DAY 26 - Times Square 69 - 3 - I love Red Heads and Girls in Black MP4 - Video
Pablo Sandoval, the "Kung Fu Panda," has left the San Francisco Giants for wealthier days with the Boston Red Sox, leaving his faithful fans with no choice but to put away their panda heads.
Michael Jessen and Sam Li are two of the season-ticket holders who sat along the third-base line wearing the heads. The two fans met while attending the University of California in Berkeley and said eight others have taken turns with them going to the games and wearing the headgear.
"We could not believe how much more fun those little somethings -- the panda heads -- brought to every San Franciscan's life, Li said in an email to the Associated Press. For that, we felt the best. We have stuck those heads out of our car windows after games, and every single San Franciscan on the street brought a wide grin and joy.
"It is only a very small something, not more than say bringing a jacket to a game, but it touches so many people on so many levels, and in a lot of cases, changes people's life. It is wonderful.
Li said he would donate at least one of the panda heads to the team with the hope that it will be placed in the clubhouse or somewhere at AT&T Park to recognize Sandoval's contributions to the team, which has won World Series titles in 2010, '12 and this past season.
Sandoval, a switch-hitting third baseman, was the World Series MVP in 2012 and in this last postseason contributed a record 26 hits in the playoffs. He has a .426 batting average in 12 World Series games. Sandoval became a free agent this off-season and accepted a five-year, $95-million contract with the Red Sox.
Li, whose favorite player is Buster Posey, did not know what was next.
"We will not cheer for any other player than in Giants' jerseys," Li told AP. "We will have to find something else to bring that dimension back to the game.

Those oversized panda heads are being put away at least the ones seen in the first row at AT&T Park. Pablo Sandoval's bamboo-eating buddies aren't following him to Beantown.
Sam Li, a San Francisco Giants fan often inside one of the four humongous panda heads, said Wednesday he and his friends have decided they must find a new way to honor their team. They had worn those heads in tribute to Sandoval, nicknamed "Kung Fu Panda" by teammate Barry Zito in September 2008.
After his $17.15 million, three-year contract ended with the Giants, Sandoval agreed to a $95 million, five-year deal with Boston this week, saying he needed a "new challenge."
Li, best friend Michael Jessen and about eight others have rotated under the panda heads in recent years. Li said in an email to The Associated Press that the group became Giants fans while attending college at California-Berkeley across the bay and found the "original head" on Amazon.com for about $130. They acquired the rest from a toy manufacturer who is a friend of Li's.
"We could not believe how much more fun those little somethings the panda heads brought to every San Franciscan's life," Li wrote. "For that, we felt the best. We have stuck those heads out of our car windows after games, and every single San Franciscan on the street brought a wide grin and joy. It is only a very small something, not more than say bringing a jacket to a game, but it touches so many people on so many levels, and in a lot of cases, changes people's life. It is wonderful."
Li said the group hopes to donate one of the panda heads to the Giants with the idea that it could be placed in the clubhouse or somewhere special in the ballpark to remember Sandoval's contributions to World Series title teams in 2010, '12 and '14. Li termed the head "part of Giants' history."
Sandoval, a free-swinging, switch-hitting third baseman, was MVP of the 2012 Series sweep of Detroit after a three-homer game in the opener.
Sandoval wasn't even Li's favorite Giants player. That distinction goes to catcher Buster Posey, and the group wore Posey jerseys along with the panda heads.
"Everyone asked, 'Why 28 jersey with panda?' We always answered, 'We are here for the team,'" Li said. "It is teamwork, and the Giants have better teamwork than any other baseball team."
Li said part of the pleasure of wearing the panda heads has been to support the Giants without making their identities known. Some of the group also wore fake facial hair during the "Fear the Beard" movement when bushy-bearded closer Brian Wilson worked the ninth inning for San Francisco.

A celebrity-packed wedding party headed by Posh and Becks could make it to the starting grid in the rural backwaters of Leamington when a Formula One boss marries a Spice Girl.
Ginger Spice Geri Halliwell and Warwick School old boy Christian Horner who heads Red Bull racing ended speculation by announcing their engagement in The Times last week.
The focus has now switched to where the wedding will be staged, with a setting near Bishops Itchington near pole position.
Its where Horner grew up as an ambitious karter who ignored his parents advice and spurned university to strike out as a pro racing driver.
He was reportedly told by his well-heeled father that he would have to finance himself if he wanted to make it in what is the most expensive of sports
Although he retired as a driver at 25, his success heading one of the biggest names in F1 has brought him an estimated 4.5million fortune and an OBE.
This week Horner celebrated his 41st birthday making him a year younger than Geri who famously was labelled Old Spice when caught out shaving off a few years from her 25 at the height of the groups fame.
If the couple opts for a hotel wedding, there are a number of contenders in the area, including Mallory Court where Coventry-born England cricketer Ian Bell tied the knot.
Just down the road, at Bishops Tachbrook, is Mr Karting, a racing track that while not comparing to the Monte Carlo circuit, has the benefit of Christian knowing all the bends and curves.
He booked it out for a youngsters birthday party some years ago and might fancy it for light-relief after the formalities of the ceremony.

BOSTON (AP) Pablo Sandoval and Hanley Ramirez spent the last two seasons as NL West rivals. Now they're teammates in Boston, the result of a $183 million spending spree the Red Sox are hoping will lift them out of the AL East cellar.
"It's exciting for me to be with Hanley and David Ortiz," Sandoval said Tuesday at Fenway Park after finishing up a five-year, $95 million contract that adds him to a lineup he called "The Three Amigos."
About five hours later, the Red Sox completed their day-night news conference doubleheader by announcing Ramirez's four-year deal, which is worth $88 million. A former Red Sox prospect, Ramirez was traded to the Marlins nine Thanksgivings ago in a deal that brought Mike Lowell and Josh Beckett to Boston.
"Why not go back where you belong?" Ramirez said. "It worked out for the both of us: You guys won a couple of world championships. I haven't won any, but that's what I'm here for."
Sandoval helped the Giants win three titles, earning the World Series MVP in 2012 and the nickname "Kung Fu Panda" that helped cement him as a fan favorite. He thanked the Giants for bringing him up as a big leaguer and Giants' fans for their support.
"I want a new challenge. I need a new challenge," he said at his afternoon news conference. "I know that I had a great career in San Francisco. But I'm going to have a new one here."
Sandoval helps fill a hole in the Red Sox lineup for a third baseman and a left-handed bat. Ramirez, who played shortstop and a little third base with the Marlins and Los Angeles Dodgers, is expected to move to left field.
"You're always trying to get a sense of where they might fit in," Red Sox manager John Farrell said. "We're not even at Thanksgiving yet. The potential for some other additions might exist."
Sandoval's deal includes a team option for 2020 and Ramirez's contract has a vesting option for 2019.
A 28-year-old Venezuelan listed at 5-foot-11 and 248 pounds, Sandoval was seen as a potential replacement at designated hitter when Ortiz retires. But Sandoval said he plans to manage his weight so he can remain in the field.

Red Bulls Update: New York Heads to New England for Second Leg of Conference Championship
The Red Sox have made themselves relevant again.
Spending $190 million to win the internet for a day, or whatever passes for a "news cycle" in 2014, isn't quite as crazy as it seems.
Now, if the Red Sox can get back Jon Lester, they might even be competitive again.
The Red Sox got a one-week jump Cyber Monday. Instead of landing a bargain, they paid a hefty markup for their stuff. By reportedly dropping $190 million combined on Pablo Sandoval and Hanley Ramirez, the Red Sox reminded us and everyone else what they're all about.
These deals weren't about baseball. And neither are the Red Sox. They are a unique form of entertainment that enjoys a special emotional and historic hold on their audience. The Red Sox are back on our radar. The Hot Stove has been turned up to about 375 degrees. John Henry, Tom Werner, Larry Luchhino and Ben Cherington can enjoy a group high-five.
Christmas at Fenway must be just around the corner.
Let others break down Ramirez's OPS vs. left-handed pitchers on Tuesday nights inside domed stadiums. Or the dollar-value of Sandoval's contract vs. the luxury-tax threshold in 2017.
The only question that matters with any of these signings is this: Do these players make the team better and more-compelling to watch?
The answer is a simple "yes" and "hell, yes."
You just know that Panda heads will be the new Pink Hats.

The Red Bulls Richard Eckersley, front, battling with Revolutions Teal Bunbury during the second half Sunday afternoon.
That put the Revolution to within a draw of the MLS Cup final.
The result gives the Revolution a significant advantage heading home for the second leg of the aggregate-goals series on Saturday. They will need only a tie at Gillette Stadium to advance and face Los Angeles or Seattle.
Teal Bunbury gave the Revolution the lead early, and Bradley Wright-Phillips tied the game for the Red Bulls midway through the first half.
New England took the lead in the 17th minute when Bunbury took the ball on the right, touched it around Amboise Oyongo and struck a left-footed drive that curled inside the left post.
Wright-Phillips tied the match in the 27th minute, but will miss the second leg after his second yellow card of the playoffs in the 60th minute for challenging New England goalkeeper Bobby Shuttleworth as he attempted to put the ball back into play.
Wright-Phillips yellow card was one of 10 in the match issued by referee Alan Chapman.
"The referee lost control of the game tonight for both teams," Red Bulls coach Mike Petke said. "I almost wanted to get a yellow because I felt left out."

Miley Cyrus is no stranger to making fashion statements on the red carpet.
So it should come as no surprise that younger sister Noah Cyrus made some noise Sunday night while appearing at the 2014 American Music Awards.
The 14-year-old rocked a rather mature look, which featured a black lace romper, matching heels and some major hair extensions.
"Obviously I was wearing super long extensions," she shared on Twitter. "Everybody knows it it's a fact kiss kiss."
It's quite the different look from what Noah wore just one year ago at the 2013 Teen Choice Awards.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) From his three-homer game in the 2012 World Series to that lasting image of his arms in the air celebrating another championship last month, Pablo Sandoval left quite a mark in San Francisco.
No wonder fans are stunned he is really leaving. Right after he said he would love to retire in a Giants uniform, no less.

BOSTON (AP) The Red Sox are hoping to spend their way out of the AL East cellar with two big free agent signings.
The first team in major league history to go from worst to first and back again has agreed to terms third baseman Pablo Sandoval, his agent confirmed Monday night. According to a baseball official with knowledge of the deal, Boston also agreed to a deal with Hanley Ramirez, who came up to the major leagues with the Red Sox.
The official confirmed both agreements on the condition of anonymity because the players hadn't passed physicals. The Ramirez deal was expected to be finalized Tuesday.
The moves give the Red Sox a potent batting order that includes two of the last three World Series MVPs, Sandoval and David Ortiz. But they still have to replace the four starting pitchers they traded last summer.
Sandoval, 28, is a career .294 hitter who had 16 homers and 73 RBIs in the regular season this year and then hit .366 in the postseason while helping the Giants win their third World Series in five years. With his everyman body type and colorful nickname Kung Fu Panda the switch hitter was a fan favorite in the Bay Area.
"He has been with us through some of the greatest moments in San Francisco Giants history including all three World Series championships," the Giants said in a statement. "We will never forget his World Series MVP performance in 2012 and his numerous contributions to the 2014 championship. His connection with Giants fans young and old is truly special, and he will be greatly missed. We wish him nothing but the best in Boston."
Ramirez came up in the Red Sox system and was still a prospect when he was traded to the Florida Marlins in the deal that brought Josh Beckett and future World Series MVP Mike Lowell to Boston. The 30-year-old shortstop batted .300 with 13 homers and 71 RBIs for Los Angeles this year.
Boston already seems set at shortstop with 22-year-old Xander Bogaerts, and with Sandoval at third they are expected to move Ramirez to left field. He has never played outfield in the majors.
The moves give the Red Sox a surplus of outfielders, with Ramirez potentially joining Yoenis Cespedes, Rusney Castillo, Shane Victorino, Jackie Bradley Jr. Allen Craig, Mookie Betts and Daniel Nava. They are expected to shop some of the extras for pitching, which they have been lacking since dealing Jon Lester, John Lackey, Jake Peavy and Felix Doubrount near the July 31 deadline for trades without waivers.
Boston will not forfeit the No. 7 overall pick in June's amateur draft but will give up the second and third selections.

COLUMBIA Hickman High School students hailed passers-by in the Columbia Mall on Saturday, waving blank holiday cards above their heads.
"Would you like to sign a card for our veterans?" they asked.
Children and adults alike were reined in by their pleas to scribble appreciative notes and best wishes on the cards.
The event was Holiday Mail for Heroes, put on locally this year by Hickman's Red Cross Club. The cards will be distributed to veterans in central Missouri.
The Red Cross Club at Hickman is in its third year of service.
Ginny Lennonhas been the gifted education resource teacher at Hickman for the past four years and has been the faculty sponsor for the club since its inception. When student Junyi Wu, the founder and current president of the club, approached her with the idea, she was happy to support him.
"I have always respected the Red Cross' efforts, and I thought it was wonderful that Junyi wanted to get more service opportunities here at Hickman," Lennon said.
Lennon said that with 43 students, the group has grown to be one of the largest organizations at Hickman.
"They're just a great group of kids, and I'm honored to be their sponsor," Lennon said.

The Formula 1 season for 2014 is heading for a climax in Abu Dhabi over the weekend. The Constructors' Championship for the year has already been settled in favour of Mercedes, which has 651 points, followed by Red Bull Racing-Renault and Williams-Mercedes, both quite a distance behind with 373 and 254 points respectively. The defending constructor, Red Bull, will find it impossible to beat Mercedes. Even if its drivers, Daniel Ricciardo and Sebastien Vettel, take the first two places at the pretty Yas Marina circuit, they will not win enough points to overtake the leader.
The suspense is about who will be the champion driver of 2014. At the end of the penultimate race of the year in Brazil, the men at the top were separated by just 17 points: Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton has 334 points, while his compatriot Nico Rosberg has 317 points. They are followed by Red Bull's Ricciardo with 214 points.
Hamilton has insisted that his 17-point advantage over Rosberg is not enough to provide him with a margin of safety heading into the Abu Dhabi season finale. Hamilton can afford to finish second to his teammate and title rival at Yas Marina and still clinch a second crown, but the British driver believes that he cannot take his lead over his German teammate for granted, and that securing victory would be his sole aim on Sunday.
Vettel, who has enjoyed an amazing winning streak in recent years, has fallen behind this season with no substantial win in any race. He stands fourth in the drivers' standings with a measly 159 points.
The ticket prices at Abu Dhabi cost $150 to $2,500. But as with most Formula 1 races, which are both sporting as well as social events, tickets for race day had sold out days before the practice runs on Friday. The race starts at 5 pm local time on Sunday and will continue under floodlights on the hybrid track - partly laid and partly street.
The "formula" in the name refers to a set of rules that all participants' cars must comply with. There are 11 teams from well-known constructors, each of which has two drivers and two cars racing. The Formula 1 season this year had 19 races in 17 countries. They are raced on specially-laid tracks at racing circuits, with the exception of Monaco, Melbourne, Singapore and Valencia. In these cities, the race takes place on public streets, suitably prepared for speeds of 300 kmph and over. Singapore has the distinction of having the race taking place at night along brightly lit streets. In San Marino, Italy, and Sao Paulo, Brazil, the race is run anti-clockwise, creating a situation for drivers, who find it difficult to adjust their necks to the drive.
According to the scoring system, the first 10 positions earn the drivers 25, 18, 15, 12, 10, 6, 4, 2 and 1 points, respectively. The constructor's title is decided by adding the points scored by the two drivers of the team. In case of a tie for the championship places, the driver or constructor with the higher number of superior race results is designated the winner. However, the governing International Automobile Federation (FIA) has modified the rules to award double the points in the last race of the reason in an attempt to keep the championships undecided till the very end. This was resorted to after Red Bull dominated the season four years in a row.
FIA says that the extra points would "maximise focus on the championship until the end of the campaign", but critics point out how bad luck in the final race would have a far greater impact on the title outcome than at any other point in the season. Vettel would not have been champion in 2012 had double points been awarded in the last race. Neither would Hamilton have been champion with McLaren in 2008 nor Michael Schumacher with Ferrari in 2003. Brazilian Felipe Massa and Finland's Kimi Raikkonen would have taken the titles instead.
Abu Dhabi brings to a close a season when there were no races in India after three were run at the Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida between 2011 and 2013. Delhi does not figure in the 2014 and 2015 calendars. Bernie Ecclestone, chief executive of the F1 group, said that the 2014 Indian Grand Prix had to be dropped to tweak the racing calendar. The actual reason is believed to be political: a show of disapproval at the government's unwillingness to relent on taxation issues and the red tape involved.

Just three games into the season and the Cornell mens basketball team has already made it clear that last years woes are a distant memory. The Red equaled its 2013-14 win total in just the first home game of the season, as it knocked off regional rival Colgate, 58-52 on Tuesday night.
The win highlighted the squads offensive depth, defensive tenacity and willingness to run the floor, all of which will be tested against top competition at the Charleston Classic.
Our guys have been executing the game plan well so far. We have stressed rebounding as a key to our success and our guys have done well at it, said head coach Bill Courtney.
The return of All-Ivy First Teamer Shonn Miller, along with senior guard Galal Cancer, has proven to be a difference maker for the Red early in the season. After scoring 21 and 20 points in the first two games, Miller was held to six against Colgate, but his impact was felt throughout the game nevertheless. As a forward with the ability to stretch the floor and hit outside shots, the respect that defenses are forced to give him allowed openings for guards like Cancer and senior Devin Cherry to attack the rim. Against Colgate, Cherry stepped up with 21 points and five assists to lead the offense.
The game was fast-paced and physically intensive, forcing the Red to use a balanced bench attack to help it come back from a 17-point deficit. After scoring a combined total of nine points in its first two games, the Cornell bench doubled that amount against Colgate. Sophomore guard JoJo Fallas scored eight points and freshman forward Wil Bathurst chipped in four points and four boards in 18 minutes of work.
We fought hard throughout the game. Having been down on the road against Loyola, we knew what was necessary and stepped up. Our guys stepped up the intensity in the second half to get us back in it, Courtney said.
The Charleston Classic will be a significant early season test for the Red, with four big-name conference teams in the field USC, Miami (FL), Penn State and South Carolina. The Red is in the bottom half of the bracket and is 13-point underdogs for the first game against South Carolina, which returns 11 players from last years team that finished second to last in the SEC for the second year in a row. The Gamecocks do return highly-touted shooting guard Sindarius Thornwell, who finished second on the team in scoring last season.
We are looking forward to challenging games in the tournament. There are several top teams at the event and I am looking forward to great competition. Our play is improved so far, and we want to keep that going in Charleston, Courtney said.
The top half of the Charleston Classic bracket features USC, a team that is coming off a season in which it finished last in the PAC 12. The Trojans bring in top freshman point guard Jordan McLaughlin, who was the No. 41 ranked recruit out of high school according to ESPN. Miami, a team that had a down season last year after losing 2013 ACC Player of the Year Shane Larkin to the NBA, is also in the top half of the bracket. The Canes also welcome a top point guard in JaQuan Newton, the No. 58 overall recruit according to ESPN.

The Red Dwarf star Craig Charles has left Im a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here! following the sudden death of his brother.
The Coronation Street actor was missing from the live section of Wednesdays show after he was told about the death of his older brother Dean, who reportedly died after having a heart attack at his home in Spain.
Charles, 50, was not seen with his fellow contestants when presenters Ant and Dec entered the campsite. Earlier, the duo told viewers they could not vote for Charles when deciding which celebrity should take part in the next bushtucker trial.
An ITV spokesman said: Craig decided to leave the camp earlier today and will be heading back to his family in the UK. We send our sincere condolences to Craig and his family.
Meanwhile, The Only Way Is Essex star Gemma Collins told fellow campers the show had put her off TV for life after she quit the jungle. She left after managing just three days while grumbling about hunger and complaining that she thought she might have malaria.
Collins will be replaced in the jungle by former Conservative MP Edwina Currie and X Factor reject Jake Quickenden, who arrive on screens on Thursday night.
She said she had no regrets about taking part and suggested she would refocus her life as she declared: I believe that this is the start of me now, and nothing is going to change it.
Collins follows past contestants Brian Conley, Nigel Havers and Katie Price in leaving the show early.
Explaining her decision to go, she said: I have to start living my life the way I want to live it and this isnt it. Do you know what, I dont want any of this, I just dont want to have to put myself through such extreme measures all the time. I just want to be normal.

COLUMBUS, Ohio - A bill that could mean the end of red light cameras in Columbus is one step closer to becoming law.
Wednesday the Ohio Senate passed new legislation on red light cameras that would require a police officer to be present for tickets to be issued from red light cameras.
"The cameras are on 24/7 365 without taking a day off," City of Columbus Public Safety Deputy DirectorGeorge Speaks. Cameras that capture images of hundreds of drivers plowing through red lights.
"Someone ran a red light. Receives a ticket and in Columbus you pay $95. That person then has 95 reasons not to run that red light again," Speakssaid.
But now Speaks believes the red light photo program he helped launch nearly 10 years ago could soon go away because of senate bill 342 and the statewide lawsuit that says the cameras are unconstitutional.
That lawsuit is now being reviewed by the Ohio SupremeCourt.
Speaksbelieves the solution to the photo red light issues would be for other counties to model the practices laid out here in Columbus,"Those practices would eliminate some of the allegations that have occurred in some if the smaller districts that are utilizing this technology for speed enforcement."
Lawmakers say the bill addresses the legal issues that came to light once red light cameras popped up in Ohio. State Senator Bill Seitz is sponsoring the bill.
NBC 4 reached out for comment Thursday but did not get a response.
Speaks says if the bill becomes law it will effectively end the red light camera program in Ohio.

For a business that markets its energy drink by sponsoring death-taunting extreme sports, Red Bull keeps a surprisingly low profile. Its headquarters is in a low-slung, unmarked building in the small Austrian town of Fuschl am See, Austria. The company doesnt grant interviews, including for this post. Fortunately, weve been given a look at the companys recently opened New York office, which, unsurprisingly, doesnt brandish a single logo.
Photograph by Greg Irikura/Inaba Inc.
That is by design. The space, located in Manhattans Chelsea neighborhood, doesnt celebrate the companys brand, nor is its layout inspired by a popular theory of workplace productivity. Instead, the company wanted a low-key, versatile office that could be transformed as needs and trends change. If the new [office design] standard is to create a physical experience that reinforces the brand attributes the company has successfully established in the digital environment, then Red Bull is the antithesis of this strategy, says the designer, Jeffrey Inaba. Its not exactly the architectural equivalent of normcore, but its a similar response. (Normcore, in Thomas Franks words, is the trend among the privileged toward anti-fashion clothes of the kind available at Wal-Mart.)
Photograph by Greg Irikura/Inaba Inc.
Nothing screams Red Bull. There are no billboards of previous marketing campaigns, playgrounds for grownups, or vending machines stocked with silver cans of caffeinated beverages. Instead, 16,800-square-foot duplex office has a gallery-esque feel, with concrete floors, whitewashed walls, and vibrantly upholstered pieces of midcentury modern furniture. The office currently holds 60 people but Inaba expects that it can accommodate twice that number without being renovated. Rather than making the space flexible using pricey partitions, he carved it into three types of fixed spaces: large for open-plan workstations, medium-sized for meetings, and small for meetings up to four people or solitary heads-down sessions. Although each room type has unique lighting and acoustic features, none is custom-tailored, so they can be easily adapted to new uses in the future.
The space, as Inaba sees it, should be immune to workplace fads, even if hes just recast normcore as just that.
