Secret life in a monastery behind the wall
Elizabeth Ann Kuhn, grew up in the hills of Pennsylvania, in a small town called, Masontown, Population of about 5000. She is a Coal Miner #39;s daughter, the third child of four siblings. She attended Catholic School, in her home town for 12 years. She attributes her spirituality to her Catholic Education, and it found expression in her joining the Trappistine Monastery in Wrentham, Mass., the female branch of the Trappist Monks, in the Order of Cistercians of the Strict Observance; the strictest Order in the Catholic Church. She was there for almost seven years. She was a Postulant for six months, a Novice for two years and had taken Simple Vows for a little over four years.The decision that, "God just wanted her there for a time and not for the rest of her life" came just before solemn Vows. She left the Monastery and returned to a world completely changed from when she left it.She has been writing Short Stories and Plays for many years. Many of her stories and essays are published in "The Christian Therapist" newsletters and Magazine. She felt that the Lord had laid it on her heart to write a Memoir of her life leading up to and while in the Monastery. It is not often, that one gets the opportunity for a glimpse behind these walls, or to know about this Order and what the Nuns do all day. She wanted the world to know that there are people praying for them. She finally finished her book, "Behind the Wall," last year.
