Workington Comets owner Laura Morgan says her side are determined to stamp their authority on the Premier League from an early stage this season.

Comets are one of the bookmakers favourites to clinch the Premier League and the riders are beginning to live up to expectations following two consecutive home wins.

Comets breezed through a potentially difficult opening Premier League fixture last Saturday by beating Peterborough Panthers 52-40 at Derwent Park, with all seven riders impressing.

Workington host Somerset Rebels in the Premier League Knockout Cup tonight (7pm) and then face a trip to Newcastle in the league tomorrow (6.30pm).

Morgan said: We are all determined to stamp our authority early in the season. Im expecting the riders to really get going if the Peterborough match is anything to go by.

Workington have already faced Newcastle Diamonds twice after clinching the Ian Thomas Shield 77-73 on aggregate, despite losing the away leg 46-44.

An interesting sub-plot in tonights fixture will see former Comet Charles Wright in Rebels Kevlar and ex-Somerset star Josh Grajczonek riding for Workington.

But Comets will be without two riders for tonights clash. Ricky Wells and Ashley Morris will both be riding for their parent club Wolverhampton, but the pair will return for tomorrows meeting with Newcastle.
