The state of Nevada has allowed the reopening of Casinos since June 4. That is a few months after casinos in the state were forced to temporarily close because of the pandemic. The first few places to reopen since then are MGM hotels like Bellagio, New York-New York, and the MGM Grand.

Bloomberg has recently released a report that the casino revenue in the Las Vegas Strip fell 39 percent to 330.1 million US dollars in July from a year ago. The total casino revenue of the state tumbled 26 percent to $756.8 million. This just shows that after the first full month of the reopening of the casinos in the state, Las Vegas is struggling to get customers and tourists once again.

According to Bloomberg, the challenge that the state is encountering relies on aviation encounters. People are hesitant to travel long distances if its not necessary. Recently, MGM Resorts The Mirage was also opened to the public for the first time after its five-month closure. Some people happily awaited its reopening and they even clapped as soon as its doors reopened. However, according to some visitors, things are simply not the same.

As soon as the guests enter The Mirage, they immediately see Plexiglas barriers that separate the staff from the guests on the check-in area. Temperature checks are also conducted. When it comes to the casino floors, there are also Plexiglas barriers on the gaming tables. Signs that encourage social distancing can also be found all over the casino.

Not all slot machines are also available to be played with as every other machine is only powered to make sure that adequate distance is in place between the customers or the players.

Reno Gazette-Journal interviewed some of the visitors at The Mirage. They were able to talk to Karen Onedo, a 52-year-old pharmaceutical professional. She said, "Things have changed a lot," she said. "It's been a lot quieter. I'm a little disappointed there aren't any shows.

"They need to come back. Vegas can't be the same without the shows, Karens husband who was also with her as they play a slot machine game added.

The Mirage has been around since 1989 and it never closed until this year because of the pandemic. Niklas Rytterstrom, The Mirages president, said that getting back to work will be a process as the propertys amenities begin to be rolled out.

Rytterstrom said, Over the upcoming days and weeks and months were slowly going to roll as we see the demand coming, and obviously, some of it depends on some of the government regulations. Its Las Vegas, this is such a unique experience, it doesnt matter where you are in the world, there is no place like Las Vegas.

Currently, The Mirage opened its attractions like the Dolphin Habitat, Siegfried & Roys Secret Garden, and the nightly volcano show.

The lack of live shows could also be why regular Las Vegas casino players or goers are still not coming back to the casinos. Live entertainment is still dull at the moment because gatherings with more than 50 people are still not allowed within the state. These live shows make Las Vegas the place to be and the ultimate hotspot for many people, and without them, Las Vegas is simply not the same.

While many casinos have already reopened in Las Vegas, there are still some properties that remain closed. The Stations Texas Station, Fiesta Henderson, Fiesta Rancho, and the off-Strip Palms are still closed and according to the CEO of the Red Rock Resorts, the parent company of Station Casinos, they are still uncertain about reopening these places.
