As a nation of animal lovers, we asked our readers to share with us photos and stories about the pets in their family.

Maybe you have a rescue animal that has made a difference in both your lives.

From the exotic and unusual, to sofa-hogging cats and dogs, whether its a funny photo, story or event, we want to hear from you.

Or you can email your pictures or stories to claire.pierce@newsquest.co.uk

Here are some of our readers' pets we've heard about...

Helen Ellis, from Sealand: "This is Bella and she is my daughter Chelsea's dog, her baby."

Helen also introduced us to another four-legged friend: "This is Poppy, she is part of the family. She is loving and such good company and we would not be without her."

Wendy Wynn, from Wrexham: "Erica was one of four pups born on Christmas Eve. She was smallest born and cheeky. She has had epilepsy since she was four-weeks-old but is doing fine now."

Jane Hughes, from Holywell: "Llewellyn is 13. He's a bit of a drama queen, doesn't like visitors, bad smells and will only eat the expensive food. Llewellyn was born in this house, unfortunately all his siblings and parents have died now but he's still going strong."

Seth Livesey, from Wrexham: "Digby is a two-year-old flatcoated retriever. Hes obsessed with his teddies and loves meeting new people to give a flattie wash! Hes got lots of friends on his walks and says hello to them every night. We both love sweets and ice lollies. My Nain said Digby is me but in fluffy pants!"

Charlotte Cooper, from Broughton: "Yogi is a rescue dog and we've had him for almost five years. We think he's about nine-years-old and he loves people! He will always want to stop and chat to people when out for a walk but can be a bit frustrated with other dogs. He's a super big brother to his human siblings, two-year-old Teddy and nine-week-old Ivy."
