Mason Felling Cut - Pine Snag - University of Kentucky Forestry
Mason making the back cut on a pine snag at Camp McKee Boy Scout Reservation, December 2012. The University of Kentucky Forestry Club removed several snags and hazard trees from the scout camp at our annual winter retreat. We use this event to teach club members the basics behind chainsaw safety and tree felling while helping students expand their knowledge of tree physiology and growth. In my opinion, the best way to learn and understand something is by doing it. Everyone that wants to run a saw with us goes through one-on-one, hands on training by a qualified club member. We then put the saw in their hands and, under close supervision, let them put that saw into a tree. This video shows Mason #39;s knocking down his first tree ever, and it went right where we aimed it.From:KyBackRoads561Views:0 0ratingsTime:01:09More inNonprofits Activism
