Power disconnected to 41 illegal gambling outlets in Sibu, Dalat – The Star Online

SIBU: Power supply has been disconnected to 41 illegal online gambling premises 37 in Sibu and four in Dalat in a massive crackdown.

Sibu OCPD Asst Comm Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said a combined operation involving police and Sesco (Syarikat Sesco Berhad) was conducted from 1pm to 4.30pm on Thursday (Sept 10) to disconnect electricity supply to these illegal gambling premises.

The team included an assistant superintendent of police, two inspectors and 10 policemen. Joining them were seven technicians from SEB.

"All of these premises had been issued notices on the disconnection," he said.

ACP Stanley said the process of cutting off electricity supply was smooth. It was carried out under Section 21A of the Common Gambling House Act 1953.

Mukah OCPD Deputy Supt Jimmy Panyau said the successful operation in the four premises in Dalat, Stapang, and Oya area meant they could no longer continue illegal online gambling activities.

"We will continue with the operation until such activity is wiped out from the district," he assured.

He also welcomed information from the public on any illegal online gambling activity for the police to act on.
