Emirati Culture and Heritage Acknowledged at prestigious World Travel Awards

You can also take the public bus if you are on a budget. You can either take a Tarlac-bound bus and stop at the Capas Public Market, or buy a ticket with any bus line that has routes to Baguio, Ilocos, or Pangasinan. These will pass by Sta. Juliana in Capas, Tarlac.

From Capas, take a jeepney or a tricycle and ride to Sta. Juliana. From there, you will have to pay the environmental fee at the tourism office and book a 44 to take you closer to the mountain. The adventure starts the moment you leave the tourism office!

Wed planned a celebration of all things Travel and on Thursday of last week at the Parmelia Hilton Perth, the inaugural Travel Lounge was all wed hoped for and more.

A vibrant and vital audience of 140, seven guest panellists and the Travel team editor Stephen Scourfield and writers Gemma Nisbet and myself shared experiences of the world over a delicious three-course dinner with wines from Hay Shed Hill. All evening, new friends chatted like old, and the Argyle Ballroom felt more like our lounge room.

Stephen and Gemma set the scene, sharing adventures from out on the road, and dancer and choreographer Floeur Alder brought it all home with an elegant interpretation of Beautiful Witness, written and read by Stephen.

In-between, Lianne Reid (RAC Travel), Jodie Everett (Mobile Travel Agents), Helen Power (Travel Directors) and April Brandis (Flight Centre) took us from the African savannah to Hawaii by way of KL shopping malls and the Trans-Siberian railway, with information and a fair dose of good humour on the touring panel, hosted by myself.

More laughs and great advice followed as we sailed the world in the cruising panel, again hosted by me, with Barry Downs (Bicton Travel), Jan Welch (Sorrento Quay Travel and Cruise Centre) and Len Pasalich (Cathie Rice Travel).

More than one million Australians will cruise the worlds oceans and rivers this year and they already have plenty of choice in both ships and destinations. And the hot tips from our guests showed that the wide range available to cruisers is set to become more impressive.

Barry looked forward to a Mediterranean cruise with his children next year on a new ship, Carnival Vista, which he said will be especially suited to families. In Australian waters, he nominated Carnival Spirit as a good value-for-money ship for families considering their first cruise.

Jan previewed Regent Seven Seas Explorer, due to sail next year and touted as one of the most luxurious ships to be launched, and Len gave great insight into small-ship cruising along the Croatian coast the birthplace of his parents.

Amid it all, the room pulsed with conversations of the world: climbing in New Zealand here, horseriding in the Snowy Mountains over there, one table sharing memories of walking the Amalfi Coast, plans hatched at another to tackle the Camino and to cruise the Irrawaddy.

The Cheapest Times To Fly To New York City

Millions of people from all over the world travel to New York City each year to experience the unique culture, an into-the-wee-hours night scene rich in fine dining, music and Broadway shows, and, of course, the citys many eminent landmarks, from Times Square, the Freedom Tower and the Statue of Liberty to the Metropolitan Museum of Art (the Met) and the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA).

A recently-released study, the MasterCard 2014 Global Destination Cities Index, ranked global cities based on their total number of overnight international visitors. The Big Apple, which hosted 11.81 million overnight international visitors last year, ranked sixth, surpassed only by Dubai (11.95 million visitors), Singapore (12.47 million), Paris (15.57 million), Bangkok (16.42 million) and London (18.69 million) the winner. Despite coming in at number six for total visitors, NYC took the number two spot in terms of visitor spending, which is estimated to be $18.57 billion in 2014, behind only London, which had $19.27 billion in visitor spending.

Although visitors spend a lot of money once they arrive in New York, the cost of just getting there from abroad can quickly test any vacationers budget. Fortunately, its possible to save money on flights by traveling during certain times of the year. Certain days of the week may also be cheaper but not always the ones you expect. Here, we show you the cheapest times to travel on three of the busiest air-travel routes into NYC: London, Paris and Frankfurt.

According to travel search engine skyscanner.com, the cheapest months to travel from London to New York are March, November, December (except for the holiday week), January and February. The most expensive months are July and August.

March airfares shown on Google Flights, for example, are just under $600 for most of the month and rise modestly to about $650 for most of April and May. At the end of June, however, airfares start to climb closer to $900. By the peak season July and August you can expect to pay more than $1,000. Fall fares are similar to those in the spring, hovering in the $600 to $700 range. On some days, you might be able to find flights under $600.

Skyscanner.com shows similar trends out of Paris. The cheapest months to travel are March, early April, October, November and during the winter months (except over the holidays). As from London, the most expensive times to fly are July and August.

A peek at fares on Google Flights show fares range between $450 and $550 for most days during March and April. By late April, prices start to rise ahead of the expensive summer months, with fares of about $650. By late June, travelers can expect to pay closer to $900, and fares remain there for the rest of summer. Prices drop off at by end of August, and fares for September, October and November settle back to the $550 to $650 range.

Frankfurt has similar fare trends, as well, according to Skyscanner.com. Fares are cheapest during early spring, late fall and during the winter months (again, with the exception of the holidays). As from London and Paris, the most expensive time to fly is during the summer months, particularly July and August.

A quick search on Google Flights shows fares are about $550 to $650 for much of spring, even heading into late June and early July. By the second week of July, however, prices spike to a little under $900, and remain there until mid August. Fall fares are similar to those of the spring, and settle back to the $550 to $700 range, with a small peak in prices for the winter holiday season.

Keep in mind that airfares fluctuate constantly changing day by day, and even minute by minute and you may not be able to reproduce these exact results. Supply and demand, fuel prices, holidays and even large events can all affect ticket prices.
