WASHINGTON (AP) Defense officials say the Pentagon is trying to transfer convicted national security leaker Pvt. Chelsea Manning to a civilian prison so she can get treatment for her gender disorder.

Manning, formerly named Bradley, was convicted of sending classified documents to anti-secrecy website WikiLeaks.

The soldier has asked for hormone therapy and to be able to live as a woman. Transgenders are not allowed to serve in the U.S. military and the Defense Department does not provide such treatment.

But officials say Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel has given the Army approval to work on a transfer plan with the Federal Bureau of Prisons, which does provide treatment for transgender inmates.

The officials werent authorized to discuss the case and spoke anonymously.

Nasrallah criticized Syrian Intelligence: WikiLeaks

BEIRUT: A WikiLeaks document published Friday quoted Hezbollah Secretary-General Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah as lashing out at Syrian Intelligence services during a meeting with former President Amine Gemayel years ago.

According to the cable, Gemayel briefed then U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon Jeffrey Feltman on his meeting with Nasrallah a day after it happened on Dec. 3, 2006.

Searching for a word and sounding several out, Gemayel eventually settled on unenthusiastic to describe Nasrallahs attitude about the Syrians. The Syrian secret police only want women and money; they are without morals, the document said.

Gemayel also told Feltman that he was surprised by Nasrallahs hatred of then Prime Minister Fouad Siniora, Future Movement leader Saad Hariri and Feltman.

The cable was translated to Arabic and published on the Lebanese Forces website Friday. Many view the move as an attempt to deal a blow to Gemayels bid for presidency.

Gemayel told Lebanons MTV television that he does not remember he had the conversation with Nasrallah. Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea is also a presidential hopeful.

KPK Will Not Use Wikileaks Reports In Hadi Case

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) says that it will not use leaked US diplomatic reports published on Wikileaks in its investigation into graft case involving former Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) chairman Hadi Poernomo.

The reports revealed Hadis alleged shenanigans during his time as taxation director general in the Finance Ministry under Sri Mulyani Indrawati.

The KPK will not use any information from Wikileaks [] because it has nothing to do with the Bank Central Asia [BCA] tax case, KPK spokesman Johan Budi said on Tuesday, as reported by tribunnews.com.

The KPK has named Hadi a suspect for his alleged role in discriminatively approving a request by BCA, now the nations third biggest lender, for tax leniency during his tenure as taxation director general between 2002 and 2004.

The case is being investigated based on reports from the public, said Johan of the KPK, adding that the antigraft body had found evidence materials it deemed valid.

US diplomatic cable number 06JAKARTA5420_a, which was released in 2011 on wikileaks.org, assessed the work and track record of former and new officials at the Finance Ministry after Sri Mulyani replaced a number of echelon 1 officials, including Hadi. (fss/ebf)
