National Association of Professional Women Announces Dr. Patricia S. Williams, Pastor/Founder , Wings of Faith …

Garden City, NY (PRWEB) December 26, 2013

NAPW honors Dr. Patricia S. Williams as a 2013/2014 Professional Woman of the Year for leadership in religion and spiritual services with this prestigious distinction. As the largest, most-recognized organization of women in the country, spanning virtually every industry and profession, the National Association of Professional Women is a vibrant networking community with over 500,000 members and nearly 400 Local Chapters.

My mission is to introduce those who are lost to Christ, to set up churches and to teach and ordain pastors, bishops and apostles," says Dr. Williams. Born for a life of spiritual leadership, Dr. Williams began her ministry in preaching at the tender age of 12, an experience which soon paved the way for her work as an evangelist and junior missionary under the leadership of the late Rev. Davis of Trenton, NJ.

After receiving her formal teaching and serving in several offices of the church including usher, choir member and member of the pastors aide and hospitality committee, she founded Wings of Faith Chariots of Fire Ministries, Inc. In her role as pastor, she has led her flock to spiritual growth and enlightenment for the past 17 years while providing services to help assist divorced and widowed women. In October 1999, Dr. Williams became consecrated into the office of apostle and on April 17, 2004, to the office of chief apostle, a title she has worn proudly ever since.

Among these many accomplishments, Dr. Williams has authored a book titled "All Sorts of Things" and plans to write at least 35 others books, which will include a series for children. In the imminent future, Dr. Williams hopes to expand her church into several different educational branches, including a Wings of Faith Christian Academy, Williams Christian College and Wings of Faith School of Prophets.

NAPW provides an exclusive, highly advanced networking forum to successful women executives, professionals and entrepreneurs where they can aspire, connect, learn and achieve.

Book World: ‘The Empty Chair’ and ‘Vatican Waltz’

Religion usually doesnt have a prayer in literary fiction. From novels, youd never suspect that tens of millions of Americans attend services every week and pray every day. Sure, there are lots of religious books published in the United States, from sacred texts to inspirational tracts and even sizzling Christian romances, but ascend into the heavenly realm of Serious Fiction, and youll find that Nietzsche was largely right about God. Marilynne Robinson, Alice McDermott, Bob Shacochis the authors who take matters of the spirit seriously could barely fill one pew.

Its striking then to find this month two very different novels that focus on spirituality and even more rare the challenges of devotion. They both dare to enter a sanctuary that few contemporary authors are willing to set foot in.

Bruce Wagner is a parishioner at the holy church of Hollywood. Hes written and directed screenplays, and his name-dropping novels, such as last years Dead Stars, sacrifice the Beautiful People on a glitzy altar of satire. Hes also long been drawn to mysticism, both for his own enlightenment (he was a disciple of the late Carlos Castaneda) and, weirdly, for his acidic comedies (see Still Holding).

The Empty Chair, his new book, has nothing to do with Clint Eastwoods speech at the 2012 Republican National Convention (although its easy to imagine that unhinged moment of our political history as something Wagner would dream up). Instead, The Empty Chair is a pair of thinly conjoined novellas presented as two long, unabridged interviews with practitioners of diet Buddhism seekers slouching toward spiritual redemption.

The first novella by far the better one is a monologue delivered by a 50-year-old gay man at a monastery in Big Sur. Wagner forces himself and us to adhere to the books fictive form: The interview wanders, skips and misfires in a way that reminds us that, in contrast, almost all the interviews we see on TV, hear on the radio or read in the newspaper have been trimmed and arranged as artfully as this Sundays floral display. For many pages, Wagners narrator chats around, offering up his mildly assuming patter of literary allusions and self-deprecating asides: If the Buddhists call sitting meditation zazen, I call my theosophy vanzen because I live in my van, he says. I cant conceive of a life without the ol Greater Vehicle.

Its the illusion of rambling that makes this section so remarkable. But what seems like witty digression about his beatnik idols is really self-conscious delay, the nervous stalling of a man skating around something too painful to approach headlong. Soon we learn that he was sexually abused as a child by a Catholic priest, an ordeal that sent him searching for peace in Buddhism. But even darker traumas lurk in this extraordinary confession. As he begins to describe the woman he married and the spiritually precocious little boy they raised together, the story slips into unimaginably tragic territory.

Wagners real subject here is spiritual pride among the devout struggling toward Nothingness to prove who shall be least. His narrator has a wry sense of humor about this world of competitive enlightenment, but theres no smirking when he finally arrives at what it costs a child to be infected with his parents metaphysical shtick. Can a young boy subsist on the wheatgrass and tofu of passive-aggressively homicidal Zen platitudes? No matter where you are in the 31 Realms of Existence, youll feel shaken by this devastating story.

Speaking of nothingness, dont bother with the second novella of The Empty Chair. Its the maundering tale of a woman recalling her affair with a wealthy criminal who was determined to find his guru in India. Tedious and convoluted, this story offers no emotional impact whatsoever, and, worse, its last-ditch effort to connect with the first novella feels like an act of desecration.

Vatican Waltz

Roland Merullos last few books have been gently comic novels about faith and spirituality, from Golfing With God to Lunch With Buddha. Although those cloying titles may sound like purgatory, the stories themselves are redeemed by Merullos winning sweetness. Of course, if you need your religious figures frozen in dark stained glass, you should probably pass by on the other side, but if youre hip to a little irreverence and humor in divine matters, you might like him very much.

Enlightenment, Spiritual Enlightenment

"En-light-en-ed" implies you must have the light. The light is within you. In the Christian Bible, it is said: Take heed that the light in you should not become darkness. It also says: If your eye be single, your whole body shall be full of light. It always mentions the light. Also, it mentions many kinds of Godly sounds, like the sound of thunder, the sound of many waters, the sound of the heavenly trumpet, the harp, and all these kinds of things.

Enlightenment is a must. Enlightenment means knowing the light within ourselves, EN-LIGHTENED. The light within us will guide every footstep in our life to the correct destination. The word of God, the sound, the vibration, the music of heaven will whisper to us all the wisdom in the universe, and what we can do in our daily lives until we fulfil our duty as the blessing givers of this Earth.

Enlightenment is the process of knowing what is greater than life, what is greater than the things we can see with our physical eyes, or touch with our physical instruments. It is the moment when we begin to know something greater than that, the true governor of the whole universe, which is also within ourselves.

Enlightenment means inner awakening. You realise that you have a power that is much greater than what you use every day. Usually, we follow the directions of our ego, but after Enlightenment, we follow God's will. We are connected with Him and recognise our real value. But at the same time we become very humble. The more we know about ourselves the more humble we become. We know that there is a greater force in the universe, and it isn't for our human understanding to discuss and to grasp. So we become humble and then very powerful, because we have a higher power within us, and use it every day for the benefit of others. As we tap within ourselves into the right source of positive power, which is called in Christian terminology, the spirit that dwells within you,' or God Almighty, we open that source that was closed before. So once that source is opened we become powerful like Christ, like Buddha. We can help many people with this inborn God power, and then we become more humble because we see within everyone the same power, so we respect everyone as living God.

Enlightenment is a gift from God, and not the result of virtuous or charitable deeds. We can all become enlightened or liberated. If not, why would God have sent Jesus or Buddha or Mohammed if we were so helpless, if only the virtuous souls could achieve it? And I do not know who is really virtuous because, every saint has a past and every sinner has a future.' We are not such sinners. It is an illusion and after you understand this, you will know that there isn't any virtue or sin. We must however work a great deal to realise this. The Quan Yin Method offers you a method free of charge to rediscover your original purity and noble heritage.

Beautifying Our Life With The Light Of Enlightenment

Our life here is already good. But, it would be best for us if we had enlightenment. Enlightenment means more light into our life. Not artificial light, but the light that is everlasting. Then, every activity and everything we do, we are very clear. Not clear at the level of the mind, but clear at the level of super consciousness. Therefore, we will always be in the correct direction. Even if we make mistakes, it is not a mistake. We will know it's just apparently so, but it's actually the plan of the universal brotherhood.

Many people fear that after enlightenment, they cannot do their business, that they may not be able to get married, or they will have trouble of any kind. But it is the wrong conception of enlightenment. Enlightenment should be, that we will be more beneficial to the world, more efficient in whatever we do, and more happy in our life. Enlightenment doesn't mean we have to spend our life in misery or in ascetic practice, smearing ashes all over the body and all that. You can do that if you are in India. It saves some cloth. But in the West we don't need to do that. Whatever we do, whether we smear ashes on our body, whether we shave our head, or we wear rags or beautiful clothes, it should be accompanied with enlightenment. And that is all we lack.

What is it about Enlightenment that so many people make a great mystery about, praise so much, and encourage us to go forward to claim it again? It is not Enlightenment at all. It is just the Truth. It is just the way it should be; it is the way it is. And if we don't know Enlightenment, then we continue suffering so much until we realize that everything else is not important, except to know God.

How to Win in the Game of Life Presented in New Book ‘Life Is a Game’

Brisbane, Australia (PRWEB) December 21, 2013

It is easy to fall into the spending craze during the holiday season. Why not take a step back from the materialistic things in life and focus on the journey?

Life Is a Game by DJ Con chronicles the personal journey of one man as he tries to move from the materialistic way of life to the spiritual side.

This book shares the intimate details a challenging spiritual journey, Con said. I eventually reached a destination so peaceful, alive, clear and vibrant, achieving a level of awareness that once seemed impossible.

Focusing on the ideals of numerology and astrology, Life Is a Game gives readers the tools to create their own reality, live in the present and contemplate the illusion of time. Con also covers the importance of learning how to manifest in order to break though the negative energy rampant in todays society.

People should be prepared to be open-minded as they seek answers to lifes questions, Con said. Enlightenment can be achieved by seeing through the illusions of life and becoming aware that life is a game.

Besides chronicling his own personal journey, Con hopes to inspire others to seek out their own spiritual journeys.

Spiritual Enlightenment Now – A Comprehensive Guide

Walking on a small pebble is not necessary. We can walk freely with wisdom.

It happened on a Friday night. Friday was the weekly meeting with the master. From seven in the evening till about half past eight, the master initiates his disciples into the various postures of yoga. This is usually followed by breathing exercises, meditation, relaxation and a talk by the master.

Have you ever just stopped..just stopped..just stopped.yourself on each floor of your emotional up rise? Chances are, if you would have gotten off on each floor and truly related to those in the lobby you might have had a larger experience. There is much to be said about a roof top view over the community, but there is a reason for the saying, Its lonely at the top!

We are part of manifest creation that has the inherent tendency of movement. The movement is either upward or downward, whether in the spiritual, commercial or emotional worlds.

The conscious mind or the ego is conscious perceptions, sensation through our senses, thinking, feelings, and intuition. The suppressed and forgotten memories, traumas, etc. that the ego does not recognise are within the Personal Unconscious. The deeper Collective Unconsciousness is universal. It is the repository of all the religious, spiritual, and mythological symbols.

Spiritual Enlightenment Now - A Comprehensive Guide

Enlightenment (spiritual) – Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Enlightenment refers to the "full comprehension of a situation".[web 1] It is commonly used to denote the Age of Enlightenment,[note 1] but is also used in Western cultures in a religious context. It translates several Buddhist terms and concepts, most notably bodhi,[note 2]kensho and satori. Related terms from Asian religions are moksha (liberation) in Hinduism, Kevala Jnana in Jainism and ushta in Zoroastrianism.

In Christianity, the word "enlightenment" is rarely used, except to refer to the Age of Enlightenment and its influence on Christianity. Equivalent terms may be revelation, metanoia and conversion.

The English term "enlightenment" has commonly been used to translate several Sanskrit, Pali,[web 2] Chinese and Japanese terms and concepts, especially bodhi, prajna, kensho, satori and buddhahood.

Bodhi is a Theravada term. It literally means "awakening" and "understanding". Someone who is awakened has gained insight into the workings of the mind which keeps us imprisoned in craving, suffering and rebirth,[web 1] and has also gained insight into the way that leads to nirvana, the liberation of oneself from this imprisonment.

Prajna is a Mahayana term. It refers to insight into our true nature, which according to Madhyamaka is empty of a personal essence in the stream of experience. But it also refers to the Tathgata-garbha or Buddha-nature, the essential basic-consciousness beyond the stream of experience.

In Zen, kensho means "seeing into one's true nature".Satori is often used interchangeably with kensho, but refers to the experience of kensho.

Buddhahood is the attainment of full awakening and becoming a Buddha. According to the Tibetan Thubten Yeshe,[web 3] enlightenment

[means] full awakening; buddhahood. The ultimate goal of Buddhist practice, attained when all limitations have been removed from the mind and one's positive potential has been completely and perfectly realized. It is a state characterized by infinite compassion, wisdom and skill.[web 4]

In Indian religions moksha (Sanskrit: moka; liberation) or mukti (Sanskrit: ; release both from the root muc "to let loose, let go") is the final extrication of the soul or consciousness (purusha) from samsara and the bringing to an end of all the suffering involved in being subject to the cycle of repeated death and rebirth (reincarnation).

Advaita Vedanta (IAST Advaita Vednta; Sanskrit: [dait ednt]) is a philosophical concept where followers seek liberation/release by recognizing identity of the Self (Atman) and the Whole (Brahman) through long preparation and training, usually under the guidance of a guru, that involves efforts such as knowledge of scriptures, renunciation of worldy activities, and inducement of direct identity experiences. Originating in India before 788 AD, Advaita Vedanta is widely considered the most influential and most dominant[web 5] sub-school of the Vednta (literally, end or the goal of the Vedas, Sanskrit) school of Hindu philosophy. Other major sub-schools of Vednta are Viishdvaita and Dvaita; while the minor ones include Suddhadvaita, Dvaitadvaita and Achintya Bhedabheda.

Teachings on Spiritual Enlightenment – Meditation Music …

There is only one thing ever to point to for your own freedom.

And it's not a thing, it is this moment.

This is where your focus should rest. Not today, not this hour, not this minute nor this second, it is much more simple than that.

It is right now, this very moment. To allow everything to be as it is just now. To let yourself be present with what is right now.

And right now you exist. Right now, there is a feeling of being. In this moment without referring to your thoughts there is this undeniable sense that you are.

Notice this. Not "you are a person" or "your are" anything at all. But simply being. It is indescribable, indefinable, but it is here. If thoughts come, let them come, let them go. If feelings are there let them be. Don't resist anything.

Don't even resist the resistance. Because if you resist this moment, if you think it should be other than it is, then you are at war with this moment. And no matter how hard you try and manipulate your world in this moment to be the way you would like it to be, it will only be the way that it is.

So you either are resting in this moment or you are fighting this moment.

You are living as "is-ness" or your are living as "I want." To be here in and as this moment, or to be lost in your thoughts. You can't have both. Freedom or limitation. This present moment, or your endless commentary about who you think you are, where you have been and where you are going.

Can you let everything be in this moment? Can you stop trying to change and control your world and instead, simply rest with me right now? Just for this second, can you let go and rest in what is here and now?

Review: ‘Dancing on a Dry Salt Lake’ stumbles to spiritual awakening

Dominique De Fazio stars in "Dancing on a Dry Salt Lake." (Cinema Revealed / December 17, 2013)

December 17, 2013, 6:00 p.m.

There's something dispiritingly familiar about "Dancing on a Dry Salt Lake," writer-director-star Dominique De Fazio's tale of a white man's journey into Native American mysticism.

De Fazio plays Warner, a 40-something astronomer who heads out to the Californian desert after his live-in girlfriend dumps him for being too selfish. Warner crashes his car on the outskirts of San Bernardino County and ends up in a small community of European expats, among whom he develops a whole new personality (as a result of inconsistent writing, not as plot development).

Now a mensch par excellence, Warner locks horns with a domestic abuser and volunteers to perform manual labor. But those acts are merely penance in service of attaining his ultimate goal: to reach enlightenment by reading the stars for a message from God.

PHOTOS: Billion-dollar movie club

Compelling portraiture of religious transcendence remains a challenge for many filmmakers, De Fazio included. His depiction of Warner's small steps toward wisdom is painfully literal in that the character is seen walking Tai Chi-style in a number of scenes, practicing a kind of meditation by slow-motion stride.

Even worse is Warner's hokey relationship with a friendly Native American gas-station attendant (Aldred Montoya) who becomes his spiritual guide. The film's lack of momentum makes the pace stultifyingly slow, but it's the script's reliance on the musty Wise Indian trope that makes "Dancing" dead on arrival.

SAN FRANCISCOShen Yun Performing Arts was spiritual enlightenment on stage for Amir Habib, owner of Integrative Financial Strategies, at the SHN Orpheum Theatre in San Francisco Friday night.

It was excellent, Mr. Habib said. It was spectacular.

There were some moments of spiritual enlightenment there, Mr. Habib said of New York-based Shen Yuns bringing to life 5,000 years of traditional Chinese culture.

From the dances, Mr. Habib said he saw that were all descended from Heaven waiting for the Creator.

Were all waiting to be saved, Mr Habib said, adding that he connected to it despite being from a different culture.

[I] totally enjoyed it, very, very nice, Mr. Habib said. [It's] visually very appealing, nice, colorful, nice movements.
