Edward Snowden action figure goes on sale for $99

AN ACTION FIGURE of government surveillance whistleblower Edward Snowden has gone on sale, with proceeds going to the Freedom of the Press Foundation.

The figure looks a bit like Edward Snowden and a bit like Louis Theroux. It is shown off next to a Julian Assange action figure, unless we are mistaken and are actually looking at a John Inman doll.

The action figure, which places the whistleblower in the same toy chest as Steve Jobs, Mark Zuckerberg and Darth Vader, is being sold by the Thats My Face custom doll outfit.

Visitors to its website can buy either an Edward Snowden head - whistle not included - or a whole body in a variety of outfits.

One option is Edward Snowden in Indiana Jones garb, another is a casual outfit that offers chino pants over bullwhips.

"Introducing the Edward Snowden action figure. Edward Snowden's lifelike head mounted on a 12-inch fully-articulated action figure body with detailed pre-fitted clothes," said the firm.

"Each figure is made to order and all of the proceeds will be donated to the Freedom of the Press Foundation which Edward is on the board of."

As well as a casual Snowden and a Harrison Ford flavoured one, users can also invest in one dressed in army colours or one in a business suit. Additional items like a laptop, but still no whistle, are also available.

The Freedom of the Press Foundation is a non profit organisation that encourages secure journalistic communications and the use of encryption tools. All proceeds from sales of Edward Snowden merchandise will go to the foundation.
