Iceland’s Capitol has a new Libertarian Mayor

Boris Johnson, Mayor of London, routinely refers to himself as a "libertarian." Now another major European city is confirmed to have a libertarian Mayor.

From the Icedland Review on-line, June 6:

When icelandreview.com called the Best party a “joke party” earlier this spring a spokesman for the party complained. However, the party seems to be very hard to define on old fashioned political scales. Nobody can deny that party leader, Jón Gnarr, is a comedian, and one of the most popular in Iceland.

He is also a member of the Libertarian Society in Iceland according to an article in Morgunbladid. The party campaigned for putting a polar bear in the domestic zoo in Reykjavík. It also said that it would do “all sorts of things” for “wretched” people and a drug free Althingi (Iceland's Parliament) by 2020.

See Gnarr's campaign video "Simply the Best," at our sister site WorldwideLiberty.

The Libertarian Society website features videos of Margaret Thatcher, Milton Friedman, Penn Jilete, and Peter Schiff, many translated into Icelandic.
