Buckeye PMR Low T – Low Testosterone Treatment Centers of …

Nationwide Leaders in Testosterone TherapyLow-cost testosterone replacement options

So what is Testosterone Replacement Therapy? If youre an aging man, chances are youve lost quite a bit of energy, experienced a drop in sexual potency or erectile dysfunction, put on a few extra pounds, and now you have to work even harder in the gym to maintain your natural weight. Theres a reason forthat and for most men it starts with a T. Were talking about the male hormone Testosterone.

By the time you hit 30, yourbody is already significantly behind in testosterone production. You see, by your mid-twenties, your testosterone levels begin to decline by about 1-2% a year. And, by 40, youve lost nearly half of your necessary growth hormones resulting in a common but often misunderstood condition called Andropause, Low T or Hypogonadism; precisely what we treat with various Testosterone Replacement Therapy options.

Men often mistake symptoms of andropause for a midlife crisis. Youve put on weight; your sexual desire has decreased and even worse, your sexual performance is suffering. To make yourself feel better, you may want to buy a flashy sports car, but in reality, the most likely solution to your problem is Testosterone Replacement Therapy.

Your testosterone levels have dropped resulting in increased body fat, depression, muscle loss, hair loss, and fatigue. These are not just symptoms of getting older. In fact, men as young as their twenties to thirties can experience low testosterone (Low T) symptoms. Before you seek medical treatment for depression and spend years on prescription medications, consider having your testosterone levels checked at Buckeye PMR.

Low testosterone is a serious condition that should not be ignored. In addition to the unpleasant symptoms we mentioned above, lower than normal testosterone levels have been clinically associated with an increased risk of heart disease, diabetes, and death.

Testosterone replacement therapy aids in circulation and improves blood vessel function, so its important to have enough of it to ensure healthy blood flow. There are a number of testosterone receptors in the heart, so a healthy testosterone level helps it function properly.

The additional testosterone that results from hormone replacement therapy also reduces the amount of certain unhealthy chemicals in the blood, including cholesterol, and improves a patients lipid profile, a beneficial cardiovascular effect.

Finally, the weight loss and improved physique that many men experience with hormone replacement therapy help to reduce the risk of heart disease and restore heart health.

About – Testosterone Replacement Therapy

A few years ago I started getting depressed, losing muscle, gaining fat, getting injured easier, losing my sex drive and losing motivation at work. In short, my life was falling down around me for, apparently, no reason. I wondered What the hell is wrong with me! and when I couldnt take it anymore I went to see a doctor. The general family doctor was convinced it was depression and wanted to put me on antidepressants. Having never been the depressed type, I was convinced otherwise. I researched my symptoms online and discovered that they all matched that of low testosterone. I went back to the doctor for tests and indeed my testosterone levels were that of a 65 year old man. I was 31 at the time. He referred me to an endocrinologist who ran more tests.

These further tests revealed that my testes / testicles were fine, and an MRI revealed that my pituitary was fine. Apparently the third cog in that HPTA (Hypothalamus, Pituitary, Testicular Axis) was not producing the two hormones (LSH / FSH) that would instruct the pituitary to create the hormone (GnRH), which would would instruct the testes to create the hormone testosterone in adequate levels for someone of my age.

Why my hypothalamus decided to stop working full time, Ill never know. But I do know that within days of starting testosterone replacement therapy treatment all of my problems began to disappear. It was like magic.

However well it worked for me, I always try to remember that HRT for men has its own set of problems. Among them are an increased risk of prostate cancer and heart disease. More importantly, I dont like the idea of being dependent on a drug for my manhood. It bothers me. I think this is something a lot of male HRT / TRT patients experience, but I cant be sure since I dont really know any others personally. Maybe Ill meet some after starting this website

Another thing that scares me is that one day I wont be able to get my prescription filled for one reason or another. Maybe it will be for lack of health insurance (I live in the US and Im sure youve heard about our insurance woes here), or maybe every doctor in my area will be afraid of the boogeyman steroids because theyve watched too many after-school dramas and ESPN scandals. This dependance bothers me more than anything, because I know Ill lapse into severe depression, fat gain, lethargy, and generally just be miserable if Im not taking my testosterone.

Heres something else that troubles me: My testes are fine or they were, at least. But when you introduce external sources of testosterone into the male body all natural production ceases completely as the body seeks to reach homeostasis. In the process the testes stop working, and this is why bodybuilders have grapenuts so to speak. I have secondary hypogonadism. But the treatment for this is the same as primary hypogonadism. The treatment, testosterone replacement therapy, CAUSES primary hypogonadism in men with secondary hypogonadism. Are you telling me there arent any treatments for low FSH/LH without having to mess around with other parts of my HTPA?

Dont worry if you dont know what the hell Im talking about you soon will. Just keep reading my blog and all will be revealed. Im sort of a research junkie when it comes to what Im putting in my body.

Soooo, the longer Im on this stuff, the less chance I have of recovering. But I spent three years miserable, tired, angry, depressed, with a deteriorating body before finally going on HRT, which practically got rid of all of my syptoms overnight. Ive felt like a million bucks ever since. So the idea of going back to low testosterone scares the sh*t out of me.

On the other hand, I could stay on HRT for the rest of my life, which if I live to be of average age would be even long than Ive been alive so far. Thats a long time for someone to be on HRT, and at that point I wonder what the risks would be. Has it even been studied for such a long period of time? The good news is Id have the testosterone of a 35 year old into my 60s, which would be pretty sweet if my wife doesnt get too fat (just kidding sort of). Of course, that doesnt do me much good if Im dying of prostate cancer or have a heart attack.

So this is my journey and judging by how many patients my endo says he sees everyday, I am sure Im not alone. Call it a blog, an information resource, a support center, a launching pad, whatever But Im glad you stopped by, and if youre on HRT or thinking about going on HRT I hope this site can provide some value.

Testosterone replacement therapy associated with improved urinary, sexual function – ProHealth

Reprinted with the kind permission of Life Extension.

August 23 2017.An article appearing on July 18, 2017 in theJournal of Urologydocuments improvements in sexual function, urinary function and quality of life among men who receivedtestosterone replacement therapy.

The prospective registry study involved 656 men with low testosterone levels and symptoms of testosterone deficiency, among whom 360 were regularly treated with parenteral testosterone undecanoate for up to 10 years. The remainder of the subjects, who chose not to be treated with testosterone, received biannual routine clinic visits.

The researchers, from Boston University School of Medicine and School of Public Health in collaboration with German urologists, found that men who received testosterone therapy experienced significant decreases in their International Prostate Symptom Score, post-voiding bladder volume and Aging Males Symptoms scale, which assesses health-related quality of life. The percentage of patients without erectile dysfunction significantly improved in the testosterone treated group, from 17.1% at the beginning of the study, to 74.4% of the study at the last visit. In contrast, subjects who did not receive the hormone experienced deterioration in erectile function as well as in voiding functions. Prostate specific antigen (PSA), a marker which, when elevated, is associated with an increased risk of prostate cancer, remained unchanged in both groups over the course of the study.

While there were five deaths, 8 nonfatal strokes and 8 nonfatal heart attacks over the 8-month median follow-up period in the untreated group, none of these events occurred among those who received testosterone.

Long-term testosterone therapy, in men with testosterone deficiency, was well tolerated with excellent adherence suggesting a high level of patient satisfaction, authors Karim Sultan Haider and colleagues conclude. A progressive and sustained improvement in urinary and sexual function was recorded in men receiving long-term testosterone therapy, contributing to overall improvement in quality of life.

Testosterone Replacement Therapy Can Slow Men’s COPD, Study Shows

Testosterone replacement therapy can help slow the progression of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in men, a new study shows.

Men with COPD tend to experience shortness of breath, leading physicians to prescribe them long-term steroid-based medications. While these medications help treat pulmonary symptoms, they are also associated with testosterone dysfunction.

Accordingly, previous studies have shown that men with COPD have low testosterone levels, which could lead to a worsening of the condition.

Previous studies have suggested that testosterone replacement therapy may have a positive effect on lung function in men with COPD, Jacques Baillargeon, the studys author and a professor in preventive medicine and community health at University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, said in a press release.

The study, set to be published in the journalChronic Respiratory Disease, was designed to determine whether testosterone replacement therapy (in which patients are prescribed testosterone) could help reduce the risk of hospitalization due to respiratory disease in middle-aged and older men with COPD.

Baillargeon noted that we are the first to conduct a large-scale, nationally representative study on this association.

Baillargeon and his colleagues used the Clinformatics Data Mart dataset, which comprises one of the largest commercially insured populations in the United States. They examined data from 450 men ages 40-63 with COPD who began testosterone replacement therapy between 2005 and 2014.

Researchers also used the national Medicare database to study data from 253 men age 66 and up with COPD, and who initiated testosterone replacement therapy between 2008 and 2013.

Researchers found that patients who underwent testosterone replacement therapy had a greater reduction in respiratory hospitalizations when compared to patients who did not receive the therapy.

Specifically, middle-aged testosterone replacement therapy users had a 4.2 percent greater decrease in respiratory hospitalizations compared with non-users, Baillargeon said. Older testosterone replacement therapy users had a 9.1 percent greater decrease in respiratory hospitalizations compared with non-users.

Increased testosterone levels results in a leaner body in men suffering from hypogonadism. Low-T treatmentpatientsgain typically 3 to 6 pounds of lean muscle mass in the first month of treatment.

Low testosterone is believed to cause decreased mood and well-being as well as depression. Though TRTtreatment does not cure all forms of mood disorders, some studies have shown Low-T therapyimproves mood and overall quality of life and reduces depression.

Low-T replacement therapyproduces moderate decrease in fat mass, especially abdominal fat mass, in men suffering from hypogonadism. The decrease in fat mass is between 5 to 10 pounds in the first six months of starting (TRT) Low-Treplacement therapy.

In men with low testosterone levels, Low-T treatmentscan improve bone mineral density and reduce the bone fracture, an effect similar to that present in women on estrogen replacement.

Most studies agree that sexual function is improved by testosterone therapy. Erectile dysfunction caused by low testosterone levels can be improved through Low-Treplacement therapy.

How Is Low Testosterone Treated?

Testosterone deficiency can be treated by:

Each of these options provides adequate levels of hormone replacement; however, they all have different advantages and disadvantages. Talk to your doctor to see which approach is right for you.

Men who have prostate cancer or breast cancer should not take testosterone replacement therapy. Nor should men who have severe urinary tract problems, untreated severe sleep apnea or uncontrolled heart failure. All men considering testosterone replacement therapy should undergo a thorough prostate cancer screening -- a rectal exam and PSA test -- prior to starting this therapy.

In general, testosterone replacement therapy is safe. It is associated with some side effects, including:

Laboratory abnormalities that can occur with hormone replacement include:

If you are taking hormone replacement therapy, regular follow-up appointments with your doctor are important.

Like any other medication, directions for administering testosterone should be followed exactly as your doctor orders. If you are unsure or have any questions about testosterone replacement therapy, ask your doctor.

Testosterone Replacement Therapy: Testosterone Injections …

Many aging men with low testosterone report improved energy levels, sex drive, and mood after testosterone treatment. If testosterone is low, why not replace it?

Not so fast. A low testosterone level by itself doesn't need treatment. Testosterone replacement therapy can have side effects, and the long-term risks and benefits aren't known. Only men with symptoms of low testosterone and blood levels that confirm this as the cause of symptoms should consider testosterone replacement. Talking with your doctor is the only way to know if testosterone therapy is right for you.

The symptoms of low testosterone are sometimes obvious, but can be subtle. Testosterone levels decline naturally in men as they age over decades, and symptoms may appear slowly. Low testosterone symptoms include:

If a man has symptoms of low testosterone and tests show he has a low testosterone level, a doctor may suggest treatment. For millions of men who have low testosterone levels but no symptoms, no treatment is currently recommended.

Testosterone replacement therapy is available in several forms. All can improve testosterone levels:

Why not a simple testosterone pill? Oral testosterone is available. However, some experts believe oral testosterone can have negative effects on the liver. Using other methods, such as skin patches, gels, orally disintegrating tablets, or injections, bypasses the liver and gets testosterone into the blood directly.

What can you expect from testosterone treatment? It's impossible to predict, because every man is different. Many men report improvement in energy level, sex drive, and quality of erections. Testosterone also increases bone density, muscle mass, and insulin sensitivity in some men.

Men also often report an improvement in mood from testosterone replacement. Whether these effects are barely noticeable, or a major boost, is highly individualized.

Karen Herbst, MD, PhD, an endocrinologist at University of California-San Diego, specializes in testosterone deficiency. She estimates about one in 10 men are "ecstatic" about their response to testosterone therapy, while about the same number "don't notice much." The majority have generally positive, but varying responses to testosterone replacement.

Health Officials Worried About Potential Health Dangers

Pulaski Law Firm is taking claims from men, aged 50 and older who have suffered heart attack, stroke or other cardiovascular problems while taking testosterone replacement drugs

A new study has emerged detailing the link between testosterone therapy in men and an increase risk of heart attack, strokes and other cardiovascular diseases and problems. More than 55,000 men were followed in the study, and results show more than a doubling of risk of heart attack in those older than 65 who took testosterone compared with those men who did not take the hormone.

A similar increase in heart attack risk was shown for younger users of testosterone who had previously suffered heart attacks, compared to non-users who had previously suffered heart attacks. A lead author of the study indicated that more than a twofold increase in risk of nonfatal heart attacks also existed in younger men with heart disease who had otherwise never before suffered a heart attack.

As men get older they naturally experience a loss of testosterone. Sometimes the levels drop so low that it becomes a medical issue. However, many middle-aged men use testosterone as a means of enhancing their lifestyle, choosing to use testosterone in an attempt to reverse a natural lessening in muscle mass, energy and sex drive. The market has felt the surge of interest in testosterone replacement therapy, as the leading testosterone replacement product, Androgel, have overtaken sales of Viagra since 2012.

Testosterone replacement therapies may include the following products:

Many doctors find the growing widespread use of testosterone replacement concerning, and some medical professionals are now calling on the FDA to insist on large randomized trials to find out whether the therapy is safe, or whether the benefits outweigh the risks. The FDA has issued a statement announcing their investigation into the risk of cardiovascular events in users of testosterone replacement therapies.

If you or a loved one has suffered a heart attack, stroke or other cardiovascular event while taking testosterone, contact the attorneys of Pulaski Law Firm, P.L.L.C. for a free initial consultation.

Biotech’s shares plummet as US deal ends | SBS News – SBS

Shares in biotech Acrux have plummeted after Acrux and US-based pharmaceutical giant Eli Lilly and Co agreed to end their licensing deal for Axiron, a testosterone replacement therapy for men.

Axiron was the first testosterone replacement product that could be applied like a roll-on deodorant on the armpit of a patient.

Melbourne-based Acrux secured a licensing deal with Eli Lilly in 2010, which Acrux described at the time as one of the largest, if not the largest, licensing deals undertaken by an Australian biotech company.

Under the deal, Acrux could receive up to $US335 million plus royalties from Eli Lilly in return for exclusive rights to commercialise Axiron.

"Termination of the license in the US is effective immediately and termination of license outside the US will be effective 90 days thereafter," Acrux said in a statement on Wednesday.

"Global rights to the product will revert to Acrux."

Shares in Acrux dropped 7.5 cents, or 28 per cent, to 19 cents, reducing the company's market value by $12.5 million.

Acrux said generic treatments for testosterone deficiency were creating commercial uncertainty, and the testosterone market was declining.

The costs of a clinical trial required by the US Food and Drug Administration to determine whether an increased risk of heart attack or stroke exists among users of testosterone were also uncertain, the company said.

Acrux is also appealing a US court decision that held that patents for the Axiron formulation were invalid.

Generic versions of Axiron were launched in the US by pharmaceutical firms Perrigo and Teva in July and August.

Eli Lilly and Prasco also launched an authorised generic version of Axiron, from which Acrux received royalties on sales.

Acrux said it is committed to asserting its intellectual property rights for Axiron and the court appeal on the patents issue will continue.

Eli Lilly's global sales in the year to June 30 of $US143 million was down from $US149.3 million in the prior year.

Acrux's royalty revenue from Axiron fell 10 per cent to $A22.8 million in 2016/17, refelecting the decline in global sales.

Lipocine is a specialty pharmaceutical company that focuses on the development of pharmaceutical products in the area of mens and womens health. The Companys primary development programs are based on oral delivery solutions for poorly bioavailable drugs. The Company has a portfolio of product candidates purportedly designed to produce pharmacokinetic characteristics and facilitate lower dosing requirements, bypass first-pass metabolism in certain cases, reduce side effects, and eliminate gastrointestinal interactions that limit bioavailability.

Lipocines lead product candidate is TLANDO (LPCN 1021), an oral testosterone replacement therapy. The Company has previously submitted New Drug Applications (NDA) for TLANDO twice and, both times, received Complete Response Letters (CRL) from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) rejecting the NDAs. The Company received the first CRL in June 2016 and the second in May 2018.

On March 27, 2019, during pre-market hours, Lipocine issued a press release announcing new topline results from a study evaluating TLANDOs effects on blood pressure (one issue cited by the FDA in a prior CRL rejecting TLANDOs NDA), as well as the Companys intention to refile the NDA for TLANDO in the second quarter of 2019 (the March 2019 Press Release).

The Complaint alleges that throughout the Class Period, Defendants made materially false and misleading statements regarding the Companys business, operational and compliance policies. Specifically, Defendants made false and/or misleading statements and/or failed to disclose that: (i) the results from Lipocines clinical studies of TLANDO were insufficient to demonstrate the drugs efficacy; (ii) accordingly, Lipocines third NDA for TLANDO was highly likely to be found deficient by the FDA; and (iii) as a result, the Companys public statements were materially false and misleading at all relevant times.

On November 11, 2019, Lipocine issued a press release announcing receipt of a CRL from the FDA regarding its NDA for TLANDO. In the press release, Lipocine advised investors that the FDA had again rejected the NDA for TLANDOthis time because an efficacy trial had not met three of its secondary endpoints.

On this news, Lipocines stock price fell $1.93 per share, or 70.7%, to close at $0.80 per share on November 11, 2019.
