The primary care doctor is a critical piece to the healthcare system, if not the most critical. By 2050, we will have a national shortage of 130000 doctors, 45000 being primary care physicians. The recent Supreme Court ruling that upheld of healthcare reform exacerbates this crisis. More people with insurance equates to more people who want and seek medical attention. We have outlined two major factors responsible: Debt (overall medical school debt and reimbursement of that debt through salary) and Burden (infinite knowledge expectations, social aid support that is beyond medical expertise, and the pressed allotted time per patient).
