direction for our Asian fans.
Do you think Trance music gets the attention it deserves ?
Andrew:I mean, only god knows what Trance music really deserves but obviously we want this genre to have everything. It never died, its never gonna die its still there, there are still a lot of Trance fans, as you can see theres a whole stage here at Tomorrowland dedicated only for Trance music, so yeah it probably gets the attention.
Please recommend two young Trance DJs to our readers which you feel deserve their attention ?
Andrew: Well, i would say David Gravell, i really like his Trance sound. Also theres Willem de Roo and Husman, these two guys are really making great tracks so i would definitely recommend them.
What do you think about DJs yelling during their sets all the time, like Get your f**king hands up or Are you f**cking ready 1,2,3 ?
Andrew: Im ok if someone wants to do that, if they feel they wanna engage with the crowd in that way than im totally fine with that. If you do it in a respectful way, and youre doing it nicely in your set, not every 20 seconds or stuff like that, than its ok. But if you do it way to often, than it gets kinda boring.
What advice would you give to DJs & producers who are starting out ?
Andrew: Its very easy, at the beginning you gotta follow someone, make something that you really like and that someone else is already making it. And when you reach a very professional level, when you feel confident enough so you can create your own thing, than you should start searching for something unique and new. Make something completely different that defines you as an artist and that you think people gonna like.
Its ok at the beginning to make something similar to other artists in order to learn how to make it properly, and when you feel ready than search for something new and unique.
Any plans for the future ?
Andrew:Well im planning to release my own label called In Harmony under the Armada music, and its gonna be launched by the end of the summer. Now im ready to promote other people and not only myself.

[Behind the Beat] PURE NRG Bringing Trance To Life – Mix 247 EDM

Meet Solarstone and Giuseppe Ottaviani, aka.Pure NRG!
These two forces have a connection of musical minds that deliver unique no-two-experiences-alike-shows. From playing unexpected turns, twists, and thrills that are amazing LIVE, they play spins that you have never heard of before.
I had an amazing time sitting down with the two of them atIlesoniqFestival in Montreal, Quebec to talk about how they got together to create such incredible beats!
Read it down below!
Mix 247 EDM: How did you boys meet and what brought you two together to create a wonderful duo?
Pure NRG:We were both being managed by the same manager and one day we were having cocktails together in Sydney, Australia and we were talking about how one of us performs live and the other doesnt. Then our manager suggested that we should work together! Its funny because we were getting bookings together as a duo but we hadnt made any music yet! But we met up in Rome and started producing in the studio and made our first show!
Mix 247 EDM: As a du0, how many shows have you performed at together ever since your first show?
Pure NRG:We limit ourselves to 10-12 shows a year to keep it special! Its been about three years and weve performed around 30 shows. We do our own shows almost every weekend but as Pure NRG, we only do around 10 shows.
Mix 247 EDM: Since you two only limit yourselves to a certain amount of shows per year, where would you say your favorite festival or performance would be in your entire life?
Giuseppe: Beyond Wonderland is definitely a favorite!
Solarstone: I dont have a favorite! They have all been so great!
Mix 247 EDM: You two just recently played at a festival called Luminosity! Tell us about it! How does it compare to Ilesoniq and other festivals?
Pure NRG:Luminosity is a small festival, focused mainly on trance in the Netherlands that takes place at a beach club. It was very intimate but there was a real sense of a TranceFamily connection and thats why everyone who attends looks forward to it! The weather was pretty terrible the whole time but the sun came out when we played our hit Scarlett!
Mix 247 EDM: Who are your inspirations in music?
Giuseppe: U2 for sure! Muse is also great!
Solarstone: I get inspired by classical music and talk radio! When I say classical music, I dont mean to sound like an asshole because its more like neoclassical and modern stuff on contemporary labels.
Mix 247 EDM: If you had to pick any kind of superpower, what would you choose and why?
Solarstone: X-Ray vision! That way Id get to look at peoples internals!
Giuseppe: I like flying!

Observer Review Some Cyberpunk and Some Junk – COGconnected
Posted: at 6:26 pm
Its always a sad thing when a game shows such promise but falls short of a fun final product. Observer (stylized:>observer_)had all the makings of an experience worth praising for all the things it did right, but it managed to decay in a couple major ways as the game progressed, leaving for a depressing post-mortem.
Observerputs us into the cybernetically enhanced eyes of DanielLazarski, an observer for the Chiron Corporation. In this dystopian future, Poland is controlled by Chiron, and you act on behalf of the corporation as aMinority Report-esquedetective. While you cant see into the future, you can see into the past by accessing peoples memories through a neural connection. The concept is solid, and DanielLazarskiis a fun protagonist, for a while. Hes voiced byBlade RunnersRutgerHauer as if we needed proof thats whereBlooberTeam drew inspiration. That aside, Hauer achieves something I havent seen in a game before; low-quality voice acting for the sake of story. What starts out as poorly articulated, corny dialogue starts to feel very fitting of the environment as you begin to realize everyone is only a fragment of themselves. They dont talk like you and me because technically, theyre not.
__________________________
Even in the peaceful sequences, the sound adds an eeriness to everything and complements the world really well.
This revelation comes through the people you meet. Whether theyre standing right in front of you, half man, half machine, or theyre only a singular eye on a static-filled view screen, humanity is only ever displayed in portions. This becomes a major theme for the entire gamewhat is humanity and how much of it has been sacrificed in this new world?
Again, to contribute to this concept, the world beats around you with a bleeding, mechanical heart. While investigating a series of grotesque murders that take place in a tumbledown tenement, the building itself becomes a charactera personification of the lowlifes that inhabit it. You can see their daily habits by whats scattered around the floor, or what kind of books they like to read. Some people have terrible secrets, but youll only know about them if you search this world for all it has to offer.
And itsbeautiful.I said this in my previewthe game is so detailed that every room feels unique. Tenements would have been the easiest things to just cookie-cut each room, but they didnt. They breathe, or sometimes they dont because whatever was in there died long ago.
So with all of this, where did things go wrong? It comes down to two things: the story falls apart almost out of nowhere and the horror elements of this game are shamefully easy, and sometimes buggy. For the first four hours, the story had my interest piqued. Cyberpunk almost always leads to the cerebral in one way or another, and Observerjumps into this concept almost immediately. This, matched with the detective aspect, and afriggin genetically engineered wolfman (Im not joking), I thought this game could tell a story worth telling.
__________________________
What starts out as poorly articulated, corny dialogue starts to feel very fitting of the environment as you begin to realize everyone is only a fragment of themselves.
But then it all comes loose in the final half-hour, which is all that remained of Observerafter my preview. Things feel rushed, and they ride entirely off of the cyberpunkclicheof a broken reality. Who is who and who am I, and why should I care? A story can work using that element, but it cant be theentirestory.
As far as the horror parts of the game, Ive had a harder time making sure I watered all of my plants in a farming simulator. The creatures are dumb, predictable, and at some points broken. When theyre not making the same, slow path over and over again, theyre getting caught in a part of the wall and staying there.
What makes these parts at least somewhat heart-pounding is the audio. Sound is a big part of understanding where the monsters are, but the digitized noises are constantly reminding you that something is coming, and it makes you want to either hide or run. Even in the peaceful sequences, the sound adds an eeriness to everything and complements the world really well.
But what are pretty things and great atmosphere if theres nothing rewarding about exploring them? What sense of gratification can be found from outrunning monsters that dont know theyre supposed to be chasing you? None.
Observer markets itself as a cyberpunk horror game, and I think thats the stage from which it should be judged. Cyberpunkneedsworld building and atmosphere to flourish, and Observerbrings that in full. But cyberpunk also relies heavily on a narrative, while horror is, well, horror. By this standard, Observershould be compelling and bone-chilling. And it isnt. The scary bits arent scary and the story goes flat almost out of nowhere, leaving for an experience that is very stunted.

What’s Behind Edap Tms SA (EDAP)’s Movement – Stock Daily Review
Posted: at 6:26 pm
Needle moving action has been spotted in Edap Tms SA (EDAP) as shares are moving today onvolatility-1.81% or -0.05 from the open.TheNASDAQ listed companysaw a recent bid of 2.71 and44618shares have traded hands in the session.
Following all the swirling information about publically traded companies can be quite a task. Every day there may be new pieces of news that emerge about a specific company. The prudent investor is typically able to keep abreast of the information, but most importantly figure out what news is worth paying attention to, and what news should be filtered out. Keeping a sharp eye on earnings reports and fundamental company data can play a big part in picking the right stocks for the portfolio. Once the numbers have been crunched, investors should be able to see things a little bit clearer and know what the general feel for the stock is. Of course there will be stocks that look good after thorough examination but still fail to perform as expected. Investors who are able to wipe the slate clean and take a fresh look at a certain stock may be able to make more informed decisions that will hopefully lead to increased profits in the long-term. Figuring out when to sell an underperforming stock may end up being just as important as figuring out which stocks to buy.
Deep diving into thetechnical levels forEdap Tms SA (EDAP), we note that the equitycurrently has a 14-day Commodity Channel Index (CCI) of -97.36. Active investors may choose to use this technical indicator as a stock evaluation tool. Used as a coincident indicator, the CCI reading above +100 would reflect strong price action which may signal an uptrend. On the flip side, a reading below -100 may signal a downtrend reflecting weak price action. Using the CCI as a leading indicator, technical analysts may use a +100 reading as an overbought signal and a -100 reading as an oversold indicator, suggesting a trend reversal.
Edap Tms SAs Williams Percent Range or 14 day Williams %R currently sits at -92.75. The Williams %R oscillates in a range from 0 to -100. A reading between 0 and -20 would point to an overbought situation. A reading from -80 to -100 would signal an oversold situation. The Williams %R was developed by Larry Williams. This is a momentum indicator that is the inverse of the Fast Stochastic Oscillator.
Currently, the 14-day ADX for Edap Tms SA (EDAP) is sitting at 22.62. Generally speaking, an ADX value from 0-25 would indicate an absent or weak trend. A value of 25-50 would support a strong trend. A value of 50-75 would identify a very strong trend, and a value of 75-100 would lead to an extremely strong trend. ADX is used to gauge trend strength but not trend direction. Traders often add the Plus Directional Indicator (+DI) and Minus Directional Indicator (-DI) to identify the direction of a trend.
The RSI, or Relative Strength Index, is a widely used technical momentum indicator that compares price movement over time. The RSI was created by J. Welles Wilder who was striving to measure whether or not a stock was overbought or oversold. The RSI may be useful for spotting abnormal price activity and volatility. The RSI oscillates on a scale from 0 to 100. The normal reading of a stock will fall in the range of 30 to 70. A reading over 70 would indicate that the stock is overbought, and possibly overvalued. A reading under 30 may indicate that the stock is oversold, and possibly undervalued. After a recent check, the 14-day RSIforEdap Tms SA (EDAP) is currently at 33.63, the 7-day stands at 26.81, and the 3-day is sitting at 28.98.
Active investors are typically interested in the factors that drive stock price movements. Buying an individual stock means that you own a piece of the company. The hope is that the company does very well and becomes highly profitable. A profitable company may decide to do various things with the profits. They may reinvest profits back into the business, or they may choose to pay shareholders dividends from those earnings. Sometimes stocks may eventually become undervalued or overvalued. Spotting these trends may lead to further examination or the underlying fundamentals of the company. A company that continues to disappoint on the earnings front may have some issues that need to be addressed. It is highly important to make sure all the research is done on a stock, especially if the investor is heavily weighted on the name. Sometimes earnings reports may be good, but the stock price does not reflect that. Having a good understanding of the entire picture may help investors better travel the winding stock market road.

We join Levy residents in cheering their new college campus as well as the collective effort of all involved to make this dream become a reality.
It took 13 years. It took the unflinching commitment of an institution and a community. It took persistence and benevolence. In the end, it all came together to make a long-running dream a reality and uplift a community to where it can better educate its citizenry, young and old, and better compete in the 21st century.
Officials for the College of Central Florida gathered Friday in Chiefland to celebrate the opening of the new CF campus in Levy County. It was a satisfying event, no doubt, not just because this rural neighbor of Ocala/Marion County finally had a college campus to call its own, but because of how doggedly the college, its trustees and the Levy County community worked to make it happen.
The idea of a Levy County campus was first floated in 2004 by the CF trustees, who ordered the college staff to begin looking for a site on which to build a campus. A donation of 15 acres of land on U.S. 19 north of Chiefland by local residents Loy Ann and Jack Mann helped determine the site. The college would buy 25 surrounding acres between 2007 and 2010 to establish a 40-acre future campus.
While all this was happening, the community was raising money and the college was lobbying the Legislature for money to build the campus. The effort got a huge boost when it received a $2.5 million gift from lifelong Levy County residents and 45-year schoolteacher Jack Wilkinson in 2009.
But it was not lack of need or lack of support on the homefront that made this project so inexplicably long in coming to fruition. While CF students in Levy County attended classes in a converted Save-A-Lot grocery store that was too small, too technically inferior, too, well, beneath an instituion of CFs stature, college officials pressed their case in Tallahassee.
Despite the obvious need for a better college facility in Levy County, the project was repeatedly rejected not by lawmakers but by governors. It was vetoed twice by former Gov. Charlie Crist and twice more by Gov. Rick Scott.
Finally, in 2014, CF received its first $4.3 million in funding for the campus, which when added to the $3.5 million the community had raised, meant the campus was halfway to being fully paid for. Last year, the state came through with the remaining $7.3 million needed to complete the project.
Named the Jack Wilkinson Levy Campus, the new CF building has 44,000 square feet more than triple the space of its previous quarters with enough room for its 800-900 students, plus all its faculty. There are 292 student stations, five multi-purpose classrooms, faculty offices and a student center. It will allow for more classes to be taught and provide better resources for both students and faculty.
And a lot of credit goes to the CF trustees, who remained committed to the project despite repeated political and funding setbacks. Credit also goes to the community for working to raise money and stir support in the state capital. Of course, Wilkinson and the Manns deserve special thanks.
The Jack Wilkinson Levy Campus is a game-changer for our neighbors to the west. We join them in cheering their new college campus as well as the collective effort of all involved to make this dream become a reality.
