Little is known or understood about FND. It can be as debilitating as Parkinson #39;s and MS yet because of the lack of research its actual prevalence is not even known. There are not effective treatment plans, many around the world are sent home to suffer in silence with hopes it will go away on its own. People with this disorder often loose the ability to walk, experience extreme pain, muscle spasm or weakness, dystonic movements, non-epeleptic seizures and some must self catheter. There is a common occurrence of physical triggering events such as illness or injury prior to onset. Women are most often effected.
