List of medical schools in the United States – Wikipedia …

This list of medical schools in the United States includes major academic institutions that award either the Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degrees, either of which is required to become a physician or a surgeon in the United States. MD-granting medical schools are accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education, while DO-granting medical schools are accredited by the American Osteopathic Association Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation. There are presently 141 accredited MD-granting institutions[1] and 31 accredited DO-granting institutions[2] in the United States. Alaska, Delaware, Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming lack medical schools (Idaho, in terms of population, is the largest state without any medical school at all, despite being one of the fastest growing states with over 1.6 million people; in contrast, Vermont, with a million fewer residents than Idaho (Vermont has just over 600,000 residents) has its own state-sponsored medical school).

These medical schools are still in the process of undergoing accreditation and are not yet accepting student applications.
