(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) An expert has said that spirituality and family values are key to rehab of alcohol and drug addicts.
Rahul Luther, founder director of Hope Trust was addressing a day-long seminar on Addictions' held at Al Falaj Hotel recently.
Hope Trust is a well-known rehab centre in the south Indian city of Hyderabad. Around 100 physicians, psychiatrists and psychotherapists took part in the seminar which focused on the role of family and spirituality in dealing with the menace of drug and alcohol abuse.
It was organised by Muscat Family Physicians, a group of doctors from Muscat governorate and was held as part of the group's Continuing Medical Education programme in coordination with Arel Hope Recovery Services, a sister concern of Hope Trust.
The seminar was chaired by Dr Amr Abdel Khalek Guenedi, consulting psychiatrist, Sultan Qaboos University Hospital. Vijay Sesadri, consultant psychiatrist from Hope Trust also addressed the seminar. Dr Sanjay D Dalal, coordinator, Muscat Family Physicians said, ''We are happy to have experts from a leading Indian rehab centre take part in this programme. Drug abuse is on the rise worldwide. It is affecting the young generation and in the process affecting families, societies and nations. It also affects productivity and security.''<
