Wisil, whoholds the record in Oceania in the one hundred meter sprint, will be leading the PNG side and participating in her respective events.

STU PIDDINGTON

Last updated17:38, June 22 2017

JOHN BISSET/FAIRFAX NZ

Sprinter athlete Anna Hayward is excited to be representing New Zealand for the first time.

South Canterbury sprinter athleteAnnaHayward is looking forward to her busy schedule at theOceania Area and Combined Events Championships in Fiji.

Hayward is set to run the 100m and 200m sprints plus the 400m in Suva.

"It is really exciting, I can't wait."

JOHN BISSET/FAIRFAX NZ

Winter training in all weather has been a hard slog for Anna Hayward, but she was rewarded with selection to the New Zealand team for the first time.

It the first time the 17-year-old has represented New Zealand.

She departs on Sunday with her first event on Thursday.

Hayward's busy schedule could even get more hectic if she is selected in relay team.

Athletics New Zealand has already invited her to join their expanded relay squad, which trains for major events.

Hayward has been doing athletics since was 10, but has really come to the fore over the past couple of seasons.

Her favoured event is the 400m.

"I like it as it is much more of a challenge, I am not sure why, but it is a hard race and it takes a bit to recover."

Hayward said she was not sure who she would be up against.

"There will be Australians and quite a few of the island nations represented."

Her goal is to put her best foot forward and look to lower her personal best times.

"I'm not sure of anyone else'stimes."

Hayward's selection came after putting in the hardworkoverthe winter, which she admitted at time had been quite tough inthe cold.

"Mylast competition was the beginning of April."

She was thankful to walker Alice Ritchie, who had at times trained with her.

Hayward's dedication however saw her pull out of the Craighead senior hockey team to concentrate on athletics.

"I wanted to giveit my full focus and didn't want to sustain an injury."

The Craighead runner wasone of 55 Kiwi athletes named to go butis the only one from South Canterbury attending the the five-day championships, which features senior, under-20 and under-18 competitions.

She has trained six days a week with on Fridays off.

Coach Grant Lord said Hayward was deserving of selection.

"She had worked really hard. It is also great she has been included in the wider New Zealand relay squad, a bit like Jacob Matson was a couple of years ago."

Lord said South Canterbury had a proud record when it came to young athletes going to Oceania.

"Anna has kept that going and I am she she will perform very well."

Sights set on Fiji – Glen Innes Examiner

Glen Innes pair to contest Oceania Area Championships.

INTERNATIONAL MEET: Mikielee Snow and Gracie Martin at last year's NSW Juniors Athletics Championships. The pair will represent Regional Australia at the Oceania Area Championships next week.

Young stars of the athletics track, Gracie Martin and Mikielee Snow, have stepped up their training in preparation for the Oceania Championships.

The Glen Innes pair were both selected for the Regional Australia team, alongside three of their Armidale Athletics Club teammates.

Martin withdrew from theMelanesian event in Fiji last year but is fit and firing to line up at the starting blocks.

She will take her place at the start of the 200 metre and 400 metre races.

My training is going very well, it has probably been the best lead up I have had to a competition in a while, she said.

My off season training started off with longer slower paced runs to help build my base fitness.

Now as it gets closer to competition, we are sharpening up with some shorter speed sessions.

Snow competed last year and finished with a pair of bronze medals from the 4x100m and the medley relay teams.

She also made the finals in her races last year, a feat which she hopes to repeat at the Oceania Championships.

While she is a year older in the under 18 age group, Snow is expecting to come up against even speedier runners at this years meet.

The competition is definitely going to be tougher this year as there are way more countries then last year, she said.

I have around 25 in both my 100m and 200m and most of these athletes are older then me.

I am expecting some high level competition at this meet and a great chance to see how my training has been going and where I am at.

I am hoping to achieve a new personal best in either the 100m or the 200m, or even both would be great.

I would also like to make it to the finals in both the 100m and 200m.

The girls daily schedules are packed in the lead up to the meet, fitting in schoolwork and training for an international competition.

This years preparation has been going very well. I have had no injurieswhich is great, Snow said.

I have been doing a lot of track sessions and also gym and core sessions as well.

I also have been doing a lot of mobility work over the months of preparation.

Snow said the Championships are a highlight on her athletics calendar and excited to be travelling alongside her clubmates.

I am looking forward to both the amazing experience to compete with athletes from different places and to be going over with my Armidale teammates and other athletes that I have become friends with over my athletics career, she said.

The athletes will make their way to Fiji on Monday, before the opening ceremony on Wednesday and the girls start their eventson Thursday.

Terex Trucks teams up with Porter Group to distribute ADTs in Oceania – Materials Handling World Magazine

Terex Trucks has enlisted Porter Group to support and supply its Generation 10 TA400 and TA300 articulated dump trucks in Australia and New Zealand. With new headquarters in Hamilton, New Zealand, Porter Group is expanding its operations with an enlarged fleet of machines to maintain its position as the largest dealer of rental and sales equipment for construction and associated industries in the country. Porter Equipment is delighted to represent Terex Trucks across Australia and New Zealand as we share Terex Trucks commitment to the brands success in the region, says Darren Ralph, general manager for sales and marketing at Porter Group.

Ralph adds: Porter Equipment and Terex Trucks represent a formidable partnership in the supply and distribution of articulated dump trucks. Terex Trucks has a strong pedigree in design and manufacture of robust haulers, and Porter Equipment provides a distribution network in Oceania that dates back over 70 years.

Porter Group was founded in 1945 by Arthur Porter when he began winning civil engineering contracts in New Zealand. He imported equipment and parts, and established the Porter name as a well-known supplier of heavy equipment through sales and rentals.

The company now has almost 40 branches in Oceania and distributes a range of ADTs, excavators, wheel and skid steer loaders, compactors, rock crushers, screens, harvester heads, conveyors, stackers, stock-pilers, shredders, and feller bunchers.

In addition to providing the sale and rental of equipment, Porter Group has subsidiary divisions for the supply of spare parts, servicing and repairs, transport haulage, hire of cranes and access equipment, and financing options. The company serves clients in a variety of industries including construction, quarrying and mining, forestry, recycling and landfill, road-building, and agriculture.

Porter Groups new headquarters is a significant investment that includes workshops and a spare parts depot. The company also has bases in Australia, Papua New Guinea and California in the United States.

In its articulated hauler range, Terex Trucks makes three models, with payloads from 25-38 tonnes, and engine power outputs from 311-444 hp. The off-highway units are robust, reliable and offer flexible transportation of materials for a variety of applications across the harshest of environments.

Of the ADT units to be distributed by Porter Group, the highest specification model is the Gen10 TA400, which was launched in 2016 and the first of a new era of haulers from Terex Trucks. It features magnetic suction filters that reduce the risk of contaminants entering the system, improve the cleanliness of the hydraulic oil, and reduce wear as well as downtime.

Force-cooled multi-disc brakes are supported by an electronically activated exhaust brake and a six-stage modulating transmission retarder, which extend component life. And the powerful drivetrain maintains traction, even in the most difficult terrain, thanks to longitudinal and limited slip transverse differential locks. The engine and drivetrain is well matched, utilising automatic adaptive shifting and a pre-selected two-speed transfer box (drop box), providing good performance and productivity for all haul conditions.

Investments have also been made to enhance operator comfort, ensuring a smooth haul and more productive operation. Anti-vibration mounts for the engine and cabin, as well as cushioned stops on the steering cylinders have been integrated, and the cab features an improved heating, ventilation, and air conditioning system. Additionally, to ensure customers benefit from competitive aftermarket service, Terex Trucks will also provide the newly launched 2 Years / 6,000 hours warranty on all Factory-Approved parts.

Terex Trucks is excited to be part of this new journey of growth by partnering with Porter Group to serve the Australia and New Zealand markets, says Clement Cheong, sales and marketing director for the APAC region at Terex Trucks. Porter Groups latest facility investment for its new headquarters in New Zealand is a testament to the confidence it has in its business. The company is showing its customers that it has a commitment to continue providing the highest level of sales, parts, service, rental and financing solutions to the industry.

Cheong continues: With its extensive network of more than 35 branches in these countries, and its excellent reputation in the market for providing a total solution to its served segments, we are confident that Porter Group will bring the same success story to Terex Trucks.

PNG boxing team all set for Oceania C’ship – POST-COURIER

June 21, 2017

BOXING BY MARTIN LIRI

Papua New Guinea boxing team moves into the last week of preparations before they lace on their competition gloves for the Oceania Boxing championships in Gold Coast, Australia.

Assistant coach Mark Keto, who remained in Port Moresby, to ensure Bougainvillean Maxie Mangea (49kg) and Mekeos Andrew Aisaga (69kg), continued to train while their Australian visas were being processed, flew out last Friday together with team manager Dick Larry.

They joined the rest of the team which has been in Gold Coast, training under National coach Joe Aufa since early June.

Charles Keama (52kg), Beupu Noki (56kg), John Ume (64kg), who had valid Australian visas due to an earlier visit to Australia for the Sydney Kokoda Track Charity event in March this year, are the boxers who went ahead.

PNG Boxing Union president John Avira thanked Kumul Petroleum Holdings Limited for supporting the team with uniforms and travelling bags so that the boxers were professionally attired.

The company is new to sponsoring sports teams, therefore we are very grateful to the board, management and staff of the Kumul Petroleum Holdings Limited for their timely support, Avira said.

He also extended his appreciation to the PNG Olympic Committee under the leadership of secretary-general Auvita Rapilla and her deputy Andrew Lepani and the staff for their tireless efforts to provide funding and assist with other travel requirements.

The Oceania championships from June 26 to 28 which includes only men, is important for PNG boxings programs as it will provide the ideal opportunity for boxers to push their claims for higher level international competitions like next years Commonwealth Games.

Keama, the 2015 gold medalist, is the only boxer who has proven that he can mix it with the best in the Oceania region while the others in the team have shown the potential and need to convince national selectors they can continue to be part of the PNG elite squad.

Another proven boxer Olympian Thadius Katua could not join the team when ruled out due to an injury as he undergoes rehabilitation process for recovery.

PNG boxing is one of the sports nominated for the Mini Pacific Games in Port Vila, Vanuatu in December.

Unfortunately, women have not been included in the competition due to the lack of quality women boxers from the Pacific, the same reason they were not included in next weeks Oceania championships.

While these PNG boxers are the front-runners to spots for in mini games team, they would have to maintain their spots by winning their respective weight categories at the SP Brewery National Boxing Championships in Arawa in September.

Oceania Smart Grid – Market Forecast (2017-2027) – Region will Invest $6.1bn in Smart Grid Infrastructure Over the … – Business Wire (press release)

DUBLIN--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Research and Markets has announced the addition of the "Oceania Smart Grid: Market Forecast (2017-2027)" report to their offering.

Oceania has one of the most developed power sectors in the world, with strong utilities, unsubsidized electricity prices, and high rates of per-capita electricity consumption. Combined with high per-capita income and a number of incentives for clean technology, Australia and New Zealand are both well positioned to develop and expand smart grid projects. Indeed, New Zealand has completed a significant majority of its national smart metering rollout, and the Australian state of Victoria has completed its statewide rollout.

So far, regulations in other Australian states and at the national level have been more limited. New Zealand has accomplished its rollout without significant regulations, simply due to positive business case indicators. The rest of Australia is expected to begin AMI deployments in the next 1-3 years, followed by further investment in distribution automation, home energy management, IT, and battery storage. Cumulatively, Australia and New Zealand will invest $6.1 billion in smart grid infrastructure over the next decade.

Oceania Championships: Kelsie Youman pumped to be representing Australia for the first time. – The Northern Daily Leader

Guyra athletics gun Kelsie Youman set to debut for Australia at Oceania Championships in Fiji.

GREEN AND GOLD: Kelsie Youman is ready to take on Oceania's best.

Kelsie Youman has hit the track and is on her way to reach her peak for the Oceania Championships at the end of this month.

The Guyra athletics star will represent Australia at the meet in Fiji.

For Youman, it will not be the first time she has raced in Fiji, having represented regional Australia last year on the island.

But it will be the first time she has worn the green and gold.

It feels a little strange being the only Armidale athlete in the Australian team, she said. However I am very honoured and proud to have the chance to wear the green and gold which I may never get to do again.

The regional Australia team and Australian team all travel together sand stay at the same accommodation so I should still be spending a lot of time with my training partners which is great.

She will compete in the 800 metres and the 2000 metres steeplechase after posting impressive qualifying times and results at the nationals.

Dedicated to her sport and her studies, Youman is undergoing her HSC but is managing to trainthree days a week in Armidale with coach Jay Stone as well as helping her mother, Nadine, train Guyra athletes every Wednesday.

She also tests her endurance once a week with a longer run and is building up her core strength to be in top shape for Fiji.

Preparation is going well and is finally coming together, she said.

I was scared that I was not going to be able to work my way back up to the fitness level I was in for nationals in time for Fiji but at the moment my times I have been getting at training are the fastest I have ran since I have been in the Viper squad which is a good sign.

This years meet will include more countries than the 2016 event and Youman is set for some heavily contested races.

The competition is slightly different then last year, which was Melanesian, and this year it is Oceanic, she said.

Because it wont be the same competition, Im notpositive what my chances are or how I will go placing wise.

However, I am feeling fit and healthy and my training is going well so I am aiming to get PBs in my races which I believe I can achieve.

She hit her peak for the nationals this year and was on her way to a podium finish in the 800mwhen she stumbled and fell.

She is ready to ramp it up in Fiji and achieve her personal best time in the 800m.

Because I fell at nationals, I didnt get to see the time I could have gotten with the training that I had put in, she said.

So to be able to complete a full race, full out to get a PBand see what I am capable of, would be great.

Forthe athletes, the competition isnt the only attraction it is also a chance to meet other like-minded young stars and explore another country.

I have been very excited about heading over to Fiji this year and am looking forward to competing, Youman said.

I'm again looking forward to meeting new people, not only from other countries but also from within Australia as I only know very few people that are in the Australian and Regional Australian teamthis year.

With the weather in Fiji a bit warmer than Guyra, she will headover on June 26,a few days prior to the opening ceremony, to adjust.

Youman said behind all her success is adedicatedteam of people.

I would again like to thank my family and everyone else who supports me. I appreciate it a lot, she said.

Also my mum, who does everything for me and supports everything I do.

And of course I would like to thank Jay Stone for everything that he does for myself as well as all the other athletes he coaches.

He is truly amazing and I wouldnt have the opportunities I have doing the things that I am without him.

Mobile data traffic in ASEAN, Oceania to grow 11-fold by 2022 – ComputerWeekly.com

Fuelled by growing adoption of 4G services and theinternet of things (IoT) in Southeast Asia and Oceania, mobile data traffic in the region is expected to surge 11-fold by 2022, a report by Ericsson has found.

Get an expert look at the government's ideas for a prosperous post-Brexit Britain as well as its ambitious 5G strategy. Features an interview with Sarah Wilkinson, chief data, digital and technology officer at the Home Office.

By submitting your personal information, you agree that TechTarget and its partners may contact you regarding relevant content, products and special offers.

You also agree that your personal information may be transferred and processed in the United States, and that you have read and agree to the Terms of Use and the Privacy Policy.

According to Ericsson, the expansion of 4G networks throughout the region is driving mobile subscriptions to monumental proportions. By the end of 2017, about 50% of all mobile subscriptions will be associated with smartphones, reaching around 70% by the end of 2022.

IoT is another key driver of mobile data traffic in the region, with the number of cellular IoT subscriptions slated to grow more than four-fold to 180 million between 2016 and 2022.

Ericsson said this would facilitate digital transformation of industries and provide mobile operators in the region with opportunities to take on different roles in the IoT value chain.

Despite the growth of cellular IoT subscriptions, radio technologies that operate on unlicensed spectrum will still dominate IoT deployments in the region.

Ericsson said cellular network operators could still play a crucial role in connecting IoT networks that ride on unlicensed spectrum to the internet, while negating the need for each IoT device to be cellular-enabled.

By 2022, early deployments of 5G will also translate into an estimated 28 million 5G subscriptions. Ericsson said new spectrum availability and the development of innovative use cases should help to accelerate the deployment of 5G services across Southeast Asia and Oceania.

Magnus Ewerbring, chief technology officer of Ericsson Asia-Pacific (APAC), said APAC would lead the global roll-out of 5G, along with North America.

This will be driven initially in South Korea in 2018, closely followed by Japan and China by 2020. Australia and Singapore are also expected to be early adopters of 5G, he said.

In May 2017, Singapores Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) said it wouldwaive the frequency fees for 5G trials in a bid to lower regulatory barriers and encourage the industry to test the next-generation mobile technology.

With the commercial deployment of 5G services and applications, spectrum needs are expected to increase substantially. IMDA has identified several spectrum bands from 800MHz to 86GHz that may be suitable for 5G deployments in Singapore.

5G networks are expected to be rolled out in Singapore by 2020. Telecoms operators such as Singtel and M1 have been testing 5G technology, with the latter having achieved the countrys highest transmission speeds of 35Gbps in January 2017.

3 NMI athletes drop bid for Oceania title – Marianas Variety

14 Jun 2017

THREE young athletes have pulled out of the team that will represent CNMI in the 2017 Oceania Athletics Association Area Championships in Suva, Fiji from June 26 to July 1.

Salvosa, Castillo and Calvo are among the nine athletes that NMA is gearing up for the Oceania championships. But Rangamar said the schedules of the event will conflict with their own equally important commitments.

Salvosa will have the most hectic schedule, Rangamar said. She will go to a soccer camp in the U.S. scheduled on the days too close to that of Oceania event.

Her schedules are too conflicted, I feel bad for her. We were trying to work her schedule but she would be traveling a lot from Fiji to the soccer camp so it is going to be so hectic for her so she pulled out, Rangamar said.

Castillo is heading to Marine Corps boot camp soon, while Calvo III cannot leave his work, Rangamar.

Rangamar said they got a replacement for Salvosa but not for Castillo and Calvo so NMI will be able to send eight athletes instead of nine as originally planned.

Salvosas replacement is Dandan Middle Schools Leani Acosta who won three gold medals in the Public School System-McDonalds All-Schools Athletics Championships last month.

The other NMI athletes who are preparing for this years Oceania championship are Beouch Ngirchongor, Zarinae Jones Sapong, Riella Ann Billy Ichiuo, Traven Quitugua, Annalei Santos and Jamie Pangelinan.

They will be leaving on June 24, with Preston Basa who will coach them and NMA General Secretary Robin Sapong.

All Whites to face Solomon Islands Oceania qualifying final – Newshub

The Solomon Islands will be New Zealand's opponents in the final of the Oceania World Cup qualifying process.

A 2-1 win over 10-man Papua New Guinea in Port Moresby was enough for the Bonitos to advance to a two-leg final against the All Whites on August 28 and September 5.

New Zealand had already finished top of their group courtesy of an unbeaten record against Fiji and New Caledonia.

The Solomon Islands needed only draw but prevailed comfortably to finish on 9 points in group B. Tahiti registered 6 points and Papua New Guinea 3.

All the goals came in the first half.

Raymond Gunemba put the hosts in front in the 18th minute but the match turned on the half-hour mark when Felix Komolong was shown a red card for handling the ball in front of goal.

Henry Fa'arodo converted from the spot before Jerry Donga put the Solomon Islands in front just before the break.

The winners of the final advance to an inter-confederation play-off against the fifth-placed team from South America (CONMEBOL federation) in November.

That two-leg series determines one team to play at next year's World Cup in Russia.

Australian Olympic Committee: Victory for Australian young guns at … – Australian Olympic Committee

EQUESTRIAN: Australias Young Rider team cruised to a comfortable victory in the CCI2* Young Rider leg of the 2017 Oceania Championships yesterday at the Melbourne International 3 Day Event.

The team of four women including Gemma Tinney, Shenae Lowings, Olivia Barton and Tayah Andrew went into the final show jumping phase with a dominant lead and they maintained their strong position right until the very end to win by 65 penalties.

Three of the four riders jumped clear in front of a packed crowd at Werribee Park and proved they each have exciting futures and could one day grace the world stage for Australia.

We are really proud of the guys not only today but all this week. Under the leadership of Will Enzinger the team including reserves have prepared really well as a group,"said Equestrian Australias High Performance Director Chris Webb.

All three phases have been a standout and a real testament to the future talent of eventing in this country.

Off the horse the guys have become a really close-knit group and this has translated to their performance in the saddle.

The group has been extremely well supported by their families and support networks who have all rallied together, said Webb.

Gemma Tinney (45.70) finished the competition on her dressage score and secured second in the overall standings behind NSW rider Andrew Barnett (41.90).

Tinney gave huge credit to her Warmblood x Thoroughbred mare Annapurna for the result.

The mare has been so good. She still surprises me every event and we have a great partnership and I enjoy every moment I sit on her, Tinney said.

She also praised her Oceania Championships team mates.

I think we work really well as a team and we bonded well and have established great friendships out of this.

Shanae Lowings was 4th placed overall (51.60), Olivia Barton 5th (51.90) and Tayah Andrew finished 11th (59.30) on her talented grey gelding Silver Force that travelled all the way across from Western Australia.

Webb commended the Young Rider team on the preparation of their horses for this weeks event.

All horses came into the competition extremely well conditioned and ready for the task at hand, he said.

The final results can be viewed HERE>>>

In the senior ranks the Australians were unable to beat a strong New Zealand contingent of riders that ventured across the Tasman this year.

Jock Paget and Angus Blue won the CCI3* class (46.90) and his team mate Samantha Felton was second (49.20).

Stuart Tinney was the highest finishing Australian representative rider in fifth with War Hawk (53.60). Reserve rider Rohan Luxmoores performance to end in 7th position was encouraging.

Final results can be viewed HERE>>>

Sam Lyle and his team were presented with some challenges throughout the weekend and although we are disappointed with the results this gives us something to work on with the group going forward, said Webb.

Future talent both horse and rider in this country has proven that the Eventing community in Australia is really making a mark.
