Please refrain from posting non-factual information in a review otherwise you are violating laws regarding defamation and libel. Please change your review to only post factual information.

Nope, it is factual and if you think what I said in my review isn't factual, then sue me!

You may want to re-read the emails, as what you posted does not match what was written. Also, Dr. Petrie doesn't have a practice in Virginia.

Of course she doesn't....lol

Dear Ms. Preston-

It has come to our attention that you have not been complying with your required treatment plan as we outlined for your FLMA. As you know the FLMA that we completed for you was for a reduced work schedule specifically to attend weekly doctor visits, to include our office. You have not attended ANY of these weekly visits at our office since the FLMA was signed by Dr. Ginnan, despite phone calls from our office which you failed to return.

We feel ethically bound at this point to retroactively rescind your FLMA, unless you keep your weekly visits at our office starting on June 15, 2015. Please call us immediately to set up your appointment

WHO DOES SOMETHING THIS ABSURD, EVERYONE I HAVE TOLD THINKS IT SOUNDS CRAZY!!!!!!

2 weeks ago Email # 4--oh and this is patient Jay W--probably the only good review of this business!

Thanks for the great review on yelp, to my family business that was only trying to help you. Much appreciations. You and I both know that all they were trying to do was help. You were getting better when you were going there. But I guess if you didn't get exactly what you wanted. Slander! That real mature. Have a nice day God bless. Jay W.

Of course Dr. Petrie (I mean Ms. Petrie because her Chiropractic license is suspended per an email I received from the VA Medical Board) doesn't have a business which is why I received a civil summons to appear in Fairfax County Court on 7/29/15 and she is the named plaintiff suing me for $25,000 for defamation and tortious interference of business. I guess she's trying to get the $25,000 from me that she was fined by the VA Medical Board. This woman is definitely a quack and a fraud and I am contacting the media to out this scam to warn other victims!!!!!

I am often asked: What kind of medical doctor are you, or what is your specialty? And, what kinds of conditions do you treat? How is it possible that this type of medicine can treat a variety of symptoms and conditions so vast and diverse as to include diabetes, psychiatric problems, angina, headaches, pain, digestive dysfunction, immunosuppressive disorders, arthritis, thyroid and hormonal conditions, fatigue, autism, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and the list goes on and on. And how does it differ from the traditional medical approach?

This kind of medicine we do in this office is referred to by so many different names, each representing a slightly different aspect of the work:

My preference is probably the last, functional, which reflects the fact that this approach has at its core a goal of eliminating poor function and establishing, creating, or allowing good or even excellent function; both diagnosis and treatment are guided by this philosophy. A most wonderful and lucid explanation of this approach was offered by Sidney MacDonald Baker, M.D., grand master of functional medicine, in his book Detoxification and Healing: The Key to Optimal Health. It is excerpted here by gracious permission of the author:

In explaining to my patients how I go about the detective work involved in unraveling their problems, I sometimes recite the "Tacks Rules to make my point.

If you are sitting on a tack, it takes a lot of aspirin to make it feel good.

If you are sitting on two tacks, removing just one does not result in a 50 percent improvement.

Lets look at the first rule. You could substitute the word aspirin with psychotherapy, meditation, organic foods, or vitamins and the rule still applies: the proper treatment for tack sitting is tack removal. Get at the root of the matter and fix it. In particular, dont take medicine to cover up a symptom instead of looking for the cause. Chronic illness has two common causes, one of which is illustrated by the first rule: the body may be irritated by an unwanted substance. If not a tack, it could be a disagreeable substance such as a food that causes an allergy; it could be a germ or a naturally occurring or manufactured toxin. The presence of some unwanted substance is a common root of illness.

The second rule helps explain what I mean by a root. Becoming chronically ill usually results from a combination of factors. It is unrealistic to think in terms of a single cause when several factors inevitably contribute to a problem. It is especially unrealistic to recommend a single treatment to remedy a complex chronic illness when several factors deserve attention. The factors may have to do with the presence of an unwanted substance or the lack of a needed substance. A colleague, Dr. Ronald Hoffman, has applied another name to this kind of medicine that may make the most sense of all: Intelligent Medicine. I believe that once someone understands the value of a comprehensive, global, open-minded look at a patients health, and what this can bring to the patient, even to community and corporate health, they simply cannot turn backward again. Once they knew, they could not ever knowingly choose to exclude the broader picture, and all the options that exist in favor of a more limited traditional/pharmaceutical perspective. For me, this Intelligent Medicine is the only option, and where my work begins. I invite you to join me.

Enriched Skim Milk Good for Gout, Study Suggests

(HealthDay News) -- If you have gout, drinking enriched skim milk may help reduce the frequency of painful flare-ups, new research suggests.

The new study included 120 patients who had experienced at least two flare-ups in the previous four months. They were divided into three treatment groups that consumed either lactose powder, skim milk powder or skim milk powder enriched with glycomacropeptide (GMP) and G600 milk fat extract (G600).

Gout, a common form of arthritis, is caused by uric acid buildup in blood. Often, the big toe is the first place where gout strikes. Previous research has shown a higher risk for gout among people who consume fewer dairy products, and earlier work suggested that GMP and G600 tone down the inflammatory response to gout crystals.

The powders were mixed in roughly 8 ounces of water as a vanilla-flavored shake and consumed once a day. The patients recorded their flare-ups and went to a rheumatology clinic once a month. Read more…

Obesity Causes Increased Risk of Kidney Cancer, Kidney Stones, and Stroke

by: Steve G. Jones, Ed.S

Obesity is defined as a body mass index (BMI) of 30.0 or greater. BMI is a ratio determined by weight and height. With a large percentage of Americans classified as being obese, research is showing the effects extra weight and obesity have on a person's overall health. Recent studies show that obese people have an increased risk of developing common kidney cancer, kidney stones, and an increased risk of having a stroke.

A study involving 1,640 participants studied the effects of weight on kidney cancer. The average age of patients was 62 and all participants had kidney tumors. The study showed that patients with a BMI of 30 or higher were 48% more likely to develop clear-cell renal cell cancer (RCC). With every 1 point increase in BMI, obese patients increased their odds of getting kidney cancer by 4%.

Out of all the participants, 67% of the obese patients had kidney cancer compared to 57% of non-obese patients. Researchers do not know why there is a link between obesity and kidney cancer. Researchers are looking into a secondary link involving diabetes, hypertension, hormonal changes, and decreased immune function. Read more…

Depression drugs linked to falls in elderly

by Mike Adams

Falls are the leading cause of accidental death in the elderly population of adults over 65 years of age. A recent study found that elderly people who suffer from dementia are more likely to suffer falls if they are given anti-depressants.

Selective serotonin uptake inhibitors (SSRIs) are frequently prescribed to dementia patients, who often also experience depression. The British Journal of Clinical Pharmacology reported that the risk of elderly injuring themselves from falls was TRIPLED after they were given SSRIs. This class of drugs includes the popular depression drugs Prozac and Paxil, which have long been considered first-line therapy for treatment of depression in older adults.

The high risk of falls following treatment with older anti-depressant medications is well established, as these drugs have long been shown to cause unpleasant and dangerous side effects in elderly such as dizziness and unsteadiness.

Although the medical industry and Big Pharma made claims that the newer SSRI-type anti-depressant drugs would likely reduce these dangerous consequences, the latest research from the Erasmus University Medical Center in Rotterdam appears to show the reverse. Read more...

Wikipedia Accurate on Cancer Facts, But Hard to Read: Study

(HealthDay News) -- The facts about cancer found on the website Wikipedia are about as accurate as the information on the disease found on the patient-oriented section of the U.S. National Cancer Institute's Physician Data Query (PDQ), a comprehensive peer-reviewed cancer database, according to a new study.

Although experts from Thomas Jefferson University were hard-pressed to find errors on Wikipedia, they did find the content on the site was harder to read and included links to more dense information than the simplified, shorter explanations found on PDQ.

"There are a vast number of websites where patients can obtain cancer information," study leader Dr. Yaacov Lawrence, adjunct assistant professor of radiation oncology at Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University, and director of the Center for Translational Research in Radiation Oncology at the Sheba Medical Center in Israel, said in a university news release. Salt increases heart attack and stroke risk, even if blood pressure is normal

Joel Fuhrman, M.D.

Excess dietary salt is notorious for increasing blood pressure – blood volume increases, placing more stress on blood vessel walls. This forces the heart to pump harder against the pressure, and also structural changes that harden the vessel wall (this hardening is called stenosis) occur in response to these high pressures.
About one-third of all American adults and over 50% of those over the age of 55 have hypertension, and hypertension carries significant risks. Elevated blood pressure accounts for 62% of strokes and 49% of coronary heart disease. [1] Notably, the risk for heart attack and stroke begins climbing with systolic pressures (first number in the blood pressure reading) above 115 mm Hg – considered “normal” by most standards.[2] Also, dietary salt is not only dangerous to the cardiovascular system, but also contributes to kidney disease, osteoporosis , ulcers, and stomach cancer.
