Julian Assange Defends Milo Yiannopoulos as Breitbart Mulls Dismissal – Towleroad

Julian Assange, still holed up in the Ecuadorian embassy in London while avoiding extradition to Sweden on rape charges, defended man-boy love enthusiast Milo Yiannopoulos on Monday night.

Yiannopoulos was disinvited to CPAC and dropped by Simon & Schuster over the weekend after remarks surfaced in which he said he was comfortable with men having sex with boys as young as 13.

Tweeted Assange: US liberals today celebrate the censorship of right-wing UK provocateur Milo Yiannopoulos over teen sex quote.

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange "very happy" about fake news …

Julian Assange, founder of WikiLeaks, speaks via video link during a press conference about its 10-year anniversary, October 4, 2016.

REUTERS/Axel Schmidt

What is special about WikiLeaks is that its not just another damn story, its not just another damn journalist putting their damn byline, advertising themselves and their position on another damn story.

Thats the assessment of WikiLeaks founderJulian Assange, who appeared in Sydney over the weekend (albeit via video link) for a wide-ranging discussion on the failings of modern media, the power of leaked information and why WikiLeaks is happy to court scandal.

And while he says newspapers publish nothing more than weaponized text, hes more than happy with the advent of fake news.

WikiLeaks, whichcelebrated its 10th anniversary in October last year, has never been one to shrink from its stated goal of uncovering government and corporate misconduct. However, the organization has come under fire in recent months for the way it releases information, particularly around thetiming of its leaks in the lead up to the 2016 election.

Fake news websites and stories are flooding the internet. Be careful out there. Here are some to keep an eye out for.

But speaking to the audience in Sydney -- including supporters who were willing to yell their support during the live cross -- Assange defended WikiLeaks as a wonderful library you can trust and a source of original pristine information.

Youre not reading pre-weaponized knowledge, he said of the organizations millions of documents. When you read a newspaper article, you are reading weaponized text that is designed to affect a person just like you.

I think that is the real beauty of WikiLeaks... it is that sea of information, that treasure, that intellectual treasure, that rebel library of Alexandria you can go into.

Assanges comments throughout the two-hour event pitted this unfiltered archive of information against what he called the very, very, very inaccurate press and the opportunistic snipers that work in the industry as journalists.

But this disdain for the global news media did not necessarily extend to fake news.

When the narrative of fake news came out and was then taken off effectively by the neo-liberal press and pushed around... I could see exactly where that was going. I was rather happy about it, he said.

WikiLeaks is very happy that there is a narrative about fake news out there because we have a perfect record of having never got it wrong in terms of authentications.

So what if that pristine information is private correspondence allegedly from one ofHillary Clintons top aides, released a month before the election? Does freedom of information take on a new meaning when that information is timed to have the maximum impact?

Sources dont give you stuff unless its going to have impact, Assange said.

The real value in WikiLeaks is it is a wonderful library that you can trust... But the library has to be marketed. And so the scandal-generation business, which were also in -- I view that as a kind of marketing effort for what is much more substantial, which is our archive.

And as for the timing of the Podesta emails?

We try and maximize the value of the information to readers. So thats publishing it at the moment when they most want to read it, when they most want to know what it contains. And thats definitely before an election rather than after election.

Assange himself is currently in election mode once more, awaiting the outcome of the Ecuadorian presidential election to learn if his status in the countrys London embassy will change. But if theres one thing his Sydney audience learned, hes not shying away from scandal any time soon.

RIP Wikileaks? Ecuador Elections Could Mean The End For Julian … – Empty Lighthouse Magazine

Tomorrow, Ecuador is holding elections. The tiny South American company will be deciding on a president, and two of the top candidates had made a promise to Europe and America: if he wins, Julian Assange is out.

Wikileaks #Vault7: Everything Known About The Secret Vault 7 Project

Wikileaks' 'Sudden Death' Message Sparks Murder Questions

Since 2012, Julian Assange has been holed up in the Ecuadorian Embassy in London. He had been wanted by the United States for years, and when allegations that he sexually assaulted two women in Sweden surfaced, an opportunity for extradition arose. Sweden would not guarantee that they wouldn't extradite Assange to the U.S. if he were to appear in Sweden to face the assault charges.

Assange and Wikileaks suggested that the Swedish allegations would be an underhanded way for him to be sent to the U.S. to face charges of leaking information. So in order to avoid that, Assange fled to the Ecuadorian Embassy in London, where the president offered him indefinite asylum. Legally, in the Embassy, Assange is safe from any foreign law enforcement.

However, that all may change tomorrow. Two of the top candidates for president in Ecuador are saying that they will terminate Assange's asylum if they wins.

One of the candidates, Guillermo Lasso, is a former banker and ambassador to the U.S., and he has close ties to U.S. government officials. So it's no surprise that he would be amenable to American interests. In addition, Lasso was previously the subject of a Wikileaks release.

The other candidate, Cyntiha Viteri, has made a similar statements regarding Assange. Viteri argued that keeping Assange at the Ecuadorian Embassy was too expensive, and that instead the money should be used for other things, such as feeding children in state schools.

The Ecuadorian people don't appear to share that sentiment fully, however. The person in the lead for the presidency, Lenin Moreno, is of the same party as the former president who offered Assange asylum. And many Ecuadorians have spoken in support of Assange and Wikileaks.

If Moreno loses and one of the two anti-Wikileaks/anti-Assange candidates win -- and they revoke Assange's asylum -- he will be released to the U.K., where he will be captured by law enforcement and likely sent to Sweden, which will then extradite him to the U.S. The U.K. could also extradite Assange immediately.

In the U.S., he would face trial and probably suffer a similar fate to Chelsea Manning.

Julian Assange: Hacked Emails Include Info On Hillary’s …

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton knew that the US was sending arms from Libya to Syria back in 2011, a year before the Benghazi consulate attacks.

Hillary Clinton denied she knew about the weapons shipments during public testimony (under oath) in early 2013 after the Benghazi terrorist attack.

Senator Rand Paul questioned Hillary Clinton about this gun running program back in January 2013 during her testimony on the Benghazi terrorist attack.

On Tuesday Julian Assange told Democracy Now that the Wikileaks DNC emails contains information on the weapons shipments to Syria.

Julian Assange: So, those Hillary Clinton emails, they connect together with the cables that we have published of Hillary Clinton, creating a rich picture of how Hillary Clinton performs in office, but, more broadly, how the U.S. Department of State operates. So, for example, the disastrous, absolutely disastrous intervention in Libya, the destruction of the Gaddafi government, which led to the occupation of ISIS of large segments of that country, weapons flows going over to Syria, being pushed by Hillary Clinton, into jihadists within Syria, including ISIS, thats there in those emails. Theres more than 1,700 emails in Hillary Clintons collection, that we have released, just about Libya alone.

Julian Assange trolls intel community over Flynn leaks | TheHill

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange weighed in on the tension between the Trump administration and the U.S. intelligence community, calling it an amazing battle for dominance.

Amazing battle for dominance is playing out between the elected US govt & the IC who consider themselves to be the permanent government, Assange wrote on Twitter Wednesday, one day after joining the social media website.

Assange was referring to recent intelligence leaks about contact between Trump aides and Russian officials. The New York Times, citing current and former officials, reported late Tuesday that Trump campaign aides had repeated contacts with Russian intelligence officials ahead of the U.S. presidential election.

President Trump himself took aim at the leaks on Wednesday, accusing the intelligence community of illegally giving the information to the publications.

The real scandal here is that classified information is illegally given out by intelligence like candy, Trump wrote on Twitter. Very un-American!

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) signaled Tuesday that he would probe the leaks about Flynn.

There has been consistent speculation about potential connections between Trump and Russia since the intelligence community tied breaches of systems used by the Democratic National Committee and former Clinton campaign chair John Podesta to the Russian government. Batches of hacked emails were published by WikiLeaks leading up to the presidential election, though Assange has denied have connections to Russia.

Trump also fueled questions throughout the campaign by making complimentary statements about Russian President Vladimir Putin and indicating he would like to foster warmer relations with Moscow.

Democrats and some Republicans have voiced support for congressional investigations into Flynns contact with Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak ahead of Trumps inauguration.

Separately, WikiLeaks wrote on Twitter Tuesday that the transcript of phone calls between Flynn and Kislyak should be released to the public so everyone can act with complete knowledge.

Assange could be in big trouble ahead of Ecuadorian election – The New Daily

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange could be forced to find a new homein 30 daysas Ecuador prepares for the election of a new presidenton Sunday.

Ecuadorspresident Rafael Correa, who has supported him since he sought asylum inside the London embassy in 2012, has reached the two-term limit as president and will be replaced.

The Andean countrys lead opposition candidate is offering a sharp break with ten years of leftist rule, vowing to remove Assange from the nations London embassy, speak out against Venezuelas socialist government, and likely renegotiate debts with China.

Conservative former banker Guillermo Lasso is the oppositions frontrunner in Sundays presidential election.

Polls suggest the ruling party candidate, paraplegic former Vice President Lenin Moreno, 63, will win but fall just short of enough votes to avoid an April run-off against Lasso, 61.

In an interview Lasso vowed that within one month of taking office in May he would remove Assange from Ecuadors embassy, where the Australian has been holed up since 2012 to avoid extradition to Sweden.

Ecuador had no business spending a single cent protecting someone who definitely leaked confidential information, Lasso said.

I will take on the responsibility of inviting Mr Assange to leave the Ecuadorean embassy at the latest 30 days after the start of our government, he said.

Assange sought refuge in the Ecuadorian embassy to defy an extradition order to Sweden where he is wanted for questioning over alleged sexual assaults.

His fear was that the US would seek his extradition to face potential charges over the leaking of classified information on his WikiLeaks site.

Amid reports Wikileaks is drumming up support for Assange aahead of the election, Assange conducted a wide-ranging interview with radio station 3AW on Thursday, where he spoke to Neil Mitchell about raising funds for Wikileaks.

He told the radio station that he thought having Trump as US President was amazing and that every day is like Christmas.

He said it was difficult to earn a living being holed up inside the embassy for five years.

In the wake of the latest developments at the embassy, Assanges speaking engagements via live video on Sunday may be by telephone hook-up instead.

JULIAN ASSANGE

Asked byWHO Magazine in 2014 what he would do if he could leave the embassy, Assange responded: Maybe it isnt helpful to go through every day wishing like that.

What would I do? Id continuemy work as a publisher and find a place whereI could relax with my family and friends out ofrange of a surveillance camera.

Pamela Anderson and Julian Assange: friends with vegan benefits – The Guardian

No sooner has Richard Curtiss Love Actually reunion been announced than a rival emerges to its thermonuclear romantic charms. It is the burgeoning closeness between Ms Pamela Anderson, latterly of the beaches of Los Angeles County, and Mr Julian Assange, currently of the Ecuadorian embassy in London.

By way of a recap, the association first came to light last October, when the Baywatch legend was photographed arriving at the embassy to visit the Wikileaks founder, carrying what she said was a vegan meal. Very shortly after, some hokey-cokey over Assanges internet access being cut (by Ecuador, as it turned out) prompted some of his supporters to speculate that he was dead. If hes dead, shrieked confirmed inadequate Roosh V, Id have that food tested. Some fingered Pamela as a possible Hillary Clinton agent, with the various theories doing the rounds including the suggestion that she had given him apoisoned vegan sausage.

And yet if we may pose the question indelicately was the passing of the sausage in the other direction? Over to our two principals, who cant wait to be stagily coy about their relationship, and at considerable length.

First up is Pamela, who speaks to Grazia, with the magazine allowing her to explain why she demurred from answering whether she was in a relationship with Julian. Its very difficult to talk about when youre under surveillance, explained Pamela, hinting she has more viewers at Langley than she has had since being voted off in round one of Dancing on Ice in 2013 (after a series of stumbles, Keith Chegwin would eliminate her in the skate-off).

As she took Grazia into her confidence, Pamela was keeping under the radar at a party for a lingerie brand at Annabels nightclub. Right out of the Salman Rushdie hidden years playbook, that one. Though looking at the transparent lace dress she turned up in, I need hardly tell you Who Wore It Better. Hes a great guy, she went on, of Julian. I dont want to say anything about whether theres aromance. So, lets say were just good friends.

Grazia goes a bit further, alleging they have had a series of dates at the Ecuadorian embassy. Im not sure where else they would have dates, unless for their sixth anniversary hes planning to show her the inside of apolice van, followed by dinner at the Heathrow detention area. After all, if its not old hat to mention, nearly five years into his monstrous pussy-out, Julian is still wanted in Sweden to answer sexual assault allegations.

But what does the man himself have to add on the romance/showmance? Plenty, if his subsequent interview with an Australian radio show is anything to go by. I mean, I like her, shes great, he says of Pamela. Are they in love? Im not going to go into the private details. Come, come. Shes an attractive person with an attractive personality. And furthermore: Shes no idiot at all shes psychologically very savvy.

Note the well-placed psychologically. I love how Julian manages to make even a compliment sound proprietorially undermining. Other people think youre a moron, Pamela ONLY I SEE THE REAL YOU. But theres more. Youve got people like Pamela Anderson who are independent because they kind of manage their own career, the Putin stooge judges. She cant really be squeezed by, you know, a TV executive. All right, all right Ithink she gets it now, Julian. Shes not on the telly any more.

In some ways, none of this should be a surprise confinement can be aturn-on. I imagine Julian has all sorts of unfortunate cases writing to him as penpals; he may even be engaged to six or seven of them. Since he has been inside, the Yorkshire Ripper has had more girlfriends than Mick Jagger, so it seems reasonable to assume that a whole spectrum of notorious incarcerations can be an aphrodisiac. (Unless were putting the Rippers appeal down to the rapes and hammer murders.) Only this week, Britains Most Dangerous Prisoner, Charles Bronson, got engaged again, this time to a former soap opera bit-part player, who told the Mirror: I used to think he was a violent thug, but from the moment I read one of his books, I just had to write to him he was the inspiration I have been waiting for all my life.

(Incidentally, to all those Assange bros now planning to write very silly 4,000-word blogs claiming I am literally equating Julian Assange with Peter Sutcliffe and Charles Bronson: you go right ahead and break ground on those bad boys, my darlinks. If it falls to me to keep you off the streets for an afternoon, so be it.)

As for Pamela, she does seem far too nice to be mixed up in all this. Its so rare that he has someone to come and visit him and bring him things, she says, of Julian. So I want to be able to do that for him.

Of course, his social life wasnt always so sparse. Time was Julian had a constant stream of famous visitors at the Knightsbridge-based embassy, who always stopped off at the nearest grocer (Harrods) to pick up something yummy for him. Their significant funds coupled with their significant lack of imagination meant this was almost always a hamper. I was told by one who saw it that his room ended up almost wicker-walled, with Julian always able to produce a potted stilton or some whisky marmalade for Kathy Lette, John Pilger, Yoko Ono or whoever was on the afternoon shift. (Never mind those stories of Barney the Purple Dinosaur being played on a deafening loop at Guantanamo. In some ways, you have to concede that the Assange celebrity guestlist was the most sophisticated psychological torture ever conceived.)

Some years on, and ... well, its true that you can safely ignore the best-before dates on a lot of those foodstuffs. But I would imagineJulians tinned pt stocks are nearing dangerously low levels. Indeed, the welcome attentions of the strictly vegan Pamela means Julians latest batch of documents from the Kremlin is only the second most-guarded secret in that room, bumped out of its hiding place by his now uber-sensitive supply of foie gras.

Wikileaks is one of the only reliable news stories because its just the truth, concludes Pamela, bravely resisting getting bogged down in The Obvious. I really believe history will look back on him as such an importantperson.

So do I, old stick. For now, there is a distinct spring in Julians step. On Valentines Day, he reactivated his five-years dormant Twitter account (yes, yes there goes the neighbourhood) with a flourish, announcing: Rumours of my death have been greatly exaggerated (in a curious plot). But of course in what else? Clearly, this is all heading for a headline-grabbing two-shot on the embassys Juliet balcony, and I urge our lovebirds to proceed to it without delay.

Julian Assange Calls President Trump Out for Anti-Leak Rhetoric – The Libertarian Republic

LISTEN TO TLRS LATEST PODCAST:

by Micah J. Fleck

Wikileaks mastermind Julian Assange has recently defended the press for publishing the truth despite president Trumps recent uptick in inflammatory rhetoric against media outlets for being fake news whenever they release real leaks that are less than flattering to the current administration.

According to Russia Today:

Having been accused of helping to get Donald Trump elected, and even being praised by the US president himself for the Hillary Clinton leaks, WikiLeaks founder has criticized Trumps crusade against fake news and low-life leakers.

The press should never appologise [sic] for publishing true information, Julian Assange tweeted.

The message was in response to a Trump tweet sent out early on Thursday morning, in which he wrote:

Leaking, and even illegal classified leaking, has been a big problem in Washington for years. Failing @nytimes (and others) must apologize!

On Tuesday, the New York Times published a story citing four current and former American officials, whose names were not given which claimed that members of Donald J. Trumps 2016 presidential campaign and other Trump associates had repeated contacts with senior Russian intelligence officials in the year before the election.
