Enlightenment broadly means wisdom or understanding enabling clarity of perception. However, the English word covers two concepts which can be quite distinct: religious and spiritual enlightenment (German: Erleuchtung) and secular or intellectual enlightenment (German: Aufklrung).

In religious use, enlightenment is most closely associated with South and East Asian religious experience, being used to translate words such as (in Buddhism) bodhi or satori, or (in Hinduism) moksha. The concept has parallels in the Abrahamic religions (in the Kabbalah tradition in Judaism, in Christian mysticism, and in the Sufi tradition of Islam).

In secular use, the concept refers mainly to the European intellectual movement known as the Age of Enlightenment, also called the Age of Reason, referring to philosophical developments related to scientific rationality in the 17th and 18th centuries.

In the Western philosophical tradition, enlightenment is seen as a phase in cultural history marked by philosophical methodologies which employ knowledge and reason, generally accompanied by the rejection of faith in the institutional religions of Judaism, Christianity and Islam.

In his famous 1784 essay What Is Enlightenment?, Immanuel Kant described it as follows:

Kant reasoned that although a man must obey in his civil duties, he must make public his use of reason. His motto for enlightenment is Sapere aude! or "Dare to know."

In their controversial analysis of the contemporary western society, Dialectic of Enlightenment (1944, revised 1947), Theodor Adorno and Max Horkheimer developed a wider, and more pessimistic concept of enlightenment. In their analysis, enlightenment had its dark side: while trying to abolish superstition and myths by 'foundationalist' philosophy, it ignored its own 'mythical' basis. Its strivings towards totality and certainty led to an increasing instrumentalization of reason.

In their view, the enlightenment itself should be enlightened and not posed as a 'myth-free' view of the world.

Empowering the powerless makes it clear that "Christ is Lord." It is another important truth that we must see as Jesus appointed the Apostles for their initial ministry. God's word can be very disappointing when it does not deliver what we want to hear. Here, Jesus gave the Apostles, not only the authority to be powerful, but, the purpose for why it was allowed. God's power is authenticated by God's wise purposes. As the Lord unveils some specific details of what was going to happen to His followers then, this makes us understand how to see the bigger picture of the Lordship of Christ.

Let us make it a habit to see the bigger picture of things within the context of God's glory. Seeing things beyond ourselves and our personal interest is powerlessness and spiritual depth. If we see the bigger picture while still in the context of self, we will only see a big, and enlarged "selfie."

When we bow to the rule of Christ, we develop kingdom convictions that would become kingdom commitments. Here, Christ, being Lord, is crystal-clear. Personally, when I begin to see the big picture within the context of God's glory, I don't only see the holiness of God's purpose, but also, the humor of how God's power is displayed. I end up more smiling than whining.

This time, the Apostles should now slowly see themselves, not as powerful people but powerless . . . empowered to make the Lordship of Christ crystal-clear. More than their power to get even with their enemies, they had been empowered to face their persecutors and die a Christ-like death that brought life to many. Their (apostles) martyrdom was a preview of the shattered expectations that the Lordship of Christ produced. Being empowered and authorized to dispense God's mandate made them bow down to Christ.

Here, it is clearly manifested that as Christ is Lord, He is above our expectations; as Christ is Lord, He is ahead of every enemy; as Christ is Lord, He can turn an accident into an experience of deep spiritual enlightenment.

As we learn to see the large frame, we soon discover our various roles and appreciate His power over our powerlessness. When we know our role, we learn to respect the roles God assigned to others as agents of redemption. Soon, we view each other as co-workers and not as rivals . . . as coming from one Vine. Becoming powerless is a continuous powerful encounter and experience with God. We see the big picture, we know our role, we respect other agents of change commissioned by the same Lord, and we will be maximized to be what Christ wants us to be. Indeed, Jesus Christ is Lord.

Annie Francoeur debuts with new spiritual life account

For the past seven years, author Annie Francoeur has been a follower of the Master Zarathustra, a spiritual being she discovered thanks to the teachings she received at the Ohamah School, taught by Norma Delaney. Delaney is co-host of the radio show Breath of Life and cofounder of New Breath, a breath coaching community that uses integration to help its participants find relief from many stressors.

Then, while sharing about this, it explains about the integration of soul into the concrete, normal human life, which means inviting the higher realm of ones own essence, soul or consciousness into the life experience and all its dimensions. Government prosecutors say Ross Ulbricht is the mastermindbehind Silk Road, the most successful drug-selling market on the Internet. He's currently ontrial facing federaldrug-trafficking charges and could be sent to prison for life, if convicted. Duringtrialyesterday, asan IRS special agent was showing the jury various e-mails of Ulbricht's, his OkCupid username, ross-0,wasshown in court.

On the profile, Ulbricht gives vague answers about his employment, but hardly looks the part of an alleged kingpin.Hedescribes himself as a "scientist turned entrepreneur." After building "several businesses over the years," he's now "an independent investor and plotting my next venture," he explained. He describes himself as working in technology and doesn't disclose his income.

The writeupincludes plenty of typical dating-profile fare:a photo of him witha dog ("women are helpless against his powers," reads the caption), a photo of him jumping off a cliff into a body of water, a photo of him in a toga for Halloween. "Doing my best hugh hefner," he writes in a caption to a photo of himself in a robe and smoking from a pipe. In another photo, from Thailand, he feigns shock posing in front of what he describes as a "shrine of dildos."Under "first things people notice about me," he says "many think I look like Robert Pattinson [the lead actor of the Twilight film series] at first."

He lists The Power of Now, a best-selling book by Eckhart Tolle that touts itself as a "Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment," as one of his favorite books. For music, he states that Electric Light Orchestras Im Alive is his theme song.

Theprofile shows him as last logging into the site onSeptember 29, 2013, just two days before he was arrested in a San Francisco library.

Federal agents who arrested him took his laptop and have used files on it as evidence against him in court. According to prosecutors, Ulbricht'slaptop held a log of managementactivities related to Silk Road, which the government is using as evidence against him. The week of September 11, 2013, the log describes getting "covered in poison oak" and going on "a first date with amelia from okc."

Another fileon that laptop, a journal entry read aloud in court last week, echoes the "scientist turned entrepreneur" language inUlbricht'sOKC profile, althoughwith adarker bent.
