Geoffrey Boycott pranked on TMS by Jonathan Agnew over 100th … – Metro

Geoffrey Boycottwas the butt of the joke (Getty)

Geoffrey Boycott was the target of an elaborate prank on Test Match Special on Monday that left him done like a kipper.

While commentating on the England v South Africa Test series, co-presenter Jonathan Agnew claimed he had just been handed a press release from the ICC.

Crickets governing body had taken a decision to downgrade a match involving a Rest of the World team in which Boycott had been involved, stripping it of first class status.

As the information was digested, it was pointed out that former England batsman Boycott had scored a century during the contest.

The knock-on effect was that Boycotts famous 100th first class century achieved in front of his home crowd at Headingley in 1977 was actually his 99th. His real 100th ton was scored inFaisalabad.

During the exchange Boycott became increasingly worked up, labelling the decision ridiculous and the result of politics.

To say its not first class is a nonsense, he said, before adding: Im not bothered, I just think its daft.

See how it unfolded below

With the 40th anniversary of the Headingley century coming around on 11 August, Agnew asked Boycott if he had anything planned to mark the occasion.

Were having a do at our house, he said. Were not cancelling it! Were celebrating it because its nonsense. You cant go changing history like that!

Agnew then pointed out that he himself had been invited to the event, but with it now being to celebrate his 99th century he had been asked along under false pretenses.

Boycott declared: Its a complete mess!

To which Agnew replied: Its also a complete wind-up Geoffrey!

With everyone in the studio audibly laughing, it dawned on Boycott he had been duped.

Is that right! You muppet! Its never! Agnew Ill get you for that, said the Yorkshireman.

Well youve done me a few times but thats the biggest one! Youve done me easy havent you, like a kipper!

Its not difficult, Agnew said before congratulating everyone in on the prank: Good work lads, good team-work.

Targeted Microwave Solutions Inc. (TMS.V)’s Technicals Placed in the Limelight – Financial Newsweek

Targeted Microwave Solutions Inc. (TMS.V) shares are on chartists watch as the stock is edging above the MACD Histogram zero line. Current levels place the share price around0.045, while the MACD indicates a bullish trend.

The MACD-Histogram is an indicator of an indicator. In fact, MACD is also an indicator of an indicator. This means that the MACD-Histogram is four steps removed from the price of the underlying security. In other words, it is the fourth derivative of price.

The base for this indicator is the securitys price. It takes four steps to get from the actual price to the MACD-Histogram. Chartists should keep this in mind when analyzing the MACD-Histogram. It is an indicator of an indicator. Therefore, it is designed to anticipate signals in MACD, which in turn is designed to identify changes in the price momentum of the underlying security.

Turning to some additional key metrics, the 14-day ADX for Targeted Microwave Solutions Inc. (TMS.V) is 42.84. Generally speaking, an ADX value from 0-25 would indicate an absent or weak trend. A value of 25-50 would indicate a strong trend. A value of 50-75 would signal a very strong trend, and a value of 75-100 would indicate an extremely strong trend. The Average Directional Index or ADX is a technical analysis indicator used to describe if a market is trending or not trending. The ADX alone measures trend strength but not direction. Using the ADX with the Plus Directional Indicator (+DI) and Minus Directional Indicator (-DI) may help determine the direction of the trend as well as the overall momentum. Many traders will use the ADX alongside other indicators in order to help spot proper trading entry/exit points.

Targeted Microwave Solutions Inc. (TMS.V) presently has a 14-day Commodity Channel Index (CCI) of -38.89. Typically, the CCI oscillates above and below a zero line. Normal oscillations tend to stay in the range of -100 to +100. A CCI reading of +100 may represent overbought conditions, while readings near -100 may indicate oversold territory. Although the CCI indicator was developed for commodities, it has become a popular tool for equity evaluation as well. The Relative Strength Index (RSI) is a momentum oscillator that measures the speed and change of stock price movements. The RSI was developed by J. Welles Wilder, and it oscillates between 0 and 100. Generally, the RSI is considered to be oversold when it falls below 30 and overbought when it heads above 70. RSI can be used to detect general trends as well as finding divergences and failure swings. The 14-day RSI is currently at 32.61, the 7-day stands at 33.17, and the 3-day is sitting at 22.36.

Taking a peek at some Moving Averages, the 200-day is at 0.28, and the 50-day is 0.10. Dedicated investors may be looking to employ another tool for doing technical stock analysis. The Williams Percent Range or Williams %R is a technical indicator that was designed to measure overbought and oversold market conditions. The Williams %R indicator helps show the relative situation of the current price close to the period being observed. Targeted Microwave Solutions Inc. (TMS.V)s Williams Percent Range or 14 day Williams %R presently is at -75.00. In general, if the reading goes above -20, the stock may be considered to be overbought. Alternately, if the indicator goes under -80, this may show the stock as being oversold.

The closing price represents the final price that a stock is traded for on a trading day. Its the most up-to-date valuation until trading begins again on the next day. However, most financial instruments are traded after hours, which means that the the closing price of a stock might not match the after-hours price. Regardless, closing prices are a useful tool that investors use to quantify changes in stock prices over time. The closing prices are compared day-by-day to look for trends and can measure market sentiment for any security over the course of a trading day.

Stock exchanges work according to the invisible hand of supply and demand, which determines the price where stocks are bought and sold. No trade can occur until someone is willing to sell a stock at a price that another is willing to buy it at. When there are more buyers than sellers, the stock price will rise because of the increased demand. Conversely, if more individuals are selling a stock, the price will decrease.

On any given trading day, supply and demand fluctuates back-and-forth because the attractiveness of a commoditys price rises and falls. Because of these fluctuations, the closing and opening prices are not necessarily identical. A number of factors can affect the attractiveness of a stock in the hours between the closing bell and the next days opening bell. For example, if there is good news like a positive earnings announcement, the demand for a stock may increase, raising the price from the previous days close. It follows that bad news will negatively affect price.

EDAP TMS S.A. (NASDAQ:EDAP)s RSI (Relative Strength Index) is 51.24. RSI is a technical indicator of price momentum, comparing the size of recent gains to the size of recent losses and establishes oversold and overbought positions.

Brain Stimulation Techniques Being Studied as Possible MS Treatments – Healthline

Two different types of brain stimulation therapy are being tested to help relieve a number of MS-related symptoms such as leg spasticity and stress.

Different types of brain stimulation are being tested, and also used, for the treatment of many multiple sclerosis symptoms.

Two noninvasive brain stimulation procedures are showing potential and success in helping people with multiple sclerosis (MS) live better lives.

One type is called Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), and the other is called Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation (tDCS).

These two brain stimulation methods are different, yet both are finding their ways into MS research.

In TMS, a large machine is used to create a magnetic field that introduces electric current into of the brain. The procedure is performed in a clinic by a lab technician.

Between the two therapies, TMS is considered stronger and can make electrons fire. tDCS is not as strong and only encourages electrons to fire.

TMS has been tested on a variety of MS-related symptoms over the years.

These include fatigue, mood and attention, chronic pain, and oxidative stress. TMS is also used for moderating the blood brain barrier, which has also been found to be of clinical significance in the treatment of several autoimmune diseases.

TMS was also found to be helpful in both MS-related dexterity issues and dysphagia, which is the inability to think or say the proper word during a conversation, a common symptom of MS.

Now there are studies looking at TMS as an aid for spasticity in people with MS.

There is also a newer form of TMS, Intermittent Theta Burst Stimulation (ITBS), that according to a small study, could be helpful in treating MS-related spasticity in the legs.

The other type of brain stimulation gaining traction in the MS arena is tDCS.

tDCS delivers electrical stimulation directly to the brain through electrodes placed on scalp, which target specific regions of the brain.

This procedure has been shown to successfully treat fatigue in adults with MS, as well as improve cognitive functioning in healthy controls and study participants with a range of medical disorders.

Cognitive impairment in MS remains a major treatment challenge, and researchers running a new trial out of New York University (NYU) Langone Medical Center are looking to see how treatment with tDCS could help.

Leigh Charvet, PhD, the studys principal investigator and an associate professor in the Department of Neurology at NYU, told Healthline that this study is putting MS at the forefront.

She noted that MS treatments are often a byproduct of research done on other illnesses. However, this study is centered on MS and helping as many patients as possible.

The goal of this study is to create a program that is accessible and sustainable for MS patients, meaning that it is easy to do and available in the comfort of ones own home.

She emphasized that more sessions seem to be leading to better results.

The tDCS device worked best when paired with cognitive training at home via telerehabilitation, Charvet explained.

Charvet also led a successful study published earlier this year about the positive results of telerehabilitation on cognitive issues. She said she was very excited about fatigue levels going down for patients as a result of her current trial, suggesting this could help many of those experiencing disabling MS-related fatigue.

But Charvet cautioned, Its still in an early stage with a lot to be learned.

Funded by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, the feasibility study was designed to reach as many people with MS in as many homes as possible with the purpose of using a brain stimulation device along with telemedicine to help them manage and improve symptoms such as fatigue and cognitive issues.

This feasibility study will test a sham device vs. the actual device. The clinical trial is currently seeking applicants.

In addition, data is still being collected for another clinical trial out of the University of Belgrade looking at rTMS for aiding lower limb spasticity in MS patients.

Other brain stimulation therapies similar to tDCS are also being evaluated.

Transcranial Alternating Current Stimulation (tACS) differs in how the electrical current is delivered. It was cleared by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 2008 for depression and other conditions such as insomnia and anxiety.

These devices are available at clinics across the country. This process continues to show successful testing with the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

Kelly Roman, co-founder of Fisher Wallace, a company that provides brain stimulation devices, told Healthline that of their 25,000 active customers, approximately 80 percent find success with their depression and 20 percent with insomnia issues.

While MS is not a focus for Fisher Wallace, the success of their products on MS-type symptoms could provide relief for some patients.

MACD News: Taking a Closer Look at Edap Tms Sa ADR (EDAP) – Nelson Research

Moving average convergence divergence (MACD) is a trend-following momentum indicator that helps illustrate a relationship between two differing moving averages. MACD is calculated by subtracting the twenty-six-day exponential moving average (EMA) from the twelve-day EMA. A signal line, the nine-day EMA of the MACD, is then plotted atop the MACD, acting as a trigger for both buy and sell signals. The first method to interpret MACD is Crossovers. When the MACD falls underneath the signal line, it is bearish, meaning that it is probably the right time to sell. When the MACD goes above the signal line, the indicator is bullish, meaning that the price of the asset is most likely going to experience upward momentum swing. The second method is Divergence. When the price of the security diverges from the MACD, it signals the end of the current price trend. Finally, there is the Dramatic Rise, where the MACD experiences a dramatic rise, the signal indicates overbought status and could possibly soon return to more normal levels.

The 9-day difference between a short-term and long-term moving average. A value above 0 indicates a bullish signal while a value below 0 interprets as a bearish signal. Edap Tms Sa ADR (EDAP)s 9-Day MACD is0.08 and its 14-Day MACD is 0.07.

Its 20-Day MACD is 0.07, 50-Day MACD is0.13 and, finally, its 100-Day MACD is 0.42.

The Open is the start of trading on a securities exchange. The open indicates the start of an official business day for an exchange, meaning that transactions may begin for the day. The different exchanges have different opening times. Edap Tms Sa ADR (EDAP) opened at $3.21. Edap Tms Sa ADR (EDAP)s high, highest trade price for the day, was $3.35.

Edap Tms Sa ADR (EDAP)s lowest trade price for the day was $3.11. Edap Tms Sa ADR (EDAP)s last trade price was $3.33.

Change is the difference between the current price and the previous days settlement price. Change is the basis for describing and measuring data over a specific period of time. A negative change indicates declining performance while a positive change indicates an improved performance. Interpretation change can be left to the analyst. The formula for finding change is by subtracting the previous time period from the most recent time period.

If a company trades at $20 at the end of the first quarter and $40 at the end of the second quarter, the change $40 minus $20, or $20. Here we find the change to be positive, but by how much? The price went up from $20 to $40, so it doubled. In this example, the companys stock price grew 100% in the first quarter. Investors like change. Change allows investors to make a profit. In volatile markets, there are many opportunities for investors to make up for losses. Prices are based on the change in price of assets. Value is based on changing prices. Calls make a bet that the price of the asset will increase, while puts bet that the price of the asset will go decrease. More volatility means that there is more likely a chance for investors to make a profit. Edap Tms Sa ADR (EDAP)s share price changed $0.08, a percentage of +2.46%%.

Volume is the number of shares traded specific period of time. Every buyer has a seller, and each transaction adds to the total count of the volume. When a buyer and a seller agree on a transaction at a certain price, it is considered to be one transaction.

For example, if only ten transactions occur in a trading day, the volume for the day is ten. Volume is used to measure the relative worth of a market move. When the markets make a strong price movement, the strength of that movement depends on the volume over that period.

The higher the volume means the more significant the move. Volume levels give clues about where to find the best entry and exit points. Edap Tms Sa ADR (EDAP) experienced a volume of 104000.

Volume is an important measure of strength for traders and technical analysts because volume is the number of contracts traded. The market needs to produce a buyer and a seller for any trade to occur. The market price is when buyers and sellers meet.

When buyers and sellers become very active at a certain price, this means that there is high volume. Bar charts are used to quickly determine the level of volume and identify trends in volume.

Barchart Opinions show investors what a variety of popular trading systems are suggesting. These Opinions take up to 2 years worth of historical data and runs the prices through thirteen technical indicators. After each calculation, a buy, sell or hold value for each study is assigned, depending on where the price is in reference to the interpretation of the study.

Todays opinion, the overall signal based on where the price lies in reference to the common interpretation of all 13 studies, for Edap Tms Sa ADR (EDAP) is 56% Buy.

Placing the Spotlight on Targeted Microwave Solutions Inc. (TMS.V): Technical Stock Update – Financial Newsweek

Targeted Microwave Solutions Inc. (TMS.V) shares are moving today onvolatility10.00% or $0.005 from the open.TheTSXV listed companysaw a recent bid of0.055 and62000shares have traded hands in the session.

Stock market investing can sometimes cause investors heads to spin. Following stocks on a daily basis, it is plain to see the amount of coverage that follows certain companies. This non-stop barrage of information may eventually become overwhelming for the novice investor. Filtering through all the data may involve taking a look at a company or stock from multiple angles. There are many investors out there that preach strictly following fundamental data. There are others that swear by the technical analysis. Many investors will opt to employ a research strategy that involves pieces of the two approaches. Knowing every little detail about a company may not be overly necessary, but it may help provide a bit more direction when navigating the stock market maze. Investors who put in the time to study all the fundamentals may want to also start watching the charts on stock that they are thinking about adding to the portfolio. Making sure that no stone is left unturned when examining a stock may end up being the difference between a big winner and a big loser.

Now letstake a look at how the fundamentals are stacking up for Targeted Microwave Solutions Inc. (TMS.V). Fundamental analysis takes into consideration market, industry and stock conditions to help determine if the shares are correctly valued. Targeted Microwave Solutions Inc. currently has a yearly EPS of -0.11. This number is derived from the total net income divided by shares outstanding. In other words, EPS reveals how profitable a company is on a share owner basis.

Another key indicator that can help investors determine if a stock might be a quality investment is the Return on Equity or ROE. Targeted Microwave Solutions Inc. (TMS.V) currently has Return on Equity of -124.73. ROE is a ratio that measures profits generated from the investments received from shareholders. In other words, the ratio reveals how effective the firm is at turning shareholder investment into company profits. A company with high ROE typically reflects well on management and how well a company is run at a high level. A firm with a lower ROE might encourage potential investors to dig further to see why profits arent being generated from shareholder money.

Another ratio we can look at is the Return on Invested Capital or more commonly referred to as ROIC. Targeted Microwave Solutions Inc. (TMS.V) has a current ROIC of -108.54. ROIC is calculated by dividing Net Income Dividends by Total Capital Invested.

Similar to ROE, ROIC measures how effectively company management is using invested capital to generate company income. A high ROIC number typically reflects positively on company management while a low number typically reflects the opposite.

Turning to Return on Assets or ROA, Targeted Microwave Solutions Inc. (TMS.V) has a current ROA of -95.05. This is a profitability ratio that measures net income generated from total company assets during a given period. This ratio reveals how quick a company can turn its assets into profits. In other words, the ratio provides insight into the profitability of a firms assets. The ratio is calculated by dividing total net income by the average total assets. A higher ROA compared to peers in the same industry, would suggest that company management is able to effectively generate profits from their assets. Similar to the other ratios, a lower number might raise red flags about managements ability when compared to other companies in a similar sector.

Investors may be taking a closer look stock market trends as we move into the second half of the year. Investors often have to grapple with the timing of selling a stock. After all the research is done and the portfolio is rounded out, the time will eventually come when decisions need to be made about whether to hold a winner or sell to lock up some profits. Often times, investors will hold on to a certain stock for much too long letting profits erode. Thinking that a hot stock will keep going higher and higher, may lead to lost profits further down the road. On the flip side, investors may become emotionally attached to a stock and not be able to part ways when the time has come. Avoiding the trap of waiting for a stock to bounce back and just break even can lead to the undoing of the portfolio. The belief that a particular stock will definitely come back to the buying level may leave investors out in the cold. Being able to keep the emotions in check and stay focused on the pertinent data, may help the stock portfolio thrive into the future.

Dementia symptoms and Alzheimer’s disease could be dignosed with new procedure – Express.co.uk

GETTY

However, differentiating between Alzheimers disease and frontotemporal dementia can be challenging, expert have revealed.

Now a study has revealed a procedure called transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) could help determine which dementia a patient is suffering from.

It can even help spot signs of Alzheimers disease.

TMS therapy is carried out with a large electromagnetic coil place against the scalp, which carries electrical currents which stimulate nerve cells.

Frontotemporal dementia is now thought to make up 10 to 15 per cent dementia cases.

It is often diagnosed as a psychiatric problem, Alzheimers disease or Parkinsons because it causes behaviour changes and language issues.

There is no cure for frontotemporal dementia, but diagnosing the disease could help patients manage symptoms and avoid unnecessary treatment.

Making the correct diagnosis can be difficult, said study author Barbara Borroni, MD, of the University of Brescia in Brescia, Italy.

Current methods can be expensive brain scans or invasive lumbar punctures involving a needle inserted in the spine, so its exciting that we may be able to make the diagnosis quickly and easily with this non-invasive procedure.

GETTY

Alzheimer's and frontotemporal dementia could be differentiated

Using TMS, researchers were able to measure the brains ability to conduct electrical signals among various circuits in the brain.

They found that people with Alzheimers disease mainly had problems with one type of circuit, while people with frontotemporal dementia had problems with another type of circuit.

Researchers were then able to accurately distinguish frontotemporal dementia from Alzheimers disease with 90 percent accuracy.

It also differentiated Alzheimers disease from healthy brains with 87 percent accuracy and frontotemporal dementia from healthy brains with 86 percent accuracy.

The results were almost as good when researchers tested only people with mild forms of the disease.

If our results can be replicated with larger studies, this will be very exciting, said Dr Borroni.

Doctors might soon be able to quickly and easily diagnose frontotemporal dementia with this non-invasive procedure.

This disease unfortunately cant be cured, but it can be managed especially if it is caught early.

There are types of dementia, dementia with lewy bodies, which can cause memory problems and vascular dementia.

This comes after the nine risk factors for dementia were revealed.

America’s Infrastructure Remains a Topic of Spirited Debate: How Can TMS Help Users of the Nation’s Highways Avoid … – Logistics Viewpoints (blog)

Infrastructure is a topic most of us dont think about. We just expect it to work in the same way we expect the lights to come on when we flip a switch. However, there has been increasing concern by trucking companies, shippers, and even the U.S. Chamber of Commerce that the infrastructure we all count on safe roads, bridges, waterways is showing its age and in need of repair.

That is not surprising when you realize that our interstate highway system was created in the 1950s. Since that time, commercial and passenger traffic has grown exponentially, while arguably, investments and repairs have not kept pace. According to the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), Americas roads are often crowded, frequently in poor condition, chronically underfunded, and dangerous.

The ASCE recently gave our roads and bridges a score of D+ on a scale of A-F, with F being a failing grade. Their report also puts a price tag on the congestion that they say impacts every two out of five miles of Americas urban interstates $160 billion in wasted time and fuel in the calendar year 2014 alone.

For supply chain managers, the impact of our nations infrastructure is about more than a long commute to work. It is about delays that could make it harder to get products to market and more difficult to compete, as well as potential capacity issues as carriers strive to deliver just-in-time service while dealing with congestion, poor road conditions, and increased costs for fuel and labor when trucks are forced to sit in traffic.

Many groups and advocates are proposing a variety of solutions to the current and pending infrastructure crisis in America. While we may be limited in our ability to impact the governments plan for infrastructure, we can take advantage of technology to mitigate the impacts of the issue on our businesses and supply chains.

Here are the top four ways that a Transportation Management System (TMS) can help you navigate the often crowded road ahead.

Routing

One of the most common features of a TMS solution is its ability to route freight movements. If your TMS provides control tower visibility across both inbound and outbound shipments, the technology can help you find the most direct routes and eliminate empty miles. And with flexible and customizable TMS solutions, you can proactively plan around areas of gridlock. This will keep your freight moving, not stuck in traffic.

Mode optimization

With a TMS that has a single platform for all modes of transportation parcel, less-than-truckload, truckload, ocean, air, rail, and intermodal you can optimize loads. For example, several small parcels can become one less-than-truckload (LTL) shipment, or multiple LTL shipments can be consolidated into one truckload. A good TMS optimization tool will ensure that you have the ability to quickly review multiple scenarios, building in service commitments as well as past experience that you have had with specific carriers. You may experience a reduction in overall transportation spending, and with fewer, fuller trucks on the road, everyone benefits from less congestion on already crowded highways.

Fleet management

For companies that use a combination of a private fleet and outside carriers, deciding how to best utilize all of these assets can be a challenge. For example, should you move a shipment from Charlotte, NC to Miami, FL on your private fleet when the chances are the truck will return from Miami empty? If so, can you search your entire network for a backhaul opportunity? A TMS that offers fleet management solutions can help you make those types of decisions and can also help you to maximize all of your assets, with complete and current data about drivers, equipment and operations. If a driver is stuck in a traffic jam and nearing the end of their hours of service (HOS), that is information you need sooner, rather than later.

Access to capacity for backhauls

TMS solutions can also offer quick and easy access to information about available capacity, helping you to secure backhauls to offset imbalances. Some systems provide you with the ability to view all of the options available on private and public bid boards, and you can save time by using automated email messages regarding loads. Again, this will help you avoid empty miles, which add unnecessary costs to your supply chain and place even more strain on the nations roads and highways.

When it comes to infrastructure, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce sums up the issue very succinctly, Most Americans agree that our roads, bridges, mass transit systems, air, and seaports and water infrastructure are critical national assets that drive growth, jobs, and global competitiveness. What we cant seem to agree on is how to pay for badly needed maintenance and repairs.

Clearly there is not an easy or obvious solution. But, technology solutions like TMSs can help supply chain managers avoid extra costs and gain efficiency even when dodging potholes.

Targeted Microwave Solutions Inc. (TMS.V) Sees Schaff Indicator Continue To Climb – Morgan Research

Targeted Microwave Solutions Inc. (TMS.V) are in traders focus this week as the Schaff Trend Cycle indicator has trending higher consistently over the past week. Investors will be watching to see if the price level breaches the overbought signal at 75, which would suggest the strong likelihood of a near-term pullback.

Introduced in 2008 by Douglas Schaff, the conecpt of the Schaff Trend Cycle (STC) is to identify peaks and lows and predict reversals byrunning through a cycle oscillator, creating an effective indicator for entry and exit signals, when used in conjuction with additionalsignals. The STC combines an exponential moving average with slow stochastics to display a signal line that oscillates between two levels on a scale of 0 to 100.

The RSI, or Relative Strength Index is another popular oscillating indicator among traders and investors. The RSI operates in a range-bound area with values between 0 and 100. When the RSI line moves up, the stock may be experiencing strength. The opposite is the case when the RSI line is heading lower. Different time periods may be used when using the RSI indicator. The RSI may be more volatile using a shorter period of time. Many traders keep an eye on the 30 and 70 marks on the RSI scale. A move above 70 is widely considered to show the stock as overbought, and a move below 30 would indicate that the stock may be oversold. Targeted Microwave Solutions Inc. (TMS.V) has a 14-day RSI of 37.14, the 7-day is at 46.33, and the 3-day is resting at 57.76.

When getting into the markets, most investors realize that riskier stocks may have an increased potential for higher returns. If investors decide to take a chance on some of these stocks, they may want to employ some standard techniques to help manage that risk. This may involve creating a diversified stock portfolio. Mixing up the portfolio with stocks from different sectors, market caps, and growth potential, may be the right move. In general, the goal is to maximize returns in accordance with the individuals specific risk profile. It should be obvious that no matter how well rounded the portfolio is, there are always risks in the equity markets. Having a sound plan before investing can help ease the burden of knowing that markets can sometimes do crazy things without any rhyme or reason.

Targeted Microwave Solutions Inc. (TMS.V) currently has a 14-day Commodity Channel Index (CCI) of 32.56. Active investors may choose to use this technical indicator as a stock evaluation tool. Used as a coincident indicator, the CCI reading above +100 would reflect strong price action which may signal an uptrend. On the flip side, a reading below -100 may signal a downtrend reflecting weak price action. Using the CCI as a leading indicator, technical analysts may use a +100 reading as an overbought signal and a -100 reading as an oversold indicator, suggesting a trend reversal.

Shares of Targeted Microwave Solutions Inc. (TMS.V) have a 200-day moving average of 0.28. The 50-day is 0.11, and the 7-day is sitting at 0.05. Using a bigger time frame to assess the moving average such as the 200-day, may help block out the noise and chaos that is often caused by daily price fluctuations. In some cases, MAs may be used as strong reference points for spotting support and resistance levels.

The Average Directional Index or ADX is technical analysis indicator used to describe if a market is trending or not trending. Currently, the 14-day ADX for Targeted Microwave Solutions Inc. (TMS.V) is 43.85. Generally speaking, an ADX value from 0-25 would indicate an absent or weak trend. A value of 25-50 would indicate a strong trend. A value of 50-75 would signal a very strong trend, and a value of 75-100 would indicate an extremely strong trend. The Williams Percent Range or Williams %R is another technical indicator that may be useful for traders and investors.

The Williams %R is designed to provide a general sense of when the equity might have reached an extreme and be primed for a reversal. As a general observance, the more overbought or oversold the reading displays, the more likely a reversal may take place. The 14 day Williams %R for Targeted Microwave Solutions Inc. (TMS.V) is noted at -25.00. Many consider the equity oversold if the reading is below -80 and overbought if the indicator is between 0 and -20.

Treatment That ‘Rewires’ the Brain Could Be Used for Depression – Healthline

An FDA-approved therapy using magnetic stimulation on the brain can be given to people who havent responded well to antidepressants.

When it comes to treating depression, its tough to know what will work for specific people who have the condition.

Antidepressants are commonly prescribed, but between 10 percent and 30 percent of people with major depression who take the medications fail to show improvement.

But now, a new treatment that involves the use of magnetic stimulation to "rewire" parts of the brain has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

It has proven effective in treating people with depression and could potentially be used in other applications, as well.

This treatment, called transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), targets specific parts of the brain in a noninvasive way.

The way that we believe TMS works is as a brain network treatment, Dr. Andrew Leuchter, a senior research scientist at the Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior, and director of the neuromodulation division at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) Health, told Healthline.

As opposed to medications, which kind of work from the bottom up, they work at the level of the nerve cell, and then spread from there, Leuchter said. TMS picks specific nodes of a brain network and introduces energy into those.

The number of clinics offering TMS is growing as the treatment offers an alternative for people who havent responded to antidepressants.

Leuchter says that TMS has been around as a diagnostic and research tool since the mid-1980s.

It was in the 90s that people began to realize there are many ways to stimulate the brain, he said. Of course, electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) had been around forever. But people thought if you can use electricity to stimulate the brain, how about using electromagnetic energy? Pulsing the brain with an electromagnet to try to achieve the same result, but with a much better side effect profile. People began to experiment with it, discover that, in fact, you can provide very focal brain stimulation that seemed to relieve the symptoms of depression without nearly the side effects of ECT. It was studied for a number of years, and approved by the FDA in 2009.

A major advantage to TMS when compared with antidepressants is its relative lack of side effects.

A lot of times, antidepressant medications are used for these different conditions, and they can be helpful, said Leuchter. The problem is, with medication youre commonly dealing with side effects. Youre taking a medication and distributing it throughout the bloodstream, throughout the body. You end up, therefore, with effects on virtually every organ system and in many instances the side effects can be problematic nausea, weight gain, headache, dizziness, those kinds of things.

The nice thing about TMS as a treatment is that you are really applying it directly to a specific part of the brain. It has very, very few side effects. Therefore, we are able to achieve a therapeutic effect for the patient with a much more favorable side effect profile, by targeting the treatment to the precise brain area that we need to hit in order to get the patient some benefit.

Eight years after its approval by the FDA for depression, TMS is available in every major metropolitan area in the United States.

Leuchter estimated there are currently between 800 and 1,000 TMS devices being used in practices across the country.

[TMS devices] are still not as widespread as we would like them to be, in order for everybody to have access, says Leuchter. The good news in terms of access is that insurance companies are now pretty routinely covering TMS treatment for depression. So its something that is more and more widely successful, both because the devices are out there in the community, and because its a covered benefit under a lot of insurance plans, including Medicare.

For those without health benefits, however, the cost can be significant.

While out-of-pocket costs vary by geographic region, a 6- to 9-week treatment of TMS typically costs somewhere in the range of $14,000.

The out-of-pocket costs for uninsured Americans may be higher than the cost of antidepressant medications, but Leuchter says there are a few caveats.

It is important to bear in mind that TMS generally is performed in patients who have suffered for years with unrelenting depression and have failed to benefit from multiple courses of medication treatment and psychotherapy, he said.

There have been a few health economics studies that have looked at the cost effectiveness of TMS treatment the cost per QALY, or quality-adjusted life year and have concluded that TMS is a very cost-effective alternative.

There are more potential applications for TMS treatment on the horizon.

TMS works for a whole variety of different conditions, said Leuchter. Anything where focal brain stimulation might be helpful. So its been used with success not just for depression, but for bipolar disorder, for obsessive-compulsive disorder, PTSD too. Weve used it with some success here at UCLA for the treatment of tinnitus thats chronic ringing of the ears. And it also is quite useful for the treatment of chronic pain conditions. So a variety of different applications are in development.

With Americans spending billions of dollars every year on antidepressants and the country in the midst of an opioid epidemic, TMS offers a possible alternative.

Were excited about treatments like TMS that actually can offer a great deal of relief for chronic pain without the side effects of opioids, said Leuchter. I think that what were going to see going forward is that there will be more and more of those brain stimulation neuromodulation methods that can help reduce pain symptoms with fewer side effects. So were very interested in exploring those avenues of research.

Being able to detach from the trade mentally can end up saving the investor more grief down the line. Holding onto a stock with the hopes of a giant turnaround can be a recipe for portfolio disaster. Being able to cut losses is just as much a part of the process as being able to cash in winners. Learning from mistakes and being able to wipe the slate clean can help the investor be better prepared for future endeavors in the markets.

Deep diving into thetechnical levels forTargeted Microwave Solutions Inc. (TMS.V), we note that the equitycurrently has a 14-day Commodity Channel Index (CCI) of 32.56.

Targeted Microwave Solutions Inc.s Williams Percent Range or 14 day Williams %R currently sits at -25.00. The Williams %R oscillates in a range from 0 to -100. A reading between 0 and -20 would point to an overbought situation. A reading from -80 to -100 would signal an oversold situation. The Williams %R was developed by Larry Williams. This is a momentum indicator that is the inverse of the Fast Stochastic Oscillator.

Currently, the 14-day ADX for Targeted Microwave Solutions Inc. (TMS.V) is sitting at 43.85. Generally speaking, an ADX value from 0-25 would indicate an absent or weak trend. A value of 25-50 would support a strong trend. A value of 50-75 would identify a very strong trend, and a value of 75-100 would lead to an extremely strong trend. ADX is used to gauge trend strength but not trend direction. Traders often add the Plus Directional Indicator (+DI) and Minus Directional Indicator (-DI) to identify the direction of a trend.

The RSI, or Relative Strength Index, is a widely used technical momentum indicator that compares price movement over time. The RSI was created by J. Welles Wilder who was striving to measure whether or not a stock was overbought or oversold. The RSI may be useful for spotting abnormal price activity and volatility. The RSI oscillates on a scale from 0 to 100. The normal reading of a stock will fall in the range of 30 to 70. A reading over 70 would indicate that the stock is overbought, and possibly overvalued. A reading under 30 may indicate that the stock is oversold, and possibly undervalued. After a recent check, the 14-day RSIforTargeted Microwave Solutions Inc. (TMS.V) is currently at 37.14, the 7-day stands at 46.33, and the 3-day is sitting at 57.76.

Transformer Monitoring Systems (TMS) Market Is Expected to Rise at a Remarkable CAGR by 2024 – Digital Journal

Transparency Market Research Report Add "Transformer Monitoring Systems (TMS) Market - Global Industry Analysis, Size, Share, Growth, Trends, and Forecast 2016 - 2024" to its database.

This press release was orginally distributed by SBWire

Albany, NY -- (SBWIRE) -- 07/24/2017 -- TMS is defined as a group of components built together in order to sense and monitor various parameters of a pole-mounted transformer or ground transformer that are vital to its functionality. This device is attached to the lines of an existing transformer with minimal effort; it remains non-intrusive to lines and its components. TMS has the capability of monitoring the transformer's voltage, current, temperature, and the phase angle. Voltage sensor consists of a plate, an op-amp, two capacitors, and four resistors. TMS is a real time mounting device that monitors a single transformer. This device paves way for a smarter grid system technology to lower electrical downtime of a power generation unit. TMS accurately and effectively reads/records valuable information about pole mounted and grounded transformers. This information is shared over the wireless connections to a central hub computer located at the transfer stations of sub-stations. It detects failure in power lines.

Transformer Monitoring Systems: Dynamics and Trends

The problems in methods for powering the device and monitoring the transformer's parameters have been overcome through the usage of induction coils. The voltage passage through the induction coils have the tendency to escalate from the permissible values due to fluctuating current. Voltage regulators are thus used to control the voltage and keep it under the permissible limits. Diodes incorporated with AP1186 standard regulators are used with a battery backup in case of power failure in order to achieve the desired results in voltage regulations. TMS is a safe and easy approach to help combat any loss in power over the lines and any power shortages through its preventive monitoring measures. TMS is kept near a high power line that emits strong electrical and magnetic fields. Power to the TMS device is critical, as voltage, current, and temperature have to be maintained under the permissible limits. Excessive voltage, current, and temperature can destroy the internal components. Sensors of the TMS read voltage and current across the line and the temperature inside the transformer. The sensors then transmit the information to logical components of the system. Wireless technology helps in passage of information to other TMS devices or to the central hub facility. Computer programing is the final last aspect of a TMS device. It helps view information about transformers received by wireless units. The program also provides sight (screen flashing animations) and hearing alerts (siren blasting through speakers).

Transformer Monitoring Systems: Segmentation

The TMS market can be segmented based on type of transformer (pole mounted transformer and ground transformer), method of powering TMS system (solar, battery powered, induction coil, and others), application (distribution transformers, power transformers, and others) and region (North America, Latin America, Europe, Asia Pacific, and Middle East & Africa).
