The Tea Party movement is an American political movement that advocates strict adherence to the United States Constitution, reducing US government spending, taxes, the federal budget deficit, and paying down the US National debt. The movement is partly conservative, partly libertarian, and partly populist. The movement has sponsored protests and supported political candidates since 2009. Michelle Moore is the Executive Director and a founding member of the St. Louis Tea Party Coalition. Michelle has been active in the Tea Party movement since February 2009. On 2-19-09, Rick Santelli, the CNBC business commentator, spent five minutes rebutting the idea of government intervention in the mortgage market. Mr. Santelli went on to say, "we are thinking about having a Tea Party in Chicago in July." From that comment, a national protest movement began.
