"Compassion Training as a Pathway to Lifelong Health and Well-Being" by Charles Raison
This presentation will discuss the relevance of spirituality to physical and emotional well-being by focusing on studies conducted at the Norton School and at Emory University on a new meditation-based intervention entitled Cognitively-Based Compassion Training (CBCT), which is a secular technique derived from Tibetan Buddhist practices for enhancing one #39;s sense of caring for self and others. Data will be shown demonstrating that CBCT has the potential to optimize emotional and physical responses to psychosocial stress and affects the brain in a manner that enhances people #39;s ability to understand the emotions of others. Finally, preliminary data will be presented suggesting that compassion training actually changes people #39;s daily behavior in ways likely to enhance emotional well-being and improve physical health.From:UAFMIViews:0 0ratingsTime:46:10More inEducation
