Kansspelautoriteit (KSA), the Netherlands gambling regulator, hasreleased a market notice claiming that COVID-19 gambling ads would not be accepted.

The KSA said it took 14 direct steps during national lockdown against unlicensed online operators advertising Corona-Free Gambling Messages.

KSA Chairman Ren Jansen said the regulatory agency would apply the heaviest penalties to delinquent operators, marking their unlawful marketing activities as completely objectionablebehaviour.

While the Dutch government prepares to open its initial licencing window on 1 January 2021, the KSA released its notice, screening online gambling incumbents seeking to enter the controlled Netherlands online gambling marketplace from 1 July 2021 according to the Remote Gambling Act laws.

Jansen reiterated the KSAs prior notice to the applicants that the operators past conduct and actions would be a key condition under which the governing body approves the operators.

The final approval of the Remote Gambling Act was transmitted to the European Commission (EU) in July, which would review the law in accordance with European-wide industry practises and fair market competition regulations.
